Logs
Decide to head north today to get away from the miserable Wellington weather. Most of the day was reasonably warm, but occasional rain and strong winds. On the whole the containers were great (2 or 3 inside each other) with dry logs, but the locations were mostly "throw me down" locations with very poor parking (if any) and lots of lunatics in this area driving down side roads at 100km/h+ speeds. Found this one out of it's location nearly in a cow pat. Moved it ever so slightly to make sure it stays in place and not so prone to the wind.
Up this way again for work so took a late night, 6 hour/26km stroll.
I could see where it was going to be but took my time checking the wires weren't live before climbing over them, and then it was easy.

We noticed there were a couple power trails around Sanson, we decided to go for a bit of a trip to clean some up.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found, TFTCSL. Thanks tommygun9 for this Traditional Thanks for helping us get one step closer to our next milestone.

Quick easy find. Had to climb through an electric temporary fence to log this one lol but that wasn’t gona stop me.
**14,480**
After a bit of a crawl around near the electric fence, which we weren't sure whether it was powered up or not so chose not to take the chance, so stayed low. Cache located easily as per hint. TFTC

A nice and easy find by Mini Arcane with no added assistance from us.
TFTC tommygun9!
TFTC tommygun9!
I arrived at this cache to find a very tall electric fence between the road and the GZ. Since I didn't need the smiley desperate enough to do myself an injury I have left this one for another day.
Racing around the Ohakea loop, trying to grab as many caches as possible before the long drive home. Tftc
Traveling up to Wanganui today and left myself enough time to do some caches in this area. No trouble here, TFTC
On our way back to Whanganui after collecting most of the Shield caches. Still had a bit of time and energy to collect some traditional caches. Quick stop here. Thanks.
Found today with a friend. At Harrisville speedway for the weekend. Nice hide. Thank you for the cache.
One of 30 caches located today in the Sanson/Ohakea/Bulls vicinity. Worth the special drive up from Wellington! I needed more than 25 to ensure this month’s total breaks my previous monthly record. Almost all quick finds, as was this one. #3133. TFTC.
Found ..all good here thanks TG9 enjoyed this series on different aircraftwell done
I'd had a pretty slack Geocaching month so far, and was in danger of not getting my normal personal monthly goal of at least 50 finds per month, so I decided to take advantage of the balmy evening weather to go back to a couple of areas I haven't spent enough time caching around before - Bulls and Feilding.
I had last been caching up this way back in May, and had managed to find quite a lot of this series of themed caches, but this particular cache was one that was down a road I didn't travel down on that day so I was keen to put that right today.
This was a relatively easy find at GZ, although with Muggles bailing Hay not very far away I had to try to be extra stealthy. There was no problem with the container, but I had to improvise to find a spot to sign the log as it is completely full and needs replacing. But once signed, everything was replaced exactly as found and then I was off to find the next one in the series.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Passing here a year later and Mcjandals reminded us that we had got these Apologies for not logging them sooner This seems to be our area for Labour weekends So much fun with Team BOP So many road trails down here Thanks for putting them outTFTC
Driving past here today and noticed I haven't logged these caches. I found them last year on way home from Mega with McJandals and a few others from Teambop. Tftc
We are wandering around in the camper geocaching. Mr S went for this one. The flying boys in their million dollar toys were practicing take off and landing. Planes that is not helicopters, although there was one of those flying around as well. The log is almost full.
Thanks tommygun9.
Thanks tommygun9.
After spending the day with Trayc.g, GigiEV and Go_Zz hunting for the stickman series, we got a few more on the way home in the Sanson area. Went to the wrong spot initially, but found cache at 2nd guess. TFTC
Found with Trayc.g, GigiEV and Juliusfamily. This was one of 10 caches found in Sanson after spending the day finding caches in the Stickman series. Over 60 caches found today. By this time GigiEV and I were ready for dinner but Trayc.g and Juliusfamily wanted a few more. TFTC
Quick find even if the ground was muddy as.
Very cool to hear and see helicopters around The airbase while find these caches.
Does need some maintenance

The rain held off and we (Genie23 ) managed to score another find on our trip to Wellington.
Quick find here again on our turn back to wjere we started. Bit of a caching gap here as jess had previously done this last leg before. Tftc.
We had finished our days plan early so thought this little power trail would fill in the afternoon nicely. Think we did it the wrong way around as most of the caches were on the other side of the road but as it was so quiet it proved to be no problem. TFTC
Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #66/100 for the day and #135/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. A quick find at the right hint item. This is also where I got abit of dirt in my eye from a gust of wind [:0] Ouch. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.

On a caching day out with Talla64 in very pleasant weather. We enjoyed the aircraft power trail, lovely countryside; in fact an area we have not been before. Thanks for all the caches.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. Apologies for the cut and paste logs... I really enjoyed driving around this trail finding all the aircraft related caches. Interesting descriptions too, now that I've had time to read them. TFTC, Biggles.
Last of the caches around the airport.. didn't get all of them last time I was here.
Out and about with popmac

Decided on doing a few of these drive by caches whilst on my journey. Most were easy finds with the caches in good condition. TFTC.
Its running around the back roads of Palmy for drivebys to get The Seagnoid his 10,000th cache.
Found the Warrior Helecoptor resting in its hanger. Snagged and tagged. Cheers
Day 12 - Tuesday - Desert Road to Palmerston North.
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Tauranga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

Warrior? Don't know Warrior. Don't know anyone that calles them that. They are all NH90s. And ues, more capable, way more versitile, but I still have a soft spot for the Huey.

Day 12 of our Mega trip: Desert Road to Palmerston North, doing this series to get the last few to tip me over 10,000 cache finds. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.

It’s Day 5 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade (the last day) and Team BOP were well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We had a huge hit list for this affair so it was a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ for expedience (depending on log space, size or condition). A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
This trail of caches I'd almost forgotten to log as I'd twisted both my ankles in Wellington and I was high on pain killers. Well they're logged now - cheers tommygun9, TFTC

Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
My bag, jacket, and food have been stolen the day before from the car, but thanks to Popmac I had batteries and some cache to keep myself busy until the flight in the evening. So that's what I did! I decided to find as many as possible with the petrol I had and driving without the driver side window. It did rain and hail some in the morning, but then it cleared up and it was all good except the wind! Thanks for all the caches along the way that helped me keep my sanity TFTC!!
Knowing full well that there's not a hope in hades that I'll get all the way to the 100-cache end goal of the current souvenir promotion, I'm trying to get a few more finds to get at least half way (to earn the second-to-last souvenir).
As of this morning, I need 11 more to get half way, and this circuit around Ohakea had 19. Sounds like a great morning out with the kids to me
Easy find in a simple location. Didn't even let the kids out of the car!
Was intrigued by the 10A circuit breaker in the cache as swag...

I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. All good here. TFTC
Such a gorgeous day to be out here earning Hidden Creatures. If you look closely in the picture you will see Mt Ruapehu in the distance covered in snow. I'm heading towards there tomorrow and hoping the Desert Rd is open so I can get through. Can't wait.
In the Manawatu for the long weekend as Sunday will be spent heading up Rangiwahia Hut to get Ruahine for the Old School North Island Challenge. Saturday was spent exploring and collecting caches along the way. Did the circuit of Ohakea Air Base as other half spent time here when in the air force. TFTC
Collecting the Friend League points for the current souvenir series and needed quite a few more to get from Neptune to Pluto. Decided to head out this afternoon and grab as many caches as possible around the Ohakea airbase circuit as well as any solved puzzle caches nearby.
No problems making a quick find here today in the warm afternoon sunshine. Didn't realise the NH-90s had a nickname, although it would have been unusual and breaking with tradition for them not to. Thanks tommygun9.

Ha ha, of course not. I knew it wouldn't be - - - but I still found the hint helpful. Interesting little series, before which my knowledge of RNZAF helicopters stretched only to Iroquois and that was it. Lots of carbon fibre! What'll they be using next? TFTC .
#3810. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. So headed north to the tropics. And so onto the Sanson power trails. There were a few aircraft buzzing about today. Took a few minutes to spot as wasn't quite where I expected it to be but just needed to look better. Log signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks for hiding it here.
Found on the way up to Taranaki. Took the "Tribute to Eleke" and "Austria Travel Monkey" to continue their journey.
Attempting to do at least one cache a day for 30 days in a row
Decide to come out here to Ohakea air base today and do some more of the cache that are here
Quick and easy find on this fine and sunny day

Apologies for the generic log — Team B&D are up from Wellington to do the 142 caches in 24 hours challenge. TFTC and a great set of power trails up here!
Found with barefootguru as part of the 142 in 24 hour cache challenge (GC5EAAX). Sorry for the generic log. TFTC
In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.
After a while we started playing "musical cars"- and would race each other back to the cars in order to vie for prime position.... or just to pip someone else at the post..... it was rather hilarious, mainly because of the creative ways of piling into cars or sneaking in just before someone else when you knew they were aiming for that seat. One or two people may have accidently (or not so accidentally) have got sat on!!!!!
We really enjoyed this trail, one of the few trails that we did.... and as one or two in our group were big plane/ helicopter nuts, this series went down well with our group. I wished I had Mr NewlynFam with us, as he was another enthusiast!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!
Log signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) in order to save log space.
TFTC!
2x TB drop- Austria Travel Monkey and Tribute to Elke

Quickly racing around the airfield hunting caches for a big total of around 200 finds for the day....
liking this series for the intel about the planes / helicopters that operated out of here...
Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space.

Our team from Auckland wanted to do a major day of caching, so headed down to Foxton area for a massive day. We got about 205.
Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.
Logs signed as either “Team SEAC” or “SEAC” – South East Auckland Crew.

A group of cachers from Auckland spent the weekend in the Manawatu. We went by the name of SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) had heaps of fun running around the district squashed into two cars. Thank you for the wonderful caches. MrNZT in particular is a bit of a plane boffin and was reminising about when he used to see skyhawks landing and taking off from this airfield. TFTC!
We were down from Auckland for the weekend to tackle a number of the power trails in the area - the goal for the weekend was to increase our numbers and we achieved 140 caches today. A nice quick find here. Logged as team SEAC to save room on the logs - today we were with darthcacher1, purply, newlynfam, stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ.
Mr HeMaLuDy spent a number of years working at Ohakea so travelling down these roads with this series brought back memories for him.

Wahoo just flew into Palmy to meet cache buddy Nosynel and heading toward the mega in Turangi collecting a few caches on the way would be rude not too Cheers for the hide.
Let the Mega adventure begin! After spending the night in Fielding I spent the morning in Manawatu. I picked up Bbear44 and now we're on our way with lots of stopping to Turangi. Yay. Dropped off tb.
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Wanganui to Bulls
We found a variety of caches in many different hides.
This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the Airforce base.
Thanks for placing this cache tommygun9

Decided to have a go at this trail after completing the nearby KAS trail. Enjoyed this trail with planes flying around on ANZAC day. TFTC
A trip down memory lane. Served at Ohakea for 5 years in the 70s. Easy find. TFTC.
