Heading to Wallaroo for a weekend of caching, trying to finish some we have started along the way and start the abandoned sidings trail. TFTC
Road was closed . No activity, we will go up it anyway, its only 600 metres. It definitely was lying in waiting for us. Quickly, spotted , stamped and replaced.TFTC
After over seven weeks on the road, I'm back home and finally catching up on all my logging.Caching in South Australia was fantastic, so many good hides to find, and we found ourselves zigzagging all over the place doing lots of geoart but of course ran out of time to get everything done on our to-do list. The majority of caches we found were in great condition and well maintained, which is a credit to all the CO's who placed them, so thank you.Our logs were mostly signed as 6 for QLD to save room on the log sheets, and no doubt, we'll be back again in the future.
A February Mega brought us to Adelaide. Our group is traveling together and signing logs as 5 for QLD.Today we are working from Maitland then back towards Adelaide. Our target is the solved puzzles of the PSA Geo art series. It is a very hot a windy day. Collected this along the way.Log signed and cache replaced as found on March 11, 2024. TFTC, M's Piggy (Babe).
Still in and around Adelaide after the one day Mega visiting areas and picking up caches as we go.Caching with and signing as 5 for QLD including RoddyC hatzofff Imbunda snickersallan and grannysmith1947.TFTCache M's Piggy (Babe)

If looks could kill so a slight detour from the Postman Pat series to grab these extra two caches,Oh my a Paul Newman fan here, those blue eyes and smile
After a morning picking up caches in and around Glenelg and attending the CITO in ST Clair I headed back to where Id finished last night to complete the Unicorn.I also wanted to pick up a few specific caches to close out a challenge cache I was working on.All caches where found in good condition and logs signed and returned to there resting places.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this piece of Geoart available to be found.Cheers
Container was broken and upside down. Replaced cache container and removed geo-litter.I left the dried out carcass of a roo behind.Collecting some smiles on some letterbox caches and wherever I stop today.Sandyofthesea and I are supporting a crazy running mate (@curlyrunsnz) who has run the length of NZ, Tassie and has got to Adelaide. Today, his aim is Port Wakefield to Lochiel and his goal is Darwin.M's Piggy (Babe), I found Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke) today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.* * * * * * *SAs Leap Year Event - GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. Keep looking up!
After a Podiast appointment in Port Pirie, I headed south for some geocaching. Aim was to finished Sad Fisher series and more of the Mail Road trail, also picking any on the way and in between. All caches were in good condition unless mention in the log. TFTCGood find.
Found it! As previous finder said this container has definitely seen better days! Amazingly the log was dry inside so had no problems signing it. Replaced as found. TFTC!
With today suddenly being free, I messaged WayneAPN & Cheezel1961 to see if they were keen to tackle a few caches around the Hummock Ranges near the Port Wakefield area for the day. Withing minutes a trip was planned and the 3 Stooges (we'redunn4, WayneAPN & Cheezel 1961) set off on another adventure, targeting the letterboxes of the Mail Rd trail, some of the Sad Fisher and a few of the Gone Fishin' series.
An excellent day out with bakeries visited, plenty of caches found, lots of banter & lame Dad jokes, plus we even managed to save a sheep that had its head stuck in a fence.
The container here was in disrepair and we didnt have any spare that would fit the notepad logbook so managed to put the Systema upsidedown to keep the rain off the log, but a new container is required

Well who am I to argue when an offer like that comes along
So here we are, weredunn4, WayneAPN and I collecting a few caches North of Adelaide.

Out caching on a very wet day with shonky logic and Uni & Medusa.
We originally planed to start the On your Bike series but as we got closer the rain got much heavier so decided to do a quick plan change and head away from the rain band and over to the top of the YP and start the Sad Fisherman series instead, along with anything else we passed along the journey when it wasn't raining.
All caches found were in good order.

The original plan was to head towards Swan Reach but the weather changed that and we went to Yorkes instead where it was dryer.
Found a completely blank logbook being guarded by a kangaroo.. well it was a roo once. Thankfully it's mostly decomposed and no smell... Just a bit creepy.

Found a very dead cache guardian here! And very brittle and damaged cache. Will replace when next in the area.
Today I intended to get a start on the fisherman, but as I was going past the post man pat series I was too easily distracted and decided on a whim to use it as a means to get to the top end of the fisherman. A nice little cache out here, absorbing great views of the ranges.

Today headed out solo for a big day of caching around Port Wakefield and a bit of the peninsula for some fishing and then home via Balaklava.
Enjoyed the day out but was knackered when I got home. Some great hides and a lot of manky mint tins.
Got a bit sun burnt. Enjoyed a lovely packed lunch on the peninsula.
All up just over 50 caches found for the day as well as the lab caches In Port Wakefield.
Thanks to all the CO for the hides was a good start to the New Year.

Found on a trip from Wool Bay on Yorke Peninsula back to home in the Adelaide Hills via Maitland, then up to the northern plains to find most of the caches on the circuitous back-roads in an area between Nantawarra, Balaklava and Bowmans, finding 22 caches for the day and clearing up a very rewarding portion on the map. I have been trying to get to Australia for 2 years, but needed extra people for the assault on Yorke Peninsula. Three people minimum. Suddenly it started coming together and at last we are all here. It was a huge trip with over eight hundred caches in one day, one hundred wherigos, some web cams, virtuals, events and even the odd traditional. 1500 caches all up. Maybe more - I have lost count. Seventeen badge upgrades including two new diamond badges! Woohoo! And all done in one week. By the time I log this lot I don't think I will want to go geocaching ever again. For a week, anyway. And did we cache it out? Hell, no! I'll be back one day.
All caches signed as KAA or stamped with the KAA pirate stamp. KAA are the Kiwis and Aussies - mostly Mar1sa and the Seagnoid for the Kiwis, skuzzybear, Munja and DavidWazza for the Aussies.

It was a few months ago when a few Kiwis suggested that they were looking at coming over for a crack at the York Peninsula Geo Art. After a month of organizing, planning and hoping they finally arrived and we were finally able to begin our trip. Our day started with some caching around the city, picking up a few unique cache types before heading to a lunch time event in honour of the Kiwis. An enjoyable event of good food, drink and company was had and not long after we were on our way. The rest of our afternoon was spent caching our way North, picking up the odd cache here and there. After completing the letterbox series near Port Wakefield, we finally made our way to Walleroo and our accommodation, though the drive between the two was not complete between the two was not complete without a few more caches. After we all arrived and had tea, we all hoped into bed in attempt to get some sleep before tomorrow’s big day. All caches found as a group were logged as KaA (Kiwis and Aussies)

Day 3 of our 4 day geoadventure with Rapidlywild on the Yorke Peninsula. After a big couple of days/ nights, the bodies were starting to tire, but we were still working to finish the trail and others on the Peninsula.
We finished the trail, headed for some dinner and decided to head out and collect a few more targetting the letterboxes just outside of town. A few laughs collecting these ones in the torchlight.

Well, what a weekend! The FFLL ladies and myself decided to head over to SA to tackle the newest installment of the Fishy Tales caches, the Gone Fishin' series. Having a long weekend presented to us, and a day extra, we had a big task at hand to get them all done, but we did! There were many tears of laughter, exhausted bodies each night, and plenty of caches found. We even managed to score ourselves a few Earthcaches, Virtuals and even Webcams along the way as well as me passing my 10,000 find
All checked into tonights accommodation in Port Wakefield, so it was time to head out and get some letterbox caches for the FFLL ladies. I had previously done the Letterbox series, so I was driver. I managed to get a couple new finds along here though
Thanks for the cache hide M's Piggy (Babe) and a very special thanks to the FFLL ladies for an awesome fun filled adventure away Looking forward to the next adventure.

Today I ventured north with Bob From Elsewhere to gather a few caches. Our main target was the series of letterbox caches around South Hummocks.
This was Bob’s first caching trip this far north and I could sense the angst as we left the badlands and Nirvana behind us. Like Christopher Columbus, Bob discovered a ‘New World’ - one without without factories! I wonder how long it will be before we see some 'Reel' caches up this way.
We had a very pleasant day and ended up visiting around 50 caches, including the Letterbox series, multis, an earthcache, puzzle caches and traditionals.
This was a quick find as we made a slight diversion from the Letterbox trail.
Thanks M's Piggy (Babe) for the cache.

Another detour off the letterbox trail.
Our aim this afternoon was to grab all the letterbox caches along this trail and throw in whatever else we came across as well. Everything was found reasonably quickly and there were no issues with any of the caches we found. There was a strong wind blowing when we started which increased throughout the afternoon with recordings of 48-60 kmph. As we neared the end of the trail, a dust storm kicked up and reduced visibility in places. tftc

We have a small team travelling to The Yorke Peninsula in South Australia from Canberra. It was decided by the group before we left that our team name would be DTY, although I act like the boss, I rarely am and so the initials actually stand for - dty73, Tankengine & Youban.
We came here in particular to do this trail of letterbox caches to help our statistics. However we couldn’t pass some of the traditional as we were going by. This was obviously one of them.
Quick find in the obvious place. Very interesting container and the views were nice too. Tftc M’s Piggy (Babe)!!!

A small menagerie of the puzzled puzzler animals had planned to visit the top end of the Yorke Peninsular to seek more smileys on their individual maps. Unfortunately the Starfish had injured his back the day before which left just the Adder and the Rat to fulfill the quest.
The Rat who had already made her mark in many of the finds, navigated in a fashion, where the Adder was left to do the searching. All logs signed and returned as found. A few were on the dampish side but still usable and with the warmer weather approaching should soon dry out to avoid needing replacement. If anyone finds a pen along the way it is the one that the Adder lost somewhere.

came up on the map as we were travelling around.
It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 104 and 76 (yep thats 1411 for the 8 days)
1062 micro, 238 small, 60 Regular, 45 large, 3 Virtual and 3 Other.

Day 5
With the big trail finished we headed north to Moonta so I could grab the Virtual. From there our plans were to hit the Letterbox series and to grab some others around the traps while heading to Tarlee. With only 66 grabs today it felt more like holiday time with some great caches mixed in.

Found with FUF009.
Today we left the Peninsula and headed to Tarlee.
We visited many small towns along the way and the change of scenery was refreshing.
Initially the plan today was to finish off the Gone Fishn' series but we did that yesterday, so the plans opened up to branch out to Moonta so FUF009 could nab the virtual (I had already done it).
The only real goal was the Mail Run Letterbox series and the A seat for Janet virtual.
All the other caches were lovely to be able to find in our leisure.
Today was my favorite day so far. 65 caches found and nice to be able to take the side roads and dirt tracks.
South Australia is pretty neat!

Now there is a random type of container - thought there was no cache at the base of the tree and then as we looked around there was this piece of seemingly rubbish - yep it was the cache!
Did he eat a raw egg every morning for a hangover cure?
Thanks M's Piggy (Babe).

Day 1 of our girl's adventure and Gral4 and I had headed to Port Wakefield for some planetary pursuit caching.
We checked into the Port Wakefield Motel for the night, whoose owner has an interesting name - Laxmee. On the phone I thought it was Lakshmi - the name of the Hindu Goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity so I was disappointed as I never got to meet her during our short visit.
We had a great time and saw many interesting things, including a big unidentified dead bird wrapped in blue plastic at one of the letterbox hides, a number of big chicken farms where all the houses were orientated to the west, we completed the letter box series bar one DNF, did a bit of 4x4 driving, I dropped some TB's, saw a lovely sunset followed by an amazing almost full moon rising in the night sky.
Then we headed to the Rising Sun Hotel in Port Wakefield and enjoyed a lovely dinner before retiring to our motel for the night.
TFTC M's Piggy (Babe) , done while out letter boxing! Interesting container but very appropriate with the nearby establishments!

On our way with caching buddy Ismartis to Port Wakefield for a couple of days to earn points for the planetary pursuit souvenirs. Had a great day with only one DNF, lots of letterbox finds, plus a few others, a bit of 4x4, night caching, a beautiful moon, finishing off with a nice meal at the pub. Then to the motel recoup and plan for day two

A couple of days of geocaching with Aussie M & M. As normal we laughed, we tried hard not to hurt ourselves and only replaced or repaired about 6 geocaches. Apologies for the generic logs but it was a big couple of days.
Luckily I had Mr M to explain this one to me, It made no sense until then.
Thanks to M's Piggy (Babe) from mogni
