poor snappy has left his post, will need to wait until the roading is finished before finding a replacement
It was time to head for home again this week been in Feilding twice this week. Lots of road works here busy with heaps of traffic. Thank you or placing a cache here, we got out of here real snappy before more traffic came our way. TFTC
None of us lost any fingers when we found the cache so we call it a success. TFTC
A fantastic day to be out on the road caching, especially when you're making your merry way back from having just attended a great BBQ and caught up with plenty of good folk from the wider Manawatu-Wanganui community.
I was keen to try to claim some finds on or near SH3 between Wanganui and Sanson as I hadn't had any time up here since the same event last year and so there are still tons for me to go for. The weather had certainly turned it on for the day, and I was in no rush to head back home.
There was a Puzzle final nearby, which sadly I could not find, but came here hoping to make a small amends. Loads of available parking and few passers by meant that I could take a leisurely stroll to GZ, which was easily identified. The cache itself was also a quick find, although it took me a little while to extract the log for signing.
But once I had it in my hand it was quickly signed and replaced exactly as found. I even heard a toot-toot from a passing car who turned out to be a cacher I had last seen only a couple of hours earlier at the same event lol! Small world huh?
Thanks for placing this cache.

MEGA TRIP 2018.
As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.
LEG 4: Homeward bound: Todays plan was to grab a few caches this morning around Feilding before heading home via the "Virtually Stunning" virtual cache.
This mornings plan was to locate a few of the solved puzzles around fielding, before heading north. We also though the stroll through Kitchener Park would be a great start to the day.
No problems finding this cache.

It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.
Found the bitey wee cache but luckily no fingers were lost in the retrieval. Thanks for the cache.

During lunch time on Friday I flew into Wellington from Auckland to meet up with some crazy Hamilton’s (11HPG11, Cats&Dragons & HKCB) to spend some time at the 2018 WENZ Mega, Cape Palliser, Castle Point and then driving the huge campervan back to the Tron. With some hours sleep in the giantvan we collected some more geocaches in the area before moving on. TFTC

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...
An entertaining little thematic hide... TFTC.

Team BOP are still going strong after knocking off 155 caches yesterday.
We have made it into Fielding and concentrating on a few targeted caches or ones in close succession.
I have one just like this. It was great to find something a little different.

Road trip time again! This weekend Team BOP consists of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. As with these trips, most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements. We replaced some logs and containers but most had water proof paper and were all good. A huge thank you to the co’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!
Snappy indeed but everything was fine here, TFTC.

On a road trip with Team BOP to Feilding. Set off Friday night and back home Sunday. Lots of caches and lots of laughs with great weather and great scenery. Thanks to all the COs for giving us a awesome trip
On a road trip with Team BOP, having a blast and gathering a few smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Auf der Fahrt Richtung Wellington haben wir hier noch vorbeigeschaut und das schreckliche Biest gefunden.

This was our final find after a great weekend visit to Feilding. Following the advice that we did not have to cross the fence to find it, Mrs 3Prettys headed straight to all the thorns along the fence to conduct a thorough search. (What a masochist! The rest of us have learnt to hold back and look for most hospitable search areas.) Happily, it wasn't long before we were searching the car for an appropriate extraction tool (Corkscrew, anyone?) and then one of our more standard TOTT for the second phase.
Thank you for a fun search with a cool ending!
(& thank goodness those geochickens held off, they give us the heebie-jeebies!)

In Feilding for a couple of days and out and about before the predicted wet weather.
A favourite from me.

Busy on the road today but managed to retrieve without being seen. Looks like top has come off so nothing covering log and it is very damp. Great little hide that made me laugh when I spotted it. Tftc
Had to pull out the first aid kit! For the tool I mean. Geo chickens nearby wanted us to leave but we prevailed. Lid is cracked so will need to be replaced or water will get in. Tftc!
Finally getting around to logging this many years later. Found with bdp while visiting my family. TFTC
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
#815 Was heading to Feilding to visit a friend and for a play date for DangerSAM. Realised i had a dot day, being todays equinox, so took this once in a yearly opportunity to get rid of it! Was attracted to this one by the fact it was a quick park and grab, and had so many favourites. Easy find in the end, although i focused my attention on the other large object that was obviously a no go. Log has been replaced by someone so its all good to go for more finds. TFTC!
#17 Off to Feilding for a play date with my mate. I was supposed to be asleep in the car, but i wasnt, and then i ended up real grumpy for the rest of the day. I reckon being allowed to play with this cache container would have cheered me up, but i might have lost a finger? I need my fingers.... Thanks for giving mum something to do!
Found during a day trip to Feilding. Snappy was very quickly spotted. Glad I had tweezers to avoid any damage to my fingers. So many admiring visitors that the logbook is full. Thanks for this smiley marisa&kaleb.
Walked around in a few wrong places till I used my geo sense - snappy was found and signed !
Found it after avoiding the mass of wasps congregating on fence. No fingers lost. Tftc
Found with Criostal. Out and about celebrating little cacher's 3rd birthday. Lots of room to park and quick find. TFTC.
Teeps and Mum Leena and Mum. Criostal and Loch on his third birthday! First ones in the new log.
Loved the cache container and placement. Makes for interesting caching. Will add a favourite shortly. tftc
Over thought this one initially, until I spotted it in a more obvious spot. TFTC.
Great container! looked like someone had been feeding him beetroot today.. unless maybe it was blood from snapping off a finger! TFTC. number 18 for today.
Quick stop with our boys on the way back to Wanganui - collecting a few caches on the way - tftc - lucky we were able to extract log from the snappy monster
Quickly spotted and retrieved without any fingers lost. Last find of the day as we head back out of Fielding.

Making our way out of fielding to go to the midnight event, we took this route saving quite a few in this town for another trip. We found Snappy after walking past it and proceeded to ask directions but it seems snappy had trouble speaking.
After Logging duties completed we set back off back on the road.
Cheers

After completing the Rotorua Tough Guys & Girls Challenge in the weekend and then having to drive south for work on sunday this was going to be one of those very long weeks. After having completed a series of presentations yesterday today was going to be a simple one, training the Local Rep in the morning before heading back home hopefully in a lot better conditions than wha tI drove down here in on Sunday.
Finally a chance to grab the last few caches while on the way home am fortunate enough for Mrs Dragon to be getting home late tonight so a chance to grab a few more before making the made dash north. I had noted that the number of caches around this town had increased since I was last here so may as well collect a few smilies before I leave the rest can be collected next time I'm down here.
Nicely themed cache and was well cammoflaged by the nearby parked trailer unit
Thanks for the placement and the fun

I dropped by here after visiting friends nearby..a quick find..re-hidden after logging.TFTC!
on a birthday trip around the north island, almost lost my finger on this one, TFTC
Grabbed the two Kitchener Park caches then wandered up the road to get a little snappy. GPSr was right on the money and took me to GZ where I looked into the toothy reptilian thingy and saw what I was looking for. Signed the log and walked away with all fingers intact. Thanks for the placement marisa&kaleb.
Great to get out in the fresh air after work and go hunting for cache-eating monsters TFTC and and a big smile to go with it.
Today I teamed up with Advanture Collectors to knock off the new power trail and to see if we could manage to get 100 for the day for the first time. An awesome day out albeit a tiring one. We both achieved our objective. This cache is just one of the 100+ caches that we found today. Parked alongside and spotted very quickly TFTC

#6480. A stop on Awahuri Feilding Road on a sunny day. GZ was all quiet. Quick find. Nice hide. The cache was in good condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Called here today with Yeetrees on a day trip to the Manawatu. Spotted quickly by Yeetrees. Signed log, TFTC
Having been out on a night-mission to grab a nearby cache this seemed like a good two-fer, having made the trip all the way out here. Searching by torchlight normally makes things a little more difficult and an initial look didn't prove too promising. However stopped for a moment to consider potential hiding spots and had a 'light-bulb' moment with something unexpected caught in the beam of the torch. Did take a bit of fiddling to extract the log, having left the caching kit at home [B)], but soon on our way home. TFTC.
Finally found it!! Was just about to give up when the man who lives across the street came over to ask what I was doing and he ended up spotting it!! Out done by an amateur! Excellent hide, gets a favourite from me thanks a lot
Really? I swear marisa&kaleb hides get smaller and smaller and more difficult to retrieve lol! Fingers fine. Tftc. A great hide.
Had a scrap with a Turatara which was a great distraction while the log was retrieved. TFTC SL
On a bit of a roadtrip to Turangi with bkj97. He decided on an early 5am start and breakfast in Feilding so it was obvious he was planning a few caches on the way. This was number 3 for the day. Retrieved with all fingers intact.T4TCSL
Found with little blue hen on the way to Turangi by a rather circuitous route via Fielding. Didn't have to wrestle with this one. TFTCSL
Came here when road works was on so gave up and returned today and Mrs E found it without loosing any fingers many thanks deserves favorite.
Caching some Manawatu spots on a not so favourable Labour weekend Sunday.
We were snappy with our searching and snappier still with the retrieval. Nifty kind of a cache set-up this one. Approached with caution.
Cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden then, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

went out to have a look, well it is pretty tight moved so cache could still be grabbed.
Following recent road works etc, the hide support had fallen over. Now it's been put back up old snappy is there but being squeezed. Might need an owner look.
Looked today without success but hadn't much detail as this was not on our list today as we ventured up Kimbolton way. on reading the logs think we were searching in the wrong area as we were over the fence.
Definitely forgot the golden rule. Read the Previous Logs as well as the full description before attempting.
Spent too long looking for Snappy close to the river!
Spent too long looking for Snappy close to the river!
Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.
We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.
We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.
It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.
We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.
And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.
Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually.

A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.
To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure.
Cool little placement here, nicely done, TFTC!

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!
Nicely "hidden" and after a small operation the extraction was successfully performed!
Thanks!
