Having walked the Charming Creek railway, Oparara Valleyand the Oparara Arches, Taybeedragon and I are on day four of our four-day trip to the northern West Coast. Today, mop up the leftovers and go home.
Came out with a long pole and spent quite some time peering under the building looking for the cache. Lots of evidence that it gets quite wet under there, not surprised that the cache floated away from its home. Despite some good torches we could not find the cache. Normally i would replace the cahe, but in this case I recommend it get archived.

We came, suitably equipped we hoped, to retrieve this cache, but we couldn't even see it, let alone retrieve it.
Well the cache is there but its been shuntted about a metre further under the building, but hen again water might have done that. I had no tools to extract it, so maybe the next cacher could have a good at it.
Could see it but not reach it, recent rain must have moved it back further, need a stick or long thin arm to reach. Ice creams were delicious.
Didn't find this one - maybe before the new cache went in?
Could not really see a good reason for searching much for a hide under a telephone exchange though...

Caches along the route were really handy for navigational purposes and also an excuse to look around new areas.
Thanks for the maintenance.

Didn't find this after a thorough search by us both. Maybe a casualty of the recent heavy rain. We're most impressed by the wood carving close by.
On our way back to Westport from spending the day out and about further north. We stopped here to head over to The Trudge GC to check out the track. Pretty deserted spot so it was easy to make the find.
Found container lying out in the open in a pond of water. I think it may have been washed out from its hiding place after the heavy rain earlier. TFTC

Although we spent a lot of time looking, we failed to locate the cache... Will have another look one day...
Took a while to locate but got there in the end. Used to come here all the time as we lived down the road and Nanna and Granddad lived across the road. Drove around the block reliving old times. Thanks for the hide.
Today we set out for a daytrip to Granity to grab some caches but ended up as far as Hector. A brilliantly hot/sunny but long day. A quick find here but the container was full of water and the log was floating. We empty it out wiped it down and replaced the logbook with a minibook. Photos attached of the state we found it. Thanks for the cache

#7551. Took a little while to locate the cache. Once we located the cache I noticed some muggles in a neighbouring house. They didn't seem too interested in what we were up to. TFTC.
First find of the day, spent mostly on the Denniston plateau. This cache had us scratching our heads for a few moments until StreetWalker spotted it - how did we miss it on the first pass? TFTC.
Off to Punakaiki today. I can see why the cache floated out! Big puddle under the exchange. Quickly found and replaced in its new home. Thanks for the hide.
Found floating in the open in a big puddle. Placed behind pipe a meter away but still exposed. Tftc
I got chauffeur driven to this cache on the way home to Nelson having just walked the Heaphy. Thanks for the quick cache. Worried about Muggles across the road. I hope they didn't see what we were up to. Been past here several times while cache hunting up Denniston.

quick find by worker flying solo..we got to watch another cacher make the find next day behind a dog walkers back. A very familiar spot this to us....thanks for the cache
The things I do to avoid a DNF. I had searched with Kiwi Grandad for this one and marked it as not found on Friday evening. However lack of cell coverage later that evening meant that DNF was never posted. Back past today so thought we should try again. So there I was laying flat on the ground with two very long green poles being used like chopsticks to try and get this cache close enough to reach. It was way way I under but slowly it was moved forward inch by inch. Then it fell in a small hole behind a rock! Grrrr. More prodding and poking and a few expletives. But extract it I did and so their was signed and the cache replaced so that others shouldn't have to repeat that exercise. Kiwi Grandad just stood and shook his head. Some finds you just have to earn the hard way.
Thanks Sunday 6 for a very memorable cache.

Heading over to the Westcoast for a weekends family adventure. Stopped at a few caches along the way.
Staying overnight in Westport - Mrs G has some Family History chasing to do up at Denniston.
Came up during the morning for an adventure. As pure luck would have it they had set the museum up for their yearly Denniston reunion (people arriving when we were there)......and Mrs G got all sorts of titbits of family history form the historians there...and we took some cool photo's of photo's which had family members in them. Most cool. What a fantastic spot with fantastic history. After spending the morning up the hill we popped down here and then on to the cemetery to find the 'family' plot.
Took a bit of a search...someone had tucked it waaay back. Cheers.

FTF with Hazedarus We had a quick maintenance run to the coast this morning and it was only a few minutes drive further north to grab this cache which was published yesterday. We didn't expect to get FTF so were a little surprised to find a blank log. The area was deserted so no problems with muggles. TFTC.
FTF With Holymu. A quick cache maintenance trip was required today and a new placement was beckoning. Just a small detour and the bonus was to find the log empty. TFTC
