Still confused. Why was this disabled for over 6 months until now, and why has another cache been put here called Who killed the Piano Man? It would seem the latter is a replacement cache, hence The Piano Man should be archived. [?] We 're just trying to plan a little caching trip to Wanganui soon.
Has this been replaced by a new cache? Is it supposed to have been archived? It's a bit confusing how it keeps showing up on maps etc.
Another fun roadtrip with tmann421 collecting a few of the local caches.
Realised when logging 'who killed the Piano Man' that I had overlooked logging this one from a previous trip last year, so logging now.

This cache holder has been gradually deteriorated to the extent that it had radically changed shape!!
I will be substituting a new cache within the week.

I am away in South Island - so until I have a chance to repair, please ignore this cache.
Found cache but logbook and half of cache missing kids had a play, sadly piano has seen better days but still fun to tinker on. Tftc
Hi jono s, while I already have this cache, as I walked past it yesterday I thought I would take a look given its very public location and found it was as others have mentioned - just the top of the tube remains, no base or log.
Cheers

We found the top lid of the Cache hanging out, but the logbook was gone
great Place though, Thanks for showing it.

An interesting item that I had not seen before on my visits here. Thanks for bringing me here.
Found this cache during our NZ holiday in 2015.
Thanks at all owners for hiding and showing us the places.

thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today on our way from Wanganui to Bulls and Foxton. A 'fave' added for thisone!
TFTC and greetings from Belgium.

Passing through Whanganui and meeting a friend from over 50 years ago for lunch in the historic Rutland Arms Inn, so picked up a couple of caches before and after.
Got my hand scratched and may have left some small drops of blood behind! Great that the piano has survived, as it is really neat. Thanks.

Found it while our holiday stay in Wanganui but there was no log in the box. Unfortunately we had no fitting log with us, so we hope the CO will accept the photo log. Best regards from Dresden, Germany!
Drove past the piano then spied it out of the corner of our eyes! Went back. Had a bit of a play, still took a bit of a look before spotting the cache, very clever hide. Thank you! yes, there are a few bits that have fallen off!
Wow! Interesting find! Hard to find the cache. Log book/paper isn't inside anything.
#414. An interesting object on the roadside. Mrs GSEL soon found what we were looking for. No paper in container so we left a thin sliver of notepad for others to use. Signed and away. TFTC
Quckly grabbed log and decamped while Mr Selesi had a wee play on a quiet lunch time. His only concern is the notes he wanted didn't work, with log safely returned we left the street in peace TFTC
what a strange object to find on the street, didn't take too long to find the cache
After beautiful days on the Wanganui River we went yesterday evening to the city of the same name. As today's destination was not so far away, we took advantage of the nice weather and explored the city a little bit. Along some cache we let ourselves drift a little through the parks and streets and passed this interesting cache. Of course we tried to play the piano, but probably nobody wanted to hear our crooked sounds, because we were alone and could search undisturbed. Thanks a lot for the cache.
On the annual, crazy new-years-eve-trip, this time backpacking in NZ with Smellfooth, Silli1310, Anne82 and Tina. A terrific idea to show this with a cache. Fortunately, just in the moment we found the box a man who seemed to be a piano player came by and played spontaneous an awesome song for us - very cool . TFTC and Greetings from Germany, Dresden, Sushisun
Neat idea! Whilst Melon played what could loosely be described as a "tune" I signed the log. A fine crochet hook proved useful to extract the log from the container. TFTC.
TFTC. So we found the second piano cache. It's such a nice idea. Maybe you can find some piano donor.

Find 01 of 01 for the day and #1766 in total.
Nice hide if for nothing else but it's surprise value.

#6138. We had dinner in W(h)anganui today, and stopped on Drews Avenue afterwards to have a closer look at this interesting cache location. We think this should qualify as a large cache instead . Mr h found the logbook quickly, while Mrs h played a few notes to distract the muggles, of whom there were none around at this time. Took note of the large “cache” notice and closed the cover to preserve the condition of the piano. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for enabling this one again Jono. Have looked at it often on the way to the market so when I saw it was up and running again, an early morning cache run solved this with a smiley. TFTH.
What a great location, we had fun to play the piano but we are sad that there is no cache....
Checked today. It appears that someone has walked off with the cache log!
Will replace in the next day or two!

An unusual location - quite a novelty. However, we couldn't locate the cache despite three of us looking in all the likely places.
What a great site for a cache! Unfortunately we couldn't find this one in spite of a fairly thorough search, too bad.
A few of us from the Manawatu Geocaching Faction headed over to Wanganui for the afternoon to pick up some geocaches. Twas a wonderful afternoon with the sun shining and plenty of FP's given away.
Second attempt at this one and I am glad we found it. Don't know how we missed it first time round. Log is full but managed to put our name somewhere on the log. Thanks for the cache and the smiley. Found with Capperz and Hunterhillson.

Found while out on a Wednesday afternoon geocaching mission to Wanganui with Capperz and Spudnz. Cache number nineteen for today. Have previously tried this one before but had no luck. Quick find today.. No sure how it was missed the first time as I'm sure we looked there! Anyways finally got it now so all is well. T f t c!!!
I really enjoy spending time in New Zealand, I just love it here. Its nature, people and adventures I am passing through. Awesome place, thank you very much for introducing to myself and for the cache itself Sorry for late logging, I have some problems with internet access during travelling.
We got sidetracked by there being two musical instruments in close proximity to each other. The readings told us which one and then it was a easy enough find. #2 child played some chopsticks as we signed the log. From memory the log was full so we signed in an odd gap to fit on. TFTC Will award fav point when I remember how to.
TFTC The kids rocked out the tunes on the piano. Tony Carole Ben Abbey Lola Elliot Dave & Jacqui
Can't help feeling this ought to have been easy to find, but I couldn't spot it in all of what I thought were the likely places.
Third attempt at this one. The first two times had way to many muggles around to even attempt to look.
Went after work hours today, so fairly quiet then.
Good place for a cache. TFTC

Headed south with C&D, for a full weekend of caching, with the first cache being found at 6.00pm Friday night and finishing with an Event in Hamilton at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon. Both of us had certain caches we were targeting for the Geo Licence series, as well as finding anything else we driving past, or near. All up we found 165 caches, travelled just over 1700kms and had around 5 hours sleep.
All in all it was an EPIC adventure, exploring in and around the Whanganui to Dannevirke area. We found some great caches along the way and saw some great sights. Thanks to everyone for placing all the caches.
Great place for a cache. Didn't expect to see this at GZ.

A bit of a caching trip in the company of HKCB both of us endeavoring to know off a chunk of the requirements for the Geocaching License Series (different stages, different requirements for each of us), so what better excuse for a road trip.
Between 6.30pm Friday and 1,30pm Sunday I collected approx 140 caches (HKCB=155) and many of these needing to be a great distance from home, so little sleep, so much caching
Some figures for the trip were
1/. approx 1700 kms
2/. Caches mentioned above.
3/. some very memorable caches in Wanganui
4/. lots of laughter and lies
5/. 4 hours sleep
Wasn't sure what to expect here, but being set up for Billy Joel was not it
thanks for the placement

Was looking at an organ first then found the proper thing, was just retrieving the cache when muggles came around the corner, she stopped to ask if it worked so I said yes we are just tuning it. Very well done many thanks
no-one around today which made this one easier than it might have been. kids had a play on the piano, surprisingly well tuned!! TFTC
Yep, a good fun cache - and no-one around for our cache hunt, or to hear the geo-kids plunking away on the piano. Good fun! Thanks for bringing us here.

Had a quick look on the way to local cafe to join other Flash Mobbers, but too many muggles around. Returned an hour later and managed a quick hunt and grabbed fourth cache of the day with Juty Bug. Reminds me of a YouTube clip I saw the other day featuring a Kiwi knocking out "Bohemian Rhapsody" on a similar street piano, but this one only plays 'accidentals'. TFTC

An event in Whanganui, a mild winter's day, and a chance to grab a souvenir, what more could any cacher want?
This was another cache that had eluded me and my four fellow cache hunters a few weeks ago but today with the eyesight of nightowl19 and some deft reaching and grabbing the cache was found and duly annotated
TFTC and what an interesting hidey hole for a piano

Wow! Cool Piano….. Sing us a song, you're the piano man, sing us a song cos we found your cache tonight, many thanks.
An afternoon caching trip up to Whanganui City was the mission, with my desire to go past the landmark 2000th cache. The weather held until late afternoon when the heavens opened and rain stopped play.
Sadly no joy here today despite the best efforts of me, spudnz, hunterhillson and tommygun9.
Lovely idea for a cache and surprised to find an electric organ round the corner too.
Hope it's still there......

A delightful cache, which was quickly located, after which Mrs W.E.K.A. played a few chords. A favourite from us. TFTC
