Safari Park Shenzhen
???????
Their web site is located at:
http://www.szzoo.net
From an English write-up:
The park invested and run by Shenzhen Tourism Corporation is the first of its kind in China. It has resigned from the traditional caging model and the animals have returned to nature, relaxing in an environment which is closely resemble the nature habitat. And so, visitors can not only travel in the buses watching the beasts prey outside, but also walk and feed the lovely animals in their natural environment, feeling the experience of wildness and being returned to nature.
Covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers, the park is the home to 3,000 animals and birds numbering over 150 species with beautiful and quiet environment. It consists of three zones: the herbivore zone, the zone of beasts of prey and the zone of walking and performing zone. In the herbivore zone, there are tame animals such as hippos, sikadeer, giraffes, elephants and various species of birds. In the zone of beasts of prey, there live the ferocious tigers & lions and the charmingly naive bears. In the walking and performing zone, there are Crocodile Pool, Monkey Hill, Snake House, Panda Hall, Golden-monkey's enclosure, viewing tower and restaurants, and you can see the wonderful performance such as the Chinese and Russia Circus, and especially the Fantastic Animal Show-the animal parades on which you will see the majestic-looking King of Animals, a funny wedding ceremony performed by bears and beautiful dance of Red-crowned cranes. Entering the world of animals, you can view various species of birds and beasts.
The Shenzhen Safari Park is located near Xili lake in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen - which is just over the border from the Hong Kong SAR. We visited here as part of a tour of Guangdong province. The GPS'er shot was taken from the bus - at the entrance to the park is a huge rooster ... as I understand it, because it is the year of the rooster?! Our time here was unfortunately limited - we drove by a lot of exhibits we wished we could have stopped and viewed, including lots of birds. We got to see the panda, a female they called number one (because she has had the most births). They also brought out an elephant, bear and snake that we could take our picture with and even handle.

The main entrance into Woburn Safari park, in Bedfordshire, England. We were amazed this zoo was unlogged as it is such a major tourist attraction, and there was a cache meet just a mile down the road last weekend, but now that has changed!

The newest zoo in Alberta, the Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail has a small assortment of animals. But its claim to fame is as the home to the bear that appeared in Dr. Doolittle. You used to be able to "kiss" the bear for a fee! Go to www.discoverywildlifepark.com to find out how to get there.
Coyote Point Museum in San Mateo, California. Besides being a nature learning center, the museum also hosts a 4,000 square foot walk-through aviary, 1.3 acres of gardens with hummingbird and butterfly habitats, and most imprtantly for this locationless cache, a 150-animal zoo for non-releasable animals native to California, including bobcat, river otters, badger, snakes, raptors, and many others.

These are coordinates and pictures of Nay Aug Park Animal Center, more popularly known by locals as the Nay Aug Park Zoo. The Nay Aug Zoo has been around since the 1940's, but closed down in the 1990's. I have somewhat vague memories of visiting the elephants, tigers, and lions. The zoo opened back up in early 2000 and now boasts a growing number of species, all which live in spacious cages. None of the animals were out today, though.
This is the Killman Zoo - a small operation that is run by a family in Caledonia Ontario Canada. They started with the big cats out of interest and then opened the zoo. This was their last day of the season before taking some of the animals to warmer abodes for the Canadian winter. Lions, and tigers, and bears OH MY!

I am very surprised that no one has yet logged the Central Park Zoo on the corner of Fifth Ave and 64th St. in Manhattan.
New York City actually has 5 zoos, one in each of the 5 boroughs. Four of them are run by an organization called the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the main (and by far the largest) being the Bronx Zoo (still not claimed on here! I'm amazed!), with smaller "satellite" zoos in Prospect Park in Brooklyn (previously claimed), Central Park (my cache claim) and in Flushing Meadow Park in Queens (also not yet claimed). The Staten Island Zoo (previously claimed) is run by a different organization.
The Central Park Zoo is the oldest zoo in New York, having first opened way back in 1864 and was then called "the Menagerie". In 1934 it was renamed the "Central Park Zoo".
In the 1960s and 70s the city focused most zoo funding on the larger Bronx Zoo, and the Central Park Zoo fell into disrepair.
In 1980, WCS took over management of zoos in 4 of the 5 boros. It left the Bronx Zoo open and closed the other 3 for long-term renovation projects. The Central Park Zoo was the first of these to reopen, in 1988 (the other two re-opened 4 years later). In 1997, a separate Children's Zoo was added.
While the Polar Bears are the most noteworthy exhibit, an interesting side attraction is a pair of the oldest sea lions in captivity in the United States, both of whom just reached 30 years old.

Went to this zoo when my in-laws were in town. This is said to be the second largest and best zoo in North America. It is the Fort Worth Zoo located in Fort Worth, TX. I love gorilla's and they have a huge gorilla exhibit where you can get up close and personal to the gorillas (silver backs are my favorite!). Quick story: I was standing about 5 feet from the big daddy of all the gorilla's (other side of the glass of course) and he all the sudden jumped up, looked around and took off running towards the middle of the habitat where there is a large fake tree. Once at the tree, the gorilla jumped sideways and kicked off the trunk of the tree with his feet and immediately came running right towards myself and about 5 kids in the window. As he neared the glass, he slammed his fist against the glass and kept running past. I think I screamed the loudest of all the kids. It was the neatest thing, but was absolutely unexpected. I think the gorilla got a big kick out of that one. I am posting the address that will take you straight to the gorilla page; www.fortworthzoo.com/visit/exhibits.html#primates
I didn't have my digital with me that day, but had the regular 35mm camera and took picture of the entrance with the GPSr. Give me a couple days of grace and when I get the pictures back I will scan it and get it posted. Hopefully I can get the film back before I leave for the weekend on vacation, but if not, it will be up by Tues. the 18th. (until then I will post a pic of me and my pup 'Sonny'. I will exchange the pic's when I get the correct one in my possession.

Great zoo located in Tulsa, OK. The Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum is in Mohawk Park. The park has free parking during the week but charges to park on the weekends. See their website here http://www.tulsazoo.org
The first step to open the zoo involved securing private support and a zoological society was incorporated on October 18, 1927. The City then hired its first zoo director: M.E. Erwin was a young local who had shown an unusual interest in zoological work. The zoo opened with approximately 35 animals, including "Boxer," a brown bear; "Bozo," a black bear; and "Waco," a rhesus monkey. The care of these animals fell to a staff of 5 employees.
Currently, nearly 1,500 animals (436 species) are on exhibit, many of them rare and endangered. The Tulsa Zoo is accredited by the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Association of Museums, with a goal of being an accredited Botanical Garden as well.

This is the Prospect Park Zoo, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY. We were in Prospect Park to ride the caruosel and walk a bit. I was trying to burn off some excess stress -- I have a lot of that lately. I took the pics just in case the zoo wasn't logged, and lo and behold it wasn't! My apology for the crappy photos; all I had with me was my cameraphone. My favorite was the frogs, with the red pandas coming in a close second. I've always had a thing for red. My tadpole liked the sea lions! Thanks, finally i can check this off my list.

Zoological park located in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.
The word "zoorasia" comes from "Zoo" and "Eurasia".
You can enjoy the large 344,000 square meter park with 7 zone (Asian tropical forest, Subarctic forest, Oceanian grassfield, Central Asian highland, Japanese countryside, Amazon jungle and African tropical rain forest).
I enjoyed lunch in grass field.
Have fun!

This is Zoo Montana. It is located near Billings Montana. The animals they try to keep here are generally ones that are not common to this area and come from many parts of the world.
This is Wildlife West in Edgewood, New Mexico. This is a genuine zoo, but it only takes in wildlife that has been rescued, mostly in New Mexico. As a result, it has an extensive population of Southwestern fauna, some of which have been injured (the mountain lion walks with a limp in his left, rear leg from having broken it).
We found this one along Highway 2 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This is a unique zoo because it is not a concrete jungle. This zoo is built right into the natural landscape of the area. It is a small zoo that has all of the animals native to the area, however it also has a few animals from other countries as well.
Australia Zoo, the home of Steve and Terry Irwin, located at Beerwah, Queensland, Australia. (thats my etrex in my hand on top of the crocodile).
