Sydney to Melbourne Meander. Day Six: Corowa to MelbourneWeather: Another perfect geocaching day.One of three caches logged in and around downtown Benalla as I make my way towards Melbourne. Benalla had already been bypassed by the the time I started driving between Sydney and Melbourne in the 90s. So this is like getting to see the town for the first time, and checking out some geocaches is always a good way to do that. The photo of the man in the phone box speaks volumes. A tad drier here today, and an easy find. Thanks for the cache and the series Team BGF.

bunadoorian and I were in the area and after having some lunch we came to find this cache. A well hidden cache was found. We were able to retrieve it without arousing any interest. See bunadoorian's log to see where not to sit to fill in the logbook!! Very interesting to see how far the flood water comes up. TFTC and for bringing us here Team BGF.

29-Jan-24
Grub62 and I were in the area and notwithstanding the comments in the description decided to check out the cache about midday on a Monday. There was not much muggle activity near GZ and I had noticed the cache so a quick grab and we moved away from GZ so as not to bring attention to the area. We found a nearby seat and sat down to sign the logbook and lo and behold one of the locals tried to pick me up. I hadn't realised that I was sitting at a taxi rank. I was told by the driver (in the nicest possible way) that taxis had to pull over if someone was sitting on that seat. Suitably chastised I finished signing the logbook then with all due care and attention we returned the cache. Thanks for the entertainment and TFTC.

Yep, it's done and dusted, and a bunch of tired people are trying to get themselves home.
Sadly, so are hundreds of thousands of others, and the highways are chockers.
This was a lovely stop in a lovely spot... well deserving of coming back to have a proper look.
Thanks heaps, Team BGE!

*Cache find # 14062.*

After completing half of my mission yesterday, It was now day and it was time to find a few caches in the Benalla LGA before heading to the centre of the Wangaratta LGA and then moving on to Craig’s Hut for a CITO.
As I was passing by this one so I had to stop for a look.
I was onto this one fairly quickly, I was able to sign the log but you can't really fold it out, I think it has seen too many floods.

**Thanks to Team BGF for placing this cache.**

Find #5112. Found @ 10:49 with Muggle-L

On the way back from the Mega in Wangaratta to Melbourne, and what better way to break up the drive than to find a few caches along the way.

A diversion to Benalla to meet a friend of Muggle-L's for lunch, and grabbing some caches along the way. Last time Muggle-L and I were in the area we DNFed a couple of caches, this being one of them. We didn't log it as a DNF because there were too many muggles about last time, but this time there was a gap in the foot traffic, and I made a quick find of the camouflage.

It took a bit of searching before I decided to initial at the top of the log sheet as there is no room left on the log sheet.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Team BGF

17-Jan-22
Found with Sir-JOz on lunch stopover in way home from Wangaratta Mega. We had tried very briefly to find this one Easter 2021 but there were so many muggles we didn't stay, so had earmarked it for another time, this time Sir-JOz had cache in hand very quickly. TFTC

In Wangaratta for the Mega, we traveled over early so we could get some local caching in. After stowing the shop in a storage shed so it wasn't bouncing around in the back of the car we set up in the caravan park and can now cache and explore. Today we ent to Banalla to visit an expat friend so not much caching was done. this was a quick find, but needs a replacement log. Had to sign a business card that someone had folded up and put in. TFTC

Sneaky little hide, found after the muggles walked by

We left Geelong this morning after 10 great days visiting, exploring and, of course, caching and set off for warmer pastures. As neither of us has spent any time in Benalla for years we thought we’d stop and take a look around, and see just how many caches we could find in an afternoon. The free caravan spot down past the library is great. Plenty of spots to pick from, walking distance to the shopping centre, free clean toilets under the library and caches all round. Some of them provided quite a challenge, some were pretty easy and by doing them we saw quite a bit of this pretty town and it’s lovely old buildings. Thanks to all the COs for their time and efforts. We really appreciate it.

DNF @ 12:45 with The Good Lady Wife and Muggle-L

Going away for Easter with AmethystPig and Muggle-L has been an almost yearly event for the last, lets just say "many" years... except last year (sigh). With travel on the menu again, we decided to meet up about half way between AP's abode and ours. Also it doesn't hurt that Towong is the last LGA that I need to shout "BINGO!" and the (relatively) nearby maps 14 and 22 are the antepenultimate and penultimate maps in my Country Map challenge.

On the way home again and we decided to stop in Benalla for lunch (as Muggle-L was going a different way from here). After a disappointing meal in one of the local bakeries, we stopped here and couldn't seem to find anything. There were lots of muggles around which made me give up earlier than I might have done normally.

Thanks anyway Team BGF

Was on our way back to Canberra. Tried for a bit and cant find will have to come back again.
