Really had hoped we’d find this one but it wasn’t to be for us. 4 pairs of eyes searching and we didn’t come up with a cache. Sorry about that. Flooding water may have been through here as seen by flood litter in trees so it might be worth a check.
This time did a wider and longer search. I’ll wait until someone Else finds it or the CO checks before coming out again.
We were just waiting a bit and filling in time before a trek around Mt Peel. We were waiting for the morning coffees to announce themselves before we set off for a walk. No one wants to walk up a hill with a full bladder, or do they?
We had the McDonalds down the road pegged and didn’t wasn’t to stray to far from it. I sometimes feel bad to use a Maccas restroom without actually buying anything. I have a few excuses up my sleeve in case I am questioned.
1. I’ve left my wallet in the car
2. I say to my wife, “I thought you wanted something“
3. This isn’t Hungry Jacks
4. You don’t have pies on the menu
5. I only came because I wanted to meet Ronald
Thankfully I haven’t had to use any yet. tftc

Found the jewel box which was not locked. An interesting and mind boggling fact is that the distance betwwen Delta and Gamma Crusis is a whopping 364 light years. 290,000 (yes- two hundred and ninety thousand!!) of our WHOLE SOLAR SYSTEMS could fit between these two stars on the Southern Cross. Makes our planet feel pretty small doesn't it?

Sunday. Celebrating recent travel CV19 restrictions and our anniversary, we decided to head up to Toowoomba to celebrate and collect a few solved puzzles. We had a previous finder’s advice on this one, and so we weren’t 100% sure we could get this one. With the luck of the Irish with us today, we soon had the cache spotted and accessed. There is a nice lot of bits and pieces inside and we soon had the log signed and replaced back into the container. This is a lovely area here.
This was the 4th of 11 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***stargon1*** for showing us this place

Amazing find couldn't find the last cache as not on the map but guessed the combination.tftf
We were passing by so I thought I would have a quick look. That's all I needed to find the nice sized container. TFTC
I had read that the lock on this cache was broken, so, as I was driving past, I decided to stop off and make the find. I parked the geomobile and strolled to GZ. There, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC
We are visiting Qld, just a quick visit as we are picking up our geoson’s car from Brisbane and transporting it back to Hobart. We are mainly here to complete (hopefully) the SSE geoart which we managed to solve when it first came out but this is the first opportunity to get them. However, we just can’t help ourselves and when we saw other nearby puzzles/challenges we had to go for them.
We were driving by here and decided to check the cache out and what was needed! Interesting area and we were able to put our names in the log book! Will continue on.

This was a cool cache but the lock is very rusted and was already unlocked. I was not able to relock it but the box is proving to be weather proof. Thanks for this neat little series that brought us to places we normally would not see.

Exploring the Toowoomba region after moving to the area from Noosa.. My Amazing Geo-Wife KaleidoscopeCass is a toowoomba local so is having fun showing me around while grabbing a sneaky geocache or 3.. thanks for the cache!
*I was up all night wondering where the Sun had gone… then it dawned on me...
Luckily I didn't have to be up all night to figure out this mystery. Thanks for an educational series

After zapping around the Starship Enterprise universe at the speed of light, Crookedpete, Swellerfungus, Keepingupwith and I decided to try our hand at this cache, as it was directly on our route to our next destination. I had noted the previous logs describing issues with the locking mechanism on this cache, and sure enough we had instant access to the logbook. Just as we were about to replace the cache we were approached my another lady who had pulled up nearby. We suspected it must be another cacher, but it turns out she was on the hunt for her missing pooch. It must be well loved - I wouldn't have been approaching 4 strange men lurking in the bushes, otherwise. TFTC
After demolishing the USS Enterprise, we stopped by for a look at this one. It was needed for a challenge for one of us who is definitely challenged! The rumor that the lock is unclosable is correct, and will need attention from the CO. While attempting to close the lid we were accosted by the owner of a missing stray dog. Unable to help she headed out to look elsewhere. Thanks for the cache.
Was out and about with SeffNJarah, CrookedPete and the MagicMushroom. We had just complete an intergalactic quest for find the Star Ship Enterprise and were heading back east stopping for a couple of caches on the way.
Found and signed up quickly, though as mentioned the lock no longer functions.
Thanks for the cache stargon!

Found with padlock open!! I can't get it shut either! Added some "jewels" and the geobrat took the plane thanks for the fun arvo!!
Found the jewel box!! Unfortunately the lock on the box is broken took Kermit (a trackable) and moving him to a new home I know he will like
Out today with Geopartner from the back of Ipswich to back of Toowoomba.
A nice sunny day, great day for caching and enjoyed our visits to these caches.
Was looking for a different colour.
Able to retrieve log.
A decent hunt revealed the cache and we signed the log and returned to where we found it.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks stargon1 All good with this cache and puzzle made easy.

Sadly did not make it to log, council were set up there working. Will return in next few days.
The Jewel Box is one of my favourite Dobsonian views
This was a very enjoyable multi cache, ending in a large well stocked cache in good condition. A favourite point from me.
Thank you for this adventure Stargon1

Great cache. My geokids loved this series and the search for this cache. Had a lot of trouble relocking the lock though.
Nice end to your series. Lock needs attention but container and contents are in good condition.
TFTC This was a good drive around the area seeing how far this town is growing taking us North South East & West all the points and i do agree that the lock may need a spray of WD it took a few goes but got it .
Thanks for the series all is good was able to lock the lock, tried it again opened and closed it again. Suggest next person bring WD40 to make it easier. I needed to move the toogles once it was closed to keep it shut. The 5 toogles have to be inline for opening and closing. So fellow geocachers following me, jiggle the toogles around and make sure they are inline and hopefully all will be sweet. But as I said it needs WD40 and I have suggested to the owner to leave a can in the tool box so that each finder spray the toogles before re-closing.
What a great way to end the series!! Top container, as previously noted the lock is broken, unfortunately. Contents in great condition. Tnsl tftc s1 Fav added for series xo
Awesome mystery and got all password to open but the locker already unlock and the geocacher before me couldn't lock it and I try to locked and it wouldn't lock it! Try to lock it for 20 mins and can't it make it to lock! Got signed and returned same place TFTC
Having found the new geocache at Mount Peel today, I decided that since I was in the area and it was a beautiful day, I'd zoom around and complete this puzzle series, which I have purposely left for a day such as today. I had read the previous logs and knew there was a chance the code was in fact not needed. However I found and signed all 5 caches, noting the code anyway. Then to find this cache. I wandered around in the wrong area... I'm thinking my phone GPSr needs to be recalibrated after today's searches! I was all over the place. But, perseverance pays and I found the neat cache container and, sadly the broken lock. I signed the log and returned it as found, having tried to get the lock working again unsuccessfully. It would be great if this could be replaced as it's a pretty neat series! Thanks for the series and the cache, stargon1.
It appears there has been an escalating problem with the lock since shortly after the cache was published.
If this is an indication of 'country' maintenance then I hope my car doesn't break down while we're out here.
The lock doesn't work at all &, apparently, hasn't for a long time.
Please attend to this so that cachers can enjoy the full experience as you initially intended it without the disappointing finale.

We decided to take on Toowoomba & surrounds again today as there are SO MANY coloured dots that need to be converted to yellow here! LOL ...
Having done the rounds & collected all the clues to access the final we headed here to, hopefully, complete this mini quest.
We spent a couple of minutes finding the cache, the colour & my poor eyesight helped with it's concealment! LOL ...
Imagine, if you can, our disappointment at finding that the culmination of our efforts doing the series was to find the lock inoperable & the cache open for all to claim.
Despite several requests for maintenance the cache remains a shadow of it's former glory.
Please attend to the lock or you may as well change this one to a traditional!
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Lock needs a little lubrication. Next finder should take some wd40 or the like.
Cheers.

Seeing there is a friendly event in the Garden City today, why not team up with some local friends and hunt down some geocaches as well? Gullivers Travels54 and Nadine1989 are our traveling companions for the first few, then Joojoo57 and Richmond Lad join us at Westbrook.
One star to go, but we are passing this cache? No, we read that the lock is broken so hopefully we can sign in without having to return back here after visiting Gamma. [xx(]

That was my first series that I have done and I had fun doing it it was a great hide but certainly watch out for snakes in the warmer months. Came across and really small baby one but that was about it. It's unfortunate that the lock is broken. TFTC and Happy New Year!
Thanks for the tour around this area around town. The lock is definitely broken which is a shame.
TFTC. We had found the other 5 caches in this series yesterday. Heading out today we collected the final in the series. As others have indicated we were unable to shut the lock.
Thanks for a great series

With Skyelilycacher visiting one her friends out at Oakey these holidays, I had a good opportunity to find a couple of caches that I needed to finish off a challenge cache.. The "J' from this puzzle cache ticked a box! After meandering our way around the area, we finally had the last WP for the puzzle Woohoo! Let's do it....
We made our way to GZ and it didn't take very long until the beasty was in hand. Unfortunately as has been mentioned the lock is no longer working A little TLC might be needed! I left my mark and then replaced the cache as it had been found.
Thanks for the cache and the series stargon1

thanks stargon. good drive around the area on a Saturday morning dropped the cobalt the cat

Hi there stargon1. We found your cache "Jewel Box" at 11:35:09 AM today. This cache makes our find count 10803.

We have been visiting relatives in Toogoolawah, and now we have returned to Toowoomba for a while to see if we can turn the map of green boxes into smiley faces.
We thoroughly enjoyed the series (and the other caches we found in between). It helps to read the cache notes though, as we plodded around on our "next closest" cache route we discovered the first clue in the third cache. So we had to revisit the first two.
We awarded this cache a favourite point - for the series.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape but the padlock could do with a good dose of lubricant; it's hard to open and close - even with the correct combination lined up.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge and huge Carabiner.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
Camped at the showgrounds with about 7 other Geocaching teams, discussion last night was around the Animal Alphabet challenge.
Plans were hatched to head off from camp at 8am to be able to claim a chalenge smilie.
After lunch Mr & Mrs Felix tackled some park n grabs to complete another day in Toowoomba.
We collected 4/5 clues to think we knew we had enough. Sadly the cache is damaged and we didn't need the code regardless.

Despite not having all the clues due to the road being closed either side of Epsilon, we had enough to guess the code. The lock appeared to be functioning when we found the good sized cache today. Cache was found safe and dry. TFTC, stargon1.
Had a bit of a scramble around before finally locating the decent sized cache. Plenty of room left inside if anyone has a large travel bug in need of a new home. Thanks stargon1.
Although we didn't find all the clues, I found enough to make an educated guess as to how to open the cache and off we went. I found a shady parking spot by some friendly horses and we walked across to GZ, where we soon found the big cache container. As mentioned in previous logs, the lock appears to be broken and so it turns out we needed no combination after all! (My guess had been right anyway, though). TFTC, stargon1. =^.^=
After watching the new Marvel move 'Guardians of the Galaxy' we thought that it might be the best time to complete the Southern Cross series of Caches. After putting together all the clues that we have collected we headed off to claim the final. We found an safe spot to stop and took a short walk to GZ where after a short search we found the Cache.
As it turns out we didn't need the combo for the lock as it appears as though it might be broken, as it was unlocked when we found it and couldn't manage to lock it when we left. It could be us or the lock so we won't log a 'needs maintenance', the CO might want to have a look just incase.
Apart from that, everything else is fine and it is always great to find a decent size Cache.
Thanks stargon1 for these Caches.

Today we did a morning of caching in Toowoomba region. From the town region & out alongsome of the suburban roads.
All the caches we found were in good condition & some wonderfull & scenic locations.
Collected all the codes as we continued around the series. Opened the cache but there is a problem with the lock. Owner should check it.

Yay! Completed this series in an afternoon with Jes5, Archie sleeping soundly. Thanks for the series! We were worried that we were doing something wrong, but a bit of a shake opened the combination!
All set for a super long week-end in Toowoomba from Friday until Tuesday.
I am in town to find all of the new caches in the area since I left town year ago.
After a morning over at the Dam I am now continuing the day on the south side.
With the phone binging like crazy I thought I would head south in search on some FTF's.
I have now returned, after dashing south, to finish this series.
I have found the box but the combo is not working
A bit of a bump with a rock and the correct combo the lock popped, seems it is getting a bit stiff. Maybe a spray of something to loosen it up a little??
Thanks for the cache.

Collected all the clues along the way and now with code in hand we hurried off to GZ. After parking the car in side road we chose the direct route, ie some bush bashing, to get there. Anyway we were out of sight of passing traffic.
What a lovely big jewel box.
Dropped off 2 TBs. Took 2 TBs to move along.
Thanks for the series and the fun we had stargon1.

TFTC series. Had a good time scooting around the country side in the little buzz box with JGlobal.
After finding the first five caches in two different trips we could finally add a smiley here. Having a little trouble with the lock we were kindly surprised by a little colony of ants (CO has already eradicated them!) we signed the log and took the trackables to head to Oz Mega in SA.
I'd heard from a fellow cacher that there was a colony of ants makings their home inside the Jewel Box, so headed straight out to do a maintenance run. Ants have been evicted and the cache has been sprayed liberally inside and out with surface spray, so this should hopefully deal with them for quite some time. Also, the lock was a bit sticky, so I worked on that as well, making sure that it was all ready for the next intrepid cachers.
