Back in this part of the nation today to look for a suitable place to hide another cache as the old one had been archived, while we were sorting the new cache out there was a car parked right next to us and he said he was a geocacher and had logged this one ages ago,so it was good to see someone else was replacing a cacche in this area as it was a awesome place for one.He was showing us where it used to be when marisa&kaleb found another one that someone had dropped a day or so earlier, so we signed this log and then went off to hide our cache.this was found with marisa&kaleb,stairman1and myself.TFTC
while with the CO placing another one we were talking with another cacher about how there was one here and that it was a lovely area etc, I look over to gz at the rocks that seem to be covering something... wow a replacement cache with another log from another cacher, so have signed the log also took a photo for CO if they would like to confirm. stunning area to visit. thanks for the replacement cache
No response from owner. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
It appears the owner has given up geocaching so it probably needs to be handed on to somebody that can maintain this one.
DNF. Had plenty of time to look at this spot and pretty sure we had the right tree. Beautiful corner worthy of a geocache
No-one around, so plenty of time.. Looked everywhere. Pretty confident we had the right tree but no luck at all. Quite a lot of rubbish around so not very pleasant. On the plus side we loved the jetty and the view of the Lake and swans.
Had a decent search for this one but no cache. Did find rocks next to a small tree at co ordinates but no cache.
Cracker morning....but this site is a bit disturbing. Catfish in the lake! and general mess from the swans, as elegant as they are. We hunted in shrubbery but no find.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Travelling around the south-western shores of Lake Taupo. Our plan is to clear out as many caches as possible, before the Mega Event turns this area into crazy-land...
What a magical spot in the mid morning sun... We arrived to find a young couple dismantling their camp. I told the pair not to panic as I was looking for something, found the cache and promptly told them all about caching. The male is walking the Te Araroa Track and is interested in adding caching to his experience... Wish we had time to do this walk... TFTC.

Nice spot... Shame about the bag of rubbish left almost on top of the cache...
What a beautiful place, we found the cache easily and then had a lovely walk to the end of the wharf. TFTC
What a beautiful place for a cache the lake was amazing and the swans were lovely. TFTC
This should be a pleasant place but there's toilet paper and disposed nappies. I needed the hint because the coordinates are in fact about 12 metres out. Try the above.
Found with stairman1. The wind was starting to pick up as we searched for this one. Stairman1 found it. All good here. Now to for a walk and look at the swans. TFTC.
Found with goldielover. Then a nice walk out over the lake. Heaps of Swans here today.

Found it. No sign of a rock so put a new one on top and log very wet so didn't sign it TFTC we are off white water rafting now
Heading home after a week long solo camping and geocaching trip to Taupo. A beautiful morning. There was a nearby muggle topping the water up in his car from the lake. I checked to make sure he was ok before making a quick dash for the cache as he was filling his water bottle.

This is find number 1300 for me!

Last time we were here there was a carcass on the cache. Today it's all clear, beautiful day and there are 100's of swans out on the lake.
On our last encounter with finder smurf there was a carcass on the cache. but tbhis time he hit sucess. Also went on the whalf and there were lots of swans.
We watched the sunset on the long jetty, but before we found the cache! Thanks for this one and greetings from Germany!
We felt in love with Lake Taupo. We freedom camped near this cache. So we did a quick morning walk. Thanks for showing another beautiful part of Lake Taupo.
fun way to fill in an evening found the cache small systema container AND below that was an old black tapped pill container with a very mouldy log inside
Hi Z, we found what appeared to be the cache by following your hint, however, it had in it an old logbook from a previously archived cache? I signed what appeared to be a replacement log. See picture.
Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland

Thanks for the cache.
On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!

15th day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards north. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. After having a blast in South Island and in Christchurch Mega event, we had to start heading back home. Fortunately we still had few days left to spend in NZ while driving to Auckland.
Cache not where I found it easily previously. looks like a weedeater/ maintenance may have destroyed the cache

We found Black Swans, NZ Scaup's, Shags, seagulls & a Spoonbill but no cache. Lovely spot. Glad to have visited.
Were standing on the GZ according to our GPS, was not prepared to search through the decomposing swans to find the cache.
The gps co coordinates and clue pointed to a tree but there was a dead skeleton there, so unable to find cache. Will be back to find it
Same as below, we tried having a thourough look as the bones ain't stinking anymore.lol but definitely couldn't find it!
A nice bridge, but there were to many wasp around to get cache, and there were bones of some sort were we thought the cache was with finder smurf. Would love to come back and find it next time we are in the area.
Although the wharf and the hundreds of swans are lovely, the wasps and rotting carcasses on the cache are a bit of a downer
As per the last log we got to GZ and the smell was awful. Still tried to find the cache but co-ords were in the ocean, so reverted to Huhugrubs co-ords which were directly under the 2 carcasses. Sorry, Suggest cache owner check on cache and either remove it (if he can) or see if he can re-locate it. Pity to get a DNF in such a lovely spot...
Two carcasses pretty much on gz I think. Place really smelt and was swarming with flies. Did not attempt this.
On tour from Taumarunui to Turangi with good views to the Lake Taupo.
Thank you for the cache.

Although some of the logs and comments gave us doubt that we would find the cache easily our GPS took us to the most likely spot with some unlikely features around, hence a quick find. We were pleased about this as we were quite far from home and on our way back after a few days away. The lake was like a mirror this morning before the wind got up. TFTC
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
Quick find for a cache that I'm certain we have found previously.

Nice quick find before going out and exploring the end of the wharf.
Great spot, and a lovely day for caching.

There was a carload of muggles at the wharf when we first arrived but thankfully they moved off soon afterward and we had the place to ourselves. Didn't take long to find the cache and we were soon on our way. TFTC.
#6085. We went to have an afternoon drive around the southern Lake Taupo area. Stopped on Wharf Road to explore a little. Quite a few folks were out fishing, but they all headed out to the end of the wharf and left us alone at GZ. A good number of swans on the lake too. Quick find, but the GPS still said it was 12 metres away. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Went straight to the cache. It is a swan lake indeed. Numerous swans were gliding about on the water including a line of cygnets nearer the shore. Thanks for bringing us here.
Out for a few days of R&R. Drizzling a bit but still a great view of the of the Lake. TFTC
Cats&Dragons and I were spending the weekend in the Turangi / Central Plateau area organising some aspects of the 2016 Mega. Whilst out and about we were picking up the caches as we came across them.
Quick find extremely early this morning, no muggles around unsurprisingly. TFTC

Went down to collect cache, no one in sight then next minute two cars arrive an park on gz, enjoyed a walk down the wharf while they launched their kayaks and took photos. quick find tftc. Found on Central Plateau caching adventure with Rustynz.
It was starting to have a theme of the car park being empty, we arrive, then a few minutes later the muggles arrive. A walk down the end of the wharf, photos taken, life and philosophy discussed, and eventually a grab for the cache. Thanks for the history and the hide.
Found on a trip away with Just-Lookin to walk the Tongariro Crossing.
Good quick find for us here SL TFTC

Collecting a few of the local caches while in the area with tmann421. A nice easy find, but were surrounded by a few mozzies TFTC
Murphy's law,we went to the wrong tree first. After examining a lot of stuff we went to plan B & found the cache almost straight away.Thankyou.
Hi , TYFC . A couple of false starts when turned to right too soon out of Turangi but could see the wharf. Did nt know it was there in 45 years of living in the district. I never got closer than 12 metres to cache but hint helped .
A quick find after walking the wharf; beautiful night; on the lake ; could hear the swans....TFTC
1.35pm - Only 3 swans here today. Co ords do put you in the water. Cache a little damp also. SLTFTC
Was meant to get a early start and get a full days caching in but had a bit of a lie in and didn't get out the door till mid morning. Managed to find all that I wanted and ended up with 22 caches for the day. Had fallen in love with the area once the day was done, thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches and bringing me here.
Spent way to long here looking in the wrong spot. Had pretty much given up when I thought I'd check a couple of alternatives a little wider out from where the GPS was telling me GZ was. Bingo first place I looked, how frustrating!!!

Cool wharf and lots of birdlife to admire. Easy find for geo mum and youngest geokid while geo husband and oldest geokid searched wrong tree! TFTC
Great spot on a very raw and rainy day. Thanks to Paws44 for jumping while I stay dry and drive
A nice fine day today and a muggle was putting his boat in but no prob..used the car as a screen, soon had cache in hand and written up and re-concealed..TFTC!
Found that one today with Pandabär13´s company as well as a very little cacher. Great place to work, ay?
After a couple of days away from home today it was time to head back north, the weather could have done more to make the enjoyment of the drive/caching better but then you can't hope for everything when the country is getting a lot wetter than what I did.
Thanks for the placement
Thanks for the placement

We had to do a lot of searching for this great hide. we had all but given up, when the Tigress grabbed it. When the going gets tough call super-gran.
found with Absters. TFTC

Lovely Lake views and lots of Swans enjoying the sunshine, many thanks for the history lesson and for the cache.
Ahhh, that looks much better. Doesn't need maintenance anymore. Won't need your snorkel gear!
