After dropping a relative off at the train station I decided for an afternoon of geocaching! This was the first cache I stopped at, parked on the corner and took the short stroll down along the path towards the bridge.
A great spot and old railway bridge, so a bit sad to see the cache in a state of despair despite a couple of maintenance logs this year.
Thanks me_to for showing me this location!

Cache has been logged for a Needs Maintenance twice this year without response.
The cache is broken and is currently just sitting in a plastic baggie.

With the aim of today being a walk not a cache route I was about to give up, then decided to take one more walk along the track. GPS was useless so eyes it was. I think the low sun helped to pick up the slight variation of shade in the x. Cache found. Log is fine but case is broken

Cache is in very bad condition, log sheet found in water, needs some tlc thanks for the thrill rush it seems I'm not as well balanced as I used to be!
Came over this way after the nearby event, and found a couple caches with Joolay and KittyKatch, and watched them find some others I had already found ... then when they headed home I decided I had not quite had enough caching therapy yet - so I came for a couple more ... this one was first, was going to get another nearby but I had left my phone power bank in the car and my phone went flat ... so I decided that maybe it was time to head home, seeing the Sun had set
TFTC - nice little walk in a rather strange and derelict end of the wetlands area ... interesting enough spot that I am not disapointed that I have to come back for the other cache ...
Btw - still needs that maintenance - container is totally smashed.

Took a little time to find the hint, as our Gps taking us to incorrect side, also a new area for me, did not know this area existed, the wonderful thing about caching, so many new places! TFTC
This one had us a bit tossed for a while, looking in all the 'obvious' spots to no avail. Getting s bit tired, I think. Anyway, finally found it, exactly as described, but the container is just about destroyed. I donated a strong zip-lock bag and put the whole thing into it. Replacement urgently needed. TFTC
All this old railway stuff around, some I remember some I don't and a challenge reminiscent of finding a cache on the pic hi-Wichi railway near Quorn in SA, I think I crawled a bit on that one. A slight flutter as a flight of ducks took wing below. Talked to a young bloke going fishing.
What a great place. Easyish find using the clue and then a sit and watch the water in the pond. Thanks me to and charli bear
PS the container is damaged and needs replacing. Thanks again

For someone who is scared of heights, trekking to this cache sure saw my heart rate skyrocket!
Had to pop to the markets so I thought I’d pick up this cache. Walked along the path to see what I had to cross. Not worried about the stability of the structure but having to look down to safely cross made my trek take a while.
Across the other side safely, I reached GZ and after a little search, found the cache. Unfortunately the brittleness of the container has seen it break. Only had a small plastic bag on me so put the cache in that after signing.
Then to overcome my fear again to get back to the geomobile. Across quicker this time but the heart rate was even faster!
A memorable find so a favourite point from me. (edit: I just realised I forgot to log the favourite point!)

Container has caved in (ie broke). Put it in a small plastic bag and returned to where found.
Found it. Thank you. Didn't see the clue until after i found the cache. I suggest you take the cache description literally.
I surprised myself with this one, once I arrived at the bridge I managed to cross it without blinking an eye... normally I am terrified of heights and bridges are usually a no go, but I think my brain ran through all the variables.... Rail Bridge = Super Strong, Gaps between sleepers = less then my tummy.... therefore, no fear whatsoever.
Once at GZ I didnt circle around for about 60 seconds but then I managed to make out the X and the cache was found. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Having found a couple of other caches nearer the airport, I turned my sights to this one. Found the little fellow easily enough, but didn't see the X until I was replacing the cache under torchlight! TFTC!
Headed to GZ after work. Wandered around for a bit until I came across the X. Soon found container. TFTC

My second visit to this spot. For the second time today, it took around 15 minutes searching around without finding anything, then reading past logs, before I eventually spotted the hint, and then the cache. TFTC

As I was in the area with Aquilus1 for another cache, she advised grabbing this one as we passed. Stepping over the tracks in the dark was not as scary as it would be during the day when you can see what's below. However the X marks the spot was a little more tricky to see in the dark until A1 pointed it out. TFTC and showing us a little of the past!!!
Found 11:36 17/4/17 with Aquilus1 after a bit of a search. Thank you me_to for the cache.
Out this morning with Mr windy and this definitely tested us! Still it was a bit of fun with the bridge and clamoring around the tracks. Eventually it was the clue that narrowed it down and the thankful find was made. In hindsight not that hard just a lot of possibilities! Did get to see the train go past as well! Thanks for the cache!
Third time lucky! Actually, I brought Mrs Big Dad with me and she found it. I stayed too close to where my GPS said it was. while she went for a walk further afield and found it. I had the right idea on what to look for, but I was looking for the wrong one. TFTC, me_to and for the find, Mrs Big Dad!
Will add a favourite once I get another one.
Will add a favourite once I get another one.
Tftc. Looked around for a few minutes with Mrs Jaybeem reading previous logs and offering bits of advice over the phone. Soon had cache in hand.
No trains today either this track or the adjacent one. Cache found - where I suspected it should/would be after looking at the similar places, found in last one. Thanks.
Today's caches in this area tested me big time, this one was one of them. Yes there is a obvious X near GZ but that would be too easy, and I was right. This cache requires poking about and lifting a few things, but in the end I found a faint X and sure enough the cache was found, tough. Tftc.

I had just gone to the Fyshwick markets to buy some fresh food and thought that I should get a cache in the area at the same time. I wandered out here and started hunting. And hunting, and hunting...
After a while and reading a few previous logs to get further hints, I had still come up empty. I was using my torch already, even though there was still a bit of daylight, because it was starting to get dark. I'd checked some locations which were fairly close to where my phone's GPSr was pointing me, but they didn't have it. I decided to check some similar locations a bit further away and when I bent down to start looking I saw the very faint remains of the marking that's mentioned in the hint (only because of the way my torch light was reflecting from it). As soon as I saw that I knew I had the location and made quick work of extracting the container.
This cache is very well hidden. I would rate it slightly higher for difficulty. Thanks for the hide, me_to and charli_bear.

Had a really good look but no luck. A bonus was seeing the Sydney to Canberra morning train go past, though!
Find by pnutbeagle and The Marathon Man (Northern Ontario Canada) continuing our vacation in Australia after having spent 4 weeks in New Zealand. Also enjoying the great weather in Australia of 25+°C. We are also away from the -3° C and snow back home in NorthWestern Ontario, Canada.
Another great day of geocaching in New South Wales, Australia. Today we just toured Canberra and met some Ford Model A owners for dinner
We finally found a way to go for this cache before we visited the Train Museum and we were rewarded with a TB to take back to Canada. Pnutbeagle retrieved the TB

I was out in the area and saw this one. Seemed like a bit of fun and a had a few fav points too, so that made it very enticing.
Parked near the tafe and wondered along the creeks edge. A little grungy due to its industrial roots.
Once at the bridge I hopped my way across hoping not to drop my phone or fall in.
A good ten minutes of searching and looking for that elusive clue. Obvious in the end.
Thanks for a fun find.
BTW I always enjoy a cache with a train theme. Taking from other. cho chooooooo.....

After two failures, I came back this morning armed with a very good hint from a friendly cacher (who may or may not want to be named - but you know who you are and thank you! ) and made a quick find.
I am sure I looked there before, but only a quick glance, and had failed to see the posted hint. I can understand why - it is a case of forgiving myself for missing it, while kicking myself for missing it. TFTC

My second failure here. I walked across from the Wetlands having photographed some birds and found the HIJKLMNO cache.
I arrived at the old rail bridge and began searching confidently. As before, I found many Xs - some literal, some lateral. Poked and squeezed, but maybe not enough.
Feeling stumped...

Had to come back and write a note to give this cache a FP - I was using the new Geocaching app and it wouldn't let me add it. Thanks again for this cache - we had lots of fun
GrimRaider and I had to go to Fyshwick so we thought we could pick up a cache or two on the way. Had a lot of fun looking for this one though I am now filthy with dirty hands and hot and sweaty. Took us a while to find but the clue was spot on. Even spotted the old carriage engine going over the bridge Gets a FP from me. Dropped a TB. Thanks for the cache !
#1786 I was out at Fyshwick Markets this morning as my local (EPIC) markets were not running due to the Canberra Show. I took a quick look at the geo-map before I headed out & spied this interesting looking cache. I wasn't sure how to get to it, but it looked like there was at least a walking trail nearby. Luckily, the gate at the eastern-most corner of Mildura St was open & so I slowly drove down to within about 50M of gz. A short wander over the rail bridge brought me to within 5M of gz and the search began. I guess it took about 10 mins to finally spot the X and have the cache in hand. So many likely spots to search.

I had made plans to head out and grab some caches today, however, unfortunately those plans were axed as the result of a nasty migraine all night. So after spending most the day in bed trying to fight the migraine, it was coming up to the evening when I was beginning to feel a lot better. I received a message from one half of the FFLL clan asking if I wanted to go for a drive and grab a couple caches along the way. Of course I said yes
So we had a couple caches planned in the vicinity of where we needed to be and FFLL had done this one previously. Navigating the bridge was interesting, but we eventually got there and it took a little while to locate the cache. Once located, it was signed and replaced and back over the bridge we went.
Thanks for the multi placement me to

Completed a few drive by / short walk caches in the inner south Canberra Region to-day. I was here in May and had a DNF. The hint was not much good for me, after 20 minutes of searching I found the cache and then I found the item in the hint. If it was not for the cache I would never have found the hint!! TFTC.
#3509 -14:15; After an unsuccessful attempt last week right on dusk, I returned today after checking out some options for a new geomobile nearby. Made my way to GZ and after using coords from an earlier log entry, found myself pretty close and made a quick find today. After making the find I now get the hint and realise I shouldn't have perhaps taken is so literally. TFTC me to and charli bear
I knew from reading the logs this one was going to be tricky. I spent a good chunk of time here, some of it searching, some photographing, some looking nonchalant in the face of muggles on push bikes and trail bikes.
I checked lots of places without success. I found plenty of things that matched the hint, but clearly not the right one. Oh well, it was a chance to come to a really interesting place on a glorious spring day - who can argue with that?

This one had me looking for quite a while. I kept going back to the bridge, even though the GPS said not to. I ended up giving up and looking for the other caches and coming back to this one.
On my return visit I had my head on the tracks looking all over and suddenly looked up to a muggle crossing the bridge, staring at me. He simply nodded, passed and said nothing... and I thought it was supposed to be quiet out here.
Anyway, I did eventually find the cache in about the first place I looked, but not hard enough. TFTC me_to.

Found with my grandad on a windy afternoon. We were finding some unfound caches in Fyshwick and the wetlands today. I also wanted to test my injured leg for walking purposes.
We continued our lengthy but enjoyable walk from 'Counting Cars' to this cache. We trudged through the long dry grass in the cold weather and stayed cautious of random holes in the ground. We also crossed a couple of fences. My injured leg was given a workout today!
We walked under the new railway and finally arrived at GZ. Interesting to see such an old bridge! I probably climbed all over it while searching for the cache. We widened our search and I finally spotted the cache - I still don't understand the hint though!
Thanks for taking us to this great location!

The twelfth find of the day while riding around the area. This one was the one I was most worried about. The area was fairly dodgy so I had hoped this would be a quick find so I could get out of there quickly. Once I arrived at GZ, I began my search. There were quite a few spots to search and I was having about as much luck as last time. There were a few people up on the track above doing some work but they didn't take too much notice of me. I sent out a PAF and soon had a good hint and then found the cache shortly after that! Glad to have this one finally ticked off! Log signed and cache replaced. TFTC me_to!
This was a heap of fun! We continued to wander on from other caches nearby, and found ourselves right by the big bridge when the Railway Society's rail motor went over!! Had fun hopping over the lower bridge, then we spent a while looking and looking. It turns out there are two spots that match the hint! Anyway, after looking everywhere including under the bridge, we finally met with success and enjoyed seeing the rail motor go back home and then out again - huge!! Thanks for a hide in an intriguing location.
Found...number 99 for me...hopefully i dont get derailed before my 100th...nice spot for cache tho...tyfc
I was hoping to pick up a nearby puzzle cache, but the GZ was muggle infested, so was the plan B. It was really chilly, so we did not want to spend too long outside the geomobile, so walked quickly, but carefully, to GZ. Was a bit flummoxed, but decided to investigate a particular place and spec, and came up with the goods. Saw the X after the find -Duh!
But very interestingly, a steam engine ( Tankengine?) was chuffing slowly on the nearby rail, and I eventually scored a picture of it, just as we got back to our warm geomobile.
Thanks for the cache and the exciting location in the end!

Found while strolling the wetlands with a friend from Adelaide.
This took us a while. We explored every nook and cranny.
Smart phone GPS was not happy especially when I was on GZ.
Only saw the X after we found it.
So a satisfying find when we made it. A love a road to nowhere, and a railway to nowhere is even better!

After dropping off the daughter at the airport headed over here to find a few nearby caches. Alas I did not find it though I found two Xs.

A nice walk in and an interesting spot to visit. Spent quite a while searching around GZ without luck but managed to find the cache a few meters away. Maybe the coords got a bit derailed..... TFTC
The tracks are clearly not used but it was an weird feeling being half way across the bridge and hearing a train approaching from behind. It was on the other lines though.

Today, I'm meeting Mtrax for a caching morning. That's another thing I like about caching, the nice people you meet. There's no GeoSchnauzers today because we're going into a nature reserve which unkindly does not allow dogs, even Geodogs.
No 6 of 6 today: This one has a few "X"s, and only one marked THE spot. We were poking around quite a bit, when we spotted the cache while looking at a possible X. Lucky!!! Good hide, thanks for the cache and the chance to explore. Thanks for the day out, Mtrax!!!

Caching plans for the afternoon got derailed by a lost dog (or a found one, depending on your perspective) and so we found ourselves having lunch at the Fyshwick markets. After that we were on our way to something much more difficult in Fyshwick. It took us longer than expected at GZ after we found two more of those things near where our GPSs were both zeroing out.
After some searching I grabbed by GPS and it shoved my in the right direction where I spotted the correct "one of those things" and then a cache.
Thanks me_to[o]

The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.... I think that's how it goes. It certainly went awry for us today with plans changing several times but then life is like a box of chocolates....oh hang on....getting my quotes confused.
With original plans derailed, and after an unscheduled lunch at the Fyshwick Markets, Noikmeister noted that this one was not very far away so we made the quick stop. A nice bridge that had me holding my GPS really tight....mainly because I am often chucking it about the place but today I hadn't brought it along in it's usual impossible-to-lose-or-damage-case. Once there we spent a while scouring the structure looking for the right marker with both GPS's honing in on a particular spot where two such things existed. However - both GPS's were out just a little. N made the find shortly after having expanded his search. An interesting location. Like it.

Took a few minutes to find as I found a few similar spots to the final one
Took the walk over the railbridge to get this cache. Saw HG&HW on the way back from the next cache going to this one. Nice dog.
Took a bit as we looked under the bridge and around then spotted the hint location.
Great day out for caching with Everlasting & skyejam - enjoyed this area. Thanks for bringing us here ★★★
Wow It was good fun walk across the old train line... search for X mark and spotted it about 4 m away. signed the log with sevabo and skyejam.
Well, today was the first real day of caching for my holidays and I enjoyed a pleasant ride around the lake. 37 finds and 10 DNFs! This was the third DNF of the day. A short ride from the previous cache to this one and I was hoping for a quick find to get out of the area. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I searched high and low for about 5 minutes before a few cars appeared out of nowhere and drove through. That was when I decided to leave as I was already worried about seeing other people in the area as I was by myself. Thanks anyway...

3492. A nice little stroll to this one on my way home from work. It took a while but once I saw the item mentioned in the hint, I knew I was on the right "track".
Thanks me to for a neat cache.

Everything was a bit damp out this morning, but I had a list to get done and this was first. The trip over was fun, always interesting to test ones balance. GZ did not take too long despite a few sets of numbers to try. Thanks.

Friday 27 June 2014 - another cold breezy winter's day with the sun struggling to squeeze through the fluffy white and grey clouds. Another afternoon stroll to exercise while there's still reasonable weather before the rain starts again. It was hard to find this cache as the GPS was out by about 5 metres and the clue didn't really help as it only made sense once the cache was found. Thx p2p. TFTC.

Found @ 4:08pm with Shadow!
Had a nice stroll to this one, observing all the rubbish at the high water mark. The GPSr wanted us to search further off to one side but that didn't seem to match the description so we eventually resorted to the hint.
I've added the coordinates I got to the log.
Thanks me_to.

Found the spot to park, and did the short walk in (although I could have got there from my previous find in the wetlands). The mark is a bit hard to see, but found OK.
Nice old bridge (and old rails) that are an interesting part of Canberra's history.
Thanks

we would not have found this one without the hint, but finding the X made it easier! tftc
