out in the rain no forstery workers to worry about today, lots of chopped down trees as the GPS counted down then I spotted something fake and its a real shame but its taken up center stage on the remains on a once proud tree, as per photo.
After spending a lot of time searching through the briar patch.. we decided to give up. Then Master 7 spied an easy route off the path and was triumphant. Fantastic cache!
TFTC. What a lovely surprise to find this soo cute cache.
A favourite point from me.
Thanks no.13

Our last cache ( at the moment) to find on Rough Island, so wandered in and cleared this one from our list.
Love it very well made , a lot of time has gone into this one , am not sure if its true or false haven't taken a bite yet . Left as found and in good condition.
Certainly worth a fav.
Thanks for the great designed cache R n A.

Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
Finally made it to Sunny Nelson, definitely one of my favourite places.
Nice cache!

Nice cache!
Yes our GPS took us away a bit but it makes it more interesting when you have to hunt, well done No.13 will give it a favorite. TFTC.
Yes, GPS is out by a little (but not too much), but I have no regrets at all about a little extra hunting (and scratches) to find that cache...think it makes it better actually.
Very well done. TFTC

Major unfavourite for this one. The GPS had us 18m away and right in the thick of the blackberry. Finally after leaving heaps of DNA behind the search was out wide enough to find what we were looking for. TFTC!!!
We made a nice bike ride. This is our second time and loved the ride again.
This cache was nicely hidden behind a big tree hahahaha. Definetely not real

Took a bit of searching , saw where the GPS was indicating, but surely not through all those blackberries! Luckily walked around the track and found the easiest way in. Great idea, thanks for the cache.
Out for an afternoon walk. Thought a good time to catch up on some local caches. Had to doge a muggle or two walking their dogs. Even ran into a cacher from Chch. Thanks for all the caches
Got a few scratches on our legs...but well worth it...the junior girl geocacher loved this one. Thanks for the effort. TFTC
Second find today. Not too prickly getting there- and a novel cache for the eight year old. Tftc!
We obviously approached this one from a good place as we had no problems - tftc and a neat hide.
Out to Rough Island for a BBQ tea and a walk. Three of the party headed off track to look for this one and picked out way carefully through the prickly stuff towards the GZ. Had we approached from a different track we could have got to within 10m of the GZ without a scratch, but you live and learn.
As previously noted, the GPS reception, whilst being generally good, appeared to bounce around a little, but I think this is more down to restricted movement around the GZ opposed to incorrect coords or overhead tree cover.
We searched as close as we could get to the originally indicated GZ without spotting anything looking like it could be fake or real and were just about to head back to the track when I spotted an alternative 'track' that seems to approach the GZ from another direction. Only a couple of metres off this track and I saw something that looked real but fake at the same time. Calling Master B and Miss N over the found was made together.
Thanks for this one no.13. Hides like this deserve a FP.

After a visiting the area before the Valentines Day event last Sunday, we were back today with the purpose of getting my finds count to 8999 before tackling Cross Words for my 9,000th find this evening. And there were a couple of recently published caches as an added incentive.
This took a wee while, with some swearing and cursing but the hide was worth it. Once in the right place the cache was a quick find (very nice and quite appropriate for the area) but it took a while to get to the right place with the rampant blackberry and the unco-operative GPSrs. I think I need to wear gaiters or similar when caching in summer to protect my now scratched legs.
Thanks for the effort with this hide. I suppose the location means that the risk of muggling is low.

#9164. Combination of poor GPSr reception and prickly undergrowth made for a tricky search. Eventually I widened the search area and soon spotted something interesting. Nice hide! TFTC.
A caching trip to Nelson for the Seagnoid and I, G H 6 7 1 0 has a splitting........wood job to do for a friend so had to call off late yesterday. tS and I decided that caching Rabbit Island by bicycle, culminating in the event later in the day would be just the job. Due to a few big days this week I didn't get round to sorting out 2 M T Bs for us so I had to borrow one from work and t S had to use his road bike, skinny tyres and all.
A nice day weather wise with the sun shining proudly and nary a wisp of wind, almost perfect caching weather and after 6 hours cycling we'd found quite a few of Rabbit Island's caches, yay
Colours were 'spot on', well done and a favourite point from me. You got the size just right and are a fun guy to be a cache hider.

[green] There is an event on at Rabbit Island, so Capperz and I thought this is a good opportunity to cache out the island. Couldn't quite do it, but got pretty close. Our start time got delayed as there was a hiccup with bicycles. I ended up having to use my road bike, skinny tyres and all. Wasn't a problem most of the way, but it sure was for some parts!
Given where we were, I said "It's going to be a fake pine cone (they do exist!). Get here and oh, no... Start half heartedly kicking random pine cones over, when I realised there has to be a marker to tell which pine cone it is - otherwise the difficulty would be a lot higher. Looked around for a special tree and... found it! Not fake at all - it is a REAL geocache!

Followed the very clear directions and thoroughly enjoyed the wander through the trees and digitalis accompanied by birdsong. First tried one approach but was successful on the second. Find was what I expected but a real high quality specimen. TFTC #6395
The hardest part was deciding at which entrance to park the car. After some indecision we struck it lucky. Enjoyed the wander to GZ and then Ms M spotted the cool container.

Had the time after work tonight to fit in a bike ride around Rabbit Island to try and tidy up my last five remaining caches. Fortunately the caching God's were smiling and I walked straight up to this one. Given the foreboding growth around I was very grateful. Nicely constructed container. TFTC
Got to cache zone the hard way. Phone had us jumping all over the place but persistence paid off with a find. Tftc.
Finally got around to doing this one, loved it!! I saw it and had to tap it to check whether it was real or fake!! Great effort, gets a fav from us, TFTC!!!
I certainly didn't take the best route to gz and the blood on my legs prices that. The cache container can best be described as a thing of beauty. Great workmanship. +1 from me.
Thanks no.13 for the cache.

Quick find while out on MTB ride, definitely fake but a good likeness to the real thing, given that there lots around. Right about the prickes etc. TFTC.
Great cache loved it. very busy place here today ,these some sort of bike event going on people of all ages. Sorry about scribble but pen started to fail me. Thanks.
Real got thrown by this, especially based on the time of year with a lot of real ones around!
Took us awhile as GPS led us astray under the tree cover. Looking through past logs helped and soon we had the prize. Nice one, thank you!
Back for another look this time with a second pair of eyes. GPS took me to the same place as last time but this time chose not to go bush bashing. Still no luck so widened the search area and it wasn't long before something real or fake was spotted. Pleased to say the job without a single scratch unlike the last visit Worthy of a favourite TFTC

Needed to do some serious thinking after the last disastrous visit.
Did just that and had quick find. A very clever site with lots of traps for you and not so young players
Thanks for setting it up, no.13

Where to take the dog for a run today? "You decide". An unfound cache is always a good reason to head for Rough Island, and we were rewarded with a nice quick find at gz. Co-ordinates spot on for me. Good one, thanks. Topgear01 (and dog).
This was our specific target today, it had waited too long for us to visit. With one eye on the GPS and the other on the weather we took a pleasant stroll to GZ and found a crafty cache. As we were signing the log a chap walking a couple of dogs came along the track but thankfully we managed to avoid being seen. TFTC.
The cache name was enough to put us on alert. Rightfully so. Among its peers the name says it all. A fav. TFTC
Nice afternoon for a short stroll to try to wipe out a DNF after the CO's assured us that the brambles should not be that bad. Both the GPS and phone did want us to go where we had been before - but we resisted and looked in more likely areas. SoBad spotted what we did decide was fake - at least fake for what it looked like but real for a cache.
Thanks for the cache and the encouragement to return so quickly and successfully.

No.13 you are far too subtle for me.
I spent a great deal of time searching what I would have considered likely hide spots, then looked in the unlikely spots but still have not picked the one you chose!
GPS not much help, but the large recently trampled area says it all Thanks for the cache anyway (I think!)

Drive to the gate, walk down the road and till you come to a well defined walking track on your right.
Walk along the track and the cache is off the track on your right (no need for bush bashing what so ever)
If you are in the right place the blackberries are no higher than your ankles.

We had an idea of what we might be looking for. No idea if it was correct or not as we found only the promised blackberry but none to eat . Footwear was fine but we would have needed hand protection to search further.
Had just calmed down and regained my composure after finding "Gladstone" when I stumbled on this cache. A lot more tranquil than the last but nevertheless worth another fave, albeit for different reasons. Thanks again no.13!! nice one!!
Nice One!!!!!!!!!!Rough Island is one of our favourite "walking" spots, especially along the estuary to the end of the island. Today was just a little track to pick up the cache. Nice hide. Male pride took a hit on this one. Female usakiwi's find. Much fun! Thanks
definatly not real. but way better. the real ones smell terrible when the start going rotten. tftc
There is a reason i prefer not to cache with my smart phone, its not so smart! Unfortunately my GPS is in Christchurch for the weekend and is having better luck with Sir Belac. After loosing satellites with the phone twice and when i do have them it was jumping from 8 to 108 meters without changing accuracy. Will be back with my trusty gps and more time, i have an event to get to that guarantees a smile. Surely i can find a group of cachers
A great morning for a short walk on Rough Island with Fozzie the geodog. Found a nice track that took me close to the cache. No problem spotting it at all. Thought I might have been able to drop a trackable in but there wasn't much room. TFTC, Biggles.
Scratchy location
nice easy find

Joint FTF with Sidewaze!!!! TFTC - a nice walk in the cool off the trees, the 'ah ha' of being first there, a smiley for a clever hide, a stop for a coffee on the way home. What more could one ask for on a sunny afternoon?
To cache or not!!! "You Decide". We hadn't really thought about looking for caches today, but when this was published we had no hesitation in gathering up any bits and pieces we might need, putting on some protective clothing and heading out in the cache-mobile. Our GPS devices took a while to decide which way we should head, during which time a little unnecessary blackberry stomping took place, but then reason prevailed and it was time for that "hey come and take a look at this" cry. Fake? real? fake? real? Dunno, can't decide but not game to take a bite to find out. Thanks for helping us decide to go caching, for the cool hide, and for the FTF .
