Heading North and taking a couple of planned detours. Have been eyeing up this plane series for a long time but never gotten around to it before. Today I took flight and knocked a few of them off.The sheep were making sure I wasn't up to any mischief. Thanks for the cache
Stopped for a look but there was a lot of farmer muggles doing silage in the paddock
Quick sprint in the long grass, am sure the multiple vehicles that went past thought I was having a Loo stop lolSLTFTC
I was in the area for work again so took a late night 6hr/26km stroll.
Easy find here and I DID replace the paper here.
Little known fact...I knew, and went on a USA road trip with the maintainer that experienced that ejection.

Cache was nice and easy but the log book was very soggy and wet so couldn’t get it out.
Thanks tommygun9 for the Traditional cache! I replaced the cache back to its original spot.

Need to get out to receive our milestone of 600 finds. I texted Oliver to see if he wanted to come and you already know what he said.
We ended up finding 10 caches with 100% find rate! And got to our goal of 600 finds!
The road to GZ was Very long and grassy. Cache had a mushy log and no rubber ring.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache back as found. TFTCSL, Thanks tommygun9 for this Traditional cache and keeping the game rolling. We are now one step closer to our next milestone of 600 finds.

After a short walk we had a look in a few places before GigiEV had the idea to check here again This one blended in quite well! No wonder we missed it. TFTC
A busy day exploring the area with kimbathelion today. Didn’t take long to find this one. Tftc
Competing in the World Blokart Champs at Sanson and Ohakea this week.
Have wanted to pick these up for years and I finally took the opportunity to grab this before heading home.

Full day of caching with with Infoferret and BFG. Signed all logs today as BIC. Quick easy find although the log is also damp. T4TC
Interesting story. Quick find of the odd one out, thanks tommygun9, initialled as
Found in a very familiar container there were some very new lambs nearby that were very cute!

On our way to a car club meeting and taking the oppertunity to find a few caches on the way. Nice quick find. TFTC.
Decided to go for a drive for my birthday, the day NZ goes to red under traffic lights framework. I haven't cached for a while, so what better way to explore without a mask and really practice social distancing, by finding caches in the country side. Thank you for the cache and information on Aermacchi.

Took a minute for the GPS to settle before cache was located. Thought the Airforce has been lighting matches here for a minute but No! TFTC

In Sanson Finding a few caches today. Thank you for the history lesson on planes and the placement of the caches
Back in the area and realised I hadn’t log these from on the way home from the mega 22.10.18
A nice trek through the long grass. The shade provided by the trees was amazing. It’s really hot out here today!
We brought a piece of paper as a replacement log after seeing the last cacher’s entry.
TFTC tommygun9!

Continuing along this 'Big Block' trail of pill bottles and mint tins.
Another full log, but this time I didn't have a spare in my pocket and it's a couple of hundred metres walk back and forth and back to the car to get another. Managed to sign my name in a gap after Oct 2019. TFTC

Traveling up to Wanganui today and left myself enough time to do some caches in this area. No trouble here, TFTC
On our way back to Whanganui after collecting most of the Shield caches. Still had a bit of time and energy to collect some traditional caches. Checked both corners twice before finding it! Sometimes you just miss it. Thanks.
One of 30 caches located today in the Sanson/Ohakea/Bulls vicinity. Worth the special drive up from Wellington! I needed more than 25 to ensure this month’s total breaks my previous monthly record. Almost all quick finds, although this one took a moment or two. It was a little bit out from the corner when I found it. Returned it to where I thought it should be. #3140. TFTC.
This seems a random place for a cache...I thought it may be private property...but nobody fired at me or no dogs chased me ..but all the cattle gather around to check me out thanks tommygun9
What a random spot. Macwatt manoeured the motor home to the other side of the road. Then it was a romp in long grass to the cache. Thanks for the cache Tommygun9
Driving past here today and noticed I haven't logged these caches. I found them last year on way home from Mega with McJandals and a few others from Teambop. Tftc
Heading down Tangimoana Road to boost my numbers for September. I wasn't sure about stopping to grab this one as I was mainly after really quick park and grabs, but from the previous cache I saw it really wasn't too far so parked up on the corner and headed on down. Took a couple of goes before I had the right location, and the cache was found. Signed and replaced. All good here. TFTC
We are wandering around in the camper, from Rotorua to Marton to Wellington and back, taking our time and geocaching on the way. Mrs S couldn’t find this one. Her eyes must be painted on because Mr S did. without too much trouble. A very cold wind was blowing here, straight off those snow covered ranges to the east.
Thanks tommygun9.
Thanks tommygun9.
Paradise ducks, friesan cows, white sheep and barking dogs.
A very classic rural NZ outlook.
Love my country.

I had been wanting to have a crack at doing all these tempting caches around the Ohakea Airforce Base for some time now, and thanks to the great weather and a free afternoon, today became that day.
I apologise for the generic posting but generally I found all the posted co-ordinates and associated Hints to be good, the containers themselves to be ok and the logsheets to be either fine or at the very least (if a bit damp) still signable.
I've found a few like this hide before so it was a nice quick find at GZ. Having said that, I then rushed my walk back to the car only to discover that I'd left my phone back at the cache so had to double back - doh!
Thanks for setting this series up.

Cycled past this and had to backtrack. Quick find after small deviation from road. Tftc.
We had finished our days plan early so thought this little power trail would fill in the afternoon nicely. Think we did it the wrong way around as most of the caches were on the other side of the road but as it was so quiet it proved to be no problem. TFTC
Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #59/100 for the day and #128/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. Mum parked at the corner and I walked down for a nice quick find. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.

On a caching day out with Talla64 in very pleasant weather. We enjoyed the aircraft power trail, lovely countryside; in fact an area we have not been before. Thanks for all the caches.
Today was part two of my road trip home to Nelson from Auckland, after picking up my son's "new" car from Napier, taking me from Taihape to Wellington... with time to find a few caches along the way, of course. Apologies for the cut and paste logs... I really enjoyed driving around this trail finding all the aircraft related caches. Interesting descriptions too, now that I've had time to read them. An end of an era indeed. TFTC, Biggles.

Last time I was here, I got a few of the plane-caches, but due to bad weather and bad legs, I only got some.. today was a perfect day for getting the rest.

Its running around the back roads of Palmy for drivebys to get The Seagnoid his 10,000th cache.
Found this Aermacchi parked up in its hanger. Snagged and tagged. Cheers
Day 12 - Tuesday - Desert Road to Palmerston North.
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Tauranga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

Ialways preferred the strikemasters to the aermacchis. No good reason why. Maybe just aesthetics.

Day 12 of our Mega trip: Desert Road to Palmerston North, doing this series to get the last few to tip me over 10,000 cache finds. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.

It’s Day 5 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade (the last day) and Team BOP were well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We had a huge hit list for this affair so it was a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ for expedience (depending on log space, size or condition). A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
This trail of caches I'd almost forgotten to log as I'd twisted both my ankles in Wellington and I was high on pain killers. Well they're logged now - cheers tommygun9, TFTC

Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Bulls and the sunrounding areas many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
My bag, jacket, and food have been stolen the day before from the car, but thanks to Popmac I had batteries and some cache to keep myself busy until the flight in the evening. So that's what I did! I decided to find as many as possible with the petrol I had and driving without the driver side window. It did rain and hail some in the morning, but then it cleared up and it was all good except the wind! Thanks for all the caches along the way that helped me keep my sanity TFTC!!
I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
Out behind Ohakea airbase, today getting a single cache for one of my many missing dots on my calendar matrix I can only grab one somewhat nearby cache at a time as I need to ration them in order to fill in the calendar matrix on a work day Of course if I decide to go further afield I will collect as many cache as I can
Parked up and took a short walk to ground zero and soon had the cache in hand signed the log
replace the back
Thanks for the cache

Knowing full well that there's not a hope in hades that I'll get all the way to the 100-cache end goal of the current souvenir promotion, I'm trying to get a few more finds to get at least half way (to earn the second-to-last souvenir).
As of this morning, I need 11 more to get half way, and this circuit around Ohakea had 19. Sounds like a great morning out with the kids to me
I'm over the 50 mark now, so any more are now bonuses!
We headed to an obvious location but the GPS pointed us elsewhere and so we searched by the daffodils instead. Not finding anything here, we headed back to the original obvious location and made a quick find

In the Manawatu for the long weekend as Sunday will be spent heading up Rangiwahia Hut to get Ruahine for the Old School North Island Challenge. Saturday was spent exploring and collecting caches along the way. Did the circuit of Ohakea Air Base as other half spent time her when in the air force. TFTC
#3818. I had the day off work so decided I needed another road trip to wrap up a very busy month (of geocaching). I am working on the DGSC challenge and foolishly decided to go for the bulk find elective which needs 1500+ cache finds in the year. But one month needed 300+ finds and I was close enough to that target in March so went for it today to get the remaining 61 caches I needed. And so onto the Sanson power trails. Nice to stretch the legs for a short walk to the cache. Quick find and sign here. All good and replaced as found. This is another aircraft I have seen in various display flights over the country. Thanks for the cache.
A short leg stretch, cache all good. 30 January 2017 17:45 GH6710 T F T C tommygun9
#1199. With today being a dot day and my toddler being taken care of I decided to drive out to Ohakea and collect more of this airplane series. Sorry for the bulk log but after 10 of them I'm struggling to remember specific details. I know I was very pleased to have suitable stopping areas nearby for most of these caches and all the logs were able to be written on although a couple were getting damp. I enjoyed my drive around the airfield but didn't see any action today.
Thanks to the CO's for bringing me out on another adventure. Everyone is different and interesting. The time and effort you put in to setting and maintaining caches is appreciated.

In the Manawatu for the weekend with some caching buddies- Uncle Sam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane, HeMaLuDy. The goal was to find as many of the caches in the area as we could in the space of a day, and we all had a blast jumping in and out of the cars, racing each other to the caches, and laughing and joking along the way, and in we general had an awesome weekend down here.
After a while we started playing "musical cars"- and would race each other back to the cars in order to vie for prime position.... or just to pip someone else at the post..... it was rather hilarious, mainly because of the creative ways of piling into cars or sneaking in just before someone else when you knew they were aiming for that seat. One or two people may have accidently (or not so accidentally) have got sat on!!!!!
We really enjoyed this trail, one of the few trails that we did.... and as one or two in our group were big plane/ helicopter nuts, this series went down well with our group. I wished I had Mr NewlynFam with us, as he was another enthusiast!
Apologies for the generic logs.... with over 200 caches found in one day, it was virtually impossible to remember each individual cache!

Very sorry for the generic logs, but when doing so many in one day very hard to make notes on each.
But a big thank you to all the cache owners for putting out all of the great caches we visited.

A group of cachers from Auckland spent the weekend in the Manawatu. We went by the name of SEAC (South East Auckland Crew) had heaps of fun running around the district squashed into two cars. Thank you for the wonderful caches. Sorry for the generic log, we had a huge day and collected 206 caches in 14 hours! TFTC!
We were down from Auckland for the weekend to tackle a number of the power trails in the area - the goal for the weekend was to increase our numbers and we achieved 140 caches today. A nice quick find here. Logged as team SEAC to save room on the logs - today we were with darthcacher1, purply, newlynfam, stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, UncleSamNZ.

I parked my car at the corner with Windows down and handbag visible. I was freaking out the whole time i walked to this that someone was going to take off with my car, I didn't think the cache was going to be as far away as it was. Tftc
Can't say I've ever heard of this one before but it looks like it means business if the photo on the cache page is anything to go by. Nice to have a short breather in the fresh air and stretch the legs. Cheers. TFTC #9489

Let the Mega adventure begin! After spending the night in Fielding I spent the morning in Manawatu. I picked up Bbear44 and now we're on our way with lots of stopping to Turangi. Yay.
Wahoo just flew into Palmy to meet cache buddy Nosynel and heading toward the mega in Turangi collecting a few caches on the way would be rude not too Cheers for the hide.
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Wanganui to Bulls
We found a variety of caches in many different hides.
This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the Airforce base.
Thanks for placing this cache tommygun9
