Found by The Empire + HIn the cool morning light, we arrived at the Pink Lakes in Murray-Sunset National Park, the sun casting a soft glow over the landscape. Having visited the salt lakes near Dimboola before, I was curious to see how these compared. Instantly, they felt more captivating, not just because of the vibrant pink hue, but also due to the remnants of old salt mining equipment scattered nearby, adding a sense of history to the surreal scenery. As we continued our drive around the Pink Lakes, the scenery shifted from vibrant salt flats to low scrubland, dotted with native flora. While rounding a bend, we spotted a few stumpy tail lizards basking on the warm gravel road. Their stocky bodies and short, blunt tails stood out against the sandy terrain. We slowed down to get a better look, careful not to disturb them as they lazily crossed the path. Thanks for the cache slinke.-M

I found this cache as I was heading back home to Adelaide after the Capital Geobash Mega event over Easter.I was travelling solo again and took somewhat of a zig-zag route, following caches of interest. My main focus was on the non-Traditional cache types, although I did find a few others opportunistically. After a bit of rain the first day after leaving Canberra, its been pretty good weather the rest of the time. The cache and contents were found in good condition. Thanks slinke for the cache.

Quick find and a nice view from gz. nice container.Out with Mogni for a 3 day weekend, leaving friday morning and coming back sunday night. The plan was to go to Cowangie in Victoria and then head in to Murray-Sunset National Park then head on to Mildura and come back via Rufus River road ( in New South Wales ) to South Australia. Night 1 was in the Murray-Sunset National Park at Mopoke Hut camp ground and Night 2 at Mildura then going back to Adelaide. It must have rained recently in Murray-Sunset since the sand wasn't like fine power as expected and other sections of the National park had bypass tracks around the water filled ruts in the main track. Going around one of the bypass tracks i staked a tyre on the friday but didn't notice it to saturday morning. The stake went right beside the tread and the inside wall of the tyre, the stake was the size of my finger tip. Also turns out that i got a screw in my rear tyre thrusday night leaving work. There was alot of reinflating tyres this trip. The flora change in the national park was surprising but i figured that is due to weather or not the ground was sandy or muddy. When we got to Mildura we targeted the 2 multi's mogni wanted to do and of course they were the ones with 7 and 11 stages. After that we targeted the caches with high amount of favourite points and then left the next day via New South Wales so we could get the virtual at Lake Victoria and some of the older 2003 around the border track. A good weekend away 4x4ing.

Sir_spectre and I decided we needed to get away for a few days, so off to Murray Sunset NP and Mildura we went. Not a huge number of caches were found, but we had a great time exploring the NP. We fixed anything we could. Thanks to slinke from mogni

Found with Coybear2000. We were driving from Adelaide to Ouyen and decided to stop here. I had been here many years ago, this was C's first visit. We parked nearby and headed to GZ. There were lots of spiky grass seeds, I really felt it when a couple got in between my socks and shoes. Once at GZ we quickly spotted the hide. Log stamped and all replaced and we followed a clearer route back to the car. Nearby we saw a flock of blue bonnet parrots. TFTC.

With the new year we decided on a new destination to continue our holiday trip. Checking the weather forecast, we opened the map, our music playlist played "Follow the sun"... our next journey is north west Victoria. We started by discovering the Little desert then traveled across the magnificent Big desert enjoying the Milmed Rock track and finding the BIG dune. We finished our week by visiting the beautiful Murray sunset NP. We spent relaxing nights at very nice and quiet bush campsites and had so much fun on the 4wd tracks. We already want to come back for a new adventure, new discoveries and of course more geocaches!

Aussie M & M were on a mission today to get off the beaten track and also get to Ouyen. We came out here and enjoyed finding 3 caches around the Pink Lakes here and also saw several people setting up hoping to catch sight of a fiery murray sunset.
Left a pathtag here for the next people to have.

What a beautiful area! You have chosen an amazing spot with a view for this cache. We were excited by the cache type discovered and everything was was good and well with it. With our name in the book and some more time spent admiring the area we had to make tracks with the looming storm clouds heading our way. A fav point added.

After attending the fantastic Murray Adventure- Rocket Lake event this morning we joined forces with The Tritonz, Papi4056. Geotutrle37, Posum, McLookers, tomstouche, Gemma Sistema and micaparamedic for a day of 4wding fun and also picking up a few caches.

This was the second for us. It's an a It was only absolutely amazing number of fires over this area where the mallee tree must be quite resilient to fires as throughout the park we didn't see many signs that one had been through. It was only McLookers and ourselves that hadn't previously found this cache so off we went on the short walk to gz where McLookers soon had the good sized cache in hand and our names were added to the log.

Thanks slinke for the cache and the history of the area.

I am glad there were no fires in the park today. We really enjoyed the drive in. Thanks slinke.

Heading into the Murray Sunset National Park for the adventure weekend and as I was able to sneak away early from work I was able to find a couple of caches before pitching camp for the night.
I’m not going to mention the 1-1/2hr delay on the Calder Hwy due to road works in 2 spots bringing traffic to a standstill down to one lane.
Thanks VicRoads for the great planning on a Friday afternoon on a long weekend for that Rant over.
I have been in this area before but that was pre caching days and it was great to come back up here for the weekend.
Found my way to Pioneer Drive and soon located this one.
The area looks great after all of the rain during the week and it will be interesting to see the state of the tracks in the area for the weekend.
Past a couple of campers on my way to this one and I was a tad early to enjoy the sunset from here but I will enjoy it from the campground.
I’m glad it wasn’t so fiery around here this afternoon.

Thanks slinke TFTC.

This year our plan was to spend our "summer vaction" in Australia.
So arriving on the 7th November we took over the campervan and started our tour from Sydney to Adelaine. On that tour we found a lot of caches. This was one of it.

Thank's a lot to all CO's that placed and maintain the caches here in "Down Under".

WOW other than the million n one flys and how hot it was we parked and grab some frozen water bottles out of the fridge and headed down onto the salt flats , salt was a bit wet from recent rains and my 100 kg footprint left shallow marks but it was so peaceful and heaps less flys took heaps of pics Thanxz for the Adventure

Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.

Today I was lucky enough to be out and about so I targeted this cache.

Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Thanks slinke for placing this cache.

24-Oct-16
Lovely spot and a nice find with micaparmedic as locus had already found this one.

Talk about déjà vu ..... this is the second weekend in a row that I have been on a girls caching road trip with Locus Cache to Victoria. This time however it was a fabulous 4 day jaunt AND we may have even brought back a lovely Victorian fella with us (micaparamedic).....ALWAYS an enjoyable time when we hang out! SurprisedWinkCool

Kaye and I travelled from Adelaide to the beautiful Warrnambool area to attend a Friday night picnic in the park event and then on Saturday we enjoyed a yummy BBQ lunch at the 1 month to the Surf Coast Mega Event. Bendigo was our next overnight stop and then we headed home....which only took us 15 HOURS!! haha It wasn't the Little Desert National Park we got lost in this weekend, it was Murray Sunset National Park...LOL - but we did get a joint first to find which made the detour all worth it....who needs to get 8hours sleep before needing to be at work the next day anyway?? Wink

We targeted a number of caches over the weekend, including some oldies of Alex...very cool finding original ammo cans in the bush and some to help out the D/T grid!

Once again the conversations were highly amusing and we enjoyed lots of belly laughter!! haha [:o)] Big Grin

We saw kangaroos, emus, lots of birds and a whole heap of water due to recent heavy rains.

GEOCACHING ROCKS!!! [:X]

Thanks for the cache slinke! Smile

My mum used to do a week long ride through this park every year with the Melbourne Trail Riders Club, who still do this ride. I hadn't been here in 20 years, and after a lot of research and safety planning, undertook a solo expedition here by myself to retrace Mum's steps, who passed away a few years ago.

We used to camp here on one of the final nights. What a magic location.

Got some great pics here, and went down and tasted the salt.

A fave for me for a brilliant spot.

Cheers and thanks!

A long weekend and another trip with the geo 'rents and geobro'. What a cool way to spend Easter Cool
Headed for Albury for 2 nights and then Bendigo for 1 night and we took each day as the caches came. A turn here, a turn there, a dirt track here and there and miles and miles of bitumen [^]
LOL, I've just seen one of geobro's cache logs and it reads very much like mine SurprisedWink
Although he forgot to mention that he not so kindly shared his viral germs with geomum and I! [xx(]
Today (day 4) I found 26 caches Smile and had 2 DNFs Sad

Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.

Geomum doesn't like sand so it took some convincing for us to get into here this evening but the tracks were all good and the caches were found Smile

This was day 16 of our trip out of Sydney to the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania. We decided to go and look for the two caches available in this area as we were camping there for the night. It was a very quick and easy find. The sunset was very good too and the flies were super friendly. TFTC.

Decided to take a short detour on our way south to have a look at the pink lakes - which were not that pink today. Another reason to this detour was of course to find the two available geocaches.
