Found a hole. Not sure if the right one, but nothing

26-Jun-22
After finding 9 caches I really wanted to get a nice round number tonight, and this was on the way home. Parked up and GeohoundandI went slightly ahead of me, and then right on the edge of the water she shouted out that a massive, massive rat was swimming faster than Sophie Pascoe towards us. She decided to stay well back and let me try to poke around under the bridge. Not a fan of rats unless they are flat in a trap, so I gave up pretty quickly.

26-Jun-22
We came to look for this cache on our way home. As we got close to gz a massive rat was swimming at us and then vanished into a hole. Wasn't to eager to stick my hand in any holes at that point so we decided to give up.

Day out with Keyley, Iceman and an old Team SEAC member! The task to day was to clear our this park and get those numbers as much as we could! Crazy productive!

Oh lord, once again, someone decided to take a dump here. It was completely disgusting! Luckily Keylev came to the rescue as she's found this in the past and soon dug out the goods. There was no log but I've replaced it with a fresh sheet.

Well we had to pick our moment as there were a few muggles parked up here with their geo-hounds and we did not want to look too suspicious. We seized our moment and soon had the cache

Found on my trip north enjoying the caches in the area. Good weather today

22-Jun-19
Only a few cars in the carpark so wandered around to GZ. Made a nice quick find. Tide was in & water very glassy. Recalled all the journeys made over this bridge as it was the main road north back in the day. First time l had actually set foot near it. TFTC Big Grin

09-Jun-19
Headed up to Auckland to carry on working on those caches in the northern parts to see if there were a few that I could find before there were too many people about that would make me want to head back home to the quieter parts of the country. It was still well dark when I left as as it was only myself I got to listen to the cricket without Mrs Dragon telling me to change the station, ah bliss.

As I knew I would be early for my real objective, I took a bit of a circuitous route to Wenderholm Regional Park as I wanted to be there early as generally that was when it was quietest and the best light to be out walking in. Signed the caches CD (aka Cats&Dragons) to save space in many of the logs. Managed a grand total of 43 finds for the morning which I was quite pleased with.

Nice and early here so no-one about to worry about how the car was parked. Road was nice and quiet as was the parking location, cache just where it was meant to be.
Thank you to all the CO's for their hard work in making this day possible, in both the placing the caches and maintaining them.

#757 overall and #1 this morning at 12am. I was sitting here under the bridge, holding the cache, waiting for the clock to strike 12 midnight, as part of a personal challenge to get as many caches as I could in one calendar day - this was the first one. The moon was full, and it was a beautiful night with no wind. The clock struck midnight, I signed the log and replaced the cache, and ran back to the car. Copy / paste online log follows...
_______

My mission today was to attempt to get 200 caches in one day. I had everything ready that I needed - food and water, headlamp and spare batteries, power bank and cable, pens, pre-printed log labels (to save time logging), towels in the car so it didn't get dirty, overalls, hi-viz, tweezers, gloves and trackables. Started in Waiwera at midnight with the plan to get Route 66 and 101 Dalmations (sic) plus a few others that were on the way.

Unfortunately, at 1:39am after only 14 caches found, my car decided that it didn't want to start. This was a shock because in the six and a half years I have owned my car, it has never even once given me a single problem. I had zero desire to get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night in a car that won't start, and I wasn't prepared to leave my car running between caches because it's quite loud.

So after ten minutes when I finally managed to get my car started again, I abandoned the plan and drove home. I was gutted because it was the perfect temperature outside, there was no wind and barely any clouds, and a full moon, and I was having a really good time. Oh well, at least I quit because of something outside of my control, rather than giving up.

Thanks to cache owners for all the caches. Maybe I'll complete the rest of Route 66 one day. And now it's 3am and I'm wide awake... grrrrrrr

Quick find on the way back to Auckland. TFTC

16-Mar-19
I'm up in Whangarei visiting my parents for one last time before I head over to the UK for the foreseeable future - however they are currently on their last leg of their south island tour, so actually aren't home at the moment, so I've got some time on my hands.

Woke up early this morning and after a quick look out of window into the darkness at the weather, I decided that I would head down Waiwera/Kaukapakapa way, to collect some caches in the Route 66 series.

Pulled up here amongst the still sleeping freedom campers - come on its bloody 10am, get up and enjoy the day! A quick find here again. TFTC

Had an urgent call for advice from son on the weekend about a car he was looking at in Silverdale, which he wanted to purchase. Father's advice to pass on it was ignored however, so today it was a quick visit on a pickup run. His excuse for getting me to drive him down, was that at least I could get some more caches toward the hidden creatures souvenirs, which is one thing I was happy about.

Stopped off here on the way home and spent a good few minutes under the bridge on both sides of the road before finally locating the pesky little cache. Signed log and replaced safe and secure as found. TFTC

22-May-18
Like others before me I too read the previous logs before finding this one. Under the bridge the sound of the traffic overhead is quite something!
Thanks G_2 for the geocache!

We were on our way home after a weekend camping at Wenderholm with Stik-a-crane. Mr Stik-a-crane had briefly tried to find this cache yesterday with no luck so we stopped in here to try and turn it into a smiley. After searching in many possible places, and some not so possible (with 7 sets of eyes and fingers), we resorted to reading previous logs. As Mrs HeMaLuDy read one out Mr Stik-a-crane had a lightbulb moment and soon had the cache in hand. Clever cache here. Found with stik-a-crane, eir-ot, darthcacher1 and purply

Our first full day in New Zealand. We packed up the rental car and headed north to get out of the big city and practice driving on the 'other' side of the road with less distractions. Stopped at rest areas, view points and other places to look around and try to find a cache. Enjoyed the day and the caches.

Our first full day in New Zealand. We headed north to get out of Auckland and let VikingNav get some much needed practice driving on the left. A little scary at times, but he is getting the hang of it again. We enjoyed our stops at rest areas, overviews, pull-offs, and beautiful parks/beaches along the way to have a look at the scenery and try to find a cache or two. Thanks for the fun cache! Greetings from Minnesota, USA. >^..^

After a great walk at Wenderholm with Jag50 and Aiden29 we decided we had time to grab the Waiwera caches before heading to Orewa for an icecream. Aiden and I took the hard way to this from the bridge and thankfully this didn't take too long to find as that sun was really beating down on us.

02-Jan-18
Another gorgeous day to spend out geocaching with merlot58 and Jag50. Today we decided to target Wenderholm and since we finished early we continued to Waiwera. Wasn't in the obvious place but located nearby.

After heading off the Route 66 trail, and finding civilization again, there was time for one more before a drive . . . . . with no stopping, for caches. T F T C G--2

Just under 4 hours total to do the series, caching on my own and driving, navigating, glasses on and off all the time, not too bad an effort and great views along the route, thanks for bringing me down here.

A few years ago I had an operation on my feet and was laid up in bed for a long time, too long. Being a geocacher I re-invested this time in solving a few puzzles here and there to while away the time. Among those puzzles were the Route 66 series which I hoped to one day find if I was ever in the area, with wheels and with time to spare. This weekend is that time and I vowed to improve my current May 13th total of 2 finds on this date to better. When I've finished logging it will be a nice round 100-day!
Managed to get on the road nice and early after breakfast and increased my Rosmar finds from a paltry previous 4 to a healthy 70-plus!
I know Green Day are playing the city this weekend but today was my own version of a Green day; converting green boxes (and blue puzzles) to positive smiley faces of joy and success. I was even done by 4pm after a trip after lunch out to Shakespeare Park out Whangaparoa way and a pleasant stroll around on this wonderful sunny day. I used the hints (where they were provided) to help me with a good rate of success today. There were quite a few quarry trucks around for the first hour or so and I feared a dangerous day but after I passed the quarry I never saw another one, phew! Apologies (in advance) for the cut and paste logs but hard to remember all stories on a power trail. Even saw a Route 66 plaque on the fence at one GZ. Gotta go out and make another big day out tomorrow as well, yay.
Oh and today was landmark reaching day too, with my finds total going past a mighty 7000 finds, thanks to all CO s who helped achieve this especially rosmar

Came up here today with my sister and her son, Treye, from Australia, and his girlfriend, Trang, and my son Tim and Master SethRaven. We did encounter a few showers of rain but we walked the length of the beach and then we nabbed a few caches. We stopped for this one on our way back to Papakura . . . . . and it had us going for a wee while . . . . . . and just as we were about to go back to the car, I asked Tim to check "under there" . . . . . and OM goodness - there it was Big GrinBig Grin WOOHOO . . . . . . Was out with Jard1037 & RustyNZ doing the Route 66 Series and stopped here to do this traditional and add to our collection. A very wet and drizzly day, and our last cache for today. We were looking forward to going home for a hot shower, but were running late for another appointment so headed home to get changed and then out again.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a flying visit to Northland with the intention of finding very old caches and anything else that is within short walking distance of the vehicle. The gloomy, black sky is an indication that rain is only a minute away...

Back on the trail after breakfast... We were looking for a profound hide at this location. It's funny how this CO's hides always keep you on your toes. You never know what you're going to get... There were lots of possibilities here. It took a couple of sweeps for us to find this one. TFTC.

09-Jul-16
The Squirrel and my plans for the weekend was to log as many old caches as possible to go towards completing another challenge. This meant a lot of kilometres driving and a bit of forward planning and plus collect as many other caches as we could. The plan was to travel to KawaKawa Bay and stay at Hemi's uncles home.
Early start Saturday morning with our goal to get to KawaKawa. Google tells me its 266 Kilometres one way, but with caching who knows how many km's it will be.
Left Rotorua after work on Friday with a stop for dinner (Cambridge Roast House). Next stop Huntly for a coffee and a chat with fellow cachers, then on to KawaKawa Bay. No caches done on this leg.
Early start Saturday morning to achieve our goal.

8.05am - Couple of possible spots this one could be. Quickess find and on our way. SLTFTC

#2416. Catching up on a weeks worth of cache logs as I haven't been near the internet in that time. This was the fourth stop as we headed north to attend a meeting up at Tawharanui. Pulled up at the carpark and decided to walk under the bridge by the estuary rather than cross the highway. The map on the GPS suggested the cache was hidden under the bridge or on the far side. Inspected quite a few spots under the bridge without any success. Upon coming out into the open the GPS was now suggesting I was at the GZ so looked down at my feet and saw a likely hiding spot. The cache was tucked away there. The logbook was damp but managed to sign it and replace the cache as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here.

12-Feb-16
I parked nearby, under the shade and ate a late lunch. Then walked out to the road, and spotted the a map for Wenderholm, and a plaque to commemorate the opening of the bridge!

The tide is out, its hot, but caching must go on Big Grin Quickly found and retrieved from its hiding place, it was time to chase the FTF on the other side, its only been 4 days, so not really a big chase. Thanks for the hide and bringing me here, I remember the old bridge, so long ago!

Merry Xmas!!

Headed to Wenderholm with the family for Christmas Lunch, and bonus for me was that there is a bunch of caches I can go and find. Turns out we weren't the only one with this idea as the place was muggle central, but with everyone more interested in their Christmas activities it made finding the geocaches here a little more easily. Grabbed a few of the closer ones while it was still a little bit quite and after lunch went for a walk with the old man to have a go for the finds on the hill. A great day was had with all caches being found. A big thanks to all the CO's for the hides.

On the way home so decided to get the last few in the area. Managed to park nearby and a small search revealed the hide.

30-Nov-15
I visited this cache with a group of ten students and a muggle teacher from St John’s College in Hamilton as part of their camp week. Over four days and three nights we visited Orewa, Whangaparoa, Waiwera, Whangarei, Paihia, Waitangi and Russel. We generally signed the logs SJC GEO Camp to save each student needing to sign the log. The boys literally ran from Geocache to Geocache trying to beat each other to the find. By the second to last day they had all at least found one cache each. They all seemed to enjoy the experience and hopefully will decide to keep Geocaching as a consequence. We found a great variety of caches in some amazing spots. A huge thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining all the caches we found.

This was the last find of day one. We took the boys to Waiwera to enjoy a soak in the hot pools and some fun on the hydro slides after spending the day exploring Orewa and Whangaparoa's Shakespear reserve and called in here on our way home.

After a day at Wenderholm and a soak at Waiwera hot pools we decided to make this our last cache of the day. We started by taking the high road, only to realise we needed to be at a different level. took an alternative path down and Kapitikid #2 made the find in quick smart time! Had lots of fun here in the north, even if the sun refused to show itself. TFTC!

Out and about on a splendid Autumn day for a spot of geocaching North of Auckland. On the return leg now. Again, took this cache as a good excuse to stop and stretch my legs. Parked up near GZ and made my way to the bridge. For some reason I thought it would be a micro and I wasn't having much luck. Had a read of the cache page and realised my mistake. Well, based on the hint, it has to be here in this spot I already checked...got it! Cache was wedged in tight and partially buried but I was able to claim my prize. Cheers for the hide!

Parked the campervan for the breakfast. When hubby was dishing the table I went for the cache. The GPS wanted to have me at the end of the road, but I couldn't find it, so went back.
We had our breakfast and after the breakfast hubby went also for a look. When arriving GZ, hubby said: "did you look there "........uhmmm there it was
Interesting to see the tyres to catch up any movements
