Got nicely to the island, climbed over the rocks too and there you are. What a place!Had to crawl a bit to retrieve the cache, but succeeded nicely. Thanks!
And this one we got. The tide was pretty low, so no problems. Thanks for the adventure!
I'm down from Paihia for the Dunedin Mega event. We did a lot of caching around there. Our plan was then to come down to Invercargill to get the geoart here, find some other puzzles, visit Bluff and Slope Point. We'll then head north to Middlemarch and up to Christchurch.Todays plan was this I, the Winton W (not all solved yet) and the penguin jigsaws. We ended up finishing early so headed out to Clifden to see the old swing bridge and did a round trip via Monkey Island. Very pleased to get the old Donovan caches. The nearby 2001 virtual was an extra today and I was thrilled we had time to get out here and visit it. Lucky for us the tide was out so we could wander over to the island and score this trad as well as the virtual. I love these tidal island caches. Funny to think of a town out here with stores and a hotel. Thanks for the cache and the Interesting description
Found with MummyPenny at this evening's low tide. A lovely spot at dusk. Thanks rockr01.
We stayed here overnight but the tide was too high this morning. Went to Gemstone Beach then came back and put our wetsuits on. Didnt actually need them for the knee deep paddle but it was touch and go . Thank you x
Found with Kiwimykl while on our southern adventure. Refer to his log for details.TFTC rockr01
After alot of searching we had to bail to beat the tide. Def gutted as would have love to have logged this one
Looked everywhere we could and nothing. Army crawled under the boardwalk and still nothing. Walked down the path to the rocks and nothing. Best of luck to you if its still there.
Oops, accidentally logged the wrong cache as found. Didnt see this one after a quick search. Muggles prevented a longer search.
What a nice beach in this quiet southland area, but the cache was nowhere to found.
Searched for a good 25 minutes and couldnt find. Too many different places to look frustrating to leave this seeing the last couple logs talking about how easy and quick it was Thanks anyway!
Both of us looked for about 20 mins but could not locate. Looked under the structure 2x from both ends. Then went downhill to GZ amongst the bushes. No cache found.
We had to dash the tide coming in to get to the island. Quick find though not where we expected. Returned as per hint. Nice little adventure. Have an FP
Out and about finding caches in the wider Riverton area, some solved puzzles and a mix of other types.
Thank you for the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Main objective today again was logging solved puzzle caches and anything else on the way. It was a great day with even the tide cooperating. TFTC
I do love a little nugget island. We were here at the perfect time tide-wise so came across, found the cache, then skedaddled back as the tide raced the rain clouds to the area. Thanks for the cache, rockr01!
Day 9 and we are continuing our journey around the South Island. Today we were heading to Te Anu. We arrived at the right time but shows and socks were taken off to get to this one. An awesome spot and perfect place for a hide. TFTC and bring us here
We came to see Monkey Island, do this cache, the virtual & a stage of the AdLab. Ended up camping for the night as it was so lovely here. There were a couple of muggles dolphin watching as we arrived, so we watched with them for a while. Saw a fair few dolphins out there, quite close to shore. Once on our own we had a quick search for the cache, which we found easily & quickly replaced before some more muggles arrived. A great place for a cache, deserves a favourite point for the location for sure. Thanks.
This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time it's again a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Arrived in the furthest South, I made an excursion to Monkey-Island and to the Clifden Bridge, to collect two more precious 'Oldies' [:X] of the South Island .
On the way, I made some nice finds .
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today - right at Monkey Island. Cool! [^]
Had to wait until many muggles [xx(] had cleared the place - but then: Success!
Great hide! [^]
A big thanks to the owner rockr01 [:X] for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Got to the beach nearly two hours after low tide, watched some swimmers wade across. Figured at least the tide was on the way out so decided to wade across. Over knee deep in places but worth it for the view. TFTC
Spending the day on the beach, I was sure to have low tide at some moment. What an amazing views! TFTC!
Te Anau to Bluff was the aiming for today and I found some good maintained caches.
Many of them with a good view.
Thanks.
Was not so easy.

I have RedCo5 staying with me in my snail shell for a few days over the summer holidays. She enjoys caching and normally can log more than me.
We decided to head west form Invercargill today going to a few touristy spots where there are caches as well..
Luckily it was low tide when we got here. We managed to find a space to park the cachemobile. Then it was a hike over the rocks and then up the steps. Not too shabby for someone with gammy knees. Took a little while to locate the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Amazing place, we were lucky when we arrived it was low tide. The box is nicely hidden, but unfortunately it was full of water inside, the logbook is moldy and cannot be entered.Greetings from the Czech Republic and Thanks For This Cache.

Managed to time it right so it was close to low tide so no wet feet, beautiful day but windy, quick find once up the top, tftc
A little Saturday expedition to see where caching takes us! Nice to revisit and at low tide, too! TFTC!!
We were here earlier this morning, and decided we'd do some caching and come back here to camp, so that we could visit monkey Island at low tide.
Lots of muggles taking the opportunity to come here as well, so we had to wait them out before starting the search.
It was soon found and replaced before anyone else came.
Thanks for putting this in such a cool spot.

Sorry for the late log, Just finished an epic Deep South Roadie and this was one of the favourites along the way. Great day exploring the area with my son and his GF.
Neat spot tides were right, a couple of dogs befriended me and came for the walk. I had a few control your dogs looks and there were muggles about so I couldn't do the stealth search. So decided to give this one a miss. But thanks for getting me here.
Once on the platform, we decided there must be a cache here. And there was. Two of us abandoned the search to go play on the rocks and explore more. I found it. It is as per hint, really nicely hidden and protected from rain and wind. Both container and logbook are in good condition. Thanks for placing this here.
For once we managed to time our visit to be just before low tide, instead of getting the usual view of an actual island. After wandering out and climbing to the lookout, it took a wee while to discover the nicely hidden cache. Found with markhnz, hayleyhnz, hannahhnz and hollyhnz, and a favourite from us. TFTC
We were here at low tide so that we could collect some stones from Gemstone Beach, so we were also able to walk out to the island.
Found the cache after a small amount of searching.
Nice hide.
Thanks.

Finally logging this one online, having signed the log here 18 months ago. Thanks for the hide and for taking me to this spot.
FOUND 26 Jan 2022 - Down on a roadie with Itcyfeet2020, chasing PWGTs and a few "special" caches. We couldn't believe it as we passed thru the area .... the tide was completely out, we thought it was going to be too high for us to attempt. Did we have time to squeeze it in on our way to catch our flight home - YES!!! The hardest part was to find where the path started, one of us took the easy way and the other the more challenging way lol. The cache a great hide. What a neat unexpected adventure. A fav from me.
On the last day (day 5) of our Rima PW tour, with Justlooking00. Today is Invercargill out to Clifden, back along the coast and airport this afternoon. While the last three PW's and two oldies were the main focus of the day, there was just time to do the Ad Lab and this one. We totally fluked the tides, with our timing being driven by rental car and flights. But we got super lucky and was able to get across and up. Great fun find and the surprise bonus for us today. TFTC on a great little spot of NZ. FAV given.
Out and about with wombat_4 and TDronsfield for a day of caching . Gps a little out but widen our search. Cute cache tftc
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we were parked up in Tuatapere & were visiting a couple of nearby locations … fascinating history in & around this area … timed it with the tide just right … there were a number of Motorhomes parked up but there weren’t many people down on the beach … easy climb up to the top & cache easily found, completed & safely returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,017 for us.

Last time I was here with Tuolei we had our times all wrong and it was high tide so couldn't get out to the island. This time I checked to ensure they were right as part of planning the trip, so no problem this time. A nice view from up here but that also attracted others so we had to wait a while until the coast was clear and we could start to search.
It took a few minutes to find and was just putting it back together when the next couple arrived, so another wait before getting it back in place. TFTC, fantastic view of the coast from here.

We are slowly heading back home after finishing the hump ridge track , picking up few caches on the way. It was an incredible three days of pure magic. Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
We came here originally to do the virtual cache as we had no idea how the tide is going to be. Some how we proved to be very lucky and tide was on our side. We had to tackle several muggles while looking for this cache and it took little bit longer than we expected. After some baby crawling, found it safe an sound in its hiding spot.. TFTC

Being unsteady on my feet and getting older I'm not prepared to go scrambling around too much with such steep cliffs all around. Made a decision when I started geocaching not to take risks that could be dangerous or life threatening after falling head first down some rocks.
We had managed the tides just right, so it was a dry walk out to the island on a lovely day. Lots of muggles about, including an interesting local who gave us a bit of history of the area and pointed out the landmarks, which made it more interesting. However, it meant we had to wait quite a while to search. A break in the muggles was just long enough to grab, sign and leave. Thanks for placing this.
Luckily the tides were in our favour! Shame about the wind! Found with Conbat. TFTC!
Found on 22/07/2021.
A bit of Lockdown updating...
Down on the South Coast for a tramp, collecting caches along the way.
Tide was out this tie to grab the cache.

I had heard about this place and the last person showed me a photo of himself hardly standing up with strong winds buffeting him. Today is calm as. Thanks for the placement rockr01
arrived just as the tide had started to come in so had to strip off the shoes and wade over to the rocks. lucky it was a quick find at gz. back to mainland without getting too wet. tftc
I have a weeks work in Invercargill. But what to do in the evenings? Today it was a drive west grabbing caches. Got as far as Clifden then turned back. This one brought back a few memories as visited lots as a kid. Today able to paddle out to the island and view the lookout. Cache quickly located and signed and replaced. Thanks for the cache.
With a bit of random planning I managed to arrive here right on low tide today, and it was an easy walk in street shoes across hard sand to get to the island. The cache was quite well hidden and I had to hunt about a bit for it, but otherwise no problems and it is in good condition. I enjoyed this one - signed log, thanks for the experience and it’s worth a favourite point
#9052. After attending a hui at nearby Colac Bay we finished up at 5pm and so I had a few hours to spare before nightfall. I had attempted Monkey Island back in 2017 but had to log a DNF after two carloads of muggles followed us out there and then stayed on the platform for over half an hour after sunset taking photos. Had to flag it away reluctantly.
Today the tide was perfect for the second attempt. It was low in the evening and so no problems accessing the island. But it seemed history would repeat as four muggles started walking out to the island as soon as I headed down onto the beach. Oh no. Surely not. But yes they went up onto the platform and started chatting and taking photos. I was about to burst into tears when they finally decided to head off down the steps and leave me alone. Yay. I spent a few minutes looking for the cache but a tip from a previous finder really narrowed down the hiding spot so it was soon in hand. Signed the logbook at last after 3-4 years waiting and replaced the cache where found. So pleased to convert this blue face to a smiling one. Thanks rockr01 for hiding it here.

23 January 2021 15.03. Number 9110. There was water , but I decided to chance it anyway as we reckoned the tide was going out. I left my shoes and socks, and channelling my inner BFG went across with bare feet and rolled up trousers.
Took a bit of ducking and wriggling before I spotted it! It is there there, as the hint describes.
Tftc, was very glad to head back to dry land afterwards.

Favourite given for bringing us here, especially for the view over the bay. It must be absolutely amazing on a crisp blue sky went to stay with the mountains covered in snow. The cliff faces are impressive.
Infoferret did the wading and climbing while I looked after her all important special geocaching sneakers. Having a short trip from Invercargill to Christchurch with Infoferret finding lots of caches, in particular the TMGT caches for me.
The cache may be signed with our individual names or ‘IE’.
Many TFTC.

Driving to Invercargill today, caching on the way.
This is a special place. Thank goodness the tide was low. Below knee deep.
Took me quite some time crawling around before I got in the right place to spot the cache. Nice hide.

Cache 460 was heading to Gemstone beach to find some rocks and I thought I’d chance upon these caches, heaps of people here today but none on the island now I know why when I waded across the water only came 1/2 way up my shins, I was only on the island 10 mins signing the log and taking in the views and when I came back across it was up to my crotch...... that came up fast but hey it’s another one of the list, cache is in great shape Rock bug added to cache T4TC
Had timed my arrival for low tide and it was a fine day. Such a lovely spot to take a break from driving and head over to the island. Took a bit of hunting (luckily no muggles while we were on the island) and almost gave us, but then looked through and spotted it. Reached round and cache was in hand. Very sneaky hide. TFTC.
Although I got there and the view was magnificent, muggles prevented me from searching for the cache but thanks for taking me here
Called to get the visual and saw a low tide so off for the walk to get this one. I was last over the rocks but got there in time to see Mr p&vee find the cache. Found with Mr and MRS VDH56.
Fun fun fun. It took a few goes with the gumies to time the two wave actions and find the low spot but I just managed to keep dry gummies and get over to the island. Cheers
[#1342 | 15:10] I couldn't miss this island and the cache while staying in the nearby campsite. I was lucky to come in the right moment so I just had a little wet legs
Thanks & greetings from the Czechs!
