Will check within the next week

Completely stumped us. Read previous logs and thought we had the exact idea but to no avail. Hunted around for about an hour along the bank and down in the mangroves (low tide) would love confirmation it is still there...

6pm of streak day #35

Back out today with the confirmation last month from CO that the hide is indeed at the posted co ords. But after another hour, and this time with a low tide where I could add a different perspective, I still got absolutely nuttin. I can't believe it. Bloody Monday caching!

19-Oct-16
I am not getting any sense that the posted coords are putting me in the right place (even though there is a well worn geotrail here) just getting a big fat zero here from my geosense. After expanding the search, I like a spot further up which I am getting excellent vibes from (also has well worn geotrail) and gels more with the cache description and hint so I spent about 3/4 hour there this morning looking at various levels ..but alas it eludes me! I have contacted the CO for confirmation that I am more in the right place over "here" as opposed to over "there" at posted coords. I notice that the coords have been moved in the past but my feels are they didn't move near enough. Obviously being a D4 this is not easy but if you feel your starting point is out, makes it more a D6 ;-D I'll be back with the kids for this one.

My goodness this is devious! Guessed the hiding place immediately but the retrieve was a mission! Used one member of our group as a TOTT and used a second to make the retrieve. We took a slightly different approach to traditional fushing but it was effective! A higher tide would have helped though as the track through the mangroves was VERY muddy at low tide. FP for a fun experience and a somewhat rare D:T combo. Cheers.

I am house sitting in the area so I am going to try to find all of the nearby caches. Big Grin
The 2 poodles I am looking after love walking along here. Smile
So the other day I checked out this cache and worked out what I needed. Wink
So today I came past and found the cache. [^] A fav point as well.
Thanks for the cache.

Searched for an hour in the mangroves looked up trees and dodged lots of dog poop. But still no luck.

09-Apr-16
Can't find it after about an hour of searching...

28-Feb-16
Low tide, but this did not help. So maybe looking up would help?

Have you heard about the one that got away?

We I'm sure you have but there is a new one ready to be caught

10-Dec-15
Again but this time with tools

Lost a few first due to heavy resistance then managed to retrieve those plus a lot that I wasn't owner of - so it looks as though there may have been a few more visitors than logs.

Eventually bailed after -4 (+4 retrieved) so ended up frustrated but even.

Might bring a chain next time so confirmation of latency/ accessibility would be welcome

20-Aug-15
No tools - no ( or just a few) ideas
Will come back

17-Apr-15
Didn't find this one.

Read the clue & the comments but still none the wiser?

I think I may have looked in the same hole as barefootjeff. If so
full of water and home to a "smallish" Huntsman.

06-Jan-15
After having previously visited the site and rereading the description, hint and logs, I'd formed a pretty good idea of where this was likely to be. So, armed with what I thought was an appropriate fushing tool, I set forth in the company of Muggless who was visiting from Sydney.

Unfortunately my theory didn't hold water, although one of the places I looked appeared to be holding too much. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

06-Jan-15
barefootjeff hadn't actually mentioned we were going to do this one until we were on our way so I didn't have much background (such as description and log), nor sufficient fushing gear. We improvised a little and gathered some intel, but the only fush we saw was lunch.

We'll be back...

Fushing has never been my thing and it must run in the family because it took 3 visits for Mumma-Kel and me to get the right gear to entice the fush to start biting. Since she's younger and nimbler than me, Mumma-Kel got to do all the hard yards on each of our fushing trips ... my role was simply to add some intellectual capacity to the exercise, to distract the muggles, and to pick up the pieces if something went wrong. Fortunately, I had only to do the first two before Kel was able to finally pull in a lovely geofush. Since it's all about the journey not the destination, the catch was naturally returned to the wild after being tagged.

Thanks for quite a challenge, bella@waggy ... it really was quite fun, sort of!

I've never been much of q fusher-person, and for the first time ever actually wanted to go fushing. My first visit was to suss out the area, but it took a little while for me to realise what fushing equipment I'd need. Yesterday I had equipped myself with what I felt necessary and rang Opa-Bob..."Chuck yer jandles on bro, we're goin fushin'" but, for all our efforts And patience yhe fush just wouldn't bite. A couple of calls the the cuzzies for advice had me with a few alterations to my fushing tools in mind and another friendly neighbourhood geo-fusher offered to meet me today to assist. Today I had with me different fushing tools, both bigger in magnitude than my previous effort. Arriving on site a few minutes before my help, I decides to try my luck while I waited. I cast the line out and when before I knew it had snagged ssomething...went to reel it in and just as my catch was about to reeach the surface a huge group of muggle walkers passed by - don't mind me, I'm just fushing. With the group in the distance I hoiked myself into a better position to reel in the line? Surprising myself when I found the big one attached to the end. And I didn't even need my beautifully fashioned homemade tott, just the basics. As I logged my find, my help arrived, rod in hand, but pleased to see I'd already hooked the fush I wanted. I double-bagged the guts of the fush, but, as he was undersize ,I threw him back in. Thanks for a fun cache Bella@Waggy Smile

06-Nov-14
No fush biting today. I think maybe they didn't like my bait. On the advice of multiple PAFs (I thought I was going insane) I figure my fushing equipment requires some modification. I will return for the Friday Fush instead.

30-Oct-14
I came, I climbed, I shook, I rang a former dnfer who had contacted the CO, I left as I didn't have the correct tool...

14-Sep-14
Quick find with jendid, but had to walk back to the cars to get an extra special tool. Jendid hadn't seen one of these before so it was a great experience for her.

TFTC Smile

Well all I can say is thank you PK.. Today I learnt something very valuable about Fushing. What a fun cache. TY. Wink

Getting to windy for us to continue our search Sad will be back!

Finally, we were back in the area to get our smilie. This was the first place I checked when we came last time. Even though I stuck fingers in the hidey hole last time it wasn't enough to flush it out. This time, armed with the same TOTT that I already had on me the first time ( duh), we set about our retrieval. It still took about 15 mins due to so many muggles out on this glorious day, but nevertheless, it is one previous DNF we can tick off the list! Thanks BAW

21-Apr-14
21/04/14. 7:33 AM. Argh! 2nd DNF for the day; came here after finding Swimmer down the road; I was now up to 2 finds and 2 DNFs and the morning didn't get much better after that (5 out of 9 in total). Straight away found the search area and a small tool that I thought was the ugly stik. Read logs about climbing, tried the trees. Nothing. One more try of the structure and then had a theory of how this needs to be found, but I didn't have the required TOT with me. Emailed the CO who got back to me when I was at my next location (Road Ends). I learned that I had been close but not right, and there was something different that I'd need than what I'd been thinking of. I didn't have this other thing either, so will be back another day.

18-Apr-14
Uggh, brought my fishing gear, however, seems the bait was too strong and I needed a stronger sinker. Will be back eventually to jag this little fish.
[red]DNF...Could Not Find It on this fine Saturday ... at 10:58 AM ... Sad[/red]

Tftc well we were here for ages trying to find it... looked everywhere high and low then went back to the clue definitely no need for waves some high tec equipment for retrieval was handy great hide

30-Mar-14
Being a lovely day thought we might attempt this one. Having 4 heads to think about this one we combined our ideas and came up with the right answer. Many looks at old logs and thank goodness we had a ugly stick. But the platform to fish from was quiet wobbly.

29-Mar-14
Well what a search this one turned out to be. Four of us looking and climbing. Finally amglenn climbed and climbed then was handed an ugly stick and retrieved the cache. The hint does say it all.

07-Mar-14
Will have to come back for this one...looked everywhere we could think of and used the manual (not that we have any high-tech TOTT!)...found lots of crabs but no container Sad

07-Mar-14
Mumma-Kel had read about this one and as it seems to be a tricky one, she just wanted to do a quick recce today. She had no intention of looking for it but, as you do, we did ... and guess what, no luck. We looked high and low and saw nothing that resembled a fushing spot, even a New Zealand one. Frustrated, we decided, as per our original plan, to leave it for another day.

Found on a trip up to Killcare with my friend who owns a cottage nearby. Ran into two other guys looking for this same one, and joined forces. We had two locals, a guy from from Belgium, and me from the US! So cool how geocaching brings everyone together. Really creative hide and quite a challenge. Thanks so much for the fun!

15-Feb-14
Found 1:45 pm with a geocacher from Belgium and met another from Ohio US. I had to back and grab a tool and that's when we ran into the cachet from Ohio. Good cache. A favourite.

15-Feb-14
TFTC.

Along with my new Australian geocache friend today some cache wanted
This was the coolest of the day, giving us an extra walk back to the car and back for an extra tool
on the road we came across another geocacher against from Ohio.
Together went on to the cache and we could catch him.
TFTC.

What a ripper. Nearly a tale of the one that got away. GZ Easy enough. Low tide so thought luck is in. Little concerned about difficulty but like all good anglers was optimistic. Thought I knew my prey! Searched high and low. Resorted to reading the manual. Impressed by the gear earlier cachers required. (But a bit worried if they sneak up on their prey armed with THAT! ) I returned to the geomobile for a more basic bit of kit. Then patience and jiggling paid dividends. Just as the rain started the fish finally took the bait. Great cache. Great spot. Good Challenge. Thanks

An early morning kayak paddle from Ettalong wharf to Hardys Bay brought us here. But after much searching we had to walk away and kayak back to Ettalong with no smilie. Bugger! Will be back some day.

MrsFish has been urging me to create a cache exactly like this, so I'll never hear the end of that. From the cache description we were fairly sure how it would be hidden, and after rigging our plan we had the cache retrieved and logged within 5 minutes, it all worked perfectly. The coordinates at GZ are now very accurate too. Thanks for a great hide, we really liked this one, definitely a favourite. The only problem was the small group of walkers who must have thought I was an idiot with the equipment I had in that most unlikely place.

I drive to Gosford to pick thing up ... quick go there to found cache then zoom to home... thank...

First on the scene, but not FTF. Met Wests Tigers Fan, and together we found that the difficulty rating on this one is living up to it's name. Was hoping to meet other cachers, even just so I could sign a log today (my second no find today). Disappointed, but happy to spend a couple of hours in a nice spot.

06-Jan-14
Arrived at the GZ after dropping everything and rushing to the site. Found barrelledover already at the gz and was surpised that I was the second person there. Spent a long time loking for this one but to no avail. A local landcare member who was working 100m down the track came and asked what we were up to. Some quick thinking came up with a story of a mate who had lost a key ring here which was very dear to him (I'm sure she thought I was crazy).

I know the description says you don't need to get your feet wet but that didn't stop me from being in water up to just below my waist. After the excitement of arriving upon the scene to find that a FTF was still a possible option, it was tough to walk away from this one without a find. A comprehensive search of the GZ and the extended area but apparently not comprehensive enough.
Thanks for the hide.
Cheers

Well where do i start saw this one published around 1400 but due to a prior commitment was unable to have a look till late this afternoon walking toward the gz we heard a whistle from behind us which was jfindit also walking up behind us, on arrival at the gz we were met by mrnoo and his dad who had already begun the hunt, joining together in an attempt to locate the prize we all searched for some time and reviewing the clue we came up with a location that was approx 14/16m from the stated coord, using high tech equipment (see picture) and a bit of agility by mrnoo we came up with the goods in the end thanks for the hunt and thanks to those also that were there for an enjoyable time

An excellent JOINT FTF!!!!! Saw this 13min after it had been published, however, wasn't able to make it down here as my ride had gone out for the afternoon. When he came back, I checked the listing expecting about 5 people to have found it, but alas, just iriblit's published log! Yes! I might have a hope. Started searching immediately at a gz that matched the clue not the gps as it had been laggy and slow. After about 15-20min, we heard "OI! What are you doing?" Geodad was in the tree and me climbing other things, pretending to be admiring the veiw thinking that I had been spotted by a muggle. But when I turned around there stood jfindit and Xphenoms! After a good catch up, and watching Xphenoms attack the grass with a metal detector, we all joined in, slowly moving from the coords to where I had originally assumed the hide was. However the spot was looking increasingly unlikely until we spotted a slight difference... With some effort and the high tech equipment, and a contribution from everyone, we were able to extract the crafty fella. Good stuff Bella at Waggy, TFTC!!!!

Well done to the FTFers

Will check the co-ords (we took 115 readings but then again our GPSr is a little old and does not like the trees

The hint should help with the location

Got a SMS from the xPhenoms about a new cache in the area late this afternoon, But because they and I had commitments else where I would leave it until tomorrow. Thought the Fish would be right on the spot. After finishing my business in Budgewoi and scrabbling around trying to buy the Geo Daughter a chocolate birthday cake. Decided to drive home that way and have a look. Thinking it would be a quick find Ha Ha. Started walking up the track and spied the xPhenoms caught up almost at the GZ. Where we came across two strange characters one up a tree pretending to be Robinson Crusoe and the other one trying to be invisible. it didn't work mrnoo17 and Dad. So we joined forces and swept the target area with high tech gear Metal Detectors, Video Camera Probes, Extendable magnetic probes. The only thing missing was the Sniffer dog she was at home. Felt for a moment I was in A.S.I.O Even with the Coord's being a bit out am going to award a favourite for this one. Well done Bella. Great cache. TFTC

Coordinates changed from:
S 33° 31.379 E 151° 21.070

Coordinates changed to:
S 33° 31.378 E 151° 21.070

Distance from original: 5.8 feet or 1.8 meters.
New set of batteries and a different set of averaged co-ords (the magellan still only managed 6m accuracy at best).

You should be able to access this one from the shore.

The landcare group has been in the area. No need to disturb the new plantings
