Fabulous views as well.
Thanks for the cache BernieH.
A favourite point
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to BernieH for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

And it was so special to share it with just one other. <3 <3
With a fairly late start to the morning, catnap777 and I managed to avoid the dreary weather. We still couldn't see too much from the summit carpark, but with the wind trying to blow our jackets off us we knew the cloud cover would come and go quickly. As soon as we headed off the wind was not so fierce and walking up to the summit then along the ridge and down to GZ the clouds parted long enough to get a few glimpses of the top of the world. Just enough and make our jaws drop and ensure we come back to check it all out again as soon as we can.
TFTC Bernie. A wonderful walk in surreal surroundings that cat' and I will never forget.
Cache and contents found and returned in excellent condition and should hold fast for the upcoming winter.
This turned out to be a bit of a BernieH kind of day with this cache being my first cache found for the day (cat' put her name in a couple that I had already found) and we finished off by stumbling upon 2TF on your new ones down in Mansfield on the way home. [^]
I think this one rates as my favourite for the day. Love the scramble over rocks. Thank you BernieH for the fun .
After finding a spot to camp, we set up and lightened the load in the car, then headed up towards Buller.
After making it to the top of Buller, we headed further along. I hadnt expected the track to turn into a mountain goat death trap, but it did. Finally we made it down to the cache, and as day1976 had found it before, I had the honors of climbing around and signing it. Now for the climb back up! I wish I wore something with better pockets!
Nearly a year since it had been found.
After traversing down the sketchy hill and fumbling my way through to the vicinity of gz. Thankfully I stayed before and avoided going beyond to cache another day
Thanks BernieH for the cache.
Found at 9:22 am on 14/2/20.
Find # 2095
Fancy coming up the mountain looking for treasure and not reporting that find.
For the bananas after a particularly long search in all the wrong spots, the sweet spot was found.
Sweet.
And in a position where in mid winter all those Swiss and Italian ski instructors who can ski the steepest slopes, then stop on a threepence..... we took our time, both down, back across and safely out of there.
It was tough and could have only possibly been improved with a few choice Swiss or Italian words. The sort that you wouldn't use anywhere near your mum.
Thanks for the cache. Along with One Step Beyond it turned a tame walk to the top into more of an adventure.
While some of the family enjoyed the thrill of the ride down the MTB trails at Mt Buller, Ma and Pa Kettle and Kettle twin 2 set out for the summit and the possible cache finds for the day. Buoyed on by the success at One Step Beyond, we looked at the map on the phone for the next one. It didn’t appear too far away, but how to get there? It wasn’t long before a path was discovered and we were carefully stepping down. We actually missed GZ on the walk down but stopped there after walking quite a bit further along the ridge. So many places that it could be, but it wasn’t long before Kettle twin 2 came up with the goods.
Signed the log while taking in the magnificent views, then climbed back up to the top.
Two found, 13 more to go to complete the challenge. Thanks for bring us here.
This is a fairly easy find and walk in the summer/autumn season! I love the view and couldn’t get more of it!

Went up the hill
To walk a lower goat like track
New scrapes and bruises!
And a crushed right ankle,
But nothing beats, the signed cache log book!
TFTC! this was a magical place.
In some strange phenomena we reconnected as adults with a similar interest in the great outdoors and in some random act of luck we somehow both simultaneously discovered geocaching.
This brings me to this cache and the awesome adventure we had finding it.
We both attended an event up here at Mt Buller and both had this series on our hitlist.
So we left the lodge and hit the trails.
We walked through the town and up the hill to the summit where we both just sat in awe of the whole amazing view that cannot be bought or even captured by even the best digital phone camera.
This hike to here was a little challenging for both of us and being close to middle aged now but still in reasonable condition , lol , be both enjoyed the track and the cache find.
We sat and just remembered how damn good it was to be alive and lucky enough to have people likeminded to place awesome finds like this for us to trek too.
Thankyou very much for this cache
And to top it off this was only my first cache for today.
Now off to try top this find.
Thanks for the adventure.
After completing 12 types in a day we decided a short walk was in order and somehow converted this into several of the higher caches on the hill.
This was an EXTREMELY adventurous walk and to be honest I often felt like I would slide half way to Lake Eildon before I slowed down if I slipped. Amazingly though we made a fairly quick find (thanks to Mighty Minions) and then we were faced with the hike back up...
Somehow I avoided a stroke or a heart attack and instead had a fun walk taking almost constant photos. What a view! TNLN TFTC
Having made the drive from Alexandra to Mount Buller today, and then up to the summit, we couldn't resist heading on down to this one. During my previous visits to Mount Buller (pre gecoaching), I had never been along the west track. Obviously seeing the terrain rating, and the topo lines on the GPS, we knew it was going to be a little steep, and while it was in certain parts, the track took us down nicely to GZ. Once there, I headed low while the others came in high, and fortunately for me they spotted it as they approached the right spot. Fantastic little spot, and great views on display today.
Gratias BernieH.

About this cache:
What a great place for a cache, the view was amazing!!! Adding a photo of the cache and the views. It was an easy find thanks to the hint and the good coordinates.
Tftc, greetings from Norway
Thanks BernieH
The line of Timber Tops runners still kept coming also with their polite greetings. The track certainly got rougher with lots of loose rocks from the high traffic flow. Fortunately GZ was concealed enough for dahumbug to do the honours while I greeted the passers by. TFTC. Some more unloved
I'll return for the other two another time
Great location! TFTC
TNLN SL Enjoyed the view TFTC
Like previous hunters we made it to the cairn, before realising the proper direction. A slow treacherous descent, clinging at shrubs, avoiding the damp slippery rocks. The ham stopped after a short descent, and soon her shadow was lost high in the shifting fog as I continued down. The distance on the phone slowly ticked down and eventually GZ was reached, and the cache discovered soon after. And then it was back up...
Cheers Bernie
Think I had done what some previous searchers have, walked right past the West ridge track thinking I knew where it was going to be.
Once I got the first of the cairns I pulled out the phone to see I had gone too far but not by much, it was only 60mt away but 60mt away in this terrain could be hell.
I backtracked a few meters before looking hard at an alternative way along the contour, taking care with foot placement and poles to steady myself it was fairly easy to get across. I came across the West Ridge track as I was only a few meters from the cache, and didn't even think it was a track, just looked like an eroded part of the hill after some heavy rain.
Was only when I looked harder I realised it was the track.
With cache found and signed , it was off further along the ridge to Living on the Edge.
Took photos, LN , TFTC , Cheers.
Down there?! What a trudge! The views up here were amazing. Every one of these caches needs a fave point. Should have done a PT on the way up.
Loved it - pic attached of the ascent! Thanks Bernie!
After an awesome morning and a bit of a search for for something else in the middle of the day, it was now time to head for the summit before it got dark.
After reaching the summit, I decided that I needed to continue on a bit further as this one wasn't that far away.
As I was walking across the top, I was trying to work out the best way to get down to this one, I finally noticed the goat track and headed down to GZ .
I arrived and circled a round a little before finding the correct route to the cache.
Now for the hard slog back up.
**Thanks to BernieH for placing this cache.**
It took some work getting to GZ, but we enjoyed the 'path'. Speaking of which, we couldn't see any track up ahead, despite some lines on the map indicating otherwise. It was here that we realized it was not going to be such a simple hike.
Thanks, BernieH - your caches sure are challenging .
Been keen for a return trip to Mt Buller and as the weather this long weekend was looking to be the best on Sunday so myself and the missus returned with the focus on doing the summit caches.
This one as long stared me in the face while I study this map and was please to be able to make the hike along the west ridge today in great conditions. An awesome spot and impressive views thanks for bringing me here today. Discovered that the OSM map is wrong with were the track branches so we found ourselves having to follow the contour line across to GZ as we came at it too far from the west having done "One Step Beyond" first. OMG that track back up to the ridge line is so steep. Had to stop more then once to get the breath back. The missus wasn't please about our approach to this one but of all the caches we found today this was her favorite. This was the last cache found on the summit today as we had used up all our time and needed to start heading back. We will return another day to pick up the others further along the ridge.

I had been looking forward to this weekend for a while and had arranged for a couple of extra days off either end of the weekend to extend the time a little. The main aim was to attend the Buller Getaway and to grab some caches in the Stirling area as it was another area for the Victorian LGA Challenge.
After accomplishing most of what I wanted to do this weekend, it was almost time to start heading towards home, but not before hitting the summit of Buller and finding the caches on the way down the hill.
This one was quite a challenge getting down to GZ from where I stopped on the ridge. Wow!! what a spot to put a cache... Who would do that? Oh Yeah, Bernie would. Found the path on the way back to the summit. A favourite point for this one.
Thanks to BernieH for placing this cache. TNLN
On the morning after the event at a club lodge, Zeus offered me a lift to the upper carpark, which I eagerly accepted. We spent an enjoyable hour getting three caches up there. We avoided the ones out the West Ridge as mountain goat does not appear prominently in my genetic make-up.
But this one was gettable and not too exposed. I wouldn't mind returning in the winter with skis, but this hide would surely be buried then.

While stumbling down the gully, I had a little read through the previous logs when I realised that Anna was heading straight for the place where Day almost killed himself. Hmm ... do I say something? ... naahhh ... she'll be right mate.
Obviously I took a more scenic route just to end up spot on at the coords. That was an easy find which fortunately ended without fatalities in our party.
I still haven't told Anna about Day's log. I probably should keep that to myself.
Thanks and Cheers

Steep little track that one is!
Found without too much difficulty.
Thanks Bernie.
My plan was to go all the way out to skullracing’s, “Living on the Edge” cache first and then cache my way back again. On my way out though I couldn’t spot any disguisable path leading along the ridge, my GPSr had frozen and still had me back near the Buller summit but I figured I roughly k new the direction I needed to go. So I stepped out on to the rocky ridge, with massively steep cliffs on either side I rock hopped along the ridgeline, waiting for my GPSr to finally figure out where exactly it was.
I found myself at a point slightly to the west of this cache (I couldn’t see the path from where I stood) there is a point here where the ridge drops away sharply in every direction. As I tried to navigate my way down this steep slope, a rock that I was using to support myself broke free. I slipped about two meters downs the cliff face and banged my shin on the rock below. Fortunately I was able to arrest my fall by grabbing the rock that I had banged my shin on with my hand. It was sharp and dug into my palm, but I wasn’t about to let go!
I looked down the very steep slope and was immediately glad I had been able to stop myself, because if I hadn’t I couldn’t see where I would have ended up otherwise. It was a VERY long way down.
After I pulled myself up again I resorted to turning my GPSr off and then back on again. Of course it was able to find its position exactly and placed me about 30 meters west of the track, near to where this cache is. I gingerly manoeuvred my way over and soon spotted the track that I was supposed to be on. Once this had been completed I continued on my way out to “Living on the Edge” and then cached my way back to this one.
Coming back, the track was a lot easier to spot and once I was near GZ, the cache was a very easy find. A little too easy as it was a bit exposed. I signed the log book and replaced it with a bit of extra rock camo.
Thanks Bernie, a great spot for a cache and despite your best efforts, I live to cache another day.
Thanks again BernieH
This was the only cache we had time for today and very happy that we made the find. Not game to venture further down hill so after taking in the view it was back up hill for us

[green] Freaking steep![/green]
I’ve been planning to come up to Mount Buller to attempt the new caches on West Ridge for some time and when Little Buller Spur cache got published that was all the incentive needed. The weather map showed Sunday as the best day but in reality I would have been better coming up the day before, because today the mountain was engulfed in a thick cloud cover that made finding the Summit car park a challenge in itself. Once there it was a quick decision to attempt Little Buller Spur cache first and hope the strong wind would clear the cloud before attempting the steep West Ridge.
After returning to the car for a brief break it was time to tackle this cache. The weather hadn’t improved in fact it was worse as I approached the summit. Man I don’t remember the West Ridge being so steep, much prefer heading up a steep slope. Needless to say it was a very slow decent in thick fog, at least I still had the track of last years accent up the ridge still in the GPSr to show me the way.
GZ was very exposed to the wind today so I was very grateful for a quick find. Precariously perched on a rocky knoll the log was signed and I was soon on my further down the Ridge to the next cache.
Thx Bernie a fantastic location for a cache, really enjoyed the challenge

Fantastic day up at Mt Buller. I had planned to go up today to do some work at our lodge, and was lucky enough to see eight new caches published up there last night. Also planned to look for the archived One Step by Derringer. All this was made even better by bumping into BernieH near the start.
After Bernie left I completed my work at the lodge and decided to set out after this other new one along the West Ridge Track, which coincidentally, had been placed by Bernie a week or so ago.
I walked up the summit, getting a bit puffed along the way, and checked out my Summit cache. Then I kept going out past the Fire Observation Hut along the precarious ridge line.
I had thought the cache was located past Derringers cache, and so I missed taking the West Ridge Track exit from the top ridge. Reaching the end and looking at my GPS, I discovered my error and descended down the ridge line with the objective of intersecting the correct track along the side of the ridge but below the top.
Although this plan worked out for me, it was quite serious at times and I was very conscious that I was alone, although my wife knew to call out the dogs if I didn't call her within a reasonable time. I eventually found the West Ridge Track which was a bit rougher than I was expecting, and then I found the cache, which was fantastic.
I love these dramatic caches with spectacular views and Bernie has done a great job with one. The neat little log book is housed in an industrially strong zip lock bag with a desiccant pack, and the cache is very strong and waterproof.
A clear favourite for me.
Thanks BernieH.
