On another mission for caches today, this time with ThatDarnBear as driver and UnicornLex to make sure I don't collect too much random stuff along the way Tftc
I love the extra effort gone into this container. Worth the FP given. Thanks for the fun and for the cache.
I had a free day while the rest of the family went out boating so I did what every keen geocacher does in a new location. I have attempted this series before but did not complete it as I tried it in spring when all the trees are shedding pollen, and I could not continue with the layers of pollen making me sneeze. It is a fun little trail with very clever themed cache containers that just add to the general amusement. I completed this series and have avenged all my previous DNF's and got some new ones too. Great container that once at GZ was a quick little find. TFTC
My first find on the opposite side of the construction zone. Thanks for the fun!
Today the Lolly Scramble series is my target. I'm with MacPacMum and while I find them she performs any maintenance required. Most are in excellent condition, with some needing fresh logs and baggys, and an odd few that need replacing altogether. It's great to have a power trail where all the caches are themed containers, and each one has had so much time, thought, and effort put into them. Thanks for keeping this trail going over 10 years MPM.Awesome cache! FP for this one.
14:13FITW AaronE215Another big trim for this hedge. The cache was still well camoed. Never had spearmint leaves, if that's also a lollie. But I did use to have the Wrigley's Spearmint chewing gum, the one that's in long strips.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, MacPacFamily!#9932
Sitting out in the open and the spearmint leaves had been over watered but log still dry. Returned to where it should have been.
Found on a wet day while out in the area. Cache was exposed, so we placed it back where we thought it should be. Tftc
A fairly quick find of this nicely camouflaged cache, although for us it seemed a few metres SSW of the coordinates. TFTC
Well, we managed to come out in the afternoon for a few more finds. This was a quick and an amusing find.

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park at ‘The Willows’ in West Melton for the next day or so … today we decided to go for a drive to get us some ‘Sheffield Pies’, grab some Ad labs & a few caches as well … this cache was easily found (love the camo on this … even though it’s completely out of place), log completed & then replaced … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #3,721 for us.
The idea of doing 200+ caches in one day had been one that I had considered for a long time, but not something I had made any moves on doing anything about until the idea was raised by others in a geocaching group I am a part of. As we were all based in Wellington, the logical place to try this was Christchurch with it's lovely flat lands, long straight roads, and wonderful art work series. Unfortunately the weekend that worked for most of the group was not one that worked out for me, so instead I came down here a few weeks earlier than they planned to and did the the trip by myself.
I started finding Geocaches at exactly midnight on Sunday. I kept finding Geocaches for the next nineteen and a half hours, when at about 7:30pm I decided that the tiredness was getting to a point where this was no longer a sensible idea. I found:
31 Traditional
180 Unknown
1 Multi
For a total of 212 Geocaches in 19.5 hours. That's a rate of 10.9 per hour. I am pretty happy with that. I focused on the Smurf series, the Metal Mania series (a set of puzzles that I very much enjoyed), and the Glossary of Geocaching series, with a few other sets and individuals in between. It was a fantastic day, very much helped by the wonderful weather and the use of a car that had no problem on gravel roads ('cos it was a rental).
A huge thanks to all the CO's that place and maintain these Geocaches. Despite the rushed day I created for myself, I did enjoy each and every cache I found. It is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip. Of course there were many other solved puzzles that we collected as well. This was our Big Day out plan where we'd planned to get as many caches as we could. Unfortunately we just fell short of our target as we lost track of the exact number of finds. Good preparation and a fantastic team to work with made this an enjoyable and successful day. We'd completed the Fresh Breath, the Smurfs and the new Skelly series. This line up of lollies was our next target caches. I am a great fan of lollies. This was such a cool little series all with nicely themed hides. I have to agree that spearmint is a herb and we can definitely justify counting gummi leaves in our 5+ a day without any tinge of guilt..after all they're just a delicious salad! Pete found this good one. Thanks for the effort to make them all fun
Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei on Wednesday avo. Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list.
Today looked like being the best weather for our trip, despite a heavy thunderstorm overnight. We had a Big Day Out planned, with a perhaps optimistic target of finding 300 caches in one day. Working together well as a team, with a driver, a navigator and a jumper, we made good progress, but in the end, the bigger distances between caches, that we hadn't anticipated, meant we ended the day a bit short.
A fun day though certainly, and sincere thanks to the GeoArt & Trail CO's, and others, for placing and then maintaining such large numbers of caches so well. A testament to your dedication to Geocaching was the very low number of DNF's during the day. Apologies for the mostly generic logs, but be assured your efforts were truly appreciated.
I found this one in the hint location. Again, another appropriate cache container.

Northland's Team Gold (0B80B8, Liz Crew, DaffyNZ) are in Christchurch for a few days collecting all our solved puzzles and other cache types as we drive past. This is our "Big Day Out" to collect as many caches as we can in a day. Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks for placing the cache. We are loving every cache we locate that adds to our tally for the day.
Found it. Another great cache container. TFTC

We were camped up a few ks from this end of the road so mrs rattll decided to go for a bike ride and see how many of these lollies she could polish off.
I did about 48ks cycling and gobbled up about 28 yummy caches.
Thanks for putting this fun series here.
It was on its side when I found it. I love these lollies but never thought of claiming them as a salad - genius!

Having a tiki tour around Canterbury and after lunch in Oxford had some fun caching for a few hours. Had fun doing about half the lolly scramble for the day...some were easy, some a took a little more searching. A few prickles got me and long grass + pine needles made me itch but a fun way to spend the afternoon. Tftc
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
No time to waste today - We each had caching jobs to do, and our day was mostly planned... It was our intention to break the back of this lengthy Lolly Scramble trail. But as time wore on, we watched the sun turn a deeper shade of orange as it began to set over the ranges. Thank goodness for daylight saving! We definitely enjoyed the various themed cache containers on this section... Thanks M&Ms and TFTC.

Loved this container! So creative and hidden in plain sight, we are happy to give this a fav point. Thanks for the thought and effort put into this series.
After a big day yesterday collecting caches around the Mt Thomas tracks, we headed out in the car today to clear some roadside caches. We had a pretty successful day with 55 finds and just 2 DNF's. All finds were nice and quick and any specific notes will be mentioned below. Thanks to all CO's for your caches and sorry for copy and paste log but I had no internet at time to make detailed logs.

One of 24 caches located this afternoon on a drive along South Eyre Road and back through Oxford and along Tram Road, picking up 11 Lolly Scramble caches (thanks to M&Ms for all those) that I hadn’t previously done, plus a number of others. Most were quick finds although, like the previous one, I took a brief moment to spot this one. Nifty setup! #3033. TFTC.
Lolly Scramble: Spearmint Leaves (Canterbury) was transferred from MandMCachers to user MacPacFamily
So clever I didnt work it out. Luckily for me nzser came along the road and we got yarning. He came up with the goods! Very goid camo. Never gave it a second glance! Thanks for the hide.

Driving home from a dog walk outing on the Eyre River and there on the side of the road was a lost looking Jude_E who had beaten me to my previous cache. Turned around and came back for a chat. Was able to find a very tasteful cache. TFTC - I really do love this series.
Wondered before arrival how the cache container would follow the lolly theme, clever; TFTC

A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 16 Glentunnel to Waikari 76 caches found. Decided to do this series. I enjoyed the work that has gone into this. With every container I smiled and thought about the memories it brought back. Thank you for the placement

As part of an eight hour maintenance run along the Lolly Scramble this cache has been checked and logbook replaced.
Jess.daphne and I decided to go on another caching mission in order to get 50 caches to get the final Hidden Creature souvenir. I also wanted to take my new car on her maiden caching mission. We all had a fantastic day in the sunshine and howling wind, getting dusty and windswept; team Jeje riding in Gigi. Sorry for the generic logs but TFTC.
Found today with injeanious, we got around 50 caches today in order to find all of the hidden creatures. We signed the logs as JeJe to save time and space. Tftc!
I've had a lovely Easter Saturday afternoon ambling around the foot hills - now on the homeward stretch so decided to find a few of the Lolly Scramble series. I found a few in 2013 and haven't been back since - hard to believe it was that long ago.
Thanks for this cache & the effort that you've put in with this series, MacPacMum. I still have more to find after today.

Oh my goodness! The effort put into this series by the CO...amazing! Logbook completely saturated though, dried the cache out as much as possible and found a bit of paper in the car to keep it going until some maintenance can be done on the cache. Out and about with ahg TFTC
I had a half day skiing at Porters, then went via Oxford and grabbed a few caches afterwards. Rainy day, but enjoyable all the same. Thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaining their caches.
This is probably my most enjoyable day caching yet, I really really enjoyed finding such an array of containers, many of which I have never seen before. I found myself imagining what I might find at the next stop. This one is creative. This is definately a trail I will bring my grandkids to if I ever get to bring them to CHCH. Thanks so much for the enjoyment I have had today
A nice sunny afternoon out caching where the water would let me! Cool container! TFTC!!
