#18999. Quick find for the first cache of our trip north. Interesting bit of history. TFTC.
StreetWalkerNZ and I were on the road heading north before 8am to try and beat the forecasted rain. It caught up with us as we approached Gore , but luckily it only lasted an hour or so.
As we headed out of town, this was a short detour. Thanks for the cache page write up and TFTC.

Got this one snagged and tagged. Cheers
Monday 26 October. Checking out Invercargill today. Lets go Toby!
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Cache 35 ️ easy to find park and grab even though I do suggest safe parking around the corner as it’s a blind corner you wouldn’t want to be rear ended. Log was wet (have messaged CO) I never knew this was where the original airport was ty for the history lesson, just enough room to add a rock bug to the cache T4TC
Had a great day out and about caching in Southland area today, many thanks to all the cache placer's.Thanks Bitsprayer
A nice quick find today. We're leaving on a jet plane (well Subaru), on the road out of town now. Cheers.
Time to have a holiday road trip, and today we started the road home, via Alexandra, to collect a few TMGT and other caches.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Seized this in post chocolate enthusiasm. On our way to Central for an overnight before heading home to Chch. Tftc
Bit of a hunt, found an umbrella.. that wasn't what the logs were on about! Then spotted the other thing which was a few feet away from the cache. SL returned to hide and placed the thing on top tftc
In town a little earlier for a meeting of sorts so decided to try for this one again.
Have been here once before and I didn't even attempt to look as Mr Farmer was on his tractor at the gate over the road watching... Tried once to out wait him while doing stuff on my phone but it became obvious that he was finding things to do while keeping an eye on me. Been past a few other times, and he was out in his paddock each time.
But today the coast (or runway) was clear. Followed the hint and soon found the well hidden container. Yay!
Alway good to get history of a place. I grew up in Taranaki on the flight path for the old airport ( ow an industrial area with roads name after aircraft) and have a memory of my Grandad moaning that he'd been told by council to trim the orchard trees as they were in the flightpath. Any plane low enough to hit them would already be in trouble but rules are rules and the Queen was visiting so they were being well and truly enforced.
Thanks for the smilie southlandicebergs.

Yay we did it 400th!! Thanks to all the cache owners who have placed them! TFTC easy find sl and replaced!
Heading down to Monkey Island and Clifden for the last two caches I need for the Old School Challenge. Mission accomplished and then back to Invercargill I go. Still time for a few more along the way and this was a nice quick find TFTC
#4880. I have been down south on a work trip and today was the second day I had set aside to do geocaching. Had hired a car on the Monday and had until 5pm today to locate as many caches as possible close to Invercargill. Parked by the private road and then went to look for the cache. Several options were present and found in the second place checked. Signed and replaced exactly as found. Thanks for the cache southlandicebergs.
Had to read previous logs to dig a bit deeper and coming out with a win.

The trees provided good cover. Searched a while and read some old logs which were helpful. The cache was found just under the rusty thing and left there. TFTC.
Almost the last cache for the night and it was a wee one. Took some finding with the torch and after a dig found the dry tube. SL and put the rusty thing back on top. TYFTC
Finally a great evening for caching. "Flew" right up to this one, last find about 10 months ago.
A quick easy find at a historical location, which we would not otherwise have known about. TFTC
Driving back to the airport from site I had 30 min to Spare so grabbed a few park and grab caches. The cache wasn't quite where indicated, but a look under the trees found it...replaced closer to where it should be. Tftc
Found myself in Invercargill with an evening and most of a day to kill so a bit of caching was on the agenda. A nice quick find. TFTC.
Interesting bit of history.Drove the other end of the road, looking for any hint of where the old airfield might have been, but could only go a short distance in before road closed so none the wiser.TFTC
Straightforward find, in early morning fog while in Invercargill. Thanks for the cache.
Love the interesting information on this one. Found quickly, looks like there has been a bit of trimming done in the area, made sure the container was disguised after signing and replacing. TFTC
Last find before heading back to the camping ground, having tea. Interesting that this was the road to the former airport. There is nothing else giving a hint of this site. TFTC
Nobody else has had trouble with this one so a little frustrating but we couldn't find it.
On a caching trip today with some fellow cachers. Called into cache on a round circuit from wyndham, mataura and hedgehope. tftc
A find by Miss Four, after some scratching around. A very good cache, but the road can be busy. TFTC
A couple of half days down south. Lots of new caches since I was here last. Thanks for hiding them!
Found a gap in the hedge to explore further. Saw lots of hobby farm blocks, all with lavish homes. Southland is doing well.
An easy find in an interesting area. Some of the houses around here are amazing.

Drove past but went back for a quick easy find with 3 generations of geocahers. T4TC
Drove about 800m past this one before we realised it was there, so had to go back and do it. TFTC
Quickly found, Saw this on the map and realized the cache was right at the entrance of road to sister's dairy farm so had to get it. TFTC
