A dozen or so caches in to our Gold Coast raid cleaning up unloved caches and cleaning up (at a CITO). With a whole year of unloved on offer here, this was a must do.

A bit of a scout around and no bridge was to be found. Fungus drew the short straw to get his feet wet. I pulled up a seat nearby to offer some advice and have the camera at the ready for inevitable spill and swim. He managed neither. Lots of fun here, though the usual suspicious looks from the mum's when three grown men emerged from the bush at a playground, and then one of them stops to put his boots on.

Thanks PigWig

A 'Bromance' run around the Gold Coast today to catch some unloved caches, nice D/T caches, some unusual caches and a CITO. A great day with 18 finds, 6 DNF's (A higher DNF count is not unusual when you are hunting down the unloved!).
I can't believe that this one hasn't been found for so long. Lots of kids and parents around the area today, but none seemed too interested in us. I self nominated to grab this one, as I had been a bit of a passenger for a few climbing ones today. No drawbridge to use today, so shanks pony was the only way to get over. A quick find thanks to the clue and the peanuts in the gallery on the other side. Nicely hidden, and safely tethered. All good with this cache. I left some trackables in here to intice others to come.

29-Apr-18
The Bromance were off to the Gold Coast for the day, ostensibly to attend a CITO event, but there is always time before and after to gather up some other interesting caches in the area. A hastily thrown together list by the J.E.F.F. App included this cache as one of our targets today.

No bridge in evidence today so we drew straws as to who was going to head across to sign the logbook here. Having cat like qualities (the "shy of getting wet" type as opposed to "agility and reflexes" type), I abstained from voting and Swellerfungus won the popular vote.

I would have bet the house on him taking an unexpected swim at some stage of the retrieve process but to Crookedpete and my amazement and disappointment he managed to get there and back all in one piece. All safe and well with the cache here. TFTC

Checked on this over the weekend, due to some cache creep the container was not at GZ. Replaced the container and log book, container is now tethered so hopefully will stay in place

Last time we were in the area, this cache was missing. We noticed that it had been re-enabled, so decided to see if we could find it this time. We had to approach the drawbridge from a slightly different direction as a tree had fallen across the way we approached last time. Once we made it to the drawbridge, stortigirls was quickly in the water, wading across. Before I knew it, she was climbing up the opposite bank. She headed for a spot that was checked last time, but I suggested that she try another. Sure enough, the cache was there. With our names added to the log, she waded back to my side of the creek and we quickly made our way out of there as the mosquitoes were feasting on us. TFTC

Last time I visited this location with Selva Girls we were on a mission to complete my 25 Unique DT in a day, and sadly left empty handed as the container was missing. Today we were back in the area and seeing that the container had been replaced, thought we'd give it another go. Approaching gz we could see that the recent rain had brought down a tree across the trail to the "bridge", so had to navigate around it. The water was higher than last time, but having learnt from past experience I opted to wade across rather than balance on the slippery bridge. A short climb and another check in the obvious spot, and this time we were rewarded with a cache [^] I added our names to the log before returning to the "mainland" and escaping the many mozzies. Tftc Pigwig2!

Now how am I going to get over there.. do I wade or bush bash around.. after reading a couple of logs and without spare cloths, I did the bush bash.. in shorts ouch thru the razor grass... but got thru.. thongs got a little wet but nothing major... got to gz and search and read logs.. but couldn't find anything.. especially when it's a D1.5 it should of been an easy find.. oh well it will
Have to wait till the next time I'm back on the coast

Out with stortigirls, working on her unique 25 D/T in a day challenge. We made our way towards GZ, overcoming some obstacles along the way. Then we encountered the last obstacle. Seems the drawbridge has moved and is no longer connected to land at one end. None the less, stortigirls took off her shoes and waded in. Once she reached the drawbridge, she made her way up and over. Once on dry land again, she began searching without luck. As time was getting away from us, I decided to PAF. I was told what to look for and where to look, but there was no cache to be seen. With time against us today, we decided to move on. We will be back.

27-Dec-16
After a busy couple days with the family, it was time to head out and venture around the Gold Coast for some geocaches. Grabbed the cousin as she has never been geocaching before and off we went.

We were heading towards Pacific Pines from Upper Coomera when we noticed this one pop up on the radar. So round the round-about we go and off towards GZ. I set up the cousin with the GPSr and instructed her on how to use it and off we went. We were heading to another cache when we noticed this one en route. So we decided to have a crack [:p]

Parked up nearby and wandered across the bridge towards GZ and got about 8m from location when we noticed our challenge. Well then, this is where the fun commenced........ Punky decided she wanted to give it a crack and wow, I wish we have brought some back up..... Wearing her dads work boots, my caching pants, a white shirt, she decided she was going across... Not sure if there was supposed to be a "bridge" as the log that looks like it was supposed to be a bridge was in the river running longways.... So in she went, boots wet and tried to climb the log hahahaha down she goes..... full body in the water hahahaha after about 5 dunks she managed to get her feet on the rocks and up the side. The search was on and there was only 1 location that met the hint and soon had cache in hand.

Log signed as RWD and Punky (cousin will create an account soon), cache replaced. Coming back over to the main bank, Punky again went into the drink..... now I have one drenched cousin to take home and clean up hahahah Thanks for the geocache and the fun PigWig2 Big Grin Pict will be attached Big Grin shame you cant add videos to these logs [:p] Adding a fav for the laughs

Spent a bit of time at the obvious-seeming location (given the cache title). Looking at recent logs, we came up with an idea of where to move our search. Soon enough, the cache was in hand. TFTC!

As we arrived not far from GZ for a nearby event we stopped on the bridge to watch, with some amusement, as a fellow geocacher was attempting to reach this cache without getting too wet! However, it wasn't long before Mr. Herbz joined forces with several other geocachers to do the exact same thing! He had plenty of encouragement from bystanders, Mrs. Herbz and Paul our geomut, who delighted in running into the creek and running back out again, shaking himself and covering everyone with water on his way past! This caused some hilarity amongst the bystanders as did the intrepid three who braved the Drawbridge but then walked straight past the cache which we all could see from the far bank, but no-one was willing to inform them of their oversight. It took them several minutes to realise their mistake! The return trip was just as wet as the way over but didn't really matter as it was another smilie ticked off. Now, back to the event. TFTC Pigwig2.

14-Dec-15
I was in the park for the event and a small group decided to have a look for this one. We headed towards GZ and soon realised where we needed to be.

A couple of brave fellows offered to cross the bridge and hunt for the group. Sadly after an intensive search they came up empty handed.

All was not lost though. The CO was coming to the event and the cache was replaced at some point. My name made it in to the log book, so thanks you for the assistance with this find to all involved. Cool

After a great event nearby, it was mentioned that there was a cache about 50m away! Well, it would be plain rude if we didn't attempt it Razz We made our way with Paul, catscatscats22, Herbz, Black Flag Crew, Radnoski and Fangsoki and neared GZ. A few crossed the creek, while the others stayed to get showered by Paul once he was out of the water Razz A great adventure this one was, and a great detour from the main event Big Grin It was also great catching up with Pigwig2 at the event Big Grin It has been far too long!

Whilst at the neighboring Event today with IolantheK, teamdfl, Brother Colin, barbbowman, FastEd59, bubba89 and Slammer1989, and a host of others we decided to grab this local cache. I headed over with FastEd and Slammer, and who got there feet wet to allow all to sign in (that was of course after the container was replaced with the permission of the CO).
TFTC, Pigwig2 Cool

13-Dec-15
It's been a fun day of adventures with teamdfl, Brother Colin, barbbowman, FastEd59, bubba89 and Slammer1989, and I've caught up with T-Tech again, and we have arrived at this park for an Event this afternoon [^] Of course while I'm here I'd better get my name in the logbook of this cache. I headed over with FastEd and Slammer, and they did the hard yards and signed me in. TFTC, Ms Wig.

oh this cache was so much fun ... actually fasted and slammer enjoyed the island they went back a couple more times

so glad we were able assist the lovely pigwig with maintenance as this cache needs to stay Big Grin

At the Event nearby and got to sign the log. TFTC

13-Dec-15
We visited here way back in May and spent quite a while trying to locate a cache which we were sure wasn't there. Today, there is a nice new log & container (thanks for the replacement) found at 4.35pm during the Hinterland Round-up #3 Event. TFTC.

13-Dec-15
Thanks to the on the spot actions of this CO many at a nearby event including ourselves were able to claim this smiley today. Props must go to fasted and 'slamming sam' for scribing our name in the logbook as we tentatively looked on fearing getting wet haha. Tftc. A good spot for the summer.

We managed to sign the log after the Co had allowed a replacement cache to be placed TFTC

13-Dec-15
Arrived at the Hinterland event and several of us set out to find this one. Initially approached from the wrong side, but from there we spotted a better approach.

Slammer and I braved the high seas to locate the treasure without luck. After spending some time searching we gave up Sad, and returned to the event.

Not long after the CO arrived and confirmed we had been searching in the right spot. Not long after that the CO snuck a new container to me for replacing. We thought we got away without anyone spotting us Twisted, but alas we were caught. This started an avalanche of logging.

With the new cache in place and well covered, we returned back to base to discover this was unloved and I'll be adding it to my list. Slammer and I spent three trips across the seas to help out our fellow looters.

TFTC, thanks for the replacement and thanks for the fun. If people haven't worked it out yet, I like these sort of adventures. So definitely a FP from me.

13-Dec-15
We were in the right place at the right time to get this one. Thanks to Pigwig2 for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the location.

13-Dec-15
I visited this one a few months ago but it was cold and the water was a bit deeper than it is now so I didn't attempt it. Glad I didn't as apparently it wasn't there.

Today when I arrived at the nearby event I was told this one wasn't there to be found but luckily for us the CO was also attending the event and promptly purchased a new container which another couple of attendees then went and put in place.

They also then made the trip across the creek another couple of times so that others of us could add our names to the log too.

13-Dec-15
I had noted a cache 50m away.. but then someone told me it was gone Twisted

Then I was told it IS there.. on account of the cache owner making a purchase from All Things Geo with their stall all but 50m away at the nearby Event Razz

I heard stories about creek crossings. I was sold there. Team Herbz, Gaz'n'Kab, Catscatscats22, Radnoski, and the Black Flag crew (sorry don't know which Black Flag is who Razz) descended upon this one.

Of course Paul, the Herbz's hound, was in the water in no time. He came out and Gaz and I feared the same thing at the same time.. and then it happened.. the dog shook himself dry all over us. Damned dog Razz (not really - he's a lovable hound).

Mr Herbz led the charge and and I followed suit. Getting up to the other side was a little bit challenging. Particularly, when one of the smaller logs I was using started to crack. I really should lose some weight Razz All was good and we got up to the other side safely.

Of course we all looked in the wrong place before Mr Herbz came up with the prize in good condition. We signed the log and returned it to its home. Getting back down wasn't as difficult as I thought and thankfully got to the other side intact. Even getting over the fence was a lot easier.

This was a fun and challenging cache to do - with great mates. Have a favourite point on account Big Grin

My GSAK tells me the last Pigwig2 cache I have done was in April 2013. For shame - it was nearly 3 years Twisted Even worse - when I have enjoyed each and every Pigwig cache I have done.

TFTC Pigwig Smile

A small group decided to look for this cache which I had DNF'd some time ago. Seems that many eyes make light work and we soon had this cache in hand and the log signed. TFTC Pigwig2.

13-Dec-15
Finally we were able to get our signature on the log for this cache. We'd come a few months back and couldn't traverse the water - but today was a different story. Another interesting cache location and great cache from the top of the tree Miss Pigwig2. We love your caches and are pleased to have a smilie on this one finally. Cheers! [^][^]

Leaving the search for another day.

03-Sep-15
Although we didn't end up looking where we think the cache might be we shall still log a DNF because it wasn't in any of the places that we did look, lol. I was doing some scrambling while JooJoo57 gave directions. But that was about where our hunt ended because she saw a snake not far from where I was and warned me to a quick retreat. After that she insisted we leave it for another day. As already spoken by someone famous: 'I'll be back!'

Sometimes it helps to visit a geocache with the cache owner and sometimes it doesn't. This was one of the latter times Twisted. "Pigwig2" didn't offer much assistance, except to say that the nearby playground has some fun things in it. Well yes, it does and I had fun there after finding the cache. There is even some video, but first ... the cache Surprised.
After being pointed in the very general direction, I set off towards GZ. It's all fun and games until you get to the cache's namesake. After two false starts, I turned around to find the cache owner close by with a phone ... hmmm, more video [B)].
Third time lucky, I was on my way and actually got to the cache in one (dry) piece. Signed my name and tried on the sun glasses someone has left in it. I took my time re-hiding the cache as I knew the phone was still pointed at me for the return trip. When it was impossible to delay any further, I returned to the bridge, drew a breath and walked back ... just like that [^].
No one was more impressed than me, I can tell you Big Grin. I really thought I'd be the star of a very embarrassing video. Well, some days are diamonds, right? [^].
Thank you "Pigwig2" for placing this cache. I can honestly say that if not for the geocache, I wouldn't have gone there Wink.

I was driving around the Gold Coast looking for something to go and take a look for and this icon popped up in the general direction I was heading. So I figured why not take a look and see what I can find.

I parked at the suggested parking and headed in the direction the GPSr was indicating. Soon though I come to a problem, maybe there is something around that I can use as a drawbridge, but nothing that caught my eye.

Looking around a little more soon showed me just where it was I had to get to. So I wandered in that direction, saw people in the park so took the access a little earlier then I planned. Soon enough I was very close to the cache, just a few more steps and I was there.

A quick look around and the cache was soon in hand, and the log book retrieved now with my name added. Getting back to the car was a little more interesting, but all in all managed to avoid any mishaps.

Sometimes things just work out and sometimes they don't! I approached where I thought GZ should be, checked the obvious spots, and a few less obvious ones. Then I decided to consult my GPSr, 26m away... hmmmm.... this is going to require some re-thinking! I read a few other logs and decided where GZ would have to be and set about making my way there. Now I am one who really likes solid ground so this was not the easiest of approaches - but I got there.

Soon had CIH without even thinking about the clue and inscribed my name on the log. Visited a few TB's and then to get out of here. I'm not sure whether getting on or off was more difficult but I can assure you it wouldn't have looked graceful either way! I do wonder if anyone has ever gotten wet here and if so would they own up to it?! This cache was good for a challenge and a laugh. Glad to have earnt this smiley. TFTC. TNLN. SL.

I was at the lovely nearby park having a play with geoson and geocousin who is visiting from Melbourne. A check of the nearby caches revealed this one was in close vicinity. I wanted to introduce geocousin to this excellent hobby and this seemed like as good a place to start as any...at least it seemed like a good idea at the time, but I should have known better given it is a Pigwig cache :-/

We began with a quick search of the obvious location but to no avail. Following the GPS a little closer we moved to another location, this time a little closer to the creek….but not luck there either. We looked across the way and decided that is where we needed to be and, after a bit more trial by error, and a few trips back and forth over the ‘bridge’, I stopped to scratch my head and have proper think about the hint…then it all made sense! At that point I spotted the cache and sent geoson in for the find. We got there in the end and lots of fun was had by all. Thanks for the adventure Smile TFTC.

There is the easy spot to place a geocache, and then there is the fun place! Always the latter with a PigWig hide!

Today Net88 and I were chasing some handsome D/T ratings on the Gold Coast and upon seeing this one, headed for it. I was happy to find some decent parking and as we both were feeling the pangs of hunger, stopped for a bite to eat. Recharged, we headed off.

There were a few ducks getting about as we headed for the spot. Naturally the first area we went to had no access to the geocache, but we could at least see where it was hidden. As an aside, I spotted a fishing net nearby.

After relocating oneself and hopping over the fence and bashing through the grass I could see the geocache container - but I still needed to get within arms reach of it. Being the lanky sod I am, I was sacrificed and sent across. I didn't have any dramas and quickly had the container in hand. All in good condition here and so our names made it into the logbook. Rehidden and now for the return. I was less graceful on the route segment, but had dry shoes at the end of the day.

A lovely little challenge in a nice park. It is always a pleasure to find yours, TFTC PigWig2 Smile

Captain Terror and I had decided to spend the day on the Gold Coast picking off a few caches that made for happy Difficulty / Terrain Ratings. We were in the vicinity of this cache and as a rule we try not to drive past a pig wig cache so we were soon en route. We parked the car and unnaturally for us we stopped and had a drink and a bite to eat before heading over towards the cache.

We tried to access it and quickly realised we were in the wrong spot. We backtracked and before too long I had sacrificed the Captain's dryness and let him take the lead on this one. He crossed the drawbridge with the ease and before I had even decided to follow him or not he had the cache in his hands. I gave him the privilege of signing the logbook and replacing the cache then he headed back across with the grace of a sloth. Thanks for the cache pig wig. We were not disappointed Smile

We did this right on dark without a torch, not the smartest thing to do,but steady steady one foot in front of the other and we soon had the cache in hand TFTC

22-May-14
Arriving from the wrong side of the park we wandered over the Bridge and said hello to the muggles who were just idly standing around... Mmmmm... Hopefully they won't be long. A quick trip to the nearby toilets and they were gone... We jumped the fence and headed towards the drawbridge. Anth skilfully crawled across followed by Golden Dire Wolf. It was GDW who spotted the cache and we both signed the log while Sal looked after the phone back on safer ground. Heading back down the drawbridge was a bit less graceful but we arrived back nice and dry. Thanks Pigwig2 for hiding the 598th cache that we've found so far! Smile

On arrival at this latest one, I summed up the situation and decided on a plan... which nearly came unstuck just a couple of times, but then found the cache!!

Another one in the theme "some wading "may" be required"

First attempt on Saturday by Geohubby was muggle central at the nearby playground. So today we ventured out with Plan A and Plan B. Geohubby wanted to come in via the back entrance but I was ready to take on the Drawbridge! So with Aquasox on my feet we ventured toward GZ. Jumping fences is not my forte being vertically challenged but Geohubby pointed out a nice rock for our return. After a few failed attempts on the drawbridge I decided I would go through the moat and scale the rock wall! Thankful there were no crocodiles in the moat I crossed quickly and safely but scaling the rock wall also made for some entertainment and photographs Surprised After conquering the rock wall I spotted the prize quite quickly, signed the log and prepared for the return. More photo opportunities as I descended the rock wall and crossed the moat, climbed up on the drawbridge and there was the welcome hand of my Prince Charming to help with the final jump! After requesting the very large water dragon move along from our rock we made it over the fence easily and High Fived each other for our additional smilie!

Thanks for the fun PigWig a favourite point from us! Big Grin

In hindsight.... There had been quite a bit of rain in the last few days...... and the "drawbridge" was still a bit slippery as a result...... or so I found out as I slipped off on my return trip and ended up with wet shoes and pants.

The water appears to have come a bit higher than usual but the cache is safe and sound. Thanks for the cache Pigwig and a bit of a Saturday morning adventure. (It cooled me off a bit to go home and mow the lawn)

Find number 1888.... so here is something you didn't know (or maybe did know) about 1888...... Currently the year 1888 is the year that, when written in Roman numerals, has the most digits (13).

MDCCCLXXXVIII

This will be surpassed as late as 2888.

Out and about again after work today and this was the first stop. Smile
After a DNF down the road I thought I would give this one go. Smile
So I get to GZ... actually a better phase would be NEAR GZ. Razz
I can see how to get to GZ but due to an injury getting there is going to be 'tricky'. Wink
Why is this a regular situation when looking for MsPigWig caches Surprised
OK, so empty pockets of all things valuable and start the 'crawl' to GZ. [^] I made it.
A short search later and I am signing the log. [^] O look an easier way to get here...why am I not surprised that I have taken the long way. Big Grin
Thanks for the cache.

With another busy day planned with the family I had decided to get up early again to spend a few hours caching then get home before they woke. I saw this one published last night and knowing the area pretty well I had a fair idea of where it was going to be so I knew a night time hunt would be some what crazy. But as it turned out it was still a little dark when I arrived this morning.
I pulled up in the suggested parking area and there was a 4wd already there, they started up and drove back towards the road and then stopped with lights and engine running the whole time I was there, weird.

Anyway after casing the area with a torch my thoughts were confirmed and the mission commenced. As it was still early, dew hadn't evaporated yet so the girlie approach was needed. With a quick look on the GPS the cache was quickly found. FTF at 5am.
I spotted a small turtle swimming around the edge of the rocks looking for food. Maybe 20cm across. Knowing the area floods pretty hard at times I was surprised to see him in this lake.

Cool spot Pigwig, thanks for the hide.
