Have been thinking about doing this for a while now. With a new Gourmet AdLab in place at Milawa I feel it is the right time to archive the Gourmet Series. Thanks to the many finders over the years.

Canberra Day long weekend trip to Wangaratta. After spending the Mega weekend down at Wangaratta, there was so much more to do that a plan was hatched to visit again to do the Warbies Challenges and the Old Coach Road. A team of Joolay, Kitty Katch, FurfacesLL, Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and I came together for this trip. Day 1. I headed off after work, knowing it was going to be late when I arrived, bit I had a short list of caches to do along the way. It was dark by the last few and then I had to set up camp in amongst a horse weekend in the Oxley Reserve.
This was a bit of a detour, but I was determined and I pulled out the torch for a find here.
Thanks for the cache BettyBoo3747

Our final day in Wangaratta after attending the recent Mega.
We had intended to hit the trails by bike but although the day was cooler, it was still quite muggy and we haven't ridden much lately. Another time!
So we headed out in the car and worked on a variety of caches. Some from the rail trail and others in surrounding areas. Again we came across a variety of caches.
Our thanks to Geocaching Victoria for organizing the Mega and to local cachers that have given us so many to look for. We've got plenty more to do, so we'll be back!
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache BettyBoo3747.

Moved from Wangaratta showgrounds following the end og the Mega 21, and returned to Brown Brothers for an overnight stay and to get the bikes out and ride around the area and see what we could get. Reasonably cool morning with an ocassional shower, but not enough to get wet, plus a few more klm on the bikes.

Found as we explored more of the area after enjoying time at the Mega, thanks for bringing us here and TFTC and the fun
Like others no sign of anything close to a free range anything today. I did find and sign though. TFTC BettyBoo
In Wangaratta for the Mega, we traveled over early so we could get some local caching in. After stowing the shop in a storage shed so it wasn't bouncing around in the back of the car we set up in the caravan park and then set out to cache! An easy find here, Cache is all good. TFTC
Nothing very gourmet here but nice to drive these back roads and the fecund rural landscape.
Hardly anyone about except up at the Milawa bakery cafe.
Thanks BB

It's been a few years since I played Snakes and Ladders so I figured I'd attend this event in Myrtleford to see what all the fuss was about
I was amazed at all the greetings between teams and the sense of rejoicing: until I realised that in Vic an event is a rare thing these days as well as for the past year! No wonder everyone was so happy![^]
My day started with the event at 11am[^] and then finished with my last cache find at 11pm[|)] on the way back to my van[|)][xx(][|)] In between, I found 14 caches, attended the event and also did an adv lab to round out the day[^] Although that rounding out the day left me exhausted from walking way further than I should[xx(][|)][xx(][xx(] so rather than walking all the way back to the car I rang a taxi and the lovely man picked Rex and I up and drove us back for a tiny fee[:X][:X]
I've been trying to pick off this series for years[^] and so I could not drive close by this cache without making the small detour to find it![^][^]
This cache was also one where I thought I could cope with the T* in the darkness at 11pm[^]
A quick find and I think I now only have 2 more to find
They'll both be daylight attempts[^], I think, due to my lack of stability on uneven surfaces
Can't wait to have this series finished

A few weeks ago I looked at my tally and thought I would struggle to crack 1000 caches for the year. But a consolidated effort over the last few weeks and more than I expected on the recent work trip numbers suddenly things looked positive - had a few calendar holes to fill and some potential trips to get the last 22 required. However when the offer was made to visit Milawa for lunch and the suggestion of taking two cars so that I could go geocaching afterwards was made I jumped at the opportunity. So after morning tea at Brown Brothers and lunch at the cheese factory I parted ways with the rest of the family (I took the geohound) and started on the caches around town. 23 caches (and 1 DNF) later the magic number was reached and now the challenge is to beat last years total.
Wasn't concentrating and overshot this one (that is what test cricket does sometimes). Doubled back, parked and found the cache in the second spot I looked. A heavy container included a lock. Log signed and on my way.

Out for a test drive after doing some repairs on the geo vehicle. May as well find some caches. Nice easy find but had to avoid the slugs. TFTC
A day out with Happy pants, picking up some out on the back roads around the Milawa area. Some great finds and different containers found, while having a great day out together.
We are enjoying exploring the area and some quiet little roads. This was a quick find.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Today we have moved to Malawa, staying at the Brown Brothers RV area. From here we will cache from Wangaratta and Beechworth areas
This morning we drove along the Spirit of Salt trail & in the afternoon into Wangaratta.
This was a good way to visit your area.

Just a wandering gourmet style before the rain comes. Great to explore a few lanes and spots off the main road!TFTC
Today we have headed out to find all of the Gourmet Run caches so that we could find the final so that we could collect the unloved. Some where easy to find, some we struggled with but we got there in the end. SL TFTC
Cool - it’s great to see the local area through the eyes of a geocacher, it makes for an very interesting way to travel around Australia.
Seeing these interesting parts of a local area that shows the history, the memories of characters, and pioneers who lived and worked on the land.
An amazing part of the local history here.
We meandered over to GZ, found the cache, with signing duties done and dusted, we replaced the container as found.

Working in Bright over a busy long weekend, and was granted our "get out of Bright free card" so used the day to explore and cache. Had to go into Wangaratta, so chose this scenic route.
Look at all the chooks, no watch the GPS, almost missed it. No longer magnetic, Thanks Betty Boo

Heading home.
Picking up a few caches along the way and having a bit of time out from driving.
This makes me think of a song...
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,
& the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
**Chorus**
Home, home on the range,
Where the deer and the antelope play;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Where the air is so pure, the zephyrs so free,
The breezes so balmy and light,
That I would not exchange my home on the range
For all of the cities so bright.
**Chorus**
Yes, give me the gleam of the swift mountain stream
And the place where no hurricane blows;
Oh, give me the park where the prairie dogs bark
And the mountain all covered with snow.
**Chorus**
Oh, give me the hills and the ring of the drills
And the rich silver ore in the ground;
Yes, give me the gulch where the miner can sluice
And the bright, yellow gold can be found.
**Chorus**
Oh, give me the mine where the prospectors find
The gold in its own native land;
And the hot springs below where the sick people go
And camp on the banks of the Grande.
**Chorus**
How often at night when the heavens are bright
With the light from the glittering stars
Have I stood here amazed and asked as I gazed
If their glory exceeds that of ours.
**Chorus**
Oh, give me a land where the bright diamond sand
Flows leisurely down the stream;
Where the graceful white swan goes gliding along
Like a maid in a heavenly dream.
**Chorus**

Found by Mary & David at 1450. Most appropriately here, there are a few free range cattle on the road a few hundred metres away. According to our TomTom, we've found a cache here before. So good to have an excuse to return to this great area. A quick find. Our thanks to BettyBoo3747.

Day 3 of the weekend around the Seymour area with fitzy_1965 and specimenX, and after completing the Mt Disappointment series and with time to spare, we headed home on a longer route.
After grabbing the Whroo series, we headed for one of our favourite areas - Beechworth - you know, just
to grab a few more. Turned out to be a good idea as we found a few that we had previously been DNF's, as well many many new ones. No problems with any of the finds and all caches were in good condition.
Thanks BB for yet another fun, if only for a couple or hours, caching run around the area.

11632. Found during Day 3 of an epic caching weekend with specimenX and Sol de Lune.
The three of us (usually signing as 'FSS') traveled south this weekend for the Mt Disappointment Power Trail and as many others as possible. After finishing the trail yesterday, we started heading home today via the Whroo and Beechworth regions for another good day of caching. I really enjoy caching around this area. We didn't have much time but we filled many gaps today ! Quick find at GZ for us ! Signed Log, Returned the Cache, and headed off to the next one !!
Thanks again BettyBoo3747 !!

I had so much fun on our little roadtrip!
Me, boo09, becca85 & GemmaSistema headed to Wangaratta for the night.
Day 1 was huge with 50 finds, lots of which were at night by torchlight- we even got bogged!
Day 2 we got rained out in the end but still had an enjoyable day.
Thanks for some great caches in great company!

School holidays are upon us which means Team Clarmensma (myself, GemmaSistema, boo09, neisha07 as well as Ad + Luke) is formed yet again as we target another area of beautiful country Victoria.
This time we decided on an over night road trip to Wangaratta. Meeting up in Violet Town, we headed straight to Wang and our motel where we dumped our belongings and headed straight off for an arvo of caching. Lots of great finds, a stop for lunch on the side of a lonely dirt road followed by some more caching until it got dark and we decided we should probably feed the children again.
A pub dinner and off we went again with torches and another layer of clothes each. A few stops in and we managed to get ourselves bogged but were promptly saved by some nice CFA gentlemen. The adventure never stops! Finally after a DNF and we were all soaking wet we decided to head back to the motel for a Milo. A great day out exploring a region I had never visited before. TFTC!

School holidays mean that myself and my two kids (ages 5 & 7) go caching with becca85 and her two kids (ages 6 & 8 - or boo09 and neisha07). We normally do a big day out around home (Ballarat way), but we are running out of spots. These holidays we decided to head north and stay a night and cache in and around Wangaratta. After dumping our stuff at the motel we headed out for an afternoon of fun around Oxley/Milawa way. The kids turned feral here so we stopped for lunch out the back of the ute!
We are staying in Milawa for the long weekend and headed out at first light to grab some caches before breakfast. I usually cache alone but today I had my mum (who is 84) with me. She got out at some of the caches and stayed in the car for others. I think that she enjoyed the ride. We found 13 out of 13 in an hour and a half before breakfast so it was a good start to the day. TFTC
After a stop for some CHEESE, and then the LONG drive back to postcode 3012, a few quick caches to add a few SMILEYS for the region.
Thanks for the history on this one.

This cache took about 10 minutes of hunting before it was located - just so many potential spots for a hide here. The cache and contents were in good condition. It wasn't until we came to log the cache that we became aware that the cache had been made temporarily unavailable because of issues with the landowner. Thankfully we had no such issues as we didn't see anyone near GZ although the chooks came over for a look. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the cache and for your support in keeping the Gourmet Run going.
After POA4's log I am disabling this one until I decide whether to archive or find another hiding spot on the other side of the road. I don't want people to have to face an angry farmer.
There seemed to be lots of potential hiding spots here. Was having a good look around, when the landowners approached us and told us, in no uncertain terms that we were on private property. We thought we were just on the side of the road, but moved on at their request.
Quick drive by while sisso1 was on the phone. Have to admit to frightening myself while signing the log. I had leaned a stick up against the tree ..... when the stick fell down, I got such a fright because I thought it was a snake. It is that time of year again......gathering more of this series....TFTS

TFTC. We pulled up right opposite GZ. Thanks for the warning Boothie103. Easy find on a cold morning.
Easy find and with the breeze in the right direction, you know it is a chicken farm! Note of caution, look out for the loose strand of barbed wire at GZ. It nearly sent me a over t! TFTC
Our plan today was to load the bikes onto the 4wd and head to some rail trails around Beechworth. Unfortunately, just as we were about to load the bikes a car reversed out of the drive way opposite ours and hit a power pole sending it to the ground and leaving lower lines crossing our driveway. Once the power was turned off we had a look and didn't think the 4wd would fit under the lines. The blokes from country energy did let us get the smaller car out but it meant the bikes got left behind.
We loved the way these trees were all leaning in one direction. I went for the search first and as there were so many hidey holes Mrs Jacko soon decided to brave the cold and lend a hand. It was her who soon found the cache and did the duty of signing the log.

No muggles in the area, so walked to GZ, and found it in the first place we looked.
