Hunted around for quite a while, found nothing. Last find was 18 months ago and we've had a few 'water events' since then. Is this cache still active & in place?

25-Oct-22
M24: me and m13 got dropped off at the reserve to see if we could find one of the two caches to extend our caching streak to 14 days. We were a bit unlucky on the waterworks one, so we headed on over to this cache, hoping for better luck at finding it. Approaching GZ, we could see where we needed to go, however, GPS acted up so we used our Geosenses to see if we could find it. After about 8-10 mins, m13 found the cache in his sight. WHOO-HOO! Nice cache find, log is in good and dry condition. TFTC.

23-Jul-22
Your right, it wouldn't be easy and it wasn't easy, too hard for me......

Last cache for today. Took me way too long to find. Reluctantly I got in and the mosquitos ate me. Arghh Sad=)
I spent lots of time examining a big tree with lots of empty, but suitable hiding places, then Alpenmilchs log about it being very slippery lead me on an even wronger trail. Twice I was about to give up, but went back inside and when I decided to stick closer to the hint, I found it. All nice and dry here.
FP not for the mosquitos, but for the camo and for taking me here.

A few friends were keen to get our fitness up for a big hike coming up. Did not expect to go caching today but I really should have known better since I was going with Keylev! We were getting these caches for me whether I wanted to or not, and you know what, I ain't complaining!

This was an easy first to the start of this trail. TFTC

Awesome hide!! Took us a bit of a while, but worth it!

#317

Had done a huge walk from our home in Howick to the Mangemangeroa entrance at Hayley Lane and back home again (good 3hr walk!) and had decided to find some caches on the way to gather some more ‘Reach the Peak’ points.
Two of the three of us set off a short way into the bush and searched in a few spots before I spotted the nicely camo’ed cache and shouted ‘here it is!’ When my teammate came over and soon spotted it too.
Logbook in good condition, replaced where it was found - nicely done!

Out for a walk today with a few other team SEAC members whom had found these caches on another vist.....Had just missed a massive down pour of rain, which we later discovered was the edge of a mini tornado that swept through Papatoetoe/Manukau....luckily missing us.....
With the rain clearing to reveal an awesome day for a tramp/walk and to clear up the caches along this trail.....

A little searching, then found by Mrs stik-a-crane.

TFTC.

Searched around for a fair bit of time, but the discarded toilet paper ended our search.

Will keep an eye out if it’s found again!

11-Oct-20
Out on a walk with some of Team SEAC enjoying the weather and getting our fitness up for a planned Tongariro Crossing next year.

Am sure I have tried to find this cache a long time ago with no luck. Thankfully today Mrs NZTravellers had her eyes turned on and it was soon in hand.

Thanks for the cache.

11-Oct-20
Some member of Team SEAC are in training for the Tongariro Crossing and were organising outings around hikes in order to prepare for the trip. This was one of those hikes, a 10km return walk from Point View Drive to Shelly Beach and back. Of course, you can't just do the walk and not grab a few caches that are on offer along the way.

We got to GZ and started searching around. Three guys were busy looking in all these different places around GZ. Then one of the ladies comes in goes straight to the cache and says "Here it is." at which all the guys sigh. The inevitable comments were made about bloke looks.

Found whilst out with Team SEAC.

Thanks for the cache.

11-Oct-20
Out with some of TEAM SEAC doing some training walks in preperation for doing the Tongariro crossing. The GPS's were jumping around a little so the search was taking a little longer than it should have. Then Mrs NZT comes to help and almost straight away pipes up "here it is". This was followed by the inevitable boys looks vs girls looks type of comments. The log was a complete sodden mess and there is water in the container. We replaced the log and then signed it. TFTC.

Had been here before with no luck. Back today, initially found the water works, so continued along to here. A recent photo in the gallery helped, but after a few minutes still nothing. Phone GPS wasn't much help. Tried the other side of the path, found a way off the track into the undergrowth that opened up nicely, and now there were a few places that looked likely. Spent a few minutes wandering about looking, easier terrain to navigate than the other side, and found after a while. Finally. Log paper is mush. But otherwise, a fun afternoon going off the trail in places. TFTC

18-Mar-20
Had a good idea of what I would be looking for, based on prior experience and previous logs, but spent a good half hour, with no luck.

18-Jan-20
Took a while to track this one down as we were looking in slightly wrong area. Log just mush, so photo attached as proof. Tftc.

Very clever! The kids loved the search but Tanya ultimately found it. Fabulous walking track for the kids.

Log book is damp. Yy

09-Oct-18
My Geolad and myself have been visiting Auckland together for the first time in 10 months, and today was our last day before he flies back home so wanted to do something we hadn't done before, so ended up walking the Mangemangeroa Walkway.

It was a lovely day, and a very pleasant walk to GZ. Once there, it only took us a couple of minutes of searching around before we found it hidden away. Not quite sure of the relevance of the Hint, but we were happy enough with the find although the logsheet is completely soaked and wasn't able to be signed.
I have attached a photo as proof of our find today.

Thank you for placing this cache.

Out walking along this pathway today collecting the caches and getting very muddy too. After reading the hint we definately knew what we were looking for.did notice something at first but this turned out to be a decoy and then as good as the cameo was we spotted it.couldnt sign the log as it was sodden have drained all the water out but unfortunately we think this will happen again the next time it rains.

13-Jan-18
We signed the log meetup. Meet Sophia (yorkshirekiwi83) at the meetup GZ , and were joined by 2 newbies wanting to know more about geocaching. It was a hot day and my new camelbak was defiantly handy. Its actually a nice walkway, and I enjoyed walking it and grabbing caches.

Just to hot and tired to look - next time Smile

20-Nov-17
Out for a walk with gc. Quick find but log and contents too wet to sign. Tftc

11-Nov-17
My daughter high5zoe quickly found this well camo cache. Well done to her. Unfortunately the log is wet as cache has water in it. So photo log. Tftc

16-Jul-17
In the area to run an errand and decided to collect some geocaches and get some walking in. Not easy to get to GZ due to some slips but managed it. Was an easy find at GZ as the rain washed the container out. Needs some TLC. TFTC

21-Feb-17
Why did it take so long to find? I don't really know but got it in the end. TFTC

Clever little cache in a gorgeous spot. Thanks! Very Happy

Took advantage of the fine weather before it gets to hot. Once we entered the correct part of the bush it was a quick find. Thank you.

A good day collecting caches while Granny helps with two week old grandson who lives nearby. This one took me a while even though I had a pretty good idea what I was looking for. A well made cache. Thanks.

We decided we wood know what to look for and sure enough, I walked straight to it.

10-Sep-16
Nice easy find not far off the track TFTC

05-Sep-16
Having previously visited the top of the track on Saturday Morning, and as today is my day off, I decided to return to the Mangemangeroa Walkway to pick up a few of the caches that are on the map. So after parking at the top, I made my way down onto the track under the watchful eyes of local puckeko, sheep, and alpaca. I am very familiar with the track as I run here often, (in fact I think it is one of East Auckland's best kept secrets) but it was only on Saturday that I became aware that there were caches here. Anyway, after making my way to the provided coordinates for this cache, I simply followed your provided instructions and soon had the cache in hand. I had a potentially awkward moment as when I was signing the log book a muggle came walking on the track. But thanks to my camouflage skills, he had no idea that I was watching him. Anyway, I signed the log, put it back, and was on my way. I loved the creativity of this log! Well done! Thank you for bringing me back to a place that I really enjoy. Smile

21-Aug-16
The wood was out in the open when this one was found. Not too sure if it is in the correct position? TFTC.

05-Jun-16
After an initial search in the wrong area our GPS settled down and led us to its hiding spot. Fantastic camo, even with part of it missing. The log was very damp and disintegrating so we replaced it with a fresh dry one. TFTC

15-May-16
Got stuck on this one and the young ones were getting grumpy so we moved on.

25-Mar-16
Found it!

20-Mar-16
Easily spotted with half the camo gone. Remaining camo looks good. Tftc

We are staying with friends in Auckland towards the end of our Northland holiday. The kids are were content to puddle at home today so I headed out to do the Mangemangeroa walk. TNLN SL TFTC!

30-Dec-15
Most of the camo has rotted away. Little easier to find now. Will replace disguise when I find suitable article

16-Dec-15
What a crafty created cache container. Good location, good camo. Thanks for bringing us here.

15-Nov-15
This one took me far longer than it should have, tricky little thing. Just as I was about to give up a noticed something slightly not right next to where my kids had been playing, and they hadn't even noticed lol! I guess their geocaching skills need refining! TFTC!

11-Nov-15
I had a few hours to spare this morning before I had to head to the airport and home. I decided to try and walk the Mangemangeroa walkway from here as far as the R2D2 cache and back. It took me a bit less than 3 hours car to car and I really enjoyed the variety of caches I found along the way. This one took a bit of a search to find. A nicely camo'd cache and one I was eventually relieved to spot. TFTC, Biggles.

18-Oct-15
Smile Found with Mrs McMike2012 ... we had picked up a couple of caches on our way over to the Mangemangeroa Walkway ... we had been down here sometime ago but had missed a few caches due to the number of 'muggles' walking the track ... we thought that it was time to have a wander down here again & see what we could find ... this was the 3rd of 4 down here today ... it was all clear with very few 'muggles' around today, what with it being cool & overcast ... cache was located after a bit of looking around, soon signed & returned ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... that was #1,056 for us.

04-Oct-15
Mr beconaze veered off the track and quite quickly had this clever cache in hand. Nice camo

27-Sep-15
Absolutely had enough of being in town so headed for a nice walkway. Thanks for placing caches along here.

23-Aug-15
Fun find and excellent disguise. Didn't have a writing stick so will be coming back to fill it in Smile

The time spent on this cache was well worth it. Had us stumped for awhile Smile

TFTC. Out with pricefamily6 exploring the mangemangeroa. This one had us scratching our heads for a while. Very good hide well done.

15-Jul-15
Out with Biartch79 and Drulisa, doing some caches along the Mangemangeroa track
Found by drulisa- who went a bit further than me and Biartch79, and realised she had found it only once she had put her hand on it! TFTC

15-Jul-15
After a search it was spotted by Drulisa while Newlynfam & I were still checking out the gps reading lol. Tftc

Cache quickly spotted at GZ as coords were bang on for us. A nicely crafted hide. Our pen decided it didnt want to work anymore so we took a photo of the cache should you wish to check on our attendance, TFTC! Big Grin

07-Dec-14
Well done on a cleverly crafted cache, soon had it located after a wee search, log was a bit damp but still signable, many thanks for the hide.

22-Nov-14
Looked around for a while before we thought to re-check the gps. Sure enough it led us several meters away and we finally found it! Cool camo Smile

22-Nov-14
Took a while to figure out which side but soon found it. Log and cache is quite wet. Tftc Smile

16-Oct-14
Love this type of cache container! I too have one of these - upright, in bamboo. So I appreciate the work you put into this. A fav from me for YOUR effort.

13-Sep-14
Nice easy find once the gps settled down. TFTC

07-Sep-14
Yahoo! thank goodness for one find today! TFTC

22-Aug-14
After finishing up work down south this afternoon I decided that some caching was in order. In with the great sunny if cool weather a trip into the country and along the coast seemed just the ticket. I was not wrong and was rewarded with some great views today. I took a few minutes to find the cache with all the potential options at GZ. Coords were very good. Nice effort on the camo. Cache is getting a little grubby and may start letting water in soon. Cheers for the cache placement!

17-Aug-14
Out for some fresh air and a leg-stretch. Always a favourite local bush & beach walk along here. Cunning camo but a rummage around had the goods in hand. T4TC

09-Aug-14
Second find of the day and another great hide. Thank goodness for the pencil we forgot to bring one! TFTC Smile

21-Jun-14
Did my duties in the house first before heading out on the trail to find a few caches.
Nice trail, one of my favourites in the area for a morning run (will be back tomorrow morning)
Quick find. Nice hide.
Cap is coming off easy - you might want to replace this.

21-Jun-14
Co-ords bang on. Seen a few of this type of cache container lately so not to hard to find. TFTC

14-Jun-14
This took a bit of looking for, but I was fairly confident I knew what I was looking for and eventually came up with the goods.

A quick find this time - my geosenses must have been primed by the previous find. Great concealment! Might need a bit more glue in the lid, though, as this came out of the end piece. The new cachers with me were impressed by the concealment; I can see this one taking forever to find without the hint.

Too small to add any tradeables so we all signed log and hid it back in the original place. Another fav point from me for making the find memorable.

18-May-14
Needed to get out of the house and have a little walk, this looked like a good place as any to walk.

Realised once I got to GZ this was a cache that had been discussed at a recent event I had attended. Took the advice I remembered and actually quickly found the cache, was in the obvious spot. My GPS put me 17m away, if this helps anyone.

It is a favouite for me as well. Thanks for the cache

Nope not easy for us today 3rd dnf Sad. Gz was showing as on the path which we knew from description was wrong. Looked one side and there were thorns etc so checked out the other side which seemed more child friendly but couldn't find it today.

09-May-14
We found GPS jumped a bit given the location when we placed this. The cache is off the track (less than 10m) and quite 'safe'. Our five year old can easily access it. Smile

09-May-14
Tried this one yesterday but didn't have enough time for heaps of bush whacking. Came back today with a bit more info and soon found it. Nice camo.

TFTC.

03-May-14
Walked to GZ and knew this wood'nt be easy for us since our gps always struggles in this type of environment. Checked a few spots, before coming up with the goods. Phew. Nice camo, however lid has something sticky on it. TFTC Big Grin

The coordinates pointed somewhere that was definitely not kid friendly (thorns etc) so widened the search area a little and found it shortly thereafter. Nice one.

This came up on my mobile driving home and with a dismal effort at our first international cache in Fiji week I had to check this out. A short detour and was parked. Found GZ but the co ordinates I believe are about 10 meters out. The description said ideal for kids so in the pitch black with only my cell phone light I eventually found it. Our very FIRST FTF. Great camo and yes kids will love it. TFTC
