The Seagnoid, Toby and I collected Zara from the West Coast, spending Saturday exploring the amazing Denniston region. Its raining today so we bug out of Westport early to attend the Hidden Creatures Event in Nelson. And its raining in Nelson now too. Bummer - oh well thats what gummies and raincoats are for.
Parked on the top side of this one and bashed our way to the cache. Cache all good here. Cheers
OK enough rain and enough caching. Time to head home. Better go pick up Zara first. Cheers

Zara is feeling better so Taybeedragon and I are off to Greymouth to pick her up and find some of those Hidden Creatures. We carved a figure-8, but without the crossover: Blenheim - Greymouth - Westport - Nelson - Blenheim.
After spending an a fantastic day on hte West Coast caching around the Denniston Plateau, we headed for Nelson hoping for less rain. Less... yes. Still glad I brought the raincoat though.
Last cache for the trip, time to head home. Parked on the wrong side of the bush and we had to bash pretty much all the way through to find the cache.
BTW, no problems with cache or its location. No maintenance needed here.

Wonder what the cache’s neighbor thinks of the rustling in the bush? A fun bit of bushwhacking, thanks.
Nice hide. However just read the clue and it was a good thing we didn't need it. We found the cache by the coordinates but it wasn't where the clue indicates. Returned the cache to where we found it so it may be slightly out of place. Thanks for the find.
A lovely shady spot on another hot day. Possibly some ants were harmed in the retrieval. Ooh I can still feel them crawling up my arm. Tftc
As we were passing this one on the way to a solved puzzle, we just had to stop and make the find. Had to wait for some muggles to disappear, but cache was found quickly afterwards. Container had ants in it and log was damaged so left a new bag and log in container along with the old. This will hold it until it can be seen too. tftc
I am always delighted when the cache is in the first place I look. I was also impressed that I could get to the cache without any bush bashing as I was still in my work clothes. tftc
A quick park and grab log was very wet and hard to write on it and also needs new log great cache Tftc Sunday 6
quick find. This is a clever hide & expected it to have at least a favourite point as I haven't seen many like this one. the ants have inhabited this during the rain &n due to the rain, the log was wet so I didn't bother signing it. This one may need maintenance yet again. Find #254
Today we wanted to add a few caches to the numbers so we focused on low d/t caches.
Happy to grab this cache as one of them.

#3422. I had a work trip to Nelson arranged at very short notice so decided I would come half a day early to give myself a chance to pick up a few geocaches around Nelson. The weather today is a very hot summers day so making it fun. Having to open and shut the car window as I stop and start around the city. The urban caches proved rather tricky to find so didn't get as many done as I planned but still got 22 which is OK. Parked up the road and did a roundabout walk to the cache. Soon spotted but had to unsettle a colony of ants to get hold of the logbook. Signed log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here.
Quick find at our 2nd visit - but those ants are a real nuisance and found their way into and onto everything! Thanks to previous visitor, there was a dry piece of paper to sign.
Cache full of ants and wet. Log paper soaked and torn. Needs new log paper and clean up.
Lovely hide. Log soaked and torn. If I were home I'd have my repair kit with me, but, alas not today! TFTC!

Today's the last day of our daughter's visit to us here from the North Island and her flight back to Wellington is out of Nelson airport so a compulsory trip over the hill was mandated; oh well, thems the breaks! Despite leaving home fairly late at around 0930 I soon had the girls delivered to the Nelson shopping area and was kindly given an hour and a half of caching time which was followed later by 2 hours once I'd moved tem to destination number 2; Richmond Mall. These arrangements suit us all fine, I get to avoid the shops and the girls get to avoid Geocaching (though I think they miss out on more cool sights and sites than I do)!
Not sure how I've missed this one on previous visits, but I have, maybe to do with the dreaded phrase 'bush-bashing'! Parked up the hill and headed down to the park through the back of the trees and was soon looking at the cache nestled low. Logbook is too wet to sign so needs a C O replacement please

Well, first off, coords are obviously not very precise because they point into the property next to the small reserve.
I tried looking around the trees but got tired of the bushbashing and went on.

Aha very clever! Lucky for me I've seen these before, and still cool. Cache is becoming an ant nest though, and I signed carefully k.m. because log quite damp. Enjoyable, thanks for bringing me up a road I haven't been and TFTC
Spent ages trying to look at the base of every tree... Is it more towards the grass and not up the hill like the gps said? Thanks!
Funnily enough I checked this one for another reason about 3 weeks ago and it was still there then so I'm sure it won't have moved since then. So it does not need archived
GPS indicated over the fence, we searched for ages. Think we looked in and around most of the bushes in the area but to no avail. Nice we park though.
The coordinates were showing to the neighbours and I didn't want to intrude on a private property. So nothing found at all.
Took a while to find as was looking for something a little bigger but happy to find it. Log was a bit damp though. Awesome find.
GPS quite far off, should be checked. Log too damp to write on properly but tried our best. Tftc!
With the GPS suggesting that the cache was in the neighbour's property, we used our nouse and searched high and low in the public domain. Nothing - so maybe we'll come back another day. Most frustrating!
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
Found this cache while staying in the nearby van park.

We have driven past here so many times but never stopped. Tonight we made it a nominated stop on a short night cache run. Our GPS was very jumpy here so just used common sense and geocacher's instinct. Thank you Sunday 6.
Ever since placement of this cache, and before, we used to speed past GZ. Not tonight. First the GPS wanted us up the hill, then down the hill. When it settled down a bit it suggested a cuppa at the neighbours. A particular part of this cute little reserve seemed in the right direction and had potential for a nice hide and it did. A cunning cache container too [^] Thank you Sunday 6 for placing this cache.
TFTC Got to 10metres and My GPS batterys died!! Noooooooo However lucky for me i found it straight away!!!
#9392. Didn't stop on the way up but decided to stop on the way down. Took a little bit of tracking down. TFTC.
We were driving past, and the park was deserted so thought we'd stop and have a look. GPsr had me 10m over the fence in the neighbour's place. Hmmm. We were aware how close the neighbouring house was so tried to keep our voices low but couldn't stop the leaves from crackling under our feet. Hate trampling on gardens and was pleased when StreetWalker made the find in a spot I thought I had searched .
Nice little park, TFTC.

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
The original plan for the day was to go hard out (when do we not though? ) and find max possible on the day. However, the weather forecast was not very appetising, with some high winds that could slow us down so we went a little easy…
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

A brief detour on the way home one evening. Miss N and I did not need to bash many bushes to get to this one. Thankfully.

Finally got it. Mrs Unichel and I have been trying to get back to pick this one up for a while.
We made this one harder on ourselves than we needed too. I actually came over this way first but just walked straight passed it. There was a very flat hedgehog not far away from GZ. Thanks for the cache

Two reports of DNF. One quick look a while ago and we had no luck either. Will investigate further and enable once up and running again.
Had a bit of a look for this one day but my GPS refused to give me a clear indication of where I should be so I gave up. Today my phone lead me to a likely looking place - - however a pretty thorough search failed to reveal anything. As this has not been found since January it occurs to me that maybe a cache check would be in order. Thanks.
Second visit for me, just too many muggles getting their morning exercise the other day. Lovely natural hide, TFTC.
A bit of head scratching then, yip I've seen one of these before. A good hide and no problems with the coords.

I was very tempted to back track to this one when it was first published but didn't really want to appear too addicted to those I was with at the time. Have read the various sagas involved so thought it might take a while but spotted it straight away. Sometimes its hard to tell if you are relieved or disappointed. I'd had this park in my sights for a while so good on you for getting a placement in there while I was still procrastinating. TFTC 5310
not a normal Sunday 6 cache felt a bit out of place in the garden but their are more than one approch I soon found out
Having seen the DNF logs I thought this one may require more than one visit. My first approach to gz proved awkward in my slippery office shoes and no sign of the cache. Feeling a bit conspicuous I retreated for another run at it. Still no joy. Read a few more logs and found a couple that gave me some idea of where not to go. Third approach I ended up in a slightly different spot and spied the cache. Phew nice to get it first go and in less than 10 minutes.
Thanks Sunday 6 for the cache.

Soooo good to see names like So Bad not find it, when I have had problems with their hides! Even better the Marchwoods - nearly neighbours - have not got it, YEA.
Great to be on the same list with these, and with bumandworker (or was it just bum) chris, dubbychick, all great cachers who I look up to. Thanks.http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif

FINALLY
After the Whonose log I just HAD to give this another go to make an attempt at saving face if nothing else. Bashed our way in from a different direction today and pretty well went straight to it. We certainly managed to make this a lot harder than it really was. Glad that we don't have to visit this park again for a while. We've already outstayed our welcome.

We have lodged a string of DNF logs in the last week, so a brief discussion with a local geo-pro had me expecting to add this cache to the list.
But yay....instant find....and without the "boss"......
nice one

My third visit. Armed with more than enough info and even an aerial map with a big red pointer. Scoured all the leaf litter this time and still couldn't find anything solid. I must really be missing something obvious.
Found with a friend from Melbourne who was on holiday back in Nelson where he was born. He used to live on Bisley Avenue so maybe the local knowledge helped with a surprisingly quick find! TFTC!!
GPS a bit out by 2m or so but was obvious once I saw something a bit out of the usual. Tftc
Return visit armed with a bit of extra information and made a quick find this time . My Android GPS certainly had me looking about 5m or more away from GZ in areas I thought better related to the cache title. In the end, a clever hide in a lovely little park I've only driven past before. TFTC
Shame Mrs SoBad was not there a bit earlier as even having her sister and PAF could not save her from a DNF. Will be back - with a fuller team maybe.
Mrs SoBad's sister does not like DNF's so when we were given extra information she was very keen to return. Mrs SoBad did not take much persuading. Back to look in a different area and it was an embarrassingly quick find. Not entirely sure we would have said it was stroller accessible but otherwise the T rating was closer to the given rating than where the GPS had suggested to search.
Thanks. This was the closest to home unfound and other of the CO's now moves into that position - ready for the team to have a wander with Mrs SoBad's sister while she is with us.

I came by a couple of days ago and bashed my way around to no avail. Resorted to PAF and returned today with renewed hope and Ms M, the super finder, in tow. Unable to find even though we "knew" what we were looking for and where. Will watch with interest.
had to search around, but it wasn't long before the cache was in our hands

The year isn't starting well. Despite a thorough search no joy for me today. I'll be back.
Well we had some fun in and out of bushes and up and down banks but sadly no luck in the bushes on Bisley. The gps was a little all over the place which did not help. Perhaps another attempt at a later date. Tftc
Tricky area for reception. GPS was all over the place on this one, but eventually managed to find the cache. TFTC
GPS wasn't moving off 1m around the entire area so took a bit of searching but finally spotted the culprit, turned around and there was Biggles, seconds late! Pleased to secure the FTF and our first find of the year, TFTC!
Second to find by mere seconds. Parked my car, wandered into the park just as the FTF cacher emerged from the bush bash with cache in hand. TFTC, Biggles.
Found on a rainy friday, was a park and search for me but found it in the end . Nice cache
