Woke up on Sunday earlier than usual and decided to go on a ferry ride to release some stress. Which one to pick, mmhh?? Tiritiri got the go with 10 unfound geocaches .
Enjoyed a great sunny day out on the water and around the island. The walk and watching the birds took my stress level quickly down and I was able to relax. Another great view from this geocache. TFTC

It was stunning weather for a weekend on Tiri to take in the wildlife and pick up all the caches along the way. We had just finished dinner and as it wasn't quite dark enough to go searching for tuatara and kiwi we went for a walk past here so I ducked in and grabbed the cache.
Took us a second to find the right 'hint' spot. But then it was a quick find. tftc
A day out exploring Tiritiri Mating we couldn't miss the lighthouse and of course the cache nearby TFTC
Was on Tiri celebrating my 9000th find, and had to walk and gather all the new caches since I was last here.
Nice placement, had made it around the island with more than enough time to get back to the ferry early so hung around the visitor centre watching the Tui's for a while. TFTC

We are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a long overdue trip to Tiri. Finding caches a bonus. Tftc
Well that's one mighty big fog horn! Don't think I'd like to be standing next to that when it goes off
We decided to visited Tiritiri Matangi during Conservation Week, it's been over 15 years since we last visited. The Island has really developed over that period. Highly recommended. We took over 200 photographs. Surrounded by muggles so sat down next to GZ opened the backpack and got out the sandwiches, no one was aware of what we were doing!

Last cache of the day and last find on the island. Found with Pete the Navigator and family. TFTC.
Our seventh find of a day of caching on this beautiful island. The birds and their calls are amazing not to mention some of the fascinating fauna. Probably wouldn't have made the trip out here if it weren't for these caches! Quickly had cache in hand thanks to suspicious looking rocks! Tftc
2.00pm. Oscatello wa sonto this cache straight away. Thanks for bringing us here.

2.00pm. Wandered down from the lighthouse with Oscatello and Mrs The Pud. Imagined a misty day with the old fog horn bellowing. Found instantly by Oscatello. Good to have some caches to do while enjoying a day on the island. Saw many of the bird species established on the island over the course of the day.

Nice to be able to come and get this cache today. Stopped at the memorial for Mr Blue who we remember from our tree planting days and followed us everywhere we went. TFTC
The weather forecast was bad again for this week end, however we decided to head North from Auckland and visit a few places, including Tirititi Matangi.
The rain followed us all the morning but weakened around noon. Fortunately, the visit of the island was still very interesting and we saw a lot of rare birds. Good explainations were supplied by a local benevolent guide. After a short break for lunch, we looked for the 2 nearby caches and headed back to the wharf.
all is in good conditions.

On a day trip to the island. Spent the morning birding, then after a picnic lunch, decided to see if we could find the nearby caches. Walked down to this stopping on way to take photos of a pukeko who was grazing nearby. Glad it wasnt foggy when we picked this up!
The southern end of the island has not been replanted in bush and still looks remarkably like we remember from our university days. We walked down to the foghorn and found the cache easily despite a few other people wandering around. Thanks for another reason to come back here.
We’re here from the UK on the trip of a lifetime with Geocaching as one of the ‘must do’ elements of the trip.
We just had time to pick up this cache before heading back for the ferry. We were coming to this special place anyway but thanks (I say thanks !) to the cache owner for enhancing our trip.

We had a wonderful visit to Tiri today and decided this was the perfect spot for a Swiss Geocoin, If you are next to visit please continue its trip around the world. Was also neat finding a Czech coin to continue its travels.
I spent the week-end on the island and found all three caches on my first day!
Besides the caches - and maybe more importantly! - I saw many beautiful birds,
and at night (with the help of two really experienced really kind bird-watchers)
two kiwis, one tuatara and many penguins! It was a wonderful stay!!!

Beautiful cache location! My wife and I wouldn't have gone out to that point otherwise!
An easy find..... the last of the three on the Island to date. A bonus on another wonderful day on this gorgeous Island. TFTC
Glorious day on the island. Saw a kokako for the first time. TN Left a whistle. TFTC.
#891: Found two of the three on Tiritiri during a wonderful day in a fabelous place. The last one seemed to be right underneath the nest of the rarest bird present on the island - and the path being closed for the time being.
Just finished inspecting the fog horn air receiver when I explained to my colleague what geocaching was and that that was one near by.
Minutes after I'd put the cache back Ric1942 snag up behind me - good to see you here.
We had a chat and gave further explanation about Geocaching to the rest of the crowed around us.
Great day on the island. Managed to do a little loop to find the other caches before heading back to the ferry.
Another hard day's work done.

Stumbled on another cacher in the act. Great to see you and have chat.

I think I might need a new GPSr. When I turned it on, it failed to load properly, after resetting I found there were no caches on it ( I had checked that I had this cache loaded the night before). Slight panic set in as I thought I wouldn't be able to find the cache - long way to come without being able to this cache). All I new was that the cache was by the foghorn.
Then I remembered my phone (not used to caching with it yet, so doesn't immediately come to mind). However by the time we had walked from the shop to the foghorn, the geocaching app hadn't loaded.
Started to look around anyway - now where could a cache be?
It was the first place I looked, who needs co-ords or a hint.
Never come down here to look at the fognorn before, so thanks for this cache. Bonus as we went back up, Ray from the Tiri supporters who has been restoring the watchtower, and the last Tiri lighthouse keeper, had just opened up the watchtower. It was great to be able to have a look around and chat to the two of them. TFTC

No "normal" people around. Cache could be somewhat more challenging out here. Left pirate smurf on this island so he can experience some more adventures.
I was over on Tiritiri today for my 3rd visit to the island. It was a mixed bag weather wise, but still a pleasant wander around the island. Made a quick find of this cache on my travels. TFTC!
My phone didn't have enough reception to allow me to find this via gps but I remembered the clue from looking on website the night before. Quick find with stunning views
Found with MissK1103 and our friend Yvonne. Next time I come out to the Island I want to stay for 3 days.
Found with no. 1 son and my friend 'muggle no more' Yvonne. First visit to Tiri for no. 1 son and myself. Tiritiri Matangi is a very special place to visit because of the hard and sustained work by the Rangers and volunteers who created and now maintain the sanctuary. We had an awesome day bird watching and found two caches. TFTC.

This was the day of the annual gathering of musicians on Tiritiri Matangi for a fundraising concert, which attracted many visitors. A wander down 'Wattle Valley' was full of surprises. Either on the track or partly hidden in the bush you would become aware of strange musical notes wafting on the air. Instruments of infinite variety from the commonplace to the bizarre were evident. The local avian residents must have been more than a little puzzled by these intruders calling to one another in their domain. Later that evening the musical concert began on the East facing slope just behind the lighthouse with some well recognised faces in the musical group.
The climax of the evening was going to be a demonstration of a revolutionary acoustic engine of exceptional tonal vibrancy, which was originally conceived as the centre piece of the musical suite by Wilhelm Helmut von Fassbinder called ‘Ich höre meine Meerjungfrau ruft mich in Liebes süßen Tönen‘
We waited in anticipation of this electrifying event. In fact such was the expectation of the audience that shortly before the activation of the acoustic engine a sizeable number, no longer being able to contain themselves, proceeded at a fast pace down the slope towards the building housing the engine.
The more cautious amongst the audience noted that some in their midst had their hands clapped firmly over each ear, maybe a portent of things to come. At the precise moment in the musical score the engineers, who were responsible for activation of the acoustic engine, played their part well. The engine was primed to go and a simple turn of a pressure valve would give rise to a diaphonic cacophony of immense proportions.
Sadly this was not to be – the engine, struggling with insufficient pressure, was only capable of a less than impressive ‘burp’

Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz
FTF with the group, arrived at GZ thinking where do we start, its lightly raining and low cloud (sounds like fog!) Happy to see a new log waiting for our names. Thanks again for the hide.

Joint FTF with Urbangypsynz We are staying overnight at the DOC house, which we booked 6 months ago! Began the day watching orca, with the ferry in the background still moored at the wharf at Tiri, whilst the ranger attempted to give us his safety talk. When while walking up the road, spotted Kokako 3 metres away in a tree! Found cache in the fog, how appropriate. Thanks for the hide.
Joint ftf with rebel98 a rsrely visited part of the island but worth a look rich in history. Testing and maintaining the horn today. special Island something new each time you come:-)
