Today we headed up Mt Wellington to tackle the first 12 caches on the Thark track. We arrived at the nearby parking at 11.45am so decided to have an early lunch and then head off.Really enjoyed the walk and the rock hopping to the final of the 12 caches. Then the fun began as we cached our way back to the car. We ended up skipping one of the hides as I was all rock hopped out and it was 90m uphill from the trail. Other than that one all caches were found safe and sound. No snakes spotted but we did see a kazillion lizards. We thought the weather was going to be drizzle all afternoon but the clouds dispersed and we were hit with the searing Tassie sun. Sun burnt necks for both of us as the sunscreen was in the car .This was a nice quick find. TFTC
A great day out with the wife and kids for extra searching capability and banter on what at first was looking pretty grim weather wise but we were rewarded for taking a chance as it cleared up and the rain stayed away for the time we were out. We managed the first few in the Thark ridge series with firm plans to come back for the rest when we get a better day. Shout out to Zozetta who came along as well and while she had already found them was great company on the trail. TFTC
The caches along the Thark Ridge Track have been on our to-do list for quite some time, so today Zozetta and I decided to try and find some of them. The weather was perfect for doing the walk, blue skies, no wind and a bit of sun in some places as well. In total we found eleven caches, leaving the car at 10:00 and getting back at 13:40. We saw what felt like thousands of skinks, plenty of bumblebees and one white lipped snake. We saw the item mentioned in the hint from the track and it was a quick find. Thanks for the cache Barad Bunch!
We did a circuit walk on and off track and on our return leg we found a few caches. This was the second. TFTC.
Up in Brisbane there is a challenge cache where you have to find 10 caches above 1000m on a TUESDAY! Knowing I would be down here in Tassie on a Tuesday, I made sure to reserve this day to visit kunanyi. What better place to collect the caches I needed. Of course I had already found the easy ones on previous visits which left this trail of Thark ones. The not so easy ones!Seriously! Why is it that you can walk for a while and not come across a single muggle, then as soon as you wander off track to find a cache, they magically appear!? I heard them coming and didnt know what to do! So just squatted down with the cache and pretended I wasnt there Of course this was ridiculous as I certainly wasnt wearing my ghillie suit today. Nope! I thought rainbow hat, bright red shirt and a bright blue packback would be the go Anyhoo! They passed without a mention (hopefully without thinking I was crouched down for other reasons ) and I was able to finish leaving my autograph on the log in peace! Thanks for the cache Barad Bunch Happy to part with a FP here for the track refurbishment
Wow what a day, at 5am the alarm went off and the day began. Mr T met up with goose & SSR and we made our way to Betts Road, parked and we were driven to the top by Membsec. We met up with the others at 8am, Mr_Johna, KingSmev, EeePees, Budgietas, TeamSwampy, Jabs and Zozetta for part of the walk and headed off to the event. We found some caches along the way and this was one of them.
To start the track was reasonably good, but as time went by the terrain became a little more difficult. The company was great and we all had a good time in challenging conditions. Near the end of the track we encountered steep sections, up and down as we descended down from the mountain.
A great day out, blue sky’s until the end of the day where we all got wet but dried out when the sun came out as we headed to the car park. A 13.5 hour trek, arriving back at the cars in the dark, All logs signed Team Tassie.

In Tasmania for 2 weeks to attend the Oceania Orienteering Champs. Caching all around for DT combos and counties. Perfect weather this afternoon for this walk - sunny, warm and windless. Just over an hour to Thark Ridge with one stop. An hour and a half back to the car, finding all the caches on the way. Cache easily found thanks to the hint. TFTC.

Waiting for a day that's around 26 - 30oC so i can come up to Mount Wellington and go on a big walk to grab (hopefully) the rest of this 'Thark' series of hides and the 'Wellington Peaks E' hide also.
The weather decided to play-ball and i was eager to take advantage of it before it possibly caves in this afternoon (Possible Storm [:o]) so with water and other hike related things in my Caching - Shoulder bag i set off.
The sun was shining and the winds were light. It was a pleasant 21oC as i arrived, bewdiful! [^]
Found this one without the hint coz the co-ords were dead-on!
Nice weather-protection around this cache and it yielded dry contents and also a "travel racer" car tb. Took that to move him along and SL at 12:10 on Wednesday 1 December 2021.

With accurate coords, i honed in on this cache super quick the day before yesterday while out on my epic wellington adventure.
Something caught my eye and it turned out to be the cache!
Thanks barad bunch for adding to the thark series!
Found sometime around midday.

Nice caches out here along this trail to guide the way. More spot on coords here to make this a nice easy job. Meandered along here checking out the new area after exploring Lost World earlier in the day. Tftc
My first walk on the mountain for ages, and a beautiful day for it.
Thanks for the simple placement.

Today we decided to tackle the Thark Ridge walk and the associated caches. Thanks to the people for the reconstruction of the track. Our feet definitely remained dry. A hell of a lot of work. Anyway to the cache, once our GPS settled, we found a possible spot and soon had the cache. TFTC
Definitely the best way to have fun with the caches on this trail is to collect them on the return leg. I will admit that it would be better to collect them on the way out if you are being picked up by helicopter at the end and then skydiving into a winery with a hot-tub while drinking a martini and wearing a white tuxedo. Otherwise pick them up on the way back.
Some of the plants we have discovered when we have had to leave the trail are quite literally evil. They appear soft and fluffy but are tough and rough like a teddy bear that’s had a big night on the gin. We were amazed with how some parts of the trail had been adjusted for an easier walk. My wife was amazed that people brought the rocks all the way from the car park when I suggested they were more likely picked up close by because of the rock shortage in the area. tftc

Tassie Trip Day 105 - Today was a walk on Mt Wellington to collect a few caches whilst it was a little cooler and the mountain was clear so after making the trip to the top and going to the toilet it was time to begin collecting some caches.
Wow what a view and a nice place to collect a cache again it was a search helped greatly with that hint.
Thanks Barab Bunch for bring us here to admire the view and the track along the way.

I found quite a few caches today - I’ll try not to repeat too much. Was an awesome day all over, hit all four seasons, and quite a few different kinds of vegetation too
Actually, yesterday was planned in the weather to tackle the trail to feel the rigors of nature. But the road closure has thwarted my calculations.
At the barrier I had a nice and detailed conversation with the ranger. He explained to me why with some snow and ice the street is blocked. Hard to understand for me as an European. In the end he gave me a great tip for the day and so I was in the grandiose MONA.
Today, the weather calmed down and I started the trail. He is a bit exhausting, especially if the track is still a bit snowy and slippery.
The cans (7 + 1) I could happily find all that was not so easy in the snow.

Main goal of this little hike was Thark Ridge with its interesting D/T rating of course ! I really enjoyed this demanding hike on the rough surface leading me through the area up here at Mt. Wellington with not a single muggle around . I left some caches for the way back as pleasant changes [:o)].
Perfect weather and a quick find [^]. Countless lizards around, but fortunately no predators - to be seen .

Hi Barad Bunch, thanks for this cache. Found with all of the EeePees clan on a lovely Boxing Day walk. This was our fifth find for the day and it was a familiar looking cache container that was revealed at GZ. Great to have a series of caches out along this track which has improved immensely since I last walked it about 14 years ago. It was great weather for walking - not too sunny, no rain, no wind - and great company, cheers!
Hi Barad Bunch, TFTC. Found BoxingDay on a lovely walk with all 4 of the EeePees clan along with Lil Rafa. The track was in good dry repair today, and the weather remained favourable after the misty cloud had lifter following the early morning dwizzle.
We enjoyed a nice quick find of a familiar hide, with utas themed swag.
EeePees are enjoying our first visit along this track, thark thanks.
'Tis the season, so I was singing "thark the therald angels thing ..."

Our walk today started out with a nice track but it just got worse as we went along, wetter and wetter as we went, but we were still all smiles thanks to the great views along the way, from the listing the track was refurbished 3 years ago so it just goes to show how things change over time.
As for the cache it was a quick find and another dry one at that, well hidden cache in good condition.
Thanks for the cache and the amazing views.
Myself and Goose of GooseandEgg had long planned to do these but we disagreed on when was the best time of year, I wanted to do them when during the winter so we could add in "Trash or Treasure Island" so the ground would be hard and make for easier going but he said spring or summer.
With that said even today was a bit of a last minute event since we had planned all week to do the caches out at seven and five miles beaches but come late Friday night he raised the idea of doing this area since the forecast looked so good for the day, so come the Saturday morning I picked Goose up and while we got our morning coffee we made the call to go up the mountain and not the beach.
We made it to the parking location about 10:30 and after changing feet and getting our warmer gear on we set off at 10:45 and didn't return until 15:30 after which we drove down to lost freight to grab another coffee.

We started off from Howrah at about 10am, give or take a few minutes for our coffee stop and made our first find -Thark Rock at about 11am and here we are just over an hour later at Thark Thanks. I agree with you that the track is not too bad but a few parts were a bit of ‘fun’ as we tried to avoid the mini river running across it.
We had a perfect day for this walk, sure it started off a little cold and we were layered up but by the time we were here we were warm and out of the breeze. We spotted a typical Barad Bunch location and found a typical Barad Bunch container. All was good with this one. We signed a dry log and tucked it all away nicely.
Still a couple more caches to find and another climb or two ahead of us. Absolutely loving it up here today. Thanks for the hide Barad Bunch.

Thanks for the cache Barad Bunch and the new track, Mt Wellington track workers. My feet are nice and dry.
Found today on a walk with the membsecs. Fallow only for 1 year and 1 day.
Yes the track has certainly been improved. I recall coming through from closer to the throne once some time ago and practically needing waders.

Yesterday we were considering today's Thark Attack when discussion with Mr_Johna about nearby puzzles led to an organised group attack. The early morning start was aborted by the rain but as the weather improved the "Attack" was on. Mr_Johna on the ball here and cache located quickly.

Together with Silli1310, we went on holiday for a year. After travelling South America for three months, we went to New Zealand for another two months and then to Tasmania. Since ElMapa had also had Tasmania on his wish list for a long time, we met up for a good three weeks to travel the beautiful island. Unfortunately, the weeks flew by and we had already arrived back in Hobart. As we still had our rental car today, we took the opportunity to quickly drive out of town to Mt Welligton. From up here we had a great view of the city and the sea. After enjoying the view, we drove back again. Since we didn't want to just sit in the car, we did a short hike on the Thark Ridge Route on the way back. Besides the hike, we also wanted to find the few caches along the way. Thanks to the exact coordinates, we didn't have to search too long for this cache, so the three of us were able to quickly sign the logbook. Many thanks for the cache.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
Found the cache during our round trip through Tasmania. What a lovely island. The TFTC

Had joined the masses for the find here and it was old saint who run off for the possibility of find? Still it was enjoyable to part of the team who had chosen this day for a stroll around the mountain. We should do this ore often. See were the next one will take us.

I wasn't quite tail-end-Charlie on arrival at this one, but as best I recall/realise OldSaint had managed to arrive/find it first, and played schtum for a while until he decided to put us out of our misery. The track is definitely much better for the bog lands than the old one that I recall from a visit three years ago, and some hard work has gone into making it so. 11 pairs of feet today bedded it down even further! Thanks, Barad Bunch.
Yes, it gets my vote of thanks! And a favourite point for the hours of tough work by the Wellington Park Bushcare Group to create such a pleasant and so much better functioning track. This was an attractive hide that was found by the time I pulled up at GZ. There are some advantages of being in a caching group...the finds are much faster than when alone! I also think this cache was extra impetus for Sue&Peter to come on the walk and whilst I'm sure we would have figured it all out, their expertise was much appreciated. Thanks for the cache, Barad Bunch.

Well Barad it was only about 1k to this cache, but the walk back was over 8k. The reason being that we joined a very pleasant group of GCA cachers doing the walk to Devils Throne.
Whilst walking to the cache we reflected on how good the track looked after all the hard work put in by the Wellington Park Bushcare Group. TFTC Barad Bunch
