Logs
This archived cache is still going. I signed the slightly damp log sheet and replace it as found.
While looking for ARCHIVED CACHES, I came across this long disabled QUANDONG IS BLUE cache, which is apparently still out there. When searching for the cache I noticed that back in September when I logged the currently active cache PALMETUM, it was in fact the archived cache. Judging by images others posted, some did so too. Checked and both are still there. The new one is about the size of two hands, compared to the archived one which is smaller than one hand. Great but confusing to find two caches that close to each other, particularly under such a thick canopy with jumpy GPS.
Found this archived hide while searching for the New Palmetum 3 cache. Log is wet but still there
Went in search of newly published cache called Lovie Dovie Palmetum 3 (GC8BZAW) this morning & ended up finding this archived cache instead. This was my log today on the new cache:
TFTC ?? Found it after a good little search of GZ, coordinates were jumpy at first, but zeroed in on this hide eventually. Doubts: I am unsure if it’s the newly placed cache, as it looks old & has a wet log & looks previously used. I have a feeling this is an archived cache?!?
Will claim FTF until CO has seen my photos & advises me otherwise. Took green apple & left green yo-yo ?? Signed log & RAF.
Photos attached.
Fellow local geocacher BenM70 advised me via Geocaching messages that I found this archived cache, called Quandong is blue & that I can log my find of it. Many thanks BenM70.

The bats are overcoming the area, so its not a nice place anymore!! Time to say goodbye
Searched and searched....no sign of cache. Wonder if the rain few days prior, it was heaviest rainfall for June weekend in 20yrs, took it away to sea ? :-(
Took geopup for a walk and found this cache. The name gives it away. Found with Choppersrule. TFTC
Quick find at GZ after figuring out which way to approach given that the bat fence is still in place.

Thank you for the cache. We found it easily after a short walk in our beautiful gardens.
found the other day with MagickalMumma13. best thing about bat fences theres less muggles.tftc
After bypassing the bats, this was a quick & easy find with Geore4per tftc
Found this easily, however is within the current restricted zone of the gardens (oops, need to follow paths I guess). The cache is severely waterlogged, I wrapped some paper and a useable piece of the old log in a ziplock bag.
Hi there ^dventurers. We found your cache "Quandong is blue" at 1:55:00 PM today.
This was our 7th cache find in a caching run of 7 Finds & 1 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9736.)
[Blue]
Today's cache run was primarily to add to our current streak of "Most Consecutive Days" cached, (which has been going since New Years Day 2014.) Our route around the Palmetum and nearby River Walk took us to some wonderful & scenic locations.
The access path to the cache is actually blocked off due to a invasion of Flying Foxes. The cache is not supposed to be accessible beyond the barrier (but to the determined cacher there are always other routes).
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Poor. (We found the cache around 11 South from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: The cache was soaked, so we spent some time drying it out, but it still needs some "Owner TLC".
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Thanks for placing this cache - you took us to a part of the park we normally wouldn't visit. This place is beautiful.
Visiting Townsvillle, on our 3rd trip around Australia, picking up a few caches in the area.
This is a lovely section of the gardens, we enjoyed the walk to GZ.
Cache was found easily, and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, ^dventurers, for us and others to find.

Found while enjoying a walk as long the river and through the Palmetum on a magnificent NQ winters day. How lucky are we to have such a wonderful area to enjoy. TNLN TFTC
Cleaned out the cache as it was soaked, kepted old logs in there but have added a new dry log in new plastic bag so hopefully it will stay dry this time.
Thoroughly cleared the area of spiderwebs with my face for the next finder. Call it community service
3:39:00 PM. In Townsville for a days shopping and just had to finish off with some caches. Not knowing the gardens we made this one a lot harder to reach than it should have been. Once we got to this cache we found paths nearby. No muggles around here today. Thanks ^dventurers.

Found the cache. However there was moisture inside the container so I couldn't sign the log. TFTC.
Due to the swarm of mozzies all looking to have me as the main course of the night I set a new personal best record for locating and signing a logbook. tftc
Been meaning to have a look for this one ages ago. We eat red Quandongs regularly so it was of interest to see a blue one. SL TFTC and the chance to see a different colour.
Have been to this spot once before to find another cache some time ago. Nice spot in the Palmetum. Quick find for both MattCNS and myself. TFTC ^dventurers. TNLN. SL. [#521]
A quick grab once we'd found our way to GZ. The cache had some water in it and the log was damp but still usable. TFTC.
My second cache hunt in this park today. Boy I've found some caches here over the years - many have come and gone. I was just at GZ when the phone rang. Was still able to make the find with the phone to my ear. Signed and replaced. Also signed for C2M next to their paw print!
Thanks!
Thanks!
#971 In the few moments that it wasn't poring down today, managed to replace on of our caches that had gone missing, hide one and then claim this find on the way back to the car.
Absolutely torn apart by the mozzies while hunting through the very wet undergrowth. Once the cache was found, Champs haded over the pen he had been carrying only to discover that it had been in his pocket upside down and all the ink had exploded into the pen.
The brown muddy smudge under Danandlil's name is our mark.

Meet some of the rather friendly wildlife while retrieving this, geokids loved it. TNLN. TFTC.
last one for our aussie day cache run.[^]after collecting jingle bells we made our way to the quandong. sl.tnln.TFTC. congrats to adventurers on the first cache.
Decided to do some caching along the river this afternoon since there are still some caches left for me to tick off the list.
Great to see another new name amongst the 'hiders'
Found this one after a little searching in the wrong place first.

After a foot operation over a week ago I was able to wear shoes for the first time, so thought I would test myself out with a little walking. It is great to be back trudging the undergrowth. Both GPSs sent me around in circles but soon settled down and I headed for the GZ. Had to dodge sprinklers that cooled me but eventually found a nice neat little cache. SL TFTC ^dventurers. Took a pic of the plaque.
Saw this published this morning and decided to head over thinking that the ftf had already been claimed! And Bam!!! My first ever FTF!! Quite the accomplishment in Townsville! Left geocoin! TFTC!!
Shot out after work to grab this new cache. After finding ourselves on the wrong side of the river, more than once, we got to GZ. Once there we soon had the cache in hand.

geoD saw the notification pop up on this one last night but as we already had our cache for the day we left it until today.
Our cache a day journey continues, we were riding our pushies home from work and took the short diversion to grab this one. We were getting eaten alive by mozzies so it had to be a quick find sign and replace. We knew that we wouldn't be FTF but surprised to see a new name in the log book and not the usual suspects. 2nd to find for us today and another cache now a smiley face.
