Was a mission getting through the flax but found quite easily after that. Was a bit lower than head Hight.
Nice evening walk in a deserted area. The hint was most helpful as there were a few hiding options. TFTC!!
Hard to get through the flax but an awesome spot to put a geochache! Such a great walk.
Nice easy find with nanzie on our trip around the place Great day for chaching tftc
Nice easy find its a lovely place to admire the view and and the sub paddle chick has mentioned it to us and said we should go and take a look this deserves a favorite Thanks for hiding the cache here Isis58
I avoided the very interesting dilapidated structure and made my way through the overgrown flax just to GZ. I tried to get the cache without going any farther, but this didn't work out. Left: Discover Me Tag TB. TFTC.
Argh, what a shame the original was archived. Just read Bitsprayer’s log and had a bit of a laugh. Looks like it was an adventure back in the day. Not so much for us today, it was a sedate walk along a well formed track. Quick find for me, took a trackable as well. Also enjoyed reading the logs on the sub - I think Wai-iti mentioned they were hoping to get to Australia in it. Brilliant! TFTC Isis.
Located with Ricardinho This man loves his time with his head in a bush, so I left the bush wacking up to him. I held the fort, documented the find with a photo or two & enjoyed the view

Thanks for putting out this container for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*Soon located, plenty more light rain today*
Great trail and relic - remember coming here for the earlier cache, no flash walking trail then!

Nice to be away on another geocaching trip with tmann421, travelling to a few places in the upper South Island.

We live in Ruby Bay and didn’t know this walk was here. It’s a fantastic walk. Kids spent ages playing in that structure on the beach. Kids found the geocache and we popped a trackable in to.
This took me a bit to find. I think I looked in all of the other similar places first! stepped back and had another go and wallah, TFTC
Wow, it's nice here!
Great spot for hiding a cache!
Thanks for showing me the track.

Thanks for showing me the track.
Was in the area yesterday but for some inexplicable reason missed this one and it was only when home and logging I realised I'd missed it.
Tregearp was studied out from yesterday and keen to grab those I found yesterday so it was a return visit today.
I quick enough find at the final although there was some debate about whose head height it was - certainly not the CO's!
All in good order, signed log and replaced as found before stopping to have a poke around and closer scrutiny of the two features nearby.
Thanks for another Isis58 cache.

Some very interesting structures in the area which we had to checkout, the cache a relatively quick find, SJT_NZ is shorter than me and his head height was nearer to the actual head height. TFTC all in good order
Out for a walk with the dog this morning (and grabbing a few caches). Nice quick find. All quiet and in pristine condition. Thanks for the cache.

No sign of this one. I had a spare camo in the garage but couldn't find it before I came to check but actually the hide needs a bit more thought as the plantings have grown considerably since my last visit to the area.
Not sure whether this survived the storm, but we could not find it despite a very specific hint.
The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara and I are exploring the Tasman region again with the Giff evening last night. Today its Mapua to Motueka along the back roads in Toby - so lets GO!!
Loving this track. That eel trap is amazing. Another quick snag and tag. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I were in Mapua last night, for the GIFF event, and today are winding our way via the back roads to Motueka.
I like this little walk, and so here's a favourite, mostly for the sculptures. The submarine confused me at first - I thought it was a legitimate eel trap - would need a crane!
The CO mentions an earlier cache here, and especially one particular log. Would have been nice to have a link to that cache / and/or the log. Oh well.

Found it but took a while ; nice place with views to match. found with MTBNSN. Thanx4tc
the things people make, looks like a lot of work too, probley best it wasn't finished as it could have been a one way trip..
Despite the best of hints, and accurate co-ordinates I still took too long. Got there in the end, T F T C isis58
mrs capperz has headed across the Cook Strait to visit our North Island family and I don't have enough leave to be able to go along too, stink. So, for this 3 day long weekend it's just me and (former) nightowl19 keeping up the Marlborough end of the deal. I decided a three prong attack would be the deal for this weekend; 'Nelson' (and surrounds) on Saturday, French Pass/Bulwer on Sunday and Northbank on Monday. And so it was. I managed a respectful 31 caches on the Saturday and headed over the hill at a decent time (much to miss 15's disgust) but we had a couple of nice walks in the Nelson sunshine and found some cool caches, including a mighty 6 Multi caches.

Ha what the heck is that? Great views from gz, of things usual and unusual. A great hide too - my walking companions impressed by my improving geo sense, likely wouldn't have found it 6 months ago.
Thanks very much

Wow someone had an idea - not what I had expected to see - will bring the grandkids here one day to show them - it will be interesting to see what their imaginations make of it. It was an awesome spot today with the tide in tftc
Nice to get out and go for a walk after all the rain we have had lattly. Found the cache and a few other interesting objects thanks for bringing me out this way.
Checked this while walking past today. The vegetation has grown a lot since placing this so have updated the hint
What a wonderful bit of coastal restoration - but what on earth is the great beached thing over there? Fascinating!
What a great location and interesting object but what on earth is it ? Submarine, Zeppelin, commercial oyster catcher ? We enjoyed guessing. Took us a few minutes to find the cache. Thanks Isis58 for the grat stroll.
A couple of interesting finds here along with the cache. Never knew they existed.
love the walk way great place to put a cache again but it took a little time to find.Cheers
Took a while, walked around for ages and almost gave up but checked one more spot and there it was! So glad i persevered, a great hide!!! Interesting feature too, thanks for bringing me here, TFTC!
My third and final 'put-things-right-by-righting-a-DNF' find for this lunchtime trip.
Thanks to the CO for confirming I wasn't looking properly during my first visit. I'm sure approaching from the opposite direction made all the difference - not! But the slightly more explicit hint and a little glint of sunshine on the container at the first place I looked made for an immediate find today.
It's a lovely, tranquil place here, so I'm glad I had a good reason to return.
Thanks

What a cool place. The kids had so much fun - climbing, exploring, sticks, sand etc etc. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks to the generous family who have created the walkway and great access.
Nice One!!!!!!!!!!!!Quick find in a neat little hiding spot. Love coming to the "eccentric's folly", yet on the other hand, everyone should have a dream, he sure had his.. Beautiful winter afternoon for a walk with Paradise Ducks all over the place. Sure different now than the first time many, many years ago when a walk in the mud around the estuary at low tide was required..Much fun. thanks
I went and checked this cache out this morning. I'm sorry msebn I found it more visible than it probably will be again for a while. I'm upping the difficulty a notch or two and adding a little more to the hint. It was gorgeous down there this morning
I've been wondering about this myself because there's been a few that have found either end but not this one - then again they may have chosen not to do the whole walk. I'll check it out later next week.
I came Un-stuck at the Un-Sub today, so I'm going to log this DNF.
Every good cache should have one and this is it.
There! I said it! A DNF. I'm not proud.

Having battled our way to the old sub cache it was interesting to be able to saunter up the broad path to nearby for this cache which we just about over thought and with fading light just about gave up on - but Stretch0 came up trumps with an ah ha moment signed log and decided it was time to head home for a well deserved coffee - thanks for bringing us this way on the new track
As we walked along the track to this one could see a familiar site or two. MMM a lot easier walk this time along this track and a lot quicker too. Started to search GZ but was having no luck and as the light was fading we thought we were in for a DNF but rethinking my search i soon came up trumps and could hold up the cache :_). Thanks for the cache and bringing us back to the area
I visited the sub on a club kayaking a few years ago before I started caching. That time we arrived right on low tide and had to drag our boats for ages to keep them clear of the incoming tide, and then another what seeming like a long walk through mud to reach the sub. It's so much more pleasant visiting via the track. Quick find thank you Isis58

Felt like a drive, a walk and a cache so headed in this direction and satisfied all three urges. It's so good that the Yellow Submarine cache has its very own replacement. - - - Such a legendary tale amongst its logs. - - - Getting to the cache on foot was almost as legendary for the rest of us!!!
This is a cool cache too - - - for different reasons. The new walking track is such an asset to the area and I loved the hide! Thanks!

We should have taken heed of the last finder's comments and read the cache description more carefully. Read the bit about the cache not being under or in any structure, but missed the word "on". A lot of time spent looking in the wrong place . Very boggy underfoot, so thought the cache couldn't be hidden at GL. It was only after reading everything carefully and moving slightly in another direction that the wee blighter was found. Pretty much where the GPSr was indicating too. I don't know why we always make hard work of D1 hides!
Thanks for hiding another cache here as it well deserves a visit. Laughed reading about Bitsprayer's adventures in the area finding this cache's predecessor. Some people will do anything to get a new geomobile . TFTC.

#7505. We enjoyed exploring the area. The sub did look interesting; should have gone over for a closer look. TFTC.
Hmmm. I nearly walked away with a D1 dnf. That would have been embarrassing. I wish that I'd read the last sentence in the cache description. That would have helped. Although having checked the hint I was "fairly" certain that it wasn't where the last cache used to be.
Last time I was here I was waist high in blackberry and gorse. What a change. I somehow wasn't expecting the path to be seaward of the shed and so close to the sub.
A fave for the memories of the previous epic to get here and for Bitsprayer's legendary log.

This morning it was time to tackle a few the geocaches nearest our new home. It's a gray, damp and dreary morning, but the dog needs walked. I set out to find all current geocaches on the so-called Pukeko Track, a gift to the community from local, gracious landowners.
A modicum of research will provide geocachers with the rich history and misadventures of those who have come before and given the track at least one of its unusual features. It is worth a click and scroll to the first link below to read Bitsprayer’s log and see photos when another cache existed here. These days it’s much easier to access.
History is written by the winners, or at least those who think they know the story. Here are two more links giving varied origins of this deep-sea wonder.

We had been looking forward to finding this cache - having reminisced about the previous one that commemorated the feature. It seems the saying that no-one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public is true in NZ as well. Equally we are also appreciative of the generousity of many people - which includes obviously the landowners here who have opened the track for others to enjoy. Which again we did as we did the circuit. And also thanks to the CO who made the effort to add the extra cache to replace the previous, rather more challenging one.
A favourite for all of the above.
A favourite for all of the above.
The original was one of those "special" early caching adventures for the KE team. Obviously the surprise factor has gone but this is still such a beautiful area and a fun reason for a cache placement. I also liked the new cache name. Just a little bit more cryptic than the original. Or am I reading too much into it.
Out with the whole family this evening for a walk and of course Ellie's first time here so still some surprise factor for her. We took the old access to gz as that would be more fun for Ellie and left the new track caches for another day. A quick find at gz once some track walking muggles had passed by. A favourite added from us.
Thanks Isis for the cache.

Co-ordinates spot on for a quick find. Quite impressed with the walkway they are developing here. Good stuff. TFTC
First time I've been on this little peninsula. What a lovely spot. Cache had me going for a while but then something spotted my eye. Gotcha!! Cheers Isis58
Never did the early version, it was on the "if I'm desperate" list. Enjoyed an evening stroll to claim this one. Nice piece of sculpture!!

Before I could decide where our caching adventures would take us today after Hazedarus finished work I got a txt from him saying he was in this area with time to kill so no more needed to be said.
We never got to find the previous cache here, by the time we started caching the area was too overgrown to be accessed although we did try! A very pleasant wander down to GZ today soon netted what we had been denied before. TFTC.

Unexpectedly I found myself with time on hand not far from the Pukeko Track. A quick text to Holymu and not long after we were on our way. Initially I was rather confused by the hint. Then the cache showed itself from a crafty hiding place. TFTC
Yes, I have a memory of making my way to the old cache that was here. Definitely a lot harder in the days before this walkway. The old sub is much more rusty brown than yellow these days. New cache wasn't in the first place I looked but it didn't take too long to find it. TFTC, Biggles.
FTF. Wasn't aiming to be first so was surprised to see log empty. I remember the old cache that was here. Took tb

We were expecting a new cache to pop up here......we never did get to see the origonal.
We also checked out the progress of the project.....or it's UN-doing.
The guy was mad !
Thanks for the find.
