Woodhill Forest now requires permit and permission for all access. Forest management have asked that all caches be archived. This cache can be unarchived if appropriate explicit permission is gained.
Decided to use this sunny day for some geocaching in the Woodhill Forest. Was looking forward to this one in particular as it wasn't found in over a year and had some interesting logs arriving from "Call Me" . Love this kind of bush bashing and I wasn't disappointed. If you hate dense gorse, cutty grass and fallen rotten trees don't go this way! Made it to the geocache with some very minor scratches and a feeling of achievement. TFTC
What a flamin' mission! I came down from 'Call Me' cache, initially everything looked OK. But when I got to my first hurdle - many more to come - i.e head height gorse and cutty grass, I got out my TOTT: hedge-trimmer-limb-loppers thingy. Snip snip snip. I knew this wasn't going to be easy from previous comments so I bought along this 'tool'. So I ended up cutting a path to GZ. I was absolutely buggered when I finally got to GZ. I'm sure there had to be an easier way to get here from "Call Me' but I'll be damned if I could see it. Look at Google Earth and it looks very easy - don't be fooled people!!! Anyway, in usual snooplebike fashion the cache is not under any trees so when I did find it I sat down, congratulated myself with some chokky bikkies and a much needed drink. Then I started to look at a way out of here. The direct approach to the road looked really good and do-able, I absolutely did not want to go back the way I came so that is the way I took. Couldn't believe how much easier this way was!! I was on the road in about 20 mins. If anyone wants the track log I made on my GPS then let me know, I have a waypoint from the road which will mean a steep climb but so so so so much easier than coming from down the hill from 'Call Me'. Thanks so much snooplebike for the cache. TNLN.
Geocoin retrieved. Please note change in cache description - now much harder to get to! Still accessible, but now a real challenge
You area gem Snooplebike, was going to gear up in my protective gear and chainsaw and head up. Sure is abeautiful spot when you get there.
Could next visitor to cache please retrieve geo coin tine for it to be on the move again. Cheers
Not sure whether the route we took was the best option but got there, being the last to arrive my companion had cache in hand, enjoyed the view and had a breather while we worked out the best route out, went to get up and go when realised I was sitting on GZ. Followed what we thought was the best route down if I had the energy I would have got down and kissed the road, lol. Had a great day finally ticking off these three but in hindsight not the best ones to pick with a head cold. Dropped off geo coin.
Had looked at google maps and thought hey there is a track we could follow..famous last words. Walked down from "Call me" cache, it started as a track but then became an opening with gorse and cutty grass either side, but we pushed our way towards our goal. Luckily being dressed for winter meant extra layers! should have read previous logs more closely. Took in the views, then tried to establish were the path was back to the road, eventually we fell across the path. A full day of fun, thanks for the hide and bringing us here.
OH MY G@D. What a mission. Next time I will do a bit more thinking before I set off, as the crow flies does not work in the terrain. This is a T3 maybe if you take the path but its more like a T6 if you go the way I went. The gorse and the kutty grass, so much gorse and kutty grass. So much of it it haunted my dreams. Great view once i got to GZ. Cache held the perfect swag if you found this cache a bit late in the day or found yourself in a bit of trouble.
Your a legend snoople.. its like a stationary shop (or is it a smiggle?) in there ... haha.. on our way down in the chilly wind
. Heading for the end of the day... thanks for the hiker terrian.. lochy forget her gaiters again.. hopefully she will remember next time..... ps we love ur reference to golf.. too right..

out on a stroll with Alligatorsnz..ouch what a dumb move to forget my gaitors. It was a good trek once again, up and down hills..through a bit of gorse and cutty grass. Just the way we like it. even a bit of mud. And GZ was great...cache title very suitable , like scurrying ants with their sticks chasing their prize. The swag was great too...i will have to return with some to exchange
Out with Tufty for another day in Muriwai to pick up those we didnt get last time we were out this way. Parked at the marked car park and set off for our long walk.
We headed to this from Call Me, but despite reading previous logs on both caches we took the bush bashing route and I probably now have a few scratches up arms, face, legs, even when they were covered.
At GZ a pointy stick made quick work of finding the cache. now how do we get back to the car!!
Thanks for the cache

Yorkshirekiwi83 and I decided to finished off the Muriwai caches we had to leave behind unfound 4 weeks ago. This is where we had a little fun when we went downhill from the Call Me cache towards this one. There was a sort of a track through the head high gorse and cutty grass. Luckily I came with a little armour-plating so that I didn't leak any important hydraulic fluid. After finding the cache we continued to go downhill, literally not mentally, to the road.
Cheers for the cache.

Our last cache of the day. After bush crashing a long distance to the previous one, how could this be any worse? Well it could, and it was hard work getting here, but here we got. Found the cache and we were happy. Lovely view over the golf course. Now" How to get out of here?" Oh well it looks like we just have to fight our way through the forest.
Took the vague track down from 'Call Me' cache. Used my backpack as a battering ram to get through the gorse and cutty grass enroute but found the cache quickly enough. An excellent cache-thanks.
Took the cross country route to get here. Not too bad but I didn't hit any gorse. Great view, have brought the dogs here for a gallop many times. Think they enjoyed the rest while I signed the log today. Tftc!
PLEASE could the next person tell me the number of the trackable I left in there? Or can they 'grab it from somewhere else' I got it from 180 sh16 kwik fix #17 and forgot to log it before I dropped it off here.

Saw this published last Friday night so made a plan to hit this up and the other new caches early Saturday morning, getting out to Muruwai roughly after sunrise.
Decided against the direct bush bash on the drive in and instead parked at the carpark and followed the path to the east and then another path to the south and pretty much up to the cache.
I was concerned it could be a bit of a search at GZ and wandered and started enlarging my search a bit but then focused on where my GPSr was leading me and soon spotted the hide. Opened it up to find a blank log (FTF)!
Thanks!

We approached this from above on what a first seemed a reasonable track but soon deteriorated into a bash through cutty grass and gorse. When the going got to rough we found a track leading away from the cache but this led us to a much better downhill track, but unfortunately not one that would lead us to GZ. We picked our moment to go bush again and had a relatively easy last 90 m , though a little steep in parts. Took a while for the GPS to settle at GZ, which had a few shorely not comments flying but on reading the description realised we were in the right place. Eventually after a little searching the GPS did show the way, a little excitement as we opened the log book to find it blank... but wait Simon signed the back page!
TFTC, the cuts and the scratches, even Mrs Sp8 said she enjoyed it and she normally frowns at anything remotely off track.

Parked at the horse park and then set off for three first day finds. This was the final one after Call Me. The bush bashing was more like gorse bashing between the two caches. Too steep to go direct to the road so followed a sort of track and then picked up an easy track that came out near the horse park. TFTC
