Friday. On an excellent road trip with NyssaFlutterby this was our first cache on the way south of the border. Amazing tide flow here. Nyssa and I chatted about the area and discussed the answers. Admired the chimney and how it came to be. Picture (selfie) taken at this spot Smile wonderful earthcache here and enjoyed the visit very much. Nyssa and myself discussed the answers we would provide and answers supplied as a small group effort by Nyssa.

This was the 1st of 10 caches found on this outing.

Thanks **The_Bogans** for bringing us here Razz

A couple of weeks ago Mrs Slow Puncture and I started making a plan for a weekend away. We were very excited about heading north to grab a few DT caches. Then the start of this week rolled around and we started having doubts about the weather. It was “supposed” to rain, so plans changed and that’s how we ended up here. Going south instead of north.

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day! Sun shining, warm weather. Perfect for a visit to this lovely location. As we strolled to GZ we watched all the muggles enjoying the water and if we weren’t on a mission today I would have been in there with them.

Arriving at the chimney we took our time to discuss the questions and take a few photos. I know it’s not recommended to cross over to the rock but it wasn’t a bad tide so I carefully made my way over to explore a little more.

Thanks for the Earthcache The_Bogans Big Grin

I am back in Canada now and logging different virtuals and earth caches that I found in AUS when I was there. This was a beautiful place. The waves were sensational for a prairie girl from Alberta. TFTC (I will post a picture after I have found them.)

Was here following the event in Tweed Heads and we were picking up the multi information nearby. Realised I hadn't done the earth cache here so decided to do so. Have sent answers to CO. What a fantastic spot. Even through the surf was wild and there was lots of foam on the beach. Tftec

I sent the answers and received the ok from The_Bogans to log (on the 28th of Feb) but I backdate my log as I found this during a holiday in Australia, now im back in NZ.
It was a great time in Australia, we met some nice people, enjoyed snorkeling, swimming, stunning beaches, theme parks, indoor flights, kangaroos, koalas, more wildlife, boomerang, Parkrun, good food and and and - and some great geocaches!
Thanks for this earth cache, I remember a group of people doing yoga at the beach while heaps of kite surfers were in the water. It was a busy but nice spot here.

Found this yesterday whilst at Swell Festival. Thanks for such an informative cache ... really interesting to learn about how our surroundings where formed as they are.

We came here today with Mr STW"s sister to see the sculptures and happened to find ourselves at the chimney looking at an enormous metal frog balanced precariously on the side of the rock. How exciting to find an Earth Cache here too! We're a bit battle-scarred at the moment and had just picked up Mr STW from hospital and the little walk around to look at all the sculptures was exhausting, but they were worth the effort and this piece of beach was stunningly beautiful. Thanks for the EC!

Came up to check out the sculptures today. Ended up also finding a GCA cache and Earthcache whilst there.

...I never knew they were called Chimneys! Thanks. Smile

We got here about 3.00pm knowing low tide wasn't till just after 5.00pm but what the heck.

Cyclone Oma was still making a mess of the ocean and as can be seen in the photo, we had to time our run to the rock.

Worked out our answers and took off back to the beach. Let's not push our luck. Answers sent to CO.

Cyclone Oma may hit the coast in the next few days. The surf is high and the beaches are closed. Still, a few surfers are out taking advantage of the big waves Visiting from Canada. TFTC

TFTC,
We had lunch nearby and walked to here to learn about the Elephant Rock.
It was low tide with almost no swell so we were able to have a good look around.
I will send the answers for myself and Nana nel soon.

Find #2497
On our way back to the airport from Sea World, we spotted an EarthCache close to our route, so diverted in. We parked and walked over to the rock. We had to rock hop across a shallow trench, then checked out the structure. Very cool. On the way back we hesitated on the rocks and ended up with water up to our shins, so had to change footwear for the plane.... Best to leave shoes in the car for this one, but watch the scorching sands.... Thanks The_Bogans, answers have been sent.

We went exploring to the Currumbin Rock and Elephant Rock whilst there was a break in the weather. It was so windy though and we were amazed at the number of surfers in the water and how the use the rock platform to save themselves paddling out! Fascinating rock formations! We also climbed Elephant rock and were lucky to see some breaching whales! Thanks for taking us to this great place! TFTC

I went to this earth cache on probably one of the busiest days with all the art work on the beach. I made my way over to the rock (chimney) and wondered what the significance of the two kids on the rock, now i am wondering if they were part of the art works on show as I have not googled it yet.
Did my observations just on dark, sent the answers to the CO and got permission to log the find.
Thanks for increasing my geography lessons.

Went here on a fine sunny day. Peeps about, all of us climbing in the water, on the rocks, and stuff.
Had a Victorian mate with us, and had to curse the cold weather that allows us to go to the beach in the middle of winter!! So funny.

Out visiting the Currumbin area. We had intended to arrive in time to watch the Bird feeding at the sanctuary but missed it due to a confusion in the times on the website. Instead we had coffee, visited the Honey place across the road, and a spot of geocaching. A lovely walk on the beach brought us to this interesting rock formation! We had a great day!

Thanks for placing the Earthcache!

A nice walk out to this cache, together with many surfers. Well at location we had some problems to decide were the stone platform was as we only could see a lot of sand, and no restriction to enter what we thought was the platform. Well we did our best to answer questions. Greetings from Sweden

We've been here many times before but forgot to check out this Earthcache. Today after a big walk climbing up the east Cougal we came down to Currumbin for a coffee before heading home. As we arrived the rain began to pour down so we sat inside the cosy cafė to work out the answers. We hope they're ok. On the way out we stopped quickly to take a distant photo of the chimney in the rain! TFTE

Staying in Palm Beach I spotted this location and thought it looked awesome in the photos so decided to come for a walk and visit the Currumbin Rock.

The area was pretty quiet today so I took a picture at WP1 and read through it answering the questions. I then walked to GZ which was pretty difficult wearing shoes and socks. I don't live on the coast either so walking through sand in shoes is not the best thing I have ever done, so I really had to work for this one lol. Emptied out LOTS of sand afterwards, probably should of just taken them off, oops.

Answers and pictures sent to CO.

Great walk from bilinga along the beach to find this one - last day of our holiday here only managed to get a few due to mass amounts of people during this time of year! Will send what I think the answers are as I'm not too good with earthcaches Smile

30-Dec-17
One of the cruisiest places to do an earthcache, except for the crowds here today. We couldn't get a park anywhere near the beach so while MrG trawled the car parks I went to find answers for the cache. At least this actual spot wasn't teeming with beach goers. We've been past here many times over the years but at no time gave that lump of rock sitting on a rock platform any thought so it was interesting to read about the formation of the Currumbin Chimney and make some observations. We can guarantee, out of thousands at the beach today, I was the only one with a notebook and pen taking a selfie with the rock and judging by a few looks, it was a bit out of the norm. Razz TFTEC The Bogans.

Answers to this great earthcache have been sent. This was my 14th EC of the week and they've all been great, so lucky to have seen the sights on offer. There was a wedding set up ready for later at G Z though the sand was almost too hot to walk on in bare feet. Grabbed the answers and admired the chimney- wonder if Santa will visit this one next week?? T F T E C The Bogans

It's head home today and farewell to our hosts. We have plenty of time to get to the airport and I have my eyes on a couple of caches, not a massive number of them though. We've had a wonderful week in the area, both visiting people, and places, and caches. Thanks to all the local C Os for their efforts.

Over on holiday from N Z for a week visiting relatives and the local caching flora and fauna have been checked to see just what is available to find. This is not intended to be a massive caching trip, but I did manage to pick up a new G P S whilst over here so that will help with the disappointments of the current unreliable Etrex20. Targets were to be as many of the Earth-caches as could be managed, an old cache in a hidden month not in N Z and anything local, whilst 'passing', within the tolerance of the family. So far so good in respect to quality rather than quantity.

Traveling from Cairns to Sydney in a Campervan we enjoyed sightseeing by geocaching. Today we've visited the gold coast. We bypassed Surfers Paradise and enjoyed some points of view from Burleigh Head to Coolangatta.
Thanks for bringing us to this great place - unfortunately we had no time to find out the answers for the earthcaches questions. But I can add a picture of "the big frog"... how I call the chimney.

We have come to the end of our week on the Goldie.
A late flight today meant killing some time by Geocaching in between the southerly rain showers passing through and in an area that we seldom frequent.
The weather cleared and we had a very nice walk to GZ watching all the surfers coming in on the gentle inlet waves. Nothing gentle about the waves on the other side of the chimney though. They were causing plenty of spray.
An interesting Earth Cache thank you.

Down from Townsville to attend a rock climbing course this weekend, learning skills I hope to employ for some T5’s in the future.
Before today’s activities I tried to visit GZ but the road was closed due to the cycling race so I returned tonight in the dark.
Another interesting feature that I would not have known about if not for caching.

Master SEthRaven and I are here from New Zealand for a week staying with my sister in Brisbane. We came down this way for a couple of nights so we could do a few touristy things and I (of course) needed to squeeze in a few caches here and there and this one looked interesting. We came out today and watched an Indian couple getting a photo shoot of their pregnancy done and then when we got out nearer the Chimney there were more models out here also. I did the requirements and then we headed back to the car and our hotel. TFTC

#4488. I am visiting Australia and flew over here from New Zealand last week to attend a workshop in Brisbane. Now that the meeting is finished I have three days to sightsee and do some geocaching. After picking up caches in Brisbane yesterday I came south to spend the night at Tweed Heads. Later in the afternoon I visited the caches at Burleigh Heads. As it was now close to sunset I was heading south again to my motel. But decided to stop here to do the earthcache. What a beautiful white sand beach. Awesome sunset as well. The rock outcrop was examined from a safe distance to avoid getting wet shoes. The information was gathered here and at the display board. Have emailed the answers to the CO. Thanks for the earthcache The_Bogans.

Note Wellington NZ is hosting the "Wellington Geocaching Event 2018" on 21-22 October 2018. Hope to see some Australian cachers over there and give it a chance to become a Mega.

Out and about on this holidaytrip down under. Many things to see and do here and of cause there are some geochacing to be done.
Did spend some time studying the map before I left home, my list of geocaches that I Would like to find is long....so will have to chose wisely.
Guess the best ones are not on my list, longer hikes, high trees and mulitcaches are anmong my favorites, but limited time made me put others on my list.
This was one of the caches I found during my stay here

This was a busy roadtrip - driving from Melbourne to pick up CT_ZA in Sydney, and then spending a few days at the Gold Coast. 4500km covered in a week with much sightseeing and just a 'little' caching Wink.

Finally having reached the GC and explored around there we started our journey back south. This was one of our first stops on our way home, and a very worthwhile detour indeed. Geocaching is indeed the best tour guide Big Grin.
We explored around the chimney, took notes, and emailed the answers which were confirmed by the CO (thanks for that clarification on the weathering).

Thanks for this earthcache that was part of our fun adventure, The Bogans.

Monday 1 May 2017 - a superb sunny warm Autumn afternoon drive down the coast enjoying temps in the mid twenties and a light breeze. Found 4 from 4 caches (2 EarthCaches,The Chimney & Robina Rocks, and 2 trads). Plenty of people out and about enjoying the sun and surf, the river and the rocks.

Climbed to the top of the chimney and enjoyed the views. Will compile the answers and send to CO over the next couple of days. Thx MuggleDaughter. TFTEC The_Bogans.

Mr RoddyC has some caching time today, what better to do than be in the company of DiamonJs doing some caches around Elanora and Currumbin. We started just after 7.00am and finished about seven hours later on the first day of November - not too hot yet, and we covered a lot of different territory.
