Today I took my simple boat for a good paddle on Orakei basin with my friend Diego (photo). We had the opportunity to explore many places there and had lots of fun. Before starting our adventure I went fo find this one, nice view from there.

Unfortunately the logbook was really bad, so took a photo and sent to the CO.

Brought my Dad & Mum to Orakei Bay Village with the rest of the whānau for a delayed birthday treat at Moustache Cookie Bar for Dad (Mr McArgister!) After that we all walked round the basin. Great idea until Micro McArgister fell asleep in the pushchair and then we realised that there were quite a lot of steps!!! Anyway, we made it and while we were on our way round Micro & Mini hid in the bushes to pop out and surprise us. Turns out they were hiding right next to this cache! Once I told them that, Mini made a quick find. Then Mini made a big noise as a bug crawled out of the cache cover and onto her hand! Very nice and secure camo. Thanks for the birthday boy cache!

Found it! Great view from the cache

23-Dec-19
We had an online purchase to pick up in Orakei, so took the opportunity find a couple of caches a bit further away from home. Parked in Orakei Basin West Reserve then realised that the cache was "up there." Made my way up, then along to GZ. Had a look around and spotted something that looked out of place. Checked it out and yes it was the cache. Thanks.

Terrible cache day. Looked for 3. Found none

30-Nov-19
GPS turned to custard as we moved away from the lagoon so we're not even sure we got close.

Labour Weekend - Saturday. With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This long weekend has come at the right time for us. We are using the extra day to get a jump on the TMGT. Auckland and Northland are our targets...

Our next point of interest was at Bastion Point. Naturally, our route brought us past a few hides, so we decided to pick off some of these caches... A much quicker, straightforward find than its busy neighbour. Thanks TheJosh1 and TFTC.

26-Oct-19
Found 11.25am
Labour weekend in the past has been a Mega weekend, but not to be this year.
Rough plans made last minute as to what we would do, so target was TMGT caches in Auckland, lots of solved puzzles and any thing else we passed.
Plans always change as we got half way through the weekend and decided also to collect the Te Tai Tokerau TMGT caches also.
First stop for the weekend was a visit to Waikato Hospital to visit a Huntly cacher who has had a knee operation. (guess this is going to slow him down for a while)
The weekend seemed to fly by and before we knew it we were back home.
Thanks to all the cache owners for the cache placements. SLTFTC

Here today with darthcacher1 and purply. We parked nearby and headed up to GZ. As we approached I said, the logs say it is a clever camo. Purply reaches in and says here it is, it was a clever camo but he spotted it straight away. Thanks for the cache.

03-Apr-18
Deserves a favourite point for bringing me to this lovely spot on my way to work today, with the sun shining on the water & a tui singing in the tree above the cache.

25-Feb-18
Out taking a walk around the basin this afternoon and collecting the caches as we go.had never taken this route before but what a great view with a bonus of no muggles either.spotted the cache quiet soon but it wasnt until a little while later that we decided to check it out more throughly.

25-Feb-18
Out for an early morning walk while the other half was still sleeping at our accommodation for the weekend, nicely camped cache which I spied immediately.

20-Feb-18
Around mid afternoon today, a massive downpour hit where I was working... and I have to say that it made me a little nervous as I hadn't yet found my cache of the day. And so later this afternoon when the rain died down, I left the office in search of a cache in order to keep my current daily streak going. So that is how I came to be looking for this particular cache. After parking as close as I could, I made my way to GZ on foot. Wow! What a view! I had never been up here before... and as I was looking out over the basin, along came a muggle out walking his muggle dog... so a photo was in order while I waited for him to pass. Once he had gone I began my search, and thanks to your hint I soon had the cache in hand. So I have signed one of the logs in the cache, and I have put the cache back nicely for the next finder. Very creative. So thank you TheJosh1 for taking the time to set up this cache and for bringing me to a cool place. I really appreciate your efforts. This one gets a favourite point from me for the view! TFTC! Smile

03-Oct-17
Great location with a wonderful view over Orakei Basin. Clever camo. Thanks The Josh1.

02-Oct-17
I really don't recommend taking the short cut that I took to this cache. Turned it into a Terrain 5 and quite the adventure that unfortunately included back tracking to find pen and phone that had fallen out of my pocket. Now covered in considerable amounts of mud I re-approached the cache from a more appropriate direction. Physio may be required on knee and shoes will never be the same. Great cache though and took all of 10 seconds to find once I got there.

17-Sep-17
Out and about here caching up and we decided this was another we wanted to find. Initially we talk the low road and then when MrsJag50 wanted to go bush and climb the steep terrain MrJag50 checked his GPS and suggested we wander a little further to where the low road met the high road. Got to GZ and soon had the cache spotted and log retrieved.

17-Sep-17
Today was a dot day so decided to come to the Orakei basin to pick up a few caches. Good views from up here! I spotted the likely hidey place quickly but had to get past the many guardians of bugs and spiders to extract the cache Smile TFTC!

17-Sep-17
Hoooray

13-Aug-17
Had been looking forward to today all week with another goal in mind to try to grab a few Auckland based caches that "obviously" needed collecting (as it would just be right). So at 4am I met up with RWIMF for a good days caching and an over ambitious plan (Home by 3.30pm). We signed most of these with "RWCD" or some such variation there of.
So today I managed a grand total of 54 finds (only 3DNF's) and plenty of conversation. All I can say for the days activity in Auckland was that traffic was all good till just before 10am and absymal for the rest of the time until we started heading for home so that I could still get some chores done for the day.

Now that we were in the right spot for ease of access we were please to quickly locate this one. On walking to GZ we were glad that we hadn't straight lined it from the previous cache's parking spot. Cache all Good.
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Now puffing after walking to this cache! being here at 8am on a saturday is a good time, noone is around Smile

I'd received a message from cats & dragons asking if I wanted to do a mission a few weeks ago - he wanted to clean out some new caches in an area he'd cleaned out a few years ago. I'd shrugged and said "sure, but could I have a rain check as I was overseas" at the time.
I arrived back in the country on Monday, and so he had the adventure planned for the following Saturday. I said I'd be happy to start early, as long as it was my early not his - so we negotiated a 4am pick up Smile The good thing was we left Auckland at about 2pm, so was home at a reasonable time.
The good thing about these trips? he has all the caches logged into the GPS, and he gave me a print out, so I could mark them off Smile

30-Apr-17
Easy one !

24-Mar-17
Very clever hide. Never been to this place but loved the view. TFTC

04-Mar-17
Out for a Saturday afternoon adventure picking up some gaps in the eastern suburbs. Tftc. Stunning view

05-Feb-17
I found the previous cache here, so was pretty sure it wouldnt be a problem.. and it wasnt. Thanks.

04-Feb-17
There were a couple of muggles standing right at GZ taking photos when we arrived so we stood a little further down the hill admiring the view until they left.
Fortunately we had seen similar camo before so made a quick find but had we not been familiar with this type of cache it could have taken a while. Very cleverly done.
Thanks for bringing us here. Great views.

30-Dec-16
In my younger days I always wondered what was up here. Thanks for taking me for a walk along this path. TFTC

30-Dec-16
Out for a walk this morning in the area; great view at this point especially as it was high tide this morning. Nice camo, TFTC.

25-Dec-16
After completing the Orakei Sea Scouts, I saw this was was near the end of the road. A short stroll, and GPS showed I was close. OH Boy! I obviously chose the wrong path to GZ. Heading up the hill is not advised. There is a longer but easier path to GZ. Once I found the easiest way to get up over the cliff, GZ was in view. I spotted a familiar object. I had found a similar hide last Month in Tokyo. Log signed and replaced before any muggles came along. Then I found a better way back down the hill. TFTC

18-Dec-16
Millions of ants cache. Tftc

18-Nov-16
Lovely early afternoon stroll getting to GZ. Thankfully the muggle who had followed all the way up headed into a back garden gate, which meant a quick retrieval was possble. Beautiful view, admired once the cache had been replaced. Streak day 697. TFTC

08-Nov-16
AT long last the opportunity to get this one. Didn't take me too long as I have a cache that's very similar.
Tftc never walked up here Before.

31-Oct-16
Beautiful view that I would have never enjoyed without GC

31-Oct-16
Beautiful location. Nice cache

11-Jul-16
Unfamiliar with this area and how to get to where the cache was so parked at waterfront. Wrong idea. Ended up bush bashing up the side of the cliff with the 2 geokids - it was a bit of fun though and we made it and soon had the cache in hand. Took the easy way back down. Wink TFTC

03-Jul-16
Well placed! Enjoyed finding it.

04-Jun-16
Weird spot though lots of dog poop

03-Jun-16
Great hiding spot! TFTC

22-May-16
Great hiding spot. Nice view of the basin. Walking around collecting one's around the basin. TFTC

22-May-16
Clean tidy and clever

04-May-16
Found today w the kids.. Unfortunately cache covered in ants and tiny maggots, thankfully the boys didn't mind getting their hands dirty wiping them all off! Cache might need some attention

03-Apr-16
Was tough but yay our first one

02-Apr-16
After a visit to the Garden Centre with Mrs Tuo Lei there I was standing on a Sunday morning sidewalk. Decided to stroll up the hill to this little park up the road and walked the line of the path up to the GZ. There's a great view over a former burning ring of fire which is now a pleasant boating area. Didn't get too close to the edge as the last thing I want to do was fall into a burning ring of fire.

Anyway no need to get too close to the edge and a quick look confirmed a good candidate for a hide adn sure enough found. Clever hide, well done. TFTC.

05-Mar-16
R and B are out for some cacheing today. Beautiful day to be out, unfortunately no water skiers using the ramp we can see in the Orakei Basin. Neighbor muggles having lunch in back yard but plenty of cover for the discrete cacher!

29-Feb-16
Come to finally drop off a trackable and a GeoKrety we've had for far too long, but sadly they don't fit!!!!! We'll find another good home for them.

29-Feb-16
Quick find approaching from the correct angle Smile

13-Feb-16
Cute little cache with great natural camo in my neighbourhood. TFTC!

17-Jan-16
On a trip to Auckland with Davidson Clan to take part in a Browns Island excursion. Picked this one up while we were out and about. We appreciated the view and the camo but had to make a hasty retreat due to the time of day (maybe before 6am) and the proximity to the neighbours. Cheers TheJosh1

17-Jan-16
On a road trip with Phillip Perry we made a quick find we were very quiet as this was very close to the neighbours and we didn't want to wake them as it was a hot night they had their windows open. Signed log then retreated back to the van and onto the next cache.
