An interesting cache page theme.I wonder what the 'night vision goggle capability' involves? Does this mean certain lights, or the glass screen changes, or that occupants can wear night goggles and see through the screen? The mind boggles about goggles!Unfortunately the log was too wet to sign, the paper is disintegrating. I dried it out as best I could in a tissue. Decide to head north today to get away from the miserable Wellington weather. Most of the day was reasonably warm, but occasional rain and strong winds. On the whole the containers were great (2 or 3 inside each other) with dry logs, but the locations were mostly "throw me down" locations with very poor parking (if any) and lots of lunatics in this area driving down side roads at 100km/h+ speeds. The log is disintegrating. Thanks for the cache.
My employer required me to attend a course on this side of the strait. So, even before I had planned flights or accommodation, I sussed out a heap of caches that I would pass near, or could get out to, after hours, in darkness.
Out this way, was this area where one of my counterparts worked and I could justify a 3 hour out and back detour the day before the course.
Another easy find, of an aircraft I have both flown in and been winched in and out of as part of training in a previous life. Oh how I miss the sound of one of these beasts approaching and flying low overhead, chopping the air until it shouts.

We noticed there were a couple power trails around Sanson, we decided to go for a bit of a trip to clean some up.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found, TFTCSL. Thanks tommygun9 for this Traditional Thanks for helping us get one step closer to our next milestone.

Kids were keen to go on a Sunday evening geo adventure so we set out to tick off some caches in the local area.
This was our final find for the evening in fading light. Grass is so thick in the area it is hard not to leave a geotrail! All was well, wrapping up a successful evening. TFTC

A find seven years in the making! My first attempt was seven years ago and I found most in the series except this one and the Vampire. Today I didn't bomb it and avenged my DNF. TFTC.

Much better luck after the last cache we attempted. A quick and easy find at GZ.

On outing with 6yr old, but his patience ran out before we found it. Will try again at some other time. Thanks for the placement.
Over my lifetime I have been fortunate enough to ride in a number of different types of helicopters and the Iroquois workhorse is easily my favourite. This meant it was extra satisfying to make the find here. Since I come from Skindo country I knew exactly where to look for this one as the local calves watched from the neighbouring paddock. The log is in good condition, but only has three spaces left before it will need replacing. TFTC tommygun9

Quick dash around the Ohakea loop grabbing as many caches as possible before the long drive home. Almost finished for the day. Tftc
Traveling up to Wanganui today and left myself enough time to do some caches in this area. No trouble here, TFTC
Travelling to Whanganui today and had time to stop for a few caches. Quick Skindo find as is often the case. Thanks
Found today with a friend. At Harrisville speedway for the weekend. Nice hide. Thank you for the cache.
One of 30 caches located today in the Sanson/Ohakea/Bulls vicinity. Worth the special drive up from Wellington! I needed more than 25 to ensure this month’s total breaks my previous monthly record. Almost all quick finds, as was this one. #3135. TFTC.
Nice easy find. Decided to take a little detour and find some caches and get away of the holiday traffic coming into Bulls. TFTC
It great to have such a good run of caches in good clean condition...this morning was sad as nearly all DnF s...these series restores my faith in geocaching lolthanks TG9
There is a lot of very long grass but luckily last finder has cleared a pathway in. Thanks for the cache tommygun9
I'd had a pretty slack Geocaching month so far, and was in danger of not getting my normal personal monthly goal of at least 50 finds per month, so I decided to take advantage of the balmy evening weather to go back to a couple of areas I haven't spent enough time caching around before - Bulls and Feilding.
I had last been caching up this way back in May, and had managed to find quite a lot of this series of themed caches, but this particular cache was one that was down a road I didn't travel down on that day so I was keen to put that right today.
This was a relatively easy find at GZ thanks to the Hint. With no issues to speak of, the log was quickly signed and then everything was replaced exactly as found and then I was off to find the next one in the series.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Passing here a year later and Mcjandals reminded us that we had got these Apologies for not logging them sooner This seems to be our area for Labour weekends So much fun with Team BOP So many road trails down here Thanks for putting them outTFTC
Driving past here today and noticed I haven't logged these caches. I found them last year on way home from Mega with McJandals and a few others from Teambop. Tftc
We are wandering around in the camper geocaching. Now this one everyone has heard of. Lots of water lying around and a cold wind. Doesn't feel like spring.
Thanks tommygun9.
Thanks tommygun9.
After spending the day with Trayc.g, GigiEV and Go_Zz hunting for the stickman series, we got a few more on the way home in the Sanson area. TFTC
Found with Trayc.g, GigiEV and Juliusfamily. This was one of 10 caches found in Sanson after spending the day finding caches in the Stickman series. Over 60 caches found today. TFTC
After a huge day caching with GigiEV, Go_Zz and Julius Family from Taranaki we are grabbing our last few of the day. A quick find and we were on our way again. TFTC
The rain stopped and a plane did a few flybys as we (Genie 23) got out for a quick cache stop on the way to Wellington.
Nice to have these a bit more spaced so can get our speed up on the bike. Tftc.
We had finished our days plan early so thought this little power trail would fill in the afternoon nicely. Think we did it the wrong way around as most of the caches were on the other side of the road but as it was so quiet it proved to be no problem. TFTC
Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #21/100 for the day and #90/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, a few Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016.
A nice quick find here. We left our new signature item here, a Rainbow Beadtail.
Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.

On a caching day out with Talla64 in very pleasant weather. We enjoyed the aircraft power trail, lovely countryside; in fact an area we have not been before. Thanks for all the caches.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. Apologies for the cut and paste logs... I really enjoyed driving around this trail finding all the aircraft related caches. Interesting descriptions too, now that I've had time to read them. TFTC, Biggles.
Last of the caches around the airport.. didn't get all of them last time I was here.

Decided on doing a few of these drive by caches whilst on my journey. Most were easy finds with the caches in good condition. TFTC.
This cache was missing last time I was down this way so it's good to be able to cross it off. Now I'm off for a couple of cream horns before continuing my caching journey. Yummy. Well worth the deviation off my planned route just to go and get them.
Its running around the back roads of Palmy for drivebys to get The Seagnoid his 10,000th cache.
The Iroquois has been snagged and tagged along our journey. Cheers
Day 12 - Tuesday - Desert Road to Palmerston North.
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Tauranga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

My favourite chopper. Perhaps because I have been up in them a number of times, during my time in Search and Rescue.

Day 12 of our Mega trip: Desert Road to Palmerston North, doing this series to get the last few to tip me over 10,000 cache finds. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.

It’s Day 5 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade (the last day) and Team BOP were well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We had a huge hit list for this affair so it was a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ for expedience (depending on log space, size or condition). A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
This trail of caches I'd almost forgotten to log as I'd twisted both my ankles in Wellington and I was high on pain killers. Well they're logged now - cheers tommygun9, TFTC

Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Bulls and the sunrounding areas many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
Out behind Ohakea airbase, today getting a single cache for one of my many missing dots on my calendar matrix I can only grab one somewhat nearby cache at a time as I need to ration them in order to fill in the calendar matrix on a work day Of course if I decide to go further afield I will collect as many cache as I can
Thanks for the cache

My bag, jacket, and food have been stolen the day before from the car, but thanks to Popmac I had batteries and some cache to keep myself busy until the flight in the evening. So that's what I did! I decided to find as many as possible with the petrol I had and driving without the driver side window. It did rain and hail some in the morning, but then it cleared up and it was all good except the wind! Thanks for all the caches along the way that helped me keep my sanity TFTC!!
Knowing full well that there's not a hope in hades that I'll get all the way to the 100-cache end goal of the current souvenir promotion, I'm trying to get a few more finds to get at least half way (to earn the second-to-last souvenir).
As of this morning, I need 11 more to get half way, and this circuit around Ohakea had 19. Sounds like a great morning out with the kids to me
... Except this one would take it down to 18 (which is still more than I need) and leave an unfound in my sea of smilies.
I contacted the CO's SO (should that be 'the CO's CO'? ) and asked if they would like me to replace it. The enthusiastic responce suggested that this would be OK to do.
Upon arriving at GZ, it was obvious where the cache should have been, and a quick search confirmed the previous logs.
The cache has been replaced (including waterproof paper for the logbook), and is ready to be found again.
Thanks for the smilie

Did not find this one, checked the other logs and saw that others were also DNF's.
In the Manawatu for the long weekend as Sunday will be spent heading up Rangiwahia Hut to get Ruahine for the Old School North Island Challenge. Saturday was spent exploring and collecting caches along the way. Did the circuit of Ohakea Air Base as other half spent time here when in the air force. TFTC
#3808. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. So headed north to the tropics. And so onto the Sanson power trails. Interesting to read the cache pages for this series as I have been in several types of military helicopters over the years as part of my work with DOC. So interested to see what aircraft have been used in the services. There were a few aircraft buzzing about today. I was very impressed by the skills shown by the pilots. Balancing an aircraft in that way must be very tricky (see attached photo). Nice quick find in a Wairarapa special. Log signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks for hiding it here.
This cache was attempted as part of the Palmerston North Power Leg of our "Road to 6,000" Extravaganza for 2016.
A quick find.

Apologies for the generic log — Team B&D are up from Wellington to do the 142 caches in 24 hours challenge. TFTC and a great set of power trails up here!

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.
After a while we started playing "musical cars"- and would race each other back to the cars in order to vie for prime position.... or just to pip someone else at the post..... it was rather hilarious, mainly because of the creative ways of piling into cars or sneaking in just before someone else when you knew they were aiming for that seat. One or two people may have accidently (or not so accidentally) have got sat on!!!!!
We really enjoyed this trail, one of the few trails that we did.... and as one or two in our group were big plane/ helicopter nuts, this series went down well with our group. I wished I had Mr NewlynFam with us, as he was another enthusiast!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

A group of cachers from Auckland spent the weekend in the Manawatu. We went by the name of SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) had heaps of fun running around the district squashed into two cars. Thank you for the wonderful caches. Sorry for the generic log, we had a huge day and collected 206 caches in 14 hours! TFTC!
We were down from Auckland for the weekend to tackle a number of the power trails in the area - the goal for the weekend was to increase our numbers and we achieved 140 caches today. A nice quick find here. Logged as team SEAC to save room on the logs - today we were with darthcacher1, purply, newlynfam, stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ.
Mr HeMaLuDy spent a number of years working at Ohakea so travelling down these roads with this series brought back memories for him.
