This was a fun cache. I could clearly hear my husband and surprisingly he heard me very well as well!! No need to talk loudly.
What an awesome place. Clapping hands echo was pretty funky! Pity the walk down the hill is closed.
This week has been a small group whirlwind tour round the Eyre Peninsula. This was our last stop for the trip. Here at the dam it was great fun!My friend and I dashed out of the bus and I went across to the far side. From there we chatted to each other with help from the wall. What a great acoustic phenomenon! It was easy to hear. Several others from the group also came down and chatted to me. The dam looked beautiful and we spotted some interesting birds not far from the wall. One was the unusual and rare Musk Duck. As I walked back across the wall I could here voices from both sides of the dam. This spot was one of the best places we visited on our trip!Well worth a Favourite Point.TFTC # 5964
Our great adventure begins - we're spending 4 weeks in Australia. We flew in on the red-eye from Singapore and landed at 8h40 in ADL - and 30mins later we're already outside. We'll get the rental and then it's off to Barossa Valley, where we will spend the first day. This stop was a must see or better must hear for us. Great effect, really works to talk in a normal voice over 150m. The phone experiment worked out differently than expected. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
Found with Paddle Chick. She has sent you the answers. Always like coming here.
We were told that we should visit the Whispering Wall before we left Adelaide but as this is a caching trip we probably wouldn't have bothered if there wasnt something here, what a cool spot. When we arrived at the wall, there weren't many muggles about, we both went to the closest end to start with. While we were there it was funny to hear a young child running across the wall, her footsteps were as clear as anything. As I headed over to the other side to start our test a bus load of tourists arrived and I followed them over, their driver went to where Bullertrout was and we both got to hear his talk, as they were leaving another bus load arrived and the driver came over to my side and Bullertrout got to hear the talk along with the tourists. Our answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks for the encouragement to come here. ""Sneaky Squeaky"#16477
12:33pmReturned to the *Whispering Wall* today with my daughter. So good to come back after such a long time. TFTV *SneakySqueaky*DAY 1*Little Panther* and I were out of bed at 2:30 am after having very little sleep. We arrived at the railway station at 3:30 am to catch the train, arriving at Sydney Airport at 6:00 am. Now for the pressure cooker bit, working out what we needed to do, and where we needed to go. Fortunately we managed to navigate our way to our seats. Arriving in Adelaide at 10am the pressure was on as we again navigated our way to collect our bags and locate the shuttle bus to go and collect our hire car.Settling into our car I discovered the GPS I brought was not working - grrr. To Waze we go I guess. Northward bound up the motorway and out of Adelaide, I was not excited about the countryside, it was not wat I expected, and I quickly decided I didn't really like Adelaide much. We headed to the *Barossa Reservoir* and the *Whispering Wall*, a place I had not been for some years. On arrival it was closed - No way !?! grrr !! Not happy Jan !! Can't do much about it, so we headed off to *Tanunda* and *Nuriootpa*. They were also not what I was expecting. But its been so long. I was amazed seeing just how big the wine region is here with grapes galore. I just wanted to come for a look for old time sake, so we didn't do much. With hands full of lollies and ice cream - the best ice cream I've ever tasted I might add [I love ice cream] - we headed down to *Hahndorf* to book into our accommodation. Dinner at Haus was a delicious crispy Vienna Schnitzel and Sauerkraut.DAY 2Off to the ***The Great Leap Forward Mega Event 2024*** at *Woodville South*. We arrived and signed the log book, enjoyed the fun gadget caches, a coffee, sausage sandwich, and chatted to two Canberra Cachers and one of our home local cachers who we haven't seen over a year. Oh, and bought some coins and other merchandise from the geocaching stall. Following on from that we went out caching and clocked up quite a few finds over the afternoon. *Little Panther* did a great job choosing the caches and navigating us to them. We couldn't possibly come to another state and not visit the beach. Some beach caches were very much enjoyed. Dinner was *Da Mario Pizzeria, Athelstone* - a nice crispy half and half 'Chicken and Chips' and 'Garlic Prawns' pizza. Then back to *Hahndorf* for a big sleep.DAY 3A late start to the day saw a cache find on nearby **Chase Away Your Sorrows**, a visit to the Hahndorf Bakery for lots of *Bee Sting* to fly back with us to Sydney [we spent a small fortune here], and another run out to the *Whispering Wall*. Woo hoo, it was open !! I rang SA Water yesterday to ask about it. Thanks for not returning my phone call as you said you would, SA Water. Nevertheless it is open. Next stop was the Rocking Horse at Gumeracha. I saw family photos of it, but have never been, so this was a must stop. Terrific souvenir shop. We went to the top of the horse and made some fairy floss before leaving. Some more caches were found before we returned our hire car, caught the shuttle bus to the airport, and flew back to Sydney.
The Great Leap Forward event day was finally here so with chooknchunk we set off caching chasing different cache types all the while visiting some very interesting locations. Chook recommended this location as she had been here many years ago so it was planned to drop in on our way through to Williamstown. The boys went over to the far side and the girls this side, talking to each other like we were beside each other. We had plenty of laughs as we experimented with the phone as well coming to the conclusion the phone was just slightly quicker.Studied the rock formations as well as taking many photos. Thanks SneakySqueaky for bringing us to this fascinating location, it was well worth the visit.answers on their way
Interesting history hereI sign instead of whispering to my friend.Enjoy look around hereThanks for earthcache
Brought the kids here today for the first time in some cases and a return visit in others. The four year old absolutely loved it. He and SNG had a good chat and we chatted with mobiles as well to test the speed of the wall. Thanks for a fun one.
Bit of a late log. Second time here and with a group of deaf friends. Obviously we struggled with acoustics due to our lack of the hearing sense, but for fun we split up into two groups and we FaceTimed each other from both ends of the wall, with our hearing aids connected to our phones with Bluetooth. Unfortunately for us, nothing special came up in terms of acoustics but not sure if it’s just us or our phones. Still had a nice time out there and gave it our best shot as we do when we come across something that is not quite as accessible to us. TFTC!
Brought our Qld friends here to experience the wall and some sights around the Barossa. TFTC Sneaky Squeaky
Thanks for bringing us to such a neat spot. Acoustics were really quite amazing
After a quick trip out to Sandy creek, which was unsuccessful, we thought we would pop into the Whispering wall. Having been here on many occasions, but never logged the cache. Thanks Sneaky for your work.
We were attending a nearby event and nabbed the observations fir this earthcache. We have been here many times but not done the cache before.
Its a perfect spot for an earthcacge! Thanks for putting this out for us.
Its a perfect spot for an earthcacge! Thanks for putting this out for us.
With international earth cache day it seems I had to find an earth cache. With the nearby event on, it seems this was the one to be found. The hardest part of this cache was herding the 2x 2y.o.’s back across the dam wall - twice! The 2 y.o.’s were a bit young to appreciate the phenomenon but still a cool spot. TFTC!
Found with ChrisVal7 who sent in our answers. Great spot with special acoustic properties. Old gold diggings, mines in the area. Thanks for putting this cache out.
Wow what a nice spot for an event who would have thought that you'd find and earth cache here?
It's still pretty cool to go and whisper across the wall...
Thanks Sneaky cause im pretty sure if there wasn't an earthcahe here Mrs Bee wouldn't have held an event and found this smiley

Moxie, jambochicken and I wandered across the dam, discussing the geology and then Mox and I wandered back to the first side so we could try the wall out. So cool!
Thanks squeaky!

Thanks squeaky!
Dad went to the other side, while Mum and I stayed put. That, was awesome! Mum sent in the answers(Tweety2).
Always a nice spot to stop. Picca2 loved the acoustics, could see her brain ticking over trying to work out where the voice was coming from. Thanks for bringing us back here.
My sister in law and her husband from NSW had fun.
I have sent the answers to the owner.
Thanks Sneaky Squeaky for the earthache.

Thanks for the experiment. The kids enjoyed this one. And we had the wall to ourselves for the first time ever!
I was supposed to be attending my university graduation but due to WA keeping the borders closed, we were unable to go. Instead we have been enjoying a mini getaway to our favourite place, the Barossa. Currently doing our own made up picnic tour, visiting each town to fill our basket with wares to head off for an afternoon picnic and this was a detour worth making! An amazing site to see. Thank you to the cache owner for placing a cache here and setting a challenge!
An interesting detour on our journey through the Barossa. Sent answers to CO and got a very prompt OK. Thanks for the reason to drop in here, otherwise we might have missed it.
What an amazing place! Another of those that we might not have visited had it not been for geoacaching - and an excellent location for an earthcache. We loved the turtles swimming on the far side of the dam. Logged with permission TFTC.
On holiday & Geohubby wanted to show us the Whispering Wall (which he’d visited as a teenager on a school camp). But alas it’s closed due total fire ban, so we’ll have to do it another year..
It’s a shame access is prevented due to the works, but beautiful day for a drone shot
Unfortunately renovations means we couldn't get close to the wall, and a rainy day to match, but beautiful location. TFTC
Visited the wall to whisper to the shonky wife and daughter. Of course also had to have a good gawk at the rocks. And do the phone thing. A neat science experiment. Thanks squeaky not quite as sneaky as some of your other hides...
Fantastic place and well worth the stop to do the whispering wall experiment….Thank you for this Geo goes down as one of my faves
Today we headed north for a day in the Barossa wine tasting and a visit to Maggie Beers farm shop, on the way home we detoured by this one, I have been here before and an interesting location.

A place that I’ve been coming to for years. When I was young, mum would make us collect pine nuts in the car park, and then we’d spend forever shelling them all when we got home. Those trees are gone now.
A sad visit this time with all the reminders still present of the recent tragedy. I’m posting a pic from happier times.
The wall really is amazing. Thanks for showing this to everyone Sneaky Squeaky.

Nearly didn’t take the detour here but so glad we did. Had the wall to ourselves so had a bit of fun. Amazed at how quietly you can speak and still be heard clearly. A whispering wall indeed. Didn’t do so well with here but did get a few pics. Loved it which is a big call for be because I’m not a great fan of earthcaches. Fav point for us. TFTC

Logging now before I forget....on holidays so not that organized!
We have visited The Whispering Wall before on our previous visits to SA but this is the first time since we started caching.
The kids were much younger on our previous visits and don't remember visiting before.
Little miss enjoyed the long distant communication the most.
Thanks for the Earthcache. Sneaky Squeaky. This is a great place to visit and it is always fun to whisper across the distance.

Just a brief visit, but we still enjoyed this stunning and fun location. Thanks, SneakySqueaky, we will return to play when we can spend a few more hours here.
Logging in anticipation of getting an OK here so it adds into our total as we’re on the way to our 1,000th cache today
Sorry for late log - answers sent to CO - on the eve of something strange happening to our world, I was on my return trip from Vic and stopped here to pay a quick visit TYFTC
This is the second time I have been the the whispering wall last time I only did the trad cache this time I wanted to do the Earthcache. On the way here Google Maps took me the wrong way and I ended up on the dirt road I wonder how many other people do that? The kids love "whispering" to each other.
Thanks for the Earthcache Sneaky Squeaky

What an amazing place. I loved this one for the science of it. The res. looked beautiful too. TFTC
A nice winter to be out and about, starting with a delicious breakfast at a geocaching event. Once the conversation was finished with, jesswrigley and I headed to the Barossa Goldfields to do a long loop in that area. A fantastic gem rich of history, that I had never even heard of the gold rush here. However after reading some of the ruins' signs, and one of the corporations' disasters at finding gold within the ore, I can understand why some of this history has been swept under the carpet. Finally, it was a visit to the Whispering Wall nearby, where jesswrigley and I were blown away at how cool this was, and it blew our expectations.
This location really blew our expectations, as we had laughs and giggles talking to some strangers/muggles on the other side of the wall. We tried the mobile phone trick, to hear the sound along the wall trail through phones. Another interesting experiment. Once all the fun and games were had, we returned to the centre of the bridge, and observed the gorge's geology to be able to answer this EarthCache's questions. Answers prepared and sent to the CO. Thanks Sneaky Squeaky for the preparation of this EarthCache! Cheers!

An interesting location that Mr Tardis hasn't visited for many years. Mini Tardis loved the whispering.
Observed the valley and sent off the answers. Technology isn't always as fast as you think.
Thanks for the cache Sneaky Squeaky.

Out and about with BJA3. Absolutely love this cache. I can’t believe how clear the voices can be heard as if the person was standing next to you. This is a must see for everyone, very cool .

We had a blast, so surprised at quality of the audio. Great earthcache thanks for placing. Answers sent to CO. Fav point given. Tf5f
Seems like sedimentary rocks on the near side to the car park (in the photo), possibly granite on the other side.
Visited here back in June 2017 but have just found what i did with the answers i wrote down. What a place, thanks for bringing me here and answers on the way.

A visit here on our way to Jacobs Creek, we performed the experiment & I sent my answer to the CO who quickly granted permission to log. Great place for a cache.-----TFTEC
Out and about with the family, checking out the 'wonderwall' after a 'morning glory'. We walked from one end to the other which felt like 'half the world away', 'little by little', 'don't look back in anger' and 'stop crying your heart out' 'D' you know what I mean?' my wife asked, 'some might say' we should 'talk tonight' as long as she didn't 'slide away' with her 'cigarettes and alcohol', I JUST WANNA BE A 'ROCK'n'ROLL STAR' 'all around the world' and drink my 'champagne supernova', please 'don't go away', just 'stand by me' so we can 'live forever'
Did not see any Oasis today due to the weather which also meant the sun 'cast no shadow'..
..'Whatever'
Had a great time doing the experiment, made the phone call, not sure if it was 'supersonic' though, we put the phone on speaker and put the phone against the wall, talker could hear themselves via the wall after their voice was sent from the phone, very cool! Thanks for putting a virtual here! Loved it! Sent off the answer to the CO and got the greenlight to log.

I read somewhere about the whispering wall, so we went there to hear if it is really possible. It was amazing to found out that you could hear someone talking from the otherside of the wall.
Thanks for bringing us to this place.
Thanks for bringing us to this place.
Enjoyed this challenge with a geocaching friend, a nice little drive and enjoyed some adult company geocaching for the first time rather than discussing Pokemon and Xbox with my boy. Thankyou Sneaky.
A really good spot this one. For those travelling from interstate this spot has all the useful facilities and of course an EC! Many muggle tourists are also well aware of it given the variety of nationalities wandering around here and having a go at the whispering wall.
I didn't have a friend with me but between the cache page and observation I derived the correct answer. Thanks for bringing me here Sneaky Squeaky!
