Out with weredunn4 in the Karoonda area continuing our effort to collect the Wandering Heroes caches plus others we come across.Slowly but surely we are inching our way along this very long power trail. All logs signed or stamped, and maintenance where possible and if required.TFTC
Tackling the Wandering Heroes series again, and surrounding caches, with Cheezel1961. All caches found and stamped. Really enjoying this series and a massive thanks too all those who created and maintain this unique trail.
We enjoyed a few days away from home, enjoying the scenery, the people we met and, of course, finding cachesThanks to all who made this and enjoyable week.
Day three of tackling this series. Nearly gave up yesterday as scrub very hard to negotiate and caches small and hard to locate. Today was so much better. Big black plastic tubs, ammo tins and buckets. Some are brittle but so much more fun if you can find them without tramping under, over thick matter. Thank you for the change. Hope it continues from now on. We enjoyed today. Found 70 and 6 dnf. Thank you everyone.
Out for a quick cache session in this area of the Wandering Hero trail. TFTC Ismartis.
On my way down to Murray Bridge getting more of the Wandering heroes trail that have appeared since I was here last. Staying in Karoonda tonight.
Was a difficult one to extract from the middle of the bush. I didn’t find an easy way in.
Thanks for the cache Ismartis.

Found during a circuit from home, through Murray Bridge to Karoonda and Sherlock and back along the backroads near Tailem Bend. Thanks for the cache Ismartis!
Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Out again for a few more caches on this great trail. It's another lovely morning for caching. TFTC Ismartis
Day 3 of our trip to SA with Wilbert67 . An early start to time day. Hoping the weather would stay at this temperature.

Such great weather to be out after the mystery of the museum gems which is letting me tick some more of this great wandering hero’s trail.
Good find with the grandkids. Great way to spend the first day of the school holidays. TFTC
Hi there Ismartis.
We found your cache **"WH Detour ... Gral4"** today. (This makes our find count 21722).
Today we headed out from Wellington to attempt the Wandering Heroes series caches we haven't yet done, as well as any others we came across on our travels.. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]
We found 49 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The containers and log books were mostly in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge in the majority of caches.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

The caching numbers continue to grow while out hunting with goingplaces2. The Wandering Heroes series was today's job, as well as some others and there were still plenty to find. Thank you to each CO for their contribution to the caching game. It's lots of fun.
This was another day with ilook4geo and chasing those Wandering Heroes. It was a very assorted as far as containers and logs go. Some were in excellent condition and some containers had almost totally disintegrated. Most were somewhere between these extremes.
Each found log had two more lots of initials added somewhere on its pages before we headed off again. Thank you to Ismartis for adding this cache to the series.

found with jacknor. Came up today to find my newly published wandering hero's cache and stop at the puzzles and if time do the multi's as well. At least the dust storm has finally stopped now and the thunder storm has yet to start. quick find.
sir_spectre wanted to come down and find his wandering hero's cache. He invited me along for the trip. We stopped at the puzzles and did 1 multi before the dust storm got worse and made driving down to 60 km's for a while before making it to his cache. Then the thunderstorm hit and it bucketed down with rain till we drove back to the lost hero's trail and we completed that with almost no rainfall. quick find.
A great day out with GoodLook collecting more of the wandering heroes that we didn’t collect 2 weeks ago. Overall we found majority of the caches in good quality and had to replaced 1 with the CO permission.
Signed all log books with the fabulous randoms stamp.

Second full day on the Wandering Heroes trail with woolwood9 today.
Enjoyed getting some more of them found.
Soon located this one, thanks for putting this cache out.

Quite a lot of caches are in a rough state - nice to see a good number of plastic ammo boxes been put out.

Today we explored Karoonda and surrounds using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way with Roostaman and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found whilst on the Fabulously Random caching trip [^] Feathertop and I have spent the last 10 days together from St Arnaud to the Yorke Peninsula, Balaklava and all the way to Murray Bridge and Karoonda.
Today it was sunny, windy, raining and we even got pelted with hail several time whilst we focussed on the GEOPETS series - LOVED IT!, the nearby fantastic OTD series, a number of Wandering Heroes and some random caches - I was exhausted by the time I rolled into bed, but what a fantastic day we had.
Please note: our combined team name today was "Fabulous Randoms" and that is how the 'millions' of log books have been stamped (bar a few with our actual caching names in them).
Thanks so much for the cache Ismartis!

What a difference a day makes!
Yesterday it was hot and windy, today cloudy skies rain and hail!
Goodlook and I made our way to do about 40 of the Wandering Heroes caches that have cropped up since my last visit up here about 3 years ago.
Some of the containers are showing their age others endure well.
Still mindful of widlife when I spotted an enourmous dead snake beside the road later on.
Thanks to all the cache owners who continue to populate this trail

Found with Beaker on a long weekend caching run... 337 caches in 2.5 days! Broke some personal records, had very little sleep, lots of caffeine, a few minor injuries and a heap of fun! Some great caches found, well done to everyone involved. Thanks
Found with FerociousFlea on our 2017 June Long Weekend Wandering Heroes Caching Run. Totals included 155 on Saturday, 176 on Sunday and 6 early Monday, making for 337 caches in a little over 48 hours.
Thanks to all of the cache owners and caching teams that have this series named after them. Thanks also to those who make the effort to maintain other's caches so that people like us can do these caching runs. Apologies for the generic logs...

I was in Adelaide for work and decided I needed to assist in the maintenance of the numerous caches along the trail. With the assistance and good company of brisal5 and Aussie Mary we wandered down the road. Of course there are still so many to find as well.

Cache all good.

A quick and easy drive by as we cache our way through this series. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Another weekend and Mrs Gizmo was once again dragging the male team members out caching.
Having recently completed OTD May and the Oz Mega & Signal geo art, she now has her sights set on the Wandering Heroes.
Today we drove to Karoonda with the aim of filling in some gaps in our Wandering Heroes map and also finding some other nearby caches.
Mrs Gizmo was determined to tackle this Wandering Heroes Detour before the day's end, despite the vampire's protests after being awake for more than 24 hours.
We always enjoy finding caches in this series. The hides are all so unique in representing the honoured team.

Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.
Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. Cache # 119 of 221 for this long weekend.
The Parrot was on a roll to try and get closer to the 10, 000 mark as this last 500 seems to be taking forever.
Unfortunately the knee didn't hold out and I had to retire from the field.
If you have stitches in your knee you really should cover them over before pushing though bushes.
I had a fantastic time cashing down some trails that have been in GSAK for far to log,
I worked on the Oz Mega, OTD, Geopets and Wandering heroes series over 2 days.

After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!
One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!
I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.
Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.
After this I cut through to Wandering Heroes and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heroes.
From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.
441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.
Thanks for all the wonderful caches around this area, and sorry for generic logs.

I had a full day planned to wander down the trail today and it was well needed, so many new cache placement since my last visit nearly three years ago. Some very creative placements found and a very enjoyable day's caching. Cheers to all our heroes, and those that have honoured them.

I haven't cached with Gral4. I did do this cache with CP. Clare and brisal5. Thanks Ismartis.
Time for a cache maintenance run along the wandering heroes trail in cahoots with Aussie M&M, CP Wanderer and Clare007. That also meant stopping for a few newer ones that had sprung up since I last cleared it out. [^]
Just passing and grabbed this one as well. Thanks Ismartis.

On a WH mission today to try to get to 100 caches for the day. Stupidly I forgot sunscreen so was getting scorched along the journey. Drank about 5 litres of water and found 103 caches. If I'd had a co-driver could have found alot more but alas not he was harvesting. Enjoyed listening to the cds I got for Christmas on the 5 hour return trip to get to/from Tailem Bend from Naracoorte. TFTC and apologies for the generic logs.
Happy Halloween TheCatBandits out cache trick or treating. Found cache no worries TFTC

Thanks to Crane2 for letting me know the cache was taking on water. I have now replaced it with a new one. It's a bit smaller than the old one, but it is watertight!!!
Ismartis, CPWanderer & I stopped in to complete some cache maintenance. I realised that having completed most of the WH series, K had yet to find this one. Thanks for the cache stop Ismartis
One of a few found today while out on a Wandering Heroes mission.
Great series, thanks CP, love reading about the teams honoured when doing the logging.

Cache had a fair bit of water in it from the recent downpour. Have drained the cache, log book is just a bit damp not soggy, so should be right. Because the decoration has come lose from the lid, this might be how the moisture is getting in? A fox zapped past me and I think his smelly den is nearby! #2175.
After visiting my brother in Murray Bridge I am now actually heading for Queensland for the Mega and picking up the rest of the Wandering Heroes series that I haven't yet done with a few others along the way.
Had a very good day with only a couple of no finds and a couple near Karoonda where muggles were everywhere for the farm day so stopped me even looking.
No problems with finding any of the caches that I did find.
Thanks Ismartis for the cache.

Project “Centroid” was on. After a bit of planning Fleabag and I decided to head towards Adelaide again for the long weekend to get 500 or so caches to move our centroid far enough away from home to complete a challenge cache in Melbourne. We managed to get 501 just for good measure.
At the same time we tried to get a few areas of Victoria done on the way there and back to start working on another challenge cache back in Melbourne.
Today was a wandering heroes day until we had to head into Murray Bridge to pickup some replacement caches from the CO to replace a number of the Oz Mega series that are missing which we will fix up tomorrow.
Thanks for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

Spiffy- and I were on a project to get 500 caches in 4 days that were over 100km from our home locations. I reallly enjoyed this series and the themed hides. Great idea and a nice tribute to all the cachers. With each cache we would recall if we had met them at events and what caches they owned. A long and tiring but very enjoyable day. Thanks for the cache.
Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.
Thank you to all cache placers,
Cheers and Happy Hunting

Came to repair my cache and took the opportunity (as you would) to "mop up" some more of the WH caches (popping up like mushrooms after rain) and ended up in Loxton. That took best part of the day ... and then the drive home via the hills. Beautiful day for caching and enjoying the country side and, of course, stopping at the bakeries. Wouldn't you know, I had to move my geo-vehicle out of the way of a B-double just then driving along this narrow dirt road! Thanks Ismartis.
Mr M-SEZ & geo boy are out caching with ma77hew from ma77hew & kay. We cleaned up most of the back end of the Wandering Heroes series and the loose ones in between, but then it started belting down with rain when we had only 4 to go! Sounds like an excuse to come back another day.
Thanks to all the cache owners who took the time to hide these caches, and congratulations to those who were lucky enough to have a cache dedicated to them. TFTC

Found with M-SEZ while attacking the Wandering Heroes series. While the girls were at home having a Tupperware party, the boys hit the road for a Sistema party.
Awesome cache. Another one to make me smile FP from me
Out for yet another weekend of hanging out and caching with Sylken. The plan for this weekend was to take another crack at the Wandering Heroes power trail (when we made our first attempt in January 2012 we foolishly thought we might tackle the whole thing in one day!! Lol! The series was only abut 160 at that time...) When the temp is 35C, that seems rather unrealistic... It was 35C the first time we attempted this series, and 35C again today... it seems that we're starting to make a habit of hot caching expeditions. But now the powertrail has upwards of 300 in it, I think anyone would be hard pressed to bag that many in one day!
We still didn't manage to complete the trail, so we'll just have to see if we can find another 35C day to get the rest...
Thanks you to all the cache owners for their recognition of fellow cachers, and their efforts in hiding and maintaining the series. An honourable mention to CPWanderer who started this whole lark off in the first place

We are currently staying in Murray Bridge for a few weeks attempting some of the many caches available in the area. Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here for a second run at the Wandering Heroes series....our first was in January 2012. The series has expanded somewhat since then so we had endless opportunities
We finished the day with 114 finds and not a single DNF. Some caches are particularly inventive and a great tribute to the teams they are honouring. It is so nice to do a big power trail and have various types of hides....I guess the benefit of having lots of different CO's
As usual with power trails we too are writing a generic log, just adding a few extra words to caches that needed extra comments. That however doesn't detract from the gratitude we feel for all the CO's that have hidden caches along this trail....thank you one and all.
Wow!! We were certain when tackling this series today that we would be replenishing our completely depleted stocks of favourite points but we've run out...again...so this one will go onto our list of 'caches awaiting a favourite point' and will receive one as soon as enough are earned. LOOOVE that gorgeous cache guardian....we have been lucky enough to see and hold one in the wild. Thanks for the hide Ismartis[^]

This day I'm on a Geo - adventure in the countryside with Dr. Owl, our mission: get all the happy smiles we could and discover the Wandering heroes !
We saw a classic:
"stonehenge style"
"home invasion cache" the ones in the middle of a tree hole of some possum home
"incredible camouflage" the ones with the natural wood on the top or some dry leaves
"Home sweet home" the ones who are now habitat by spiders,
Beetles, ants and some little creatures...
Well a totall adventure but the best of all I had a wonderfull day with Dr Owl !!

Found with the WAFF group - teams [blue] Waldron & Astro, four-fun and Freddo [/blue] on a weekend full of fun, dust, plastic, and clear blue skies. The boys used their combined geo-skills to locate and carefully replace this cache and some of the others nearby.
Thanks to Ismartis and clear skies from TeamAstro.
Out for the weekend with Freddo, Astro & Team Waldron
This was one of the many fun caches we found over the two days of glorious sunshine and many kilometers [^]

We headed down to South Australia for a few days of caching, and the Wandering Heroes series was next up on our list, with a few other caches in between We started off nicely and early today before hitting the trails, and after a slow start, we soon picked up the pace, and were on a roll Many of the them were quite unique, and as most had good hints and obvious hides, we managed to get them knocked off quickly We enjoyed these caches, as they were all pretty straight forward, and it never took long to find each cache We managed to finish off the day with only a few dnf's too

Coming back to the Wandering Heroes is now a permanent fixture on the itinerary for each of our visits to South Australia. The series is so dynamic with a significant number of caches being added between each of our visits. We have learnt so much about other cachers. Thanks CPwanderer for starting this series and for your ongoing oversight and support.
We’re sure most of us have had an enthusiastic cacher who has either started us off on our caching journeys or has encouraged us on our way. Gral4 seems to be such a person. Thank you Ismartis for introducing us to the team responsible for your addiction. We occasionally meet teams where one team member is very enthusiastic with other members of the team patiently supporting the activities of the addicted one. The support teamy usually sigh, roll their eyes and say “we can’t stop her” and so they may as well come for the ride. Mrs y’stassie thinks that they often come to avoid being left at home to do the house work but really, they enjoy the group caching experience in a less demonstrative manner. We do hope that our caching paths cross on one of our trips to South Australia.
Accurate coordinates led to a quick find of this well "cammoed" cache. We really enjoyed the cache gardians. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache Ismartis.

[center]7883. [green] Apologies to all the hiders, many of which have gone to great lengths/effort to theme their tribute caches as a true homage to the recipient of such a worthy tribute, for the generic log. I have avoided doing copy and paste logs as long as I could but when you end up doing over 800 in six days and covering (very) conservatively 1700kms. (Winglen can most likely update that).
Congratulations to all the recipients for being worthy of a tribute. (McPhan and Winglen are very open to accepting a cache in this trail..... )
A fun second run along this trail which was a lot less tiring that the first foray where we whipped up over 270 for the day. Today we managed a 201 cache day - hence the genericism.
Thanks for the cache [blue]Ismartis[/blue] and the Alf.[/green][/center]
