After leaving Melbourne early this morning, we headed straight up to Mt Buller for the webcam cache Id been wanting to do for ages. After walking around the village and picking up various caches, were now making our way back down the mountain.Despite my insistence that the cache wasnt on the track Steve was heading toward, I stood back and watched him battle the brambles to no avail. When he finally realised I was probably right (that must have stung), it turned into a nice, quick find. Thanks skullracing for this series.

Today is our drive up to Mt Buller to collect a few high altitude caches as well as the webcam. We had fantastic weather - in fact it was short sleeves even though it was about 13c. We also found caches along the way. Later in the day we took a drive out to Tolmie and discovered a very interesting community. Thanks to all the COs.

23-Mar-24
Out and about today from Mansfield to Mt Buller and then out to Tolmie. We were expecting it to be much colder up in Mt Buller, but with no wind it was quite pleasant. Arrived at GZ and in short time, found cache and signed logs. Thank you to the CO for placing them out there. TFTC

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a day trip from Wangaratta to Mount Buller, stopping at anything that caught our eye along the way. These turned out to be all wonderful caches. After hiking to the summit and exploring the village we made our way back down the mountain making a couple of stops to collect the last few caches for the day. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

23-Feb-24
We have traveled with 36 likeminded geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Melbourne we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was found on a detour to one of the seldom webcamcaches in Australia and so also among our finds today. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.

After a while, it was finally time to visit some caches in distant countries again. This time the destination should be australia and new zealand What an amazing continent. Met some nice people there, saw a lot of interesting spots and also found some geocaches, of course. Found this cache on a 24-day trip to Australia and New Zealand with a night of stopover in Qatar. In Qatar we have an evening and almost a full day of geocaching before we take the long flight to Downunder. In Australia we will visit the citys of Sydney, Melbourne, Aidelaide and Cairns. Our stays in New Zealand will be in Aukland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. For me the focus will be on old caches, placed in 2000 and obviously on the remaining webcams in Australia and New Zealand. We are a group of 38 Geocachers from Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg. At geocaches that we visit as a group, we sign the logbooks with our team-name "Team DownUnder24" to safe the owners a lot of space in the logbooks.Today we took a rental car and drove to Mt. Buller. We were Lenny love, CacheTaucher, keeiner and me. A quick find here.Merci frs Dosal sogt da GoanToni Thanks to Rhinogeo for hiding and maintaining this geocache.

Like Sunday at a waterpark in winter. Meandering around praying to all the weather lords that the rain would stay a drizzle and not get worse.....at leased today we have visibility. (The weather gods failed to listen, and the heavy rain set in at 12), but by 10 am, the rain was starting to seep down our socks and into the boots. Snips and Co does not like wet socks. Tiz13 was just glad their were no slippery slips to contend with. This was one of the caches we found on our meander this morning.

08-Jan-24
Thanks skullracing for this series, they are fun, the cache containers are good and dry, and the hides are not easy but well thought out.For many of this series we needed (and were grateful for) the spoiler pics. Tiz13 says I don't like wet socks It was more that I was surprised that an Olympic-sized swimming pool of water could fit in my hiking boots and I might have been a little concerned that my pruned toes might fall off.

TFTC. skullracing for your cache Buller Corner Series - Like Sunday at the.... that we found today.
We are staying in the North East for longer than anticipated. While we were here we decided that as it was a nice day we would drive out to Mount Buller for the day. We targeted some caches as we made our way to Mansfield and then up the Mountain. The major aim was to get our first webcam. We also planned to add some caches to increase our elevation numbers. A great day out.

A quick find today while out with the CO'S today. It was nice to have a quick find after all the other walks we did today. It certainly bought back lots of memories of when we officialled for the Mt Buller Sprint over 10years ago. Now i have to come back and finish the Buller Corner series but at least i have an excuse to come back. We might drive the B4 over and see how it handles these tight corners. TFTC

I really enjoyed my trip up and down Buller today. I have not been up here in over 30 years so virgin caching country for me today.
This one gave me some grief and it wasn't until I left the track that I was able to spot it from the right angle. Cheers

Heading toward Mount Buller, with an optimistic hope for a rain free day, so far so good! Corners, corners and more corners! We loved the names of the corners, both the original and the inaginative. Sturdy containers which kept everything dry were well hidden and not too difficult. All up a great series.

**FEEDBACK TO CO:** Whilst the log was dry, we were surprised to find water in the container. Empties out and screwed up nice and tight.

Thanks to skullracing for creating such a clever series of hides, for the geo-gameboard

Day 3 of our adventure in Wangaratta with Rapidlywild.
Today like everyone else we decided to try and get as many types in a day that we could.
So after heading to the top and doing the web cam we headed back down the mountain, heading to the CITO and saw this one along our journey.

A bit of searching was required here before coming up with the goods.

Thanks for the hide skullracing.

Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, have had a couple big days already and we were about collecting as many icons as possible. A bit foggy up here today but plenty of people around taking advantage of getting the Web Cam icon today. Spotted this one as we were coming up the mountain, and we wanted to grab a few of the Corner Series caches, however time got the better of us. We searched for this one in all the wrong places before FFLL made the find.... No where near where we were searching haha, always the way. Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance skullracing Big Grin off to the next icon we go.

Sorry but THANKS for the cache ??

13-Jan-22
The TOOLMAN was hurtling down the mountain but we made him stop at most of the corners, more out of life preservation than anything else. Finding a cache was a pure bonus!
I took the low road, budgie took the high road and the toolman just fluffed about. Budgie found it, I should have just at it the car [:o)]
Thanks skullracing

I had been set to attend another Victorian Mega but the damn pandemic began and for obvious reasons one was cancelled and one was postponed. I was pleased the postponed Wangaratta event went ahead but have to admit I was still apprehensive about the COVID situation. Although attending all events, (except 1 of the CITOs) keeping distance was still a priority. I had a great time touring with 1TOOLMAN and Budgietas although there was an empty void where SSR should have been.
As well as Wangaratta, we visited The Paps, Mt Buller, Benalla, Glenrowan, Winton and even popped in to Lex country, having dinner at Brady’s Railway Hotel. Our find numbers were low but our laugh count was high so I call that a win!

13-Jan-22
Found this series of caches coming down the hill from the top of Mt Buller

--------------------------------------------------------

The Mega in Victoria I had always planned to attend, but due to covid changes I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to due to work commitments. As these commitments cleared up, I planned to go over and catch up with GoosenEgg, Stainless Steel Rat, and 1Toolman while in Wangaratta for a day caching to attempt to find 100 in one day. As things turned out Stainless Steel Rat was unable to go, so I was invited to join GoosenEgg and 1Toolman for the entire period. 1Toolman collected us from the airport and we immediately drove to Victoria’s 1st Geocache. From there during the 4 days, we visited Wangaratta, Mt Buller, Albury, Wodonga, Benella, Glenrowan, and Beechworth (although we didn’t make the bakery much to 1Toolmans disgust)

The trip was less about numbers and more about visiting places that I had only driven through before. We did manage to complete the Ned Kelly Helmet series and find a great Earthcache at Murmungee Lookout and another cache at “The Paps” which gave tremendous views of the area. The GPS maze, which I must say was one of the greatest attractions was also attended as with another cacher I was first through on the Saturday Morning at 8.15. It was great to get this icon on my profile.

Of the trip, it was certainly hot and humid, but we really didn’t get rained on in any serious way, with the major storm passing through at night time, otherwise it was just hot or very hot depending on the time of the day.

This is the first day of real freedom for some many, who have been in lock down. We have been more free for some time but this is the first chance to run for the hills and escape a warmer day.

It was such a great day, with blue skies and very few muggles or traffic on the mount. We enjoyed the walks and making some great finds, with only 1 DNF for the day.

Thanks skullracing for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

it was snowy so could not see for life & that’s why couldn’t find

11-May-21
Brad headed up here to grab the webcam but it made sense to pick up a few of the other caches at some of the turns while in the area.
It sure is cold up here in short sleeves even if it is not yet winter. 3C plus quite a bit of wind chill.
No jacket was worn as my orange shirt makes it clear it is me in the webcam shot.
A late decision to head up here from Mansfield at the end of the day after the cloud lifted. Janet stayed at our accommodation on webcam watch.

We are staying near Mansfield for a few days with our friends and today we headed to Mount Buller to explore, take in the vista’s and of course geocache. The morning started quite cloudy and chilly but the sun started breaking through mid morning and by lunchtime it was a glorious day.

The gps would not settle at first, so we were sent higher up the hill than needed. It soon settled and we were happy to locate this cache. TFTC

Day1976 and I were going to be heading up to St Arnaud for the weekend, but with the temperatures set to soar, we changed our plans and headed higher up.
After finding a spot to camp, we set up and lightened the load in the car, then headed up towards Buller.
Finally I found a cache after day1976 has found all the previous ones today. The spoiler photo helped.

09-Jan-21
Ilukaperi and I had decided to escape the heat for the weekend and so we headed higher up in altitude. Towards Mt Buller/Stirling. We took her Jimny with its fancy new AT tires. Camping at Buttercup campground, we used that as a great base for exploring the area.

The first day we met up at her place in Ferntree Gully and left at around 1pm, arriving at 4pm, we set up camp and then took off up the mountain. Grabbing a few of the corner series and then some of the higher altitude caches (most which I already had found). An exhausting evening saw us not arrive back to camp for dinner until 9pm.

Ilukaperi matched up the spoiler photo to what was at GZ perfectly, and there she found the cache. About time she found at least one!

Round and round and up the mountain we go..

The corner descriptions are quite funny.

This cache luckily was not surrounded by rubbish - just scrub.

Thanks for the cache

While camping at sheepyard flat decided we were close enough to Mt Buller to finally nab the webcam and a few others.

No rubbish here. A quick walk and dropped just off the edge of the walking path. So close to the top now!

Thanks skullracing for the cache.

Having a caching day around Buller area.
It was a rainy and fog type of day.
That didn't stop us, just glad i didn't need to dig the cache out of the snow.

It's now time to head down off the mountain.
We when down the wrong track first, after a little bit of searching we found correct track and location.

Finally got to have a couple of days off so I headed up to Molesworth for a few days of R&R and caching.
After attending the dawn service at Boonie Doon I headed up to Mt Buller and was picking up caches as I go.
This is a great series to break up the drive up the mountain and to read all of the corner signs that you don’t take much notice off.
The last one in this great series and of course I picked the wrong track at first to go and look for it.
After looking up and down, side to side I soon picked the right track and finally added my name to the log.
A fav goes out to you for this fun series and for breaking up the drive up the mountain.
Thank skullracing TFTC.

16-Apr-19
We doubled back to get to this cache and then I had two choices of track to follow to get to GZ. Of course I took the wrong one before trying the other. The clue, including the spoiler didn’t mean anything on the first track I tried. Something dropped into place in my mind and I tried that area. Thank goodness I found it, as I was pretty tired by that time of the day and I would have lost heart. I was pleased I had found it.

22-Mar-19
Another cache in the corner series, a nice and easy find.

A huge weekend away, with over 2000km being driven over 3 days from Adelaide to Mansfield via swan hill and Echuca, then return via Bendigo and St Arnaud. The target was to collect 11 new local government areas and mostly stop and do some multis.

But the main goal was tour of Mansfield, a cycling tour consisting of 3 stages over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday).
Stage 1: 14km Individual time time trail.
Stage 2: 76km road race finishing up old Tolmie
Stage 3: 46km road race finishing up the top of mt bulla.

Wednesday I left Adelaide for Victoria via pinnaroo, I decided I would stop when I had enough of driving. I camped in the back of a cemetery yes a cemetery, nice and peaceful in Nyah. Thursday I made my way from Nyan to Mansfield via Swan Hill, Echuca and Shepparton with 2 trips over the boarder. A lot of DNFs on caches as some were barrow red off due to road works and others I must if stuffed up. I ended up camping the night in Mansfield. Friday I held my event in Mansfield with a big show of 1 (just myself)!!! And went for a drive up mt bulla. Saturday was mainly racing and Sunday after the race I made my way back to Adelaide via Victorias oldest cache and some new roads through the middle of victoria that I had never been on before.. With arrival on Monday at 1am back home. A big trip out and a great weekend away with a little under 100 finds.
Thanks for the cache placements by all the cache owners.

With holidays planned to freshen the mind before the Christmas rush, the family decided to camp out in the high country. We had never been in the Howqua region before and loved our time there camping along the river. We couldn't pass up a trip up to the mountain to see the sights and enjoy some caching while here.

We did spend some Sunday's at the tip as kids. Thankfully no tip here, just a cache which took me a few goes before finding the right spot.

**Thanks to skullracing for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

Epic! It’s all in the levels.. and we were NOT on the right level. Sigh. Took us a very very long time to have this cache in hand. But we got there in the end! Tftc

After a great couple of days in Melbourne for the Parkville Mega (Including a detour to Geelong for a wedding on Saturday, my first 100 in a day and my 2000th cache! ) Today I am caching again with the crew as we make our way (slowly) back to Goulburn / Canberra. Including the last few Mt Bulla caches we missed whilst we were in Victoria last year. Its Mega time ! Unfortunately after a great weekend of caching around Melbourne it was time to head home. After packing up the camp we headed off with a few choice caches in mind along the route home. After grabbing the WebCam up top, we headed down to grab the corner series plus others. This was a quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and then headed off to the next one.

Found on the 12/11/2018 at 10:37:00 AM

My third of a 9 day caching road-trip holiday. I had a couple of caches I was determined to find before making the last stretch to Melbourne, which took me away from the trails so my find total was a bit lower than I hoped. But the views from Mt Buller when the place isn't covered in snow were spectacular.

Thanks for the caches.

As I'd started off being 3 months behind in my logging I am desperately trying to catch up and am mass logging to do so. Red Face

My first time attending the Mount Buller event and I was so tired after getting home late from about 5 days in Melbourne that I didn't make it up to Mount Buller for the Friday night [)]SadSurprised
Still that meant that I cached up Saturday and I attended the 1 Cool event after finding 7 Smile caches on the way up Cool
With extremely sore hips and knees [xx(] and no Harry [xx(] to get out 4WDing in, my weekend exploration was very limited Sad Sunday I headed over with SciFiRulz and we did the webcam thing CoolRazz Then Monday before leaving I found the cache that is right at the back/front Wink of the lodge Smile Mind you, gmj3191 just would not let me do it on my own although I did hear that his 'support' was offered merely so that he could get another look at the view before also leaving Razz[:X]

I've finally managed to stop and find the last few of this corner series Cool

sushilord and Doctor Owl were on a mission to find caches in deepest darkest Victoria with the main aim of visiting challenge caches and working on requirements for a number of challenge caches in South Australia and Victoria. During the trip there were laughs, tears, fractious frustrations and new equipment tested with some technology failures. Many miles were covered and boxes opened along the way.

Another memorable stop: we went the right way initially then backtracked to the wrong path before deciding we needed to go back to where we started. It was nice to see a series of good sized caches and accurate coords taking us straight to GZ. Each one is worth a fav point for the great work and the views along the way.

Thanks for the cache skullracing.

With GPSr telling me it's down there 5m, I looked at my feet as to where to step and I spied the cache! Smile

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.

We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.

We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.

We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.

Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.

Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!

Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.

Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.

Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.

We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.

Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.

Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

While visiting Victoria for the Alexandra Event, we had time to pop up to Mt Buller for a visit. It was a very wet day on the mountain and we were often clouded in and rained upon. So the views were not great, but we did have geocaching fun! Smile

On the way up, we were stormed out by the lightening and thunder. Not so bad on the way down, and a much quicker find time!

Log signed & replaced again. Found at 11.45am on 17th November 2017. TFTC. skullracing
