Canberra Mega time, day three.Collecting a few AdLabs and occasional caches down south of Canberra.Started on the Bicentennial trail and ended up on Mt Taylor.Spent a lot longer on the mount that I thought I would be, but found all the caches I looked for today.Continued to the top of course. Thanks, Robmc.
I really enjoyed this geocache! I had never been to Mount Taylor before; I set off after work and got there around 6.30 p.m. I had a lovely chat on the way up the hill with a younger woman who was walking down the hill, her pockets full of yellow flowers. She stopped to tell me about a dream that she'd had of being in a painting, with kangaroos around about. It was very sweet.Anyway, it was a lovely warm evening and Mount Taylor is gorgeous. I love the views across the valley to the mountains in the west - the view makes me happy. The little bit of rock-climbing to get to the geocache was a bit of fun. I sent a photo of the cache to friends interstate who were very impressed! From there, I figured that I may as well walk up to the summit, and I grabbed two more geocaches on the way. The sun was setting, and it was late in twilight by the time I got back to the car, and I felt alive and happy. Thanks, Tankengine. Love your work.
Visiting from Adelaide to see family for the festive season, and today its time to tackle more caches in the Mt Taylor area including the Adventure Lab, some puzzles solved in 2021 that I havent had a chance to get to and some challenging multis. Found this cache and signed the log. Many thanks for the placement and the ongoing maintenance!Love the poem and the puzzle, and good to find an old cache with an old logbook in a neat hiding spot. FP for this one!
We got rather excited finding this because we couldnt work the puzzle out, so instead we looked for possible cache locations on the walk up to the other cache at the top; meanwhile, I redid the checksum in my head and found our tentative coordinates added to the checksums and whats more the cache was only 7 metres away -after that it was a quick find although a long arm stretch. Thanks for the fun multi.
My increasingly dodgy knee seemed somewhat settled today, so I took the opportunity to take to Mt. Taylor and pick up a few caches.
My first reading of the cache description had me scratching the noodle a little, but is actually quite straight forward, and the walk to the final offers some lovely views!
Once at GZ, the cache was spotted without too much difficulty. Love the old logbook! I took a few minutes to sit and read the older entries - the approach to signing a logbook sure has changed over the years!

What a beauty! I was stumped with what to do with the numbers initially. But managed to work out a decent set of coords following my last visit. It required following the instructions, basically! But I'm not very good at that. Climbed back up Mt Taylor today to make the find. I wonder how long Michael Jackson has been in the cache? Thanks for the fun TE.
#2247 Chipping away at Mt Taylor this was to be my multi for today. Waypoint 1 had me a little befuddled until I found some numbers that with the help of the poem converted into acceptable coordinates. A nice surprise find at GZ before continuing on up and over. Thanks Tankengine for the cache.
Found on a caching trip to Canberra to try and get a few finds for my Ausmer/Jasmer grid. I'll probably never complete it but this put me one step closer.
I was hoping that once at WP1 the whole number thing would make sense. I saw one number but couldn't see how that would work. Kept looking and found another one that looked more promising. Did the maths and my answer matched the check sum.
Saw a big kangaroo on the way to GZ and had a family warn me about snakes on the track which I kept in mind as I poked about at GZ. Checked a few places but the size of the cache narrowed it down a bit and it wasn't too long before I had CIH.
Great to find this big old cache!
I had planned to continue on to the top but with rain starting and thunder rumbling I decided not to.
Awarding a favourite point.

Some numbers doodled in my pad,
I hoped my maths would not prove bad,
Many nooks and crannies I did scan,
Till the cache was in my hand.

Out for a little caching on my four hour window for adventure! Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between were a few traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to Tankengine for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Torment is right. However I set off in good spirits, gathered the required information and headed to GZ. Thanks to excellent coordinates and satellite imaging it was an easier find than I expected. However I must be getting weaker in lifting rocks but not too weak yet. TFTC TE TNLN SL
I decided to spend a day outdoors, climbing hills and mountains in Canberra. Ideal weather and quality locations provided beautiful views. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their hides.
This was the highlight of the day. Trails were defined. Incline was steady. Views were amazing. Cache size was great. Thanks Tankengine!

Tankengine needed to walk the dog and had an AL waypoint up Mt Taylor to get (as did I). I also needed a daily cache and I have had a few up and around this area still available to be found for quite sometime now.
This cache: Admittedly this is one that while with the CO was able to work out. I had looked at it in my early caching career and had absolutely no idea what he was talking about! Now though knowing the man and his ways and having a little more experience in the game it made more sense.
GZ was an awesome spot. Such great views which I shouldn’t be surprised about that Tankengine can find these spots and a nice big cache to find as well. Tftc Tankengine!!!

Originally I had planned to do Workout101, however my GPS battery was quite low. This one looked good, and I was not disappointed! Quick stop at WP1, and off to the final.
Cache was all in good order at GZ, thanks for the fun!

This is (almost) in our backyard, so seemed like a perfect setting for this evening's walk of The Dog. Eldest GeoKid was on hand to calculate a plausible-looking GZ from the data, then a very pretty walk up in sunset for an easy find at GZ by the Eldest GeoKid in the obvious spot. We decided to continue all the way up to the top for our evening constitutional, then back down to home. Lots of post-work people doing their exercise... it's one of our favourite walks (despite the crowds).
Always nice to find such an old cache, and a large one at that - such a change from the profusion of mini bisons and nanos in the city. We really enjoyed this one, Tankengine (even the poetry) - thank you!

Was confident with the numbers, GZ looking good on the map. A nice hike up, quite a few muggles also making their way along the track. A few good places to take in the panoramic views, including across from the cache. An oldie which fills another required month. TNLNSL TFTC Favourite added for the views.
Early start today to be able to tick off a few goals by the end of the day. Finally qualifying for a few challenge caches and keeping up the numbers in preparation for the SA trip coming up in two weeks. Weather is only just holding, but prepared for all weather. After my parkrun this morning I could do with a bit more workout, no matter the rain!

Change of plans today, climbing Mt Taylor with Wilbert. Yes it’s raining, but all covered up .
Spending the day here and picking up caches along the way.
By now we’re soaked . This will be the last one for the day.
Off to have a hot shower.

Tried and failed nearly 5 years ago. Tried more than once but always beaten at the first WP. Re thinking this recently I came up with a slightly different solution for the number which still met the cache description. Yesterday whilst doing a fauna survey for the ACT Govt. I took a photo of the possible number.
At home I looked at the calculations and came up with a solution which met one of the checksums, the longtitude was only a single name off. A quick recheck of the sums and the checksum was all good. Pity, I actually walked over gz yesterday.
To-day more fauna surveying on Mt Taylor. Afterwards walked to gz and yes a quick find. Finally nailed it. TFTC.

Today was the day to tackle Mt Taylor. I had done a few on the other side but now for the main lot. And what better way than to start with a multi. In the company of MinnieK, GLISS, Fitzy_1965 (who already has most of them), Aykayam and Tankengine (who joined for the walk and to check on his caches) we set out up the hill. We back and forwarded with some GCA caches on the way up but time to get serious. What a great spot. Love the big rock formations that you find. You would not find them without someone putting a cache there because they are often hidden behind trees. The sun was shining, there was a lovely breeze and great company. Cache was not too difficult to find just needed the right level and soon found, signed and returned. Onto the next one. Thanks for getting us out and about TE.

First cache for the day on a trek up and over and back up and around and up again on Mt Taylor. At this point of the day I still had much enthusiasm so it was a slight jog most of the way to GZ. Nice to find such a big, old cache!

A lovely 2km round trip in the beautiful sunshine picking up this cache along the way. Loved the large rock formations having walked straight up from the main road and came back via the walking path. Prior to this we had visited the entrance for Panic's Patch but found it all too scary to undertake today. However we did enjoy finding Formidable Fivehundred.

I was heading up Mt Taylor for another cache but with this on the way it made sense to stop and see about doing it as well, except that once I went to sort it out it made no sense to me at all!!! Well, I am sure I found the number ok, but I have no lost pride to admit that the rest just confused me. Decided to read through a few logs and see if anything helped, there was a lot of information but no further forward with it I noted the number and decided that i would look at it at home later.
I had a target cache and made my way directly up the side, shorter but boy, oh boy, it was a bit tough! It was right near the end of where I had gone up that I found myself in a location that looked familiar, made a note to head back this way after I had finished with the other cache up this way.
The other cache completed some time later and headed back across, I was a bit undecided about heading off on a wild goose chase based on a few hunches and logs but I still had spare time and the path was quite easy to follow compared to my ascent earlier and quite enjoyed walking along. Using some of the previous GZ's I had found in my phone once I got into a spot I knew was possibly 'empty' of caches I payed a bit more notice until I found a location that matched the log I had seen. Looked it back up and Bingo! a perfect match!!!
Soon was in the area but a reptile tail heading into a hole in the rocks had me a bit cautious, couldn't see anything and possibly was just a little lizard that was intend on staying close by. Set about searching around, read a few more logs and found one that indicated a hide style so moved out a bit more and then spotted a pile of discarded rocks tossed from the structure, had a chuckle as one of the logs mentioned to many rocks so heading in that direction and there you have it, a hide location and soon a cache!!!
Very amused to have been able to find the cache without doing the math or having coordinates but then with a cache as old as this one there is always going to be enough hints to go by. Loved the old log book and reading through the logs and a great cache location. Thanks for the cache Tankengine, a favourite for the age, location and the fun of actually finding it today!

Possibly the oldest cache I've found. Nice to see the years of history in the log. TFTC.
Seeing there are still some blank pages, I will remove the needs maintenance for now. But I will replace next time I head up that way.
I attempted to gather the numbers for this cache at the start of my walk today, however my coordinates didn't quite line up and I wasn't sure if I was looking at the correct ones! I soon got help from a previous finder when I was contacting them regarding another cache. Now that I am back home I realise that I actually DID have the correct numbers all along! But I had actually got them slightly mixed up, and had 2 possible coordinates. Turns out my 1st possible coordinate had the correct latitude, and my second possible coordinate had the correct longitude...... ooooops! All I had to do was combine them and get rid of the incorrect parts!
Oh well glad to get it all sorted in the end and realised I was on the wrong level.... and that I had almost walked past the cache earlier. So back up I climbed, couldn't pass the opportunity for a 2002 Tankengine cache, and boy was I impressed when I found it!
Whoever last found it though, had gone INSANE with the camo. I am talking 10-20 **LARGE** rocks carefully stacked up in quite a dangerous manner. I had to be very careful in fact not to hurt myself when removing them and make sure they didn't tumble on my feet!
After the cache was eventually retrieved and signed, I placed it back in it's very impressive cave and replaced the camo. But only used half as many rocks, and stacked them in a more stable way rather than balancing them! Still 100% covered!
Thanks Tankengine! Omg this was your very first cache placement too Has been on my list for a long time! (not including the adopted one!)

The logbook has sort of seen the end of it's day.
The back page is completely full of logs now.
There are empty pages inside the book though but I guess it doesn't make sense for people to log halfway through the book rather than after the previous finder, which makes sense :/
Will need replacing
Thanks!

Got it. Good one, Tankengine. Great views. I started on this one a few days ago. I collected the requisite number, and went away. Yesterday I came back with my friend Jen's dogs for the walk to GZ. Got there just as it started to rain, and couldn't find it. The dogs got wet and bored, as I tied them to a tree while I searched. They are not as understanding as my dogs ...
Went home all wet, and decided to check my calculations. D'oh. Mistake. Went back today with my GeoSchnauzers. We had a great walk in the cool, although we could hear thunder muttering in the background. Tied the dogs to the same tree, and quickly found the cache, about 5 metres past where I stopped looking yesterday ...
Looked at the views and headed off. We decided to do "Rocky Arbor" on the way back. We'd just got there when a load thunder clap frightened brown organic matter out of the dogs, so we gave it up and went home. We only got slightly damp today.
Thanks, Tankengine.

The starting numbers are by no means 'close', at least in the normal geocaching sense, but they are kind of obvious from the starting coords. Got the numbers OK and off I trudged up the path as the rhyme had instructed. Much chook and head scratching ensued when I got to GZ... in despair I left but thought to doubel check my numbers before marching down the hill.... whats that, a mistake, D'oh. Thats the problem with trying to keep all the numbers in your head sometimes, 15 minutes after seeing the sign I still remembered the initial numbers, but they didnt agree with my calcs, yeah, I was about 50m out. After that it was a quick find, and the cache was much bigger than I expected.
Initially I misinterpreted one of the instructions but the coords gave a possible but unlikely spot. So readjusted my thinking and set off up the trail with less than 100% confidence in my coords. However all turned out well and managed to extract the good sized container and sign the log. TFTC TE (and for the poetry)
#7341 - 15:05; I was heading up to the summit of Mt Taylor in pursuit of a trail of GCA challenge caches and decided I should collect some others which had been loitering on the 'to do' list while I was at it. I managed to make the required adjustment after reaching the posted coords to locate the number I needed to populate the rhyme, although not quite as 'nearby' as the descripotion suggests. Did the calculations and after collecting some of the other caches enroute, made it to GZ where this rather nice sized cache was located. The log was signed and the cache replaced in its hidey hole, the views enjoyed for a bit and then it was off up the hill again. TFTC Tankengine

Having lunch at the Burns Club Kambah, Trodectus and I decided that we needed to burn some calories to compensate. So, why not a Tankengine multi on Mt Talylor?
As it happens it is not that much of a walk, but fortunately I wrote down a number poorly from WP1 and we headed off to the opposite side of Mt Taylor. Reaching the incorrect coords and not finding the cache, I checked my figures and immediately noticed my error. Now we had to walk back over Taylors top and down the other side to the cache. How convenient, we actually really needed that extra bit of calorie burn off.
With the correct coords in the Etrex we easily found the cache.
Thanks for the Cache and the exercise Tankengine.

Found with Decrypter. Our adventure turned into a bit of a torment. We started off over-eating at a buffet at a nearby location. Being too full, D decided that we needed to work some of this off. I didn't have this one on my GPS, expecting that we'd probably do a simple drive-by as the rain had been on and off all morning. But now the sun was out. So we parked close to the starting point and I made my way towards the sign, only to see D stopping halfway and saying he was at the starting point. After a short fruitless search the bit about the original start was read and off we went towards the sign. Once here, D wrote out what was needed and the calculations were done. All looked good on paper and off we went. Looking at his GPS, D led us along the outskirts of Torrens for some distance, before we started up a steep slope. Not good on such full stomachs! Once we reached the spot, we started our search. D gave up but I continued. Then he announced that he'd not written out the original co-ords correctly and that we'd need to go over the mt. So up we went to the top and then down the other side. This time, when we reached GZ, we soon had CIH.As we'd read in previous logs, when we'd been at the previous spot, the log book is full and we signed on the back cover. There's still a bit of room there for future sigs. We did work up quite a sweat, but we probably didn't work off all the extra that we'd put on over lunch. TFTC.
Today we thought we’d tackle our remaining Mt Taylor multi caches, so we loaded The Woofer into the car and headed out. Despite the hill climbs and muddy patches, it was a nice day for it, and such a great feeling to finally gain smileys for some of our “nemeses” caches!
Ah Tankengine, you almost had us beat with this one, but after a few false starts (and one hill climb to the wrong coordinates!), we finally came back here today to face our demons. After realising the error in our calculations, we were pretty sure we had the right spot this time, and after beating our way here from a nearby cache, we were relieved to finally see a telltale cache hide and soon had the container in hand. A great big cache, with loads of cool swag! We didn't take anything in the end, but added some goodies to the mountains of things already in there. Log signed, then back down the hill for one more cache. A favourite from us - TFTC TE!

I collected some numbers at WP1 while I was here yesterday doing another multi. When Ifirst read (and re-read) the lovely little rhyme I had no idea what it was on about. Back at home slowly the brain brought the verses into focus and I started with what I thought was the most likely number. This gave me very promising coordinates that fitted the hint nicely.
Got to GZ at sunrise and tied the RP to a handy tree while I started the search.
Even with grip sole shoes it was slippery going on the dewy mossy rocks. So I took it slowly and carefully. I peeped in every likely spot and had almost returned to where I started when I found it. The log book is a piece of Canberra geocaching history and there is still room for a few more names on the back. Thanks for the cache, Tankengine

I parked here two days ago to head east in pursuit of the other nearby multi (Rocky Arbor) and to get Tankengine's Formidable Fivehundred - DNF'd the first and got the second. On return to this WP1, I had no light, but had a look around for numbers anyway. No luck. So today, with geohound,, I decided I would focus solely on these two multis. I didn't leave myself that much light to get this Waypoint, get the other and return to get this cache. But from my route two days ago, I recalled a 'normal number', so I wandered over to it and did the calculations. GZ looked feasible. I then headed off to Rocky Arbor, with the aim of coming back to collect.
Having got Rocky Arbor (this time around), geohound and I dashed up to the GZ in fading light. While geohound stood on top of a rock and observed...err supervised, I did the searching in lots of nooks and crannies. By this stage I had put on a headtorch. I finally found a promising spot and was very happy when the 'piece of pipe' was noticed. I had a scan through the log, looking at some familiar names dating back to 2002. I signed the back cover (perhaps a log Part II is in order) and took the TB. Geohound and I admired the views and then scampered back to the car. Mission successful, with another 2002 cache ticked off for the Old School Challenge - ACT. TFTC Tankengine

Grabbed this one on another sweep of the Mt Taylor caches. After doing the calculations and watching a brown snake near WP1 (didn't see any going cross country - only on roads!) headed up to GZ. Lots of walkers on the track today but nice and quiet at GZ. Some great rocks here. Retrieved the nice container and dropped a TB that won't fit in small containers. Enjoyed the location and the views.
Thanks

{96} Finally got to knock this one over, after a DNF is March 2014.
The verses confused me a bit at first, and I ended up with a negative number initially. Then I reinterpreted a couple of common English words (one of which has 48 meanings in the Macquarie Dictionary) and calculated some numbers that looked feasible. As usual there were lots of walkers about. In fact when I got back to the geomobile the parking area was chock-a-block.
Approach GZ from an angle that meant that I could see the hide from several metres away. Took nothing but left a few Woollies dominoes, as there was plenty of room in the cache. Signed the log on the cardboard backing section. This one will need a new log pretty soon.
Tks TE!
I think I am nine seventeenths of the way to Noikmeister's Old School Challenge now.

I hadn't yet decided where to cache for today when AngelG27 contacted me and suggested a few caches on Mt Taylor. That sounded good to me, so we met up at 1300 at the listed co-ords then headed up the hill towards GZ. We had difficulty finding the first number, but took a stab at calculating GZ. Our first attempt was obviously wrong, but the second looked feasible. As we approached our GZ, we started having doubts while reading a few past logs. These confirmed that we more than likely had it wrong. As we were near a great place to hide a cache, we had a closer look. Lo and behold there was the cache. TFTC - another favourite. Took GC.

Headed out on a geocaching mission with TikvaNZ to do some caches around Mt Taylor. As it transpired, we went over the top, down the other side, and half up again before finishing off a few caches around the base. Over the course of 4 hours, I collected 10 / 10 caches - which definitely put a hole in my caches yet to be found in this neck of the woods. I am enjoying sitting down to log - it rests my feet!
This was the main cache I was after today - it is lovely old one that will fill a hole in my "month placed" calendar. At the WP, we had a bit of trouble figuring out what number to use. We came up with a GZ that looked plausible, and so headed towards it from a nearby trad we picked up. But the logs did not tally with where the GZ was taking us. hmmmm. I decided to think like the CO - and said, if I were him, I would put it THERE. TikvaNZ took a look - and there it was!!! We were very luckly to grab, and thankful that intuition got us there in the end.
Thanks Tankengine - great GZ, great views. If I could figure out how to derive the numbers, I would give you a fav point! In fact, I'll give you one anyway - a cache this old needs a bit of love!

Something different and a bit special for our nighty expedition and thought it would be nice to do one of Tankengines oldest active caches and enjoy the night air for a bit of exercise.
We made the correct assumptions at WP1 and soon had a set of good looking coordinates and off we went. So many tame roos kept a watchful eye on us as we climbed upwards while we enjoyed the night views of the city.
We soon arrived at GZ, miss Stormcatcher made the find and found the largish cache all in great condition. Mr Stormcatcher took the high road so did a bit of boulder hopping to get down to cache level. Popped the lid on this historic old cache and surprising still had room on the back cover of the original logbook to make our mark. We love these old logbooks and this one deserves to be in a museum, the first to finds handwriting was immaculate , no one writes those long logs anymore! We could sit up here all night reading through the written logs.
A very beautiful location with the wind blowing in our faces, could almost be on some remote granite outcrop if it wasn't for the city lights reminding us where we were. There were very impressive mossy boulders here and with the recent rain had a little stream flowing from it. Was very nice finally getting around to doing this one, loved it. Thanks for the cache Tankengine .
Also dropped PT and trackable

I have to say that the leap of logic required to get the numbers now is a bit tough... Navstar was smiling down on me today because somehow I made the connection but it was a tenuous guess at best. I did the calculations, things looked good and I was duly rewarded at GZ.
Despite the difficulties with deciphering the clue, I thoroughly enjoyed the effort that has gone into the description. Location also wonderful, cache container wonderful, views wonderful, and very happy to have another oldie found in the ACT. A very happy Loki once my name was in that logbook [^]. Thanks Tankengine

Wandered around the start and found nothing, though after coming home I have thought of a possibility.
We had looked at this about a week ago on a run up and over Mt Taylor. We knew we'd be back here again sometime soon, so we photographed what we guessed were the relevant numbers, and then did the maths at home yesterday before heading out for a run.
The numbers all aligned, thanks to Mr Domskys interpretive reading of such beautiful poetry, and up the hill we went. We chose to take the path, not the straight up version, and picked a couple of other caches up along the way.
The pipe is in good condition and all is safe and dry.
Thanks Tankengine,
Domsky

This was the ninth find for me whilst riding around Mt Taylor today. I had figured out the coordinates for this one earlier and decided to grab this one today. Nice to see a big old one still around. I approached from the wrong altitude but got there in the end. It was quite funny as I emerged from the bushes to hear the voices of some little girls with their dad saying "What's he doing down there?" and "Why isn't he on the path!" If only they knew ! TFTC Tankengine!
Gave up on this one as couldn't figure the coords out from the description. We were looking for a sign or something, as per most other multis we've done.
i've just read it again, and think i might have an idea, so will try again at some point.

Beautiful day today and awesome enjoyed on the track with nice view on top of hills. Nice easy walk on the track off short to GZ, little searched to finally got it but little reach to get out from rock, sign in then return , no trouble cache well.... Thanks
Couldn't find the number at the given coordinates. Couldn't find any numbers within 20 metres of the given coords, but there was a phone number on the other side of the fence. Not sure if I was blind or if the number had been removed.
1 of 9 on a caching adventure up Mt Taylor with Shadow! and allrounder...we decided to walk straight up the mountain instead of the track route, was hard but fun! TFTC!
P.S. The cache was tough to reach so be wary when you grab it you don't knock it out of reach...

out for some exercise with allrounder and Liv81 and we said we wanted a walk but straight up, really?!!! Great view and TFTC

Visited wp1 on the weekend and came back today to find the cache. Awesome spot and nice to do a large one! Tftc
At the listed location, there was nought to see
Where are these numbers, A through D?
Have I misread the cryptically worded description,
That told me to look around for such an inscription?
Oh wait, when I read for the thirteenth time,
A glimmer of understanding becomes mine,
I don't assign A to blah, as my logic thinks,
But in reverse, blah to A. And my poetry stinks.
So looking round I see many numbers about,
But really only one stands out.
On my clumsy digits I count out the sums,
In a vista of wattle, kangaroos and gums.
The coords look likely, not far from the track,
About the right distance to get there and back.
But until I'm at GZ I won't know for sure,
So I hope I'm not back here for an encore.
With my small dog, we wandered upwards and on,
Seeing views that were stunning, and distance was won.
When the counter reached zero, this was the spot,
I could feel it, it felt right, I liked it a lot.
The huge cache was hidden away in a cleft,
I found it, I signed it, and back it was left.
So thank you Tankengine, once more you've excelled
Now it's time to return downwards, by gravity propelled.

For a cache called Tailors Torment and knowledge of this cacher I was glad that it wasn't too crazy. It was actually quite a pleasant walk and I can see why the carpark near the start was full of muggle vehicles. We journeyed up the hill and the view was rather spectacular even though we weren't the whole way up. I saw a tree branch that looked like something from The Dark Crystal. A nice big cache full of treasure, that's what I like to see! TFTC.
Another multi-cache on Mt Taylor down! Didn't take long to find the starting number, and we shortly had some coordinates that looked pretty likely and started on a pleastant walk up. Once we got to GZ it took no time to locate the cache, a very nice sized cache stocked full of goodies, awesome!
Signed the log, enjoyed the view and started our way back down. Thanks Tankengine!

I decided to do a loop of Mt Taylor today. I grab the dogs and set off. When I got to the way point I found a few numbers and had to phone a friend to check which numbers were the ones I needed. After that off up the hill and found the cache. Thanks Tankengine. Cheers

Worked out the coords for GZ with the GeoWife last weekend after stumbling around the listed coords for a few minutes until a 'normal number' became apparent just up the hill a little.
Quick trudge up the mount and a quick find. Lovely spot to sign the back cover of the log as the pages were all full, but still plenty of room on the back cover. Read some of the previous logs in sun while trying to dry the log book out a little - it was just a little damp but ok.
Great sized container and I'll be bringing the Jr Cachehunters back so they can make some toy swaps.

1387. I found some numbers during a previous visit and took them away to stew on them. I managed to generate some other numbers but was a little concerned with their proximity to another cache but thought they may be worth a visit. So the geopup and I headed to our GZ and soon had the container spotted.
Thanks TE for the cache.

Glad to get this one over and done with. I think I've almost cleared out the mountain...
Found it with some difficulty. Couldn't find the numbers near the beginning, so we relied heavily on the hint and pictures. Great location, great view.
This was our starting cache for Jackathol's and my attack on Mt Taylor. The weather had turned entirely this later afternoon from a week of rain the sun emerged and we were missing our sunnies. We gathered the info at the bottom, luckily written in large enough letters as we could cross over the little stream that had developed at the starting coords. A little bridge further west gave us access to the Mt. and up we went. Awesome views here, very different from the more central hills in Canberra as you can see all these small rolling (currently green) hills towards the mountain range. Canberra is such a beautiful place. Cache was found spot on the calculated coords. Nice dry condition. I even found a PT which made me very happy. Thanks for a great cache TE.
PS added Panorama picture of the view I am talking about.

Nice walk on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I took along some GeoNewbies who loved the adventure.
The puzzle slowed us down to begin with, but luckily we picked the right "normal number"

I'm an absolute beginner at this - signed up last night after stumbling on a cache - and don't have a GPS , so tried a suggestion of one of my sons to cut n paste the Tailors Torment coords into Google Earth. Did this, and then four of us went looking in the vicinity of the GE cross-hairs. Over half an hour later, no find. But reading the other logs about the slope and the hill etc, it seems we were a long way off (back on the flat, close to Sulwood Drive). Perhaps GE does not have the resolution needed for this . . . will do more research.
Reperio at 1200. Stopped by WP1 last night to pick up the numbers needed for GZ knowing that I would be in the area again today. Searched all around the area for them until I rang the owner to find out where I should be looking...and the answer was 60m away. Once that was sorted, I plotted the numbers and returned today for a trip up Mount Taylor. Found a neat little track that took me right to the spot, and after a bit of rock scrambling, the cache was spotted. Wonderful container.

Was getting a bit dark when we found this one, and what a big mountain. And I swapped for a little space shuttle in this cache! I get to play with it in the bath when I get home. Thanks for the cache!
I have been avoiding the Mt Taylor caches for some reason, so today was time to get one of them. Mr_rr & I spent a bit longer than we should have looking for a fiendish TE wp1 hide, but reading the cache notes and a phone call sorted that out and off we went up the hill, just to find the trail very close, oh well, we used that to come back down. Thanks.

A nice gentle start on our assault of Mount Taylor. If only the rest had been this gentle. TFTC
The day started out with a promise of a bit of a wander to crystal warrior and it was a nice walk up to the cache! I had had a false start as a result of not tuning into the changed circumstances at the beginning. So, it was onwards and upwards to the cache. Found reasonably quickly and on our way.
The log is full at the end but there is space further forward as a result of the usual non economical logging practices. Tks Thomas.

Jeepers, started on this one many many moons ago. A number (get it ? ha ha! ) of false starts but today was the day. I used the opportunity to see how I am coming along with my vertigo therapy by sitting above the cache, dangling my feet working out the coords for the next cache for the day. Must say, the actual cache was very very very well hidden and unfortunate for me, covered in icky webs. Great views from here. Another fine cache brought to you by TankEngine inc.
I have DNFd this once when I applied a too-rigorous interpretation of the clues when I had found the correct number. Was put right by the owner and knocked off work early today and tackled Taylor on again (hopefully for the last time). Log book is mostly full, but there are some blanks pages, one of which I used. I certainly appreciated the walking poles I now have and didn't the last 2 times I walked up Taylor.

Found the cache at 4.20pm, Good walk path, saw some kangaroos and lovely view from the top. Thanks Tankengine for help me. Finally found the cache, Took TB. SL. Thanks Tankengine for organising the Multi and cache.
Well the start point of this one was en-route of my Sunday morning cache run, but on the outbound trip I didn't find any of the number speaking to me with any certainty, so I decided to give it another go on the return trip. I decided to try a set that looked like they might have been replaced after the '03 fires and lo and behold the yielded a GZ about the right amount of distance away, as indicated by the clue. Charged up there as my time was running out. Potential GZ had a few spots, but couldn't find anything in those that were large enough for a Regular. Will have to email TE to check the co-ords.
Decided to ignore the easy way and went the hard way thinking it could'nt been that bad. Next time i'll go there easy way. Nice lookout with 180 degree views!

Tried again with "correct" coords this time, but although the location looks very promising... could not find that cache thingy. Running out of options... might need to take in reinforcements.
Clearly have the wrong coords. Saw some roos and a joey ... but no cache site. Will be back.
Solved the puzzle to this some time ago but was awaiting correct accompaniment from a fellow boulderer. Once GZ calculated I was amazed to realise I had actually climbed this piece of rock before as it marks one of our favorite non-trail ways up this hillock. Easy ramble to cache location on a not-too-hot day for a change. Same was in hand within the minute.
