No obvious sign but couldn't get too 'in depth' due to beatiful weather and touristy muggles.

Saw the number of favourites and recently replaced cache.

Spent 20 mins with a mate and couldn't find it - maybe I'm not looking in the right places...

As part of our epic Eyre Peninsula adventure we are spending 5 days in Port Lincoln. We looked for this unsuccessfully on day 1. After the previous logs suggesting this was gone, and our own failure, we messaged the CO to ask if they would like a replacement put out.
Based on detailed discussions with previous finders regarding the correct location and cache type, we have done that while awaiting a reply from the CO. If it turns out that this is not acceptable to the CO we will happily remove this log and can arrange to have our replacement nano removed.

We had some advice where this might be but no luck. We will message the CO to check if they would like us to put out a replacement for them.

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.

After having a successful day yesterday, we awoke with motivation and optimism for the day that was ahead of us. However after having our first geocache find, a rock had hit the vehicle's oil sump, leaving the car inoperable and requiring the car to be towed to a mechanic in Port Lincoln. The morning was then spent addressing the vehicle's repair plan, and then trying to salvage the remainder of our weekend's plans. We walked around the centre of Port Lincoln, before finding a hire vehicle for us, and then the afternoon was spent driving around the area. It was interesting seeing Port Lincoln's marinas and also caught glimpse of the shark cages. We ended up drowning our sorrows in the evening (whilst celebrating gridge98's birthday) at the craft brewery, which was probably a highlight of the day.

Wow, this was a hard find indeed! A great location within Port Lincoln's suburbs, and possibly the ability to climb this old mill makes it a high FP location to visit. We started looking around ground for the cache, but nada. Went to the top, and still nope. We then conducted a methodical search from top to bottom, bottom to top, and then looking up from the bottom to top, but nothing was turning up. A PAF to a previous finder gave us some insight, but still that strategy didn't yield any cache. I then began to perform another diligent search, and sure enough, I spotted the well camouflaged cache location. Phew, glad we found that one. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks viper231 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Well this is a pretty cool place at night as per my photo.
This took a bit to find but with a logical approach Davidwazza came away with the goods on this one

Well what a day it was, a day filled with more downs than ups and but overall a few caches were found in and around port Lincoln. Davidwazza and I headed to the Eyre Peninsula for a weekend away to clean up as much as we could and collect a few new LGAs for Davidwazza. This morning 2nd cache in we ended up cracking the oil sump in the car and having to sort out what to do and how to fix the issue. Lucky a mechanic was at hand and a prolonged trip was soon scheduled and a hire car was in hand. I guess things happen when you use a car for things that it’s not made to do.
Other than that a great day out.

Thanks for the cache

Last visit to town we failed miserably in locating this one, decided to try and redeem ourselves and try another search, methodically searched and was rewarded with spying the sneaky cache happily adding our name to the log

A trip to Port Lincoln to visit relatives and to pay tribute to a lost family member. The Adder managed to talk the rest of the family of complete
un interested muggles to allow him to seek a few caches whilst staying with them for a week.

We are sure we had been here before many years ago where a cache was placed on another neary structure.

This took longer than we had expected. Knowing a possible way that the prize had been hidden it was a matter of where?

With our Muggle family driver getting impatient, the PAF was needed to narrow down GZ.

A few minutes later the prize was found, signed and returned.

We are on the Vasco de Gama cruise ship for a few days. After the disappointment of not stopping at KI yesterday (understandable given the fire devastation) we were happy to arrive in Port Lincoln today. I didn’t set us the most interesting route as I wanted to get the 2 Freddo caches in town. I think the coastal walk would have been nicer.
In the end we walked 16.3km, found 13 caches, called in at 2 boozers and had lunch on the ship. A very productive day and still lots of caches to find in Lincoln if or when we ever come back.
Met a lovely family here and explained all about nanos. Then Jonah found the cache, brilliant!! Clever little hide in a great spot. TFTC

In Port Lincoln on the Golden Princess so nice to find a cache readily findable by a tourist. It did come with a great view and was surrounded by cruise muggles, but after scaring them when they thought Owl had fallen, they were amused by the explanation of Geocaching. Of course, point are then lost for it being a spawn of Satan, but you can't have everything!

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Camped up on the hill behind Port Lincoln, we set out to do a tiki tour of town, using geocaching as our guide, next closest all the time. This took us on a pretty roundabout journey around town, searching for 10, finding 8 and dnfing 2

Quick find once we got the altitude right. Thanks viper231

Travelling Australia since March 2014 it has been a while since in SA but enjoying this visit greatly.

Visiting Port Lincoln we had a tonne of chores but finally headed out to grab a few caches late in the day. We really had forgotten how hard urban caching can be, being muggled out at 2 locations today.

A quick visit to one of my fav caches in Port Lincoln before starting my adventure to Armidale.

19-Jan-18
Ooh. A fifth cache in the day. It's been a while since I did that many in a daySmile
We enjoyed the climb up the stairs (but alas I can't remember the total - now that I'm finally logging it in May) and grabbed a photo, before heading down and looking for the cache.
Coordinates spot on, and after checking a few things I was finally able to spot the cache whilst Cal did the retrieve. Added our names and we were on our way (to eat more seafood at one of the pubs).

In town for a few days, and the old mill was on my tourist to do list so ventured here after breakfast this morning. Climbed the stairs slowly so I could search as I went, until I came across the little blighted. Sadly no pen to scratch my name on the attendance slip, so have a photo instead

Found in the second place we looked. TFTC.

Your cache was visited by Team Mattycat, including Purrfect Di, Sebastbat, Jack, and young muggle Alex.

Walked up the hill off the cruise ship so we weren't going without this one. How could you find something so small on something so big. No luck on the first assault on the steps to the top. Then sent geopartner back up and yes a smile on his face as he came back to witness the signing of the log. Top cache. Thanx

We had originally intended to head back to Adelaide today, but instead, decided to extend our stay in Port Lincoln one more night... and so glad we did, as it was a beautiful warm sunny day... a perfect day to explore and find a few geocaches!!

It was just before sunset when we arrived at GZ... perfect timing for some photos!! Such a beautiful old historic building. It is great that you are able to climb to the top for an awesome view across town... the stairs did not faze ronso, but red was a little bit sceptical. Luckily it did not take too long to spot the cheeky little hide... after signing the log, we stood at the top and recited... "Bloody Nanos! Spawn of Satan. Burn down the Nano factory, and exterminate anyone who sells Nanos" LOL :cP

Fav point added. TFTC viper231

As novices this was above our expertise. Lol. Plus I was terrified.

CPwanderer, GoodLook and I headed off for a weekend in Port Lincoln via an overnight stop in Whyalla Smile
Our weekend was unexpectedly extended by a day due to illness and so my tally at the end of the 'weekend' was 168 cache finds Smile
Sadly this was marred by a massive 28 DNFs SadSurprisedSad
Port Lincoln, despite being virgin caching territory for all 3 of us, did not provide us with the pleasure that we had anticipated Sad
So many of the caches were bison tubes and those that we did find, quite often were in places where a larger cache could have been hidden Twisted The other issue was the lack of maintenance on many caches Sad
There are people trying their best to maintain the 'wheres wolly' cache hides however their resources are stretched thinly..... so if you are heading over, please pack heaps of cache maintenance containers, bags and log books and help out where you can. [^]
That being said, the trip was still a blast and some great caches were found and great views were seen! Cool
Roaming Wendy very kindly came out with us for the rest of today and as a result, our find count increased as did the laughter in the car Big Grin
Thank you for your company [^]

GoodLook was brave here and made the find while shaking Cool
We stood down and watched [^]
That sure is one evil cache hide..... a nano on all that metal Twisted

GoodLook made the climb ..... after dark!!!! Her bravery (or is it obsession) amazes me!! Thanks Viper231 for the hide!!! Very challenging!!
This was one of the caches found on a three day odyssey on the Eyre Peninsula! Myself, GoodLook and locuscache had never cached south of the Cowell/Cleve area so we had high hopes of some great caching. We worked our way down through Port Neil and Tumby Bay and grabbed those along the highway plus a few a little further afield.
Our time in and around Port Lincoln was frustrating. Lots very small micros, lots of very rusty tins and more dnfs than ive ever had in a day before this. We were very fortunate that local cacher , Roming Wendy joined as. Her expert knowledge of the town certainly helped. A medical issue had us stay a third day. This worked out very well as we could do some relaxed caching on our way home.
A special thanks to Roming wendy for her help and to those who hid caches in the area … particularly the Geo-Ambos, Wheres Wolly and Viper231. Special thanks also to my “mildly obsessive” caching buddies on this trip …………………………… amazing fun!!

26-Jun-16
OMG OMG OMG! This was terrifying!!!

My buddies both said they were unable to climb this one due to the height Surprised, and the steep and narrow steps Surprised that were completely SEE THROUGH!! Surprised I don't like heights all that much [xx(], but if we wanted the smiley one of us needed to and this time it was me! [:(!]

The feeling for the nano on the structure whilst climbing stairs with my eyes closed nearly did my head in......I felt all dizzy but persevered and was DELIGHTED when my fingers stumbled upon it.

Viper231, this is an amazing cache hide, well done! A fav point from me Big Grin

FYI, I sat up the top of the Mill freaking out that I might drop the cache as my fingers were frozen, but fortunately with a torch in my mouth I was able to shine it down to write on the log and re-insert it into the cache container quite easily.

I then wondered how I was going to replace the cache and get back down onto the ground. I told my buddies to go on without me and that I would need to spend the night as fear started to overwhelm me. AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

But I toughened up and they offered kind words of encouragement and I actually went down quicker than I though whilst focussing on the horizon and not what was down below.

Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.

After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places

Thanks for the cache Smile

Out caching with Rav81 and with a sly hint to help me along I then had to extract the cache. Glad of a few items in my bag to assist with the retrieval of said cache container. And then gothcha!! And a brand new log sheet to sign . So pleased to get this one done and dusted after too many attempts over many visits to Port Lincoln . At least it wasn't windy this time.

Thought there'd be " trooble a' mill.." When found after a little while in pre-dawn dark - as it started raining just as I'd got the log out.
Debating options retreated to the base and squirreled into the door jamb to do the honours without ending up with papier-mâché mâché with a mill-sharpened pencil.
I love caching because it shows me places like this even when I'm overnighting in a town I may not see again.
Fave for that and for being SA # 1

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass (signed as m & p), at 1550. Our second day in Port Lincoln. Today, we cached our way around the local area. Weather not quite so bad today. This one took quite a while. Searched around, then realised that we might not be at the right level. Some ups and downs later, pprass discovered where it was hidden. There followed another delay in trying to extract it from its hiding place, Success after another minute or two. Our thanks to viper231.

12-Jul-15
Found at 3:54 PM GAFF2 in the company of maccamob. We signed the log book as "M&P".
We slowly worked out where we had to be and what we were looking for, however the first time I put my hand there I missed it. The previous cachers must have really wanted to make this a D 4.0 [B)]
A tough cache that really deserves its rating - nice location too.
Thanks viper231.

Logging again because I've been back, with a pen this time! Let the geokids (benno447 and a bunch of baby ducks) find it. They found it very easily, however extracting for them wasn't so easy even with smaller fingers. Gave them my pocket knife and out it came.
CO can check it if he wants. Seems he didn't believe I'd found it the first time. The log reel has our names on it now.

Found with Warrachie and Benno447
