Happy to convert a sad face to a happy face now. Bit tricky but we found it this time! TFTC

01-Dec-23
Today's target with McLookers, Micaparamedic and Muzza was to finish the HSS series we started yesterday. But we couldn't resist doing nearby other ones too. A great day, with no promised rain and really nice temperatures. Signed all as 3MC.

30-Nov-23
Muzza located the hide, with a bit of teamwork we extracted the log, signed and replaced. A favourite from me.Visiting the area with Muzza, micaparamedic and ConnieandRick to complete the HSS Series. We signed the logs 3MC.Thanks for placing the cache Jamin Appleford.

Found with Connie and Rick, McLookers and Micaparamedic. It took a few minutes to locate the cache, then a few more to find something suitable to extract it. Nicely hidden. Thanks to BeechworthSC1 for the cache.

Found with gwd.aussie.Travelled over the mountains to tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon. Got a bit sidetracked grabbing this one but since we were passing. Took a little while to spot thankfully gwd.aussie had a TOTT to assist with the retrieval of the log sheet. Thanks Jamin Appleford

Chook joined forces with The Tritonz and headed to Wangaratta for a couple of days, with the main targets being to find a few solved puzzles and tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon. This was one of the caches we found along the way on the bike trail. Observing the terrain rating, we were looking in all the wrong places and eventually resorted to a PAF. After no response, we decided to cut our losses and continue on our way. Then the PAF came through as we were only a little way up the trail, so we turned around and rode back. Not long after, we soon had this very cleverly hidden cache in hand, and luckily we had the right tool to get the log out. TFTC BeechworthSC1.

With Geelong Cup and an RDO leading into our weekend it was time to head up north in the company of chooknchunk and finally try and complete the HSS Series before the CO finally says goodbye to the Basketball caches forever.Today after a 4 hour trip and a few exciting first to finds we set off to tackle the top bike trail late in the afternoon. The fit Triton and chooka jumped on their bikes while I moved the car along conveniently along the rail trail. All trads and Hoop hides were successfully found, albeit some were higher terrain than we expected, taking longer to locate and sign.We spent way too long looking for this one as we had noted the terrain and were looking accordingly. We resorted to a PAF who replied after we had just left so we turned back around and looked once again. Certainly worthy of the difficulty rating. Thanks Jamin Appleford for the sneaky placement.

Out with the family today, competing a few more of the HSS series and whatever else we stumble across. Awesome Spring weather. A clever hide here, middle geokid tracked this one town pretty quickly. TFTC!

Time to head north for a bit of a break from work, targetting a few special caches along the way, with some night caching and 4wding thrown in.

After I spotted something unusual, we had a closer inspection. Then RoamingHowie MacGuyver’d a tool from nearby available stuff to retrieve the cache. Very clever! A fav point for the effort.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Jamin Appleford

OzHockeyChick and I had decided to join the Eldorado night cache group assault and headed off early (a whole day early!) to grab a few caches along the way. After a successful 4WD and weekend it was now time to wrap up in the area with a few more caches before heading home.

OzHockeyChick found this one relatively easy but we had to improvise for a TOTT and the initial ones didn’t work. We managed to make use of some other items around and finally signed the logbook.

Thanks Jamin Appleford for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Found doing the M2M rail trail with 2 of my sisters over three days. We started in Wang and rode to Beechworth. The next day we coasted 14km downhill from Beechworth and then rode to Myrtleford. Finally we rode to Bright on the 3rd day.

Staying in Beechworth on our way home from Geelong and we found out you could hire electric bikes in town. Considering we had a somewhat later start and came back well before the sun went down, I think 40 finds and a couple of DNFs is a good effort! We got about 1km from Everton but we'll reach there another time. Mum and I went as far as we could after 5 hours of riding before we turned around to come back. We got trapped into a false sense of security because we went downhill the whole way and then had to go uphill basically all the way back and we were worried our electric charge would run out with all the assistance we needed from them to get up the hills! But nonetheless, that made the effort feel even more fulfilling. The ride was lovely and the area is sublime, and today was the perfect weather with blue skies and lower temperatures. It was almost as though we visited six seperate areas considering how different they looked to each other. Awesome stuff today!

I didn't read the description for this one at home so when reading the GPS upon arrival here, I thought a different TOTT would be required. But, that seemed impractical for this series. Looked around here for a few minutes and then spotted, a completely different position to where I expected. Luckily I had the correct TOTT after all! Cool hide, TFTC!

Wangaratta Mega time and with the FFLL ladies, we had planned to attack the big rail trail whether it was rain, hail or shine. Well the heat sure did knock us around and plenty of hydration was required across the day. We had a time limit today, as there was somewhere we needed to be in the evening so we got through as many as we possibly can.

Continuing on the trail on our ebikes, made our way to this one for a find and sign. The heat today is getting pretty intense, the hydration bladder is getting a workout Smile

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache BeechworthSC1 Big Grin

Day 2 at the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.

Plans were made to attack the rail trail so with the eMtbikes loaded onto the car we headed to the furthermost part of this trail. Plans were changed as part of the team managed to break her foot and ended up being our ground support which probably actually worked out for the better. Hydration was kept cold and on hand if needed or should anything else go wrong.

All caches found along this trail unless otherwise mentioned. Sorry for the generic logs.

Thanks for the hide and maintaining BeechworthSC1

When dalerious said that we will be caching around Murmungee today, l had a gander at some caches that l was yet to get. This one happened to be disabled when l was on the rail trail ticking off some of the Hoop Series. Fantastic, l thought. It was enabled just at the right time. I relished the thought of finding it whilst in the company of a astute cacher. Success, log signed, job done. Cache as you would expect was found in good condition.

### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###

----------

Hi there BeechworthSC1,

This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that **MAY** need some attention.

You may recall having received an automated email from Geocaching HQ which explained what you needed to do.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to have happened, so I am having to take the next step and temporarily disable the cache - see here: [**Geocache Health Score.**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713)

**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days so others know exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication kill this cache.**

#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-

- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache and repair and/or replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.

- **Place A Write Note Log:-** Reviewers are not mind readers, so without your note on the cache page telling them what the situation is, they can't tell what is going on with the cache.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and, when the listing is next checked, all will be fine for a little bit longer. But be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it.
If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date), please ensure you visit this page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks so as to keep everyone up to speed with what is happening.

- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another Geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned and processed accordingly.

Honestly, I'd rather you decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

**JUST A TIP:-** Have you checked out the new Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own? Have a read about it [**HERE.**](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/welcome-to-the-cache-owner-dashboard/?newsletter=PM) You will find your very own dash board [**HERE**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner?utm_source=geocaching&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=COD)

Thanks for your cooperation,

Bunjil

After I logged the last DNF a previous finder messaged me the info I needed, I though I checked there, but not good enough.
I ended up spending too much time looking around it for something much harder.
Well, I didn't find the cache, but I found where it was meant to be, checked with the CO and yep that was it.
How the hell does that go missing?

Took a few attempts but finally found on the way back to the car. I had actually look for this one (briefly) on a previous visit, but probably didn't have the appropriate tool (though I may have improvised if necessary) - in the end I wasn't even close.
Read a few logs before today's visit and so knew where I needed to be but still took two visits today to finally spot the cache. On the way down I hunted and probed and had no luck - after 10 minutes I thought I better at least sign one on this trail so headed off. Eventually found two (though one is archived and unfortunately locked) before heading back. I had thought a bit more and had confirmed what the actual container was so knew what I should look for.
On the second visit I used two tools to successfully find the cache. though the more illuminating of these wasn't really required. Once again got where I needed to be but it was on the way out that I obviously looked in the right direction and the cache was spotted. The other tool then quickly extracted and I signed as I was in position and returned as found.
Glad to get this one - it has fooled some experienced cachers and a nice DT combination that I don't get too often with a Trad cache.
TFTC Beechworth SC1 - I will be back to finalise the last few in this stretch another day

### Beechworth Murray to Mountain Rail Trail Everton ###
-----------------------
Day 2

I’ve spent a couple of days in Beechworth
The landscape is beautiful, lots of nature and animals
I’ve done a day trip with my bike today along the Murray to mountain rail trail.
Some of the cache coordinates were quite off and I was looking for the caches quite a while on my own.
I am just asking myself who does one hide small micro caches in the bush when there is so much space for bigger caches?
I didn’t find all of them but I’ll still intend to log all since I’ve been looking for a while and some of them might be gone anyway
However, weather was nice, about 30 degrees and I had a lovely day

Thank you for the nice caches
Greetings from Germany

Ah ha...small fingers helped! And so did perseverance Close enough to the summer solstice that means lots of daylight for finding the well hidden, pesky, entertaining and/or clever cache. Time for cache hoopla and to fill a few gaps with smileys. Thanks for the series - fun way to explore a few back roads in the area.

14-Dec-18
Day 1 of 3 in the Beechworth Bright area for Trailstevo and I. 12 months ago we were here and had to get back for some unfinished business. We collected a few cache on the way up, all pretty much drivebys and then onto the Beechworth rail trail to continue on where we left off. Picked up around 30 on the trail and then stopped for a few solved puzzles in the area. The weather has been so bad here in the past day, but we were serious lucky to not get wet today. Luck to see an echidna and 4 tawny frogmouths sat on one branch. Has been a good outing today. Heading into Bright for dinner now. Thanks for the fun.

With not ever being along this rail trail, it certain now has peaked my interest only that it is s far from home. We saw plenty of riders today, surprised seeing it was a Monday. DAB and I both guessed what this hide would be and were both wrong. We searched in a lot of places but until looked in the right direction, we found this very sneaky hide tucked away. Our trusty leatherman came to the rescue when retrieving the container.

**Thanks to BeechworthSC1 for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

After climbing to the top of Mount Bogong with Na'wal yesterday, we wanted to find some less strenuous caches today. We did a quick search of the map and came up with a few trads and some mystery caches. Once again the weather was very kind to us and a great morning was enjoyed.

On the way to this hide, we were throwing around ideas of what we thought the hide would be. Turns out we were both wrong. This had us trying different things, all to no avail. It was Na'wal who spotted the clever hide and a tool soon had us signing the log. A clever hide indeed. TFTC BeechworthSC1 Big Grin

First day of a great long weekend geocaching along the Mountains to Murray (MMRT) trial ride. Caching the trail only took half the day and started at Beechworth with weather that provided great cloudscapes and had me wearing all my warm bike gear. We had to clamber up and down slopes on this first section of caching adventure. Have to say the caches out here were a bit tricky and took a little looking for at times. Loved the large cuttings in this section of the trail.

Special thanks to Strange Trousers for organising the caching weekend ensuring that we did not have to ride up hill all the way. Having a friend who encouraged me to do a long bike ride over several days with what was meant to be flat and was in fact rolling hills – map reading is an important skill to learn.

On this day it was nice to have Grimrader join us on the bikes – have to thank him for being the back-up guy and provide transport of bikes and people on the second day.

Loved the views, smell of peppercorns and lots of laughs along the way.

Logs were signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". Thanks to my companions today: CBRChic, Kittykatch, Grimrader, DarkSideDan and Joolay.

#4104 33rd for today

Day 1 of our Mountains to the Murray (MMRT) trail ride. We started at Beechworth "station" on a cool & slightly drizzly day, but please to see the recent rain had abated. We didn't get started until lunchtime today due to other events, but it was still very cool as we set out along the trail. We reeled in the cachers fairly consistently, but there were some tricky ones and others that we required us to head off the track to make the find. So it was hard to build up a rythym. We aimed to get to Everton by dusk today & we did just that.

Tricky.

Logs variously signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". Thanks to my companions today: CBRChic, Kittykatch, Grimrader, DarkSideDan and Joolay.

Thanks to the COs: BeechworthSC1

Fantastic day riding to Everton on the first part of the trail. The rain held off and we had a good day. But it was great when the sun came out. Lovely area and great trail. Did not find all as some were tricky. Found with Kittykatch, Canberra Chic, Strangetrousers and Darksidedan (Capital Crunchers) on a caching trip to Wangaratta to ride the rail trail. Thanks for bringing us here

09-Jun-18
Today is the 9th of June 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.

Great hiding spot. It had several geocaches looking for about 10 min. We found it in the end and we also found a massive spider. Did I mention I hate spiders.

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Along with the end of spring, it is the end of this visit to the cache rich area of NE Victoria. We have had an amazing time in the very good company of Suscoe. We found this cache among the many trails, puzzles, geo-art and multi’s, the CO’s have created, often highlighting local history, the fabulous scenery and of course, providing immeasurable geocaching fun for everyone!
WOW! Did this cause us some headaches. Our basic tool was not the right one for the job at all. Mr S finally solved the mystery and showed us the best angle of approach. Favorite awarded.

Our thanks to BeechworthSC1 for placing this cache.

It was a most pleasant day with sunshine and a gentle breeze keeping the weather in the mild zone for us to enjoy.
Thanks to BeechworthSC1 for this hide, we were not sure what tp expect and after a bit of looking and probing, we altered the direction and there it was.

8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.

It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.

On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.

A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

Smile Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) Surprised, mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on Razz, realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got to close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. Big Grin My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]

Thanks to BeechworthSC1 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

Simply evil. We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.

One of many fun finds on along the way on the "SAW STUFF" road trip to central Victoria with Shonki, Astro, Waldron, Southern cross, Twdg, Uni & Freddo [^]

I was on leave so plans were made to head to the Beechworth area with My good Mate the Roostaman, Today the weather was perfect and we spent most of the day riding the MMRT trail from Beechworth to Everton, I was glad I had not decided to ride my 2k carbon bike down the trail as it turned out half the caches were off on another much rougher trail?? We found several of the caches along this section with wet and full logs. Thanks BeechworthSC1 for the cache.

**# 15129** Found on an absolutely excellent week long adventure with Rebel Acts. Wink
A perfect spring day for another ride along the MMRT trail from Beechworth to Everton.
Lots of muggles around today and a lot of wet caches that will need maintenance.
A tricky hide that took a good search to locate.
Thanks for the cache BeechworthSC1,

Another I have DNFed, but this time I had spotted it within a minute of getting off the bike thankfully as it was too cold to be searching for too long. Much better pedalling to keep warm.

TFTC Cheers.

This is the 1st of 3 caches we didn't find today. Twisted[:(!]
[red]We spent quite some time here at around 8:37:00 AM, but we just couldn't locate your cache, so a DNF from us - - - not stating it's not there... just that we couldn't spot it. Twisted

The first stop on the bike after lunch, but no success. The question of a tool didn't arise, as D couldn't see the cache after searching high and low for more than our usual 10 minutes. Our thanks anyway to BeechworthSC1.

Found 11:47:00 AM, on a cycle expedition down and then back up a portion of the Beechworth to Wangaratta rail trail. We were swooped by magpies four times and saw a large black snake across the trail during our journey, and finished the day at the Bridge road Brewery.

TNLN, thanks BeechworthSC1.

It was a great day for a bike ride so thought it was time to come back and pick up the new caches that have been placed since we were last here. Like others before us. we looked here and there, then once on the right angle spotted the clever hide. TFTC

TFTC.We dedicated that this morning would be ideal to walk a section of the rail trail and collect caches along the way.
A very sneaky hide that had us clambering all over the structure. Then a moment of light as I spotted the pesky cache. Quickly in hand, SL and returned.

#3285 - 07:45; After a good night's sleep and an early breakfast, it was time to hit the trail with Sol de lune and fitzy_1965. Made our way to GZ and commenced the search for this cache. Searched high and low without success. Checked the hint and previous logs, no luck. Kept searching as all indications were that it is a tricky hide! After about 20 minutes, with three pairs of eyes checking every possible nook and cranny, fitzy came up with the goods, just as we were about to give the hunt away. Nice not to DNF the first cache of the day Wink. TFTC BeechworthSC1 Cool

9536 + 1078 = 10614. Found during a trip down to the Beechworth region with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n.

We were up early to hit this trail. We started here, and what a start ! The three of us spent a good 15-20 minutes looking all over, but then from a certain angle something was spotted and the cache retrieved ! Easy in hindsight ! Lol.

Thanks BeechworthSC1 ! If thats a sign of things to come this will be a great run today !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

Headed down from Canberra with fitzy_1965 and LuckyL10n and this was our 1st find on our 1st, and only, full day on the trail this trip......and what a good one to start with. After almost 20 minutes I was ready to head off...time was ticking....but another look in a spot already check by the 3 of us, fitzy came up with the find.

Great to grab it and start the day with a tricky one.

Thanks BeechworthSC1.....

[u]MAINTENANCE REQUIRED?[/u]
[navy]This cache would appear to be in need of owner intervention, therefore I am temporarily disabling it so as to stop it showing up on search lists and to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.

Geocache maintenance is a cache owner responsibility. Your prompt attention to any log that indicates things could be amiss will be greatly appreciated by all geocachers, see here http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance
The guidelines advise; if you can't fix it straight away then Disable it till you can . . . . . . . and here's how; http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 . . . . . . . . . . I have disabled it for you this time! [^]

Please respond to this situation by 6th June to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness. Sad

If you require more time, please be sure to post a "Write Note" log (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.

For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to date, or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

And don't forget, once you have addressed the issue, post both an "Owner Maintenance" log, see here; http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404 and an "Enable Listing" log, see here; https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 to get your cache up and running again.[/navy]

The school groups have not been out this way in a while. We WILL check on this cache as soon as possible. The staff involved with maintenance are dealing with car issues at the moment and have not been able to get to GZ lately. Please refrain from archiving.

PLEASE NOTE: This particular hide has been difficult for many cachers to find. A handful of DNFs does not necessarily mean it is not there.

One of only a handful of DnFs today on a Good Friday caching run with AnnoyingTarbit, LouiseAnn and SirJ-Oz. We had a pretty thorough search-around - even exploring the unscrewability of a couple of possible spots - but unlike the water tank came up empty. Luckily this cache was a bonus rather than a required find, and the time spent searching was a welcome break from all the riding we'd done so far. Thanks anyway BeechworthSC1.
