I love finding archived caches and have had this one in my sights for quite a while now but have not made the time to come and find it. So today I came after finding a couple of caches and labs further down the road. Very exciting to see the well guarded cache sitting waiting. It is in great condition - actually a great deal better than several of the active ones around. TFTC # 17,630

*Having re-found the Tahr on a jar back in Apr '16 when I popped down with my cloak of invisibility to find the well hidden cache at the hint place, lower level, while the real workers were busy down the hill. The cache was still there today and was in fine fettle and I have returned it to it's rocky hide since there has been no more disturbance to the GZ from the construction zone and access was not restricted to the lookout other than someone had knocked over the sign. The couches are gone and the area is somewhat tidier than the first time I went there.* Dday___Found 12 Dec 15 Could've taken the easy way down to GZ but oh no had to take a leap of faith lol. Almost like the little Tahr mounted on top of cache, that was so cute! There were more lounge suites than an IKEA store tipped down there and yes, there were lots of bottle too. I CITO'd my share of tins, did you? [Image](https://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/d429b964-73e6-4d67-a6f0-e2eb0d47ec49.jpg)

Thanks so much! This was a nice little find to get after coming back for the second time. It was good to find the little container!

28-Jun-18
Last one for the night and while the new bridge looks like it's coming along swimmingly, nothing further has been done to the lookout other than some trees have been trimmed to improve the view. Took the easiest path down to the GZ and searched in the hidey holy. Found a precious looking Tahr on a jar and I SL. TFTC

Although this cache has been archived, the logs gave us the impression it was still in place, so we thought we'd have a look, but failed to find anything. A great view of both the old and new bridges from this location, which seems undisturbed by the works. TFTC

A nice place to sit for a while.
Thanks for the cache wandercat

06-Mar-16
Visited today. Area altered. couches gone. New power pole and earth works nearby. No sign of cache.

06-Mar-16
Owner, Wandercat visited today with ajbenn. It appears as if the cache site is now part of the construction site for a new bridge over the Kauwera River. There is no sign of the cache container. The couches have been removed, a new power line installed and sustantial earthworks are being under taken. The lookout sign has been removed and there is no longer any parking above or below the cache site. Sometimes a good site turns bad!

19-Jan-16
A lovely view one way and all the construction the other way. Definitely need mountain goats legs for this one. TFTC:)

16-Jan-16
Thoroughly enjoyed the walk along the lake, over the bridge and up to find this cache. Nice views from this spot. Thanks very much for placing this one. I'd never have ventured up there otherwise.

14-Jan-16
Down again after the drive on the Cadrona road from Wanaka. Thanks

13-Jan-16
Nice outlook spoilt by empty bottles and discarded sofas. The blue goat is a nice touch! TFTC.

11-Jan-16
Second time lucky with this one. Although I was in a rush the last time I looked for it. But was an easy find when ya not rushing. Great view to sit and watch but not today as the sun is way to hot and my head is already very burnt. TFTC ☺

11-Jan-16
The trees are being cleared on the river bank, presumably in preparation for the new bridge construction.

09-Jan-16
Ideal play area for goats, one started to look at the view wonder the other clip-clopped down the rocks to grab this one. That new building to the left is certainly an eyesore, tftc

09-Jan-16
Great spot to watch the horrendous traffic congestion on bridge!

13-Dec-15
For some reason I'm bad at reading all the notes, so started this one by attempting to walk there from across the bridge. After realising my mistake, started again from the top of the hill. Looks like someone has had a party up there with beer bottles, and 2 sofas being in the vicinity of the cache

10-Dec-15
from Finland. Sadly a lot rubbish and broken glass. Got a cut in the hand.

08-Dec-15
We walked up from Queenstown, a lovely walk, then spotted the track and off to GZ Great views, spoiled by some old dumped sofas and some broken glass. But a good hiding place that was eventually spotted by Maria

06-Dec-15
Having walked to the cache on the other side of the bridge decided to see if I could find a way to this one from the bottom, very pleased to spot a track heading up.

Cool view from this cache. Even a sofa there so we could cache in style. Couldn`t get a hot chocolate which was disappointing. Had to mark you down for that sorry Smile

We missed this cache yesterday when driving into Queensland and therefore passed by today. A great lookout and funny for us, it would never be like that in Switzerland. The cache was quickly found and log signed. TFTC

Found while out and about during a family trip to attend our son's wedding. Beautiful sunny day today TFTC.

Made this harder than necessary for myself by not reading the description in advance.

Having just flown in, we picked up our hire car and headed down here after collecting a few necessities from the supermarket. We parked just over the bridge and walked up the track, not realising there was a shorter access from above. However, the view that emerged at the lookout was well worth the extra few minutes of walking up the track.

The amazing rock faces around Queenstown make ideal cache hides and this one was as good as any. Thanks for bringing us here.

Unfortunately there's a lot of garbage around this cache, but otherwise the view is great. Really nice cache container, too! The goat really belongs here!

Finally found it after a hunt around Tftc

Following on from a very busy caching weekend and having gone home, only to turn around the next morning and fly to Dunedin for a few days with our local rep this was an opportunity to collect a few caches that I required for a couple of personal challenges that I had set myself.
Last evening in Queenstown so thought to grab a few of the local caches that I had not collected yet while working my way out to arrow town.
Nice quick stop here and no problems

thanks for the cache, thanks for the placement

[green]Find #7121[/green]... Cool

Found this with Tomboy 711 whilst travelling around your beautiful country en route to the New Zealand Mega... Big Grin

A beautiful day to be out and about in this beautiful area we grab some smilies and the NZ Souvenir for Tomboy... I apologize for the generic logs - It no way detracts from my enjoyment and the efforts gone to by the CO's... Cool

A short search, found the cache, stamped and returned... Cool

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for my enjoyment wandercat... Big Grin

Greetings from West Sacramento, California! Papa EGTH and I are on Day 9 of our 19-day New Zealand honeymoon. We've been caching our way around the country and today found us just hanging around the greater Queenstown area on a resting day. Tomorrow we set off for Invercargill with a detour out to Milford Sound.

I consulted the hint and went down on one side, which was rather precarious and gave the niches a quick search. Nothing. I went back up and around to the other side and found a much easier way down. A few more niches later and I found the nicely camoed cache tucked well away. Thanks!

HockeyHiker19 and I were on day 9 of our geocaching honeymoon in New Zealand. We were on the way back into Queenstown and HockeyHiker19 asked me to pull over so she could get some photos and go after this cache. We figured out the way to GZ and she eventually made the find.

16-Oct-15
We made our way up to this lookout and GrimRaider got some good shots of the river and old bridge. I took the goat climb to gz before finding a safer path. Nice little cache and all in good condition. TFTC Smile

Was hoping this would be a quick stop and sign but instead it had me across the road an up the hill. Mrs SC was not happy that it took longer than we had hoped as we have lots of miles to do today.

03-Sep-15
What a dreadful day.. I busted to the airport. And then walked to... well I had hoped it would get me to the cache by the turbine and bridge. I searched this for some time. But had no luck.. so I walked on over the bridge and up the little track to the old couches. And the expensive view! I searched here under the ledge of the rock. See photo. ( and delete). And I could not find anything!..
So I drudged back down and all the way back to airport to catch bus back into Queenstown.. what a wasted morning!!!I guess the cache is still there????

Quick find while on trip to the area, dropped off TB and picked one up.

30-Apr-15
Flew in from Brisneyland on a secret mission... Shhh!!!

Ensconced in the nearby Hilton overnight and up (fairly) early for a brisk walk up the hill to GZ. Loving the fresh air and lack of humidity. I could live here! I even ski!

I kept a keen lookout for the snakes that don't exist here. It's habit, eh? Tramped The geotrail after taking a few pics and gulps of fresh mountain air. Spotted the appropriately-camoed cache in its hidey hole. NZ souvenir in the bag Smile

Then a downhill walk back to the coffee shop near the jetty. There was a free diver and friend doing timed dives in the clear lake waters off the jetty. Bliss!

Dropped off my shiny new TB Sandy ~ Australia's War Horse. Safe travels but , please, only in NZ and Aus.

A FAVE point for the beautiful view and my first cache in NZ. Good of you to place a comfy couch at the lookout for our viewing pleasure Razz

TFTC wandercat!

Wandered down the track and saw an obvious geotrail so followed that then with a little bit of searching/scrambling found the cache.

Signed the log,TNLN, then took a few piccies of the bridge which does look great from here. This spot certainly is goat country.

Thanks for the placement which bought me to this great view.
