Without the support of the local reviewer or Geocaching HQ, I feel there is no point in owning hides anymore. I therefore am slowly archiving all my hides. Time for this one to go. Its been fun reading the logs.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to day1976 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Well, this was indeed a little tricky to solve this puzzle, though probably not 4.5 stars. While I didn't assemble 12 cachers, there was certainly a dozen somethings required to get the coordinates and it was certainly a little work. Quite COVID safe though.
I've been feeling like heading over to Emerald Lake for a run for a few weeks and finally got around to it today. Nice run in from emerald, it's downhill practically all the way so didn't take long.
Beautiful day, till some autumn leaves around on the trees and plenty on the ground.
At GZ no one was around to observe, but it took a little digging around to find the cache... lots of leaves etc. had helped hide the cache and it hadn't been found in two years. Now I wonder why a cache requiring a dozen people hasn't been found in two years...?
Anyway, cache found and all in good order at GZ - only the link on this page is out of date as noted earlier.

We set off early today to head off to the Lead up to St Arnaud event in Emerald today. Along the way Granny mentioned she had seen this cache the night before and that it had sounded fun.
Surely having an event in the area, we can recruit a few other cachers. We all organised to meet at 12.30pm. We had a few glitches and technological issues, but were able to make the climb to the cache and get a smiley for this cool concept of a cache.

This cache takes 12 people to solve it but only one person to find it, but we all had fun. Thanks Day1976
Twelve of us plus one dog met up after the lead up event in Emerald to do this mob cache. Well that was a lot of fun . thanks day1976

On our way to the Saint Arnaud lead-up event in Emerald. I dropped some Empire pathtags in some of the caches we found today. Make sure you log them on pathtags.com if you pick one up. An event today in town means there's plenty of people around to help us find this cache! Thanks for the cache day1976.

An actual mob of the dirty dozen found this cache today.
Thanks for the fun activity and cache.
Thanks for the fun activity and cache.
A mob of 12 plus a cute dog got together to nut this one out. After a few technical hitches we all joined up and went off to find the cache. Mr Harrowang was first to put his hands on it and we SL at 12.40pm. Left: glow eagle PT #5963 Thanks for the fun day1976 and thanks to the rest of the mob for making this one possible! Love the photo by Ian.
After a few technical glitches we finally had ourselves logged in...
We headed up towards the GZ, one great mob of cachers and a dog! After an easy find it was soon a mad rush to sign the log and prove that we were here!

12 geocachers and one dog.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well we had a few glitches,
But we got the cache signed the log! thanks for the fun day1976

Twelve of us plus one dog met up after the lead up event in Emerald to do this mob cache. The URL didn't work as it was supposed to and when we got to the site eventually, it was playing up a little bit. Finally got to the log though. TFTC day1976

This afternoon I headed east for several reasons. Mainly my cache centroid is over 800km west, and I want to nudge it a little closer to home. Plus, there was a new wherigo to be found, and a possible FTF. I also for the first time in over 5 years headed out to cache specifically targeting DT ratings. So due to all these factors I wound up in the 'far east' this afternoon.
I parked my car near the Nobelius Siding, hopped on the bike and was soon puffing my way around the lake.
A PAF for the GZ co-ords would be defeating the object. I wasn't likely going to find a mob of a dozen at short notice. Puffing Billy was surprisingly busy, even on a weekday, with hundreds of tourists milling around. I have several devices, plus some "social networking skills". With some 'socialing', some networking, and some technical skills I managed to complete the mob cache properly and get the GZ co-ords delivered through the intended means.
Thanks to the other 11 'cachers' that took part, and a dozen thanks for the mob cache, Day.

A post on one of the Facebook groups seemed to gather some attention about getting this cache, it had also been on my to do list for some time.
sitting at the GZ waiting for people to show up wondering if we were going to get enough people or not
Eventually we did
After multiple technical difficulties the coordinates finally revealed
the cache was then found
then onto some other caches.
Thanks day1976 for this different cache
Also sorry for the late log. catching up on some!

Isn't social media a wonderful thing. The call came that this was happening and after looking at this for the last 6 months I was straight in and ready to go.
On the day we gathered a likely bunch made up of cachers including, McLookers, clancy79, mazza-g, 4bait, beckNmonts, n0w0rries, SteMicMitSar, Mark9375, The_Tritonz, The Welder, and everyone else I've forgotten. Thanks heaps Tania for organising this.
Well it started off a little tricky but gradually, oh so gradually, the number of connected devices climbed on the counter and as hope was almost abandoned, there was the magic number and the grins and sighs of excitement and relief.
A pleasant stroll to the cache and it was soon found and all our names added.
Thanks Day for another brilliant cache that brings people together

I was keen to make it to this event despite the forecast of "destructive winds" which had caused the closure of other nearby national parks.
What's that?
It wasn't an 'event'??
Oh, right. Okay.
Well, I made my way down to the 'gathering', wary of crazy winds.
What's that?
There was sunny blue skies and hardly a wind to speak of??
Oh, okay...
So I joined some familiar faces and a few new ones too.
You're sure it wasn't an event??
Anyhow, we got our dozen devices together as planned.
What's that?
They didn't all register??
Compootah says, "Noooo..."
Oh man!!
So there we were stranded on 9 devices...
Then 10 devices...
Eventually after a rather drawn out half an hour, 11 devices...
But it had taken so long to get this far that unfortunately someone now had to leave!! It looked like it just wasn't going to work today...
But that key moment was reminiscent of the common geo-story where you discover the cache only once you've admitted defeat, for it was only as she had hurried off down the path that we finally got our dozen devices registered!!!
Huzzah!! The coordinates were ours!
With a hop, skip and a jump were all signing off on a successful mission.
Now, what shall I do with the rest of this cyclonic... I mean 'idyllic' day?
Thanks day1976, for a ripper concept in a truly gorgeous setting. Cheers, mate!

The word had got around via social media that a gathering was to happen at this beautiful garden/lake setting this morning , all were welcome , the more the merrier. We started slow with 6 logged on , then 7, 8 , 9, 10, then after some time 11 but that elusive 12 just would come. With McLookers needing to leave she had just walked away as the MAGIC NO. 12 hit our screens. With shouts of joy , everyone preceded to screenshot the coordinates and we were off, like a stampede of elephants .
Thanks day1976 for the fun mob cache in an idyllic setting.

Met up with a group on this windy Saturday morning. After a while counting 9, 10, 11, and eventually got the 12. Thanks all.
I joined a mob this morning to go in search of this cache. We stood, getting kicked out and reconnecting for a while, and finally, it recognised us all and the final coordinates were given! A quick screen shot and off we raced to the final. Actually that's a lie, we were very restrained. Of course somebody stole the pen, but a full body search was not needed as they soon fessed up. Log signed, cache replaced and we were soon on our way again. Great cache, I love how it makes multiple teams meet up. TFTC day1976
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Eventually a dozen were hatched and off we all went.
I'd like to say I followed the geotrail to GZ but it was more like a conga line actually.
Thanks day for the cache, Tania for the mini-event and all others for participating.
Took a TB. Visited some TBs.

I noticed a call out to form a group to tackle this one and I figured that this might be my best chance to actually find this one.
This morning we headed out and arrived at the posted coordinates as the group was forming, eventually we had more than enough devices on location, the only problem was that we couldn't get more than 10 devices connected for a long time, eventually we had 11 and when we were just about ready to give up, we achieved the magic number of 12 and we had the coordinates in hand.
After a little while we decided that we should go and actually find the cache now that we had the coordinates so we all headed out in search of a cache.
We arrived at GZ and a short time later, Chris come up with the goods.
**Thanks to day1976 for placing this cache.**

Thanks to Tania for organising this gathering to find this cache. There were more than 12 devices but trying to have them all connected at the one time was a bit of a deal. When we were going to give up the magical number of 12 appeared and we had the coordinates in hand. Literally! First time I have seen this type of cache work. TFTC.
With a post on social media asking for people to join in and help with numbers Mark9375 and I were in. We went out caching the night before so we were both still a little sleepy come morning but we made it and to our supprise were actually early. One by one other like minded suspects turned up which was a good thing because gale force winds were forecast and we weren't sure if the meeting was still going ahead lol. It wasn't long before over a dozen eager people were in a huddle and all trying to log in to the Web page. It seemed to take an eternity to get the required 12 log on at the same time. Sometimes we would get to 10 and one would drop out etc etc and this went on for a while but there was a long awaited roar of cheer when finally 12 devices had hooked up simultaneously and everyone quickly screen shot their phones to save the coords. With this info in hand we headed off into the bush to find the much earned treasure. We had a great chin wag with other like minded cachers including the famous Tritonzs who traveled long and far from overseas in Geelong to be here today all in all it was a nice day out in pretty windy conditions. Being suckers for punishment most of us went off and had a crack at the near by multi. Thanks for the fun and for bringing us here TFTC
A mob will gather on Saturday 29 July at 10.45am. Please send me a message if you can join in...we need at least another 9 devices with people attached.
Firstly, an apology for my extremely slow logging time (logging this find on 2/7/17).
Today I came out here to attend a spontaneous event for one of the nearby buddy caches, and spent the day in the Dandenongs either side of the mini event. Some nice caches were found in what is always a beautiful area that I will never tire of visiting. This was the 3rd find of 5 finds for the day.
This being the main attraction for the day, I turned up a few minutes late and the group had nearly all wandered off already! I did, however, get the full experience of seeing the coordinates pop up on my phone. Always very fun caches these and a great excuse to get a group together. Eventually made our way to GZ for a nice simple find in the company of who-knows-how-many finders.
Thanks day1976

It has just been brought to my attention that I haven't logged this or any of the caches that we found whilst attending this call out. Please accept my apologies. I remember attending as we met you and your daughter who were fairly new to caching at the time. We had never done one of these types of caches so were eager to attend. Again, I am so sorry that I missed logging it. Thanks heaps for organising.
Found it! After seeing the call to arms for a mob assult on this cache, Kelly and geokid 3 teamed up with more than a bakers dozen others to knock this one over with ease. Thanks to Fieldmouse2 for setting this up and thanks day1976 for the cache...
Fleabag- and Spiffy- and I had this as the cache target for today and also my 300th. It was great to meet everyone and despit some phone Nes having reception trouble we got there plus another mob cache we needed 12 for that we discovered earlier that day. Puffed to cache for a quick find. Thanks.
After a very unexpected multiple tree climbing expedition we continued on what we were going to do initially. We had planned the afternoon to finish up in Emerald Lake park at the group assault event organized on Facebook.
After targetting a couple of WhereIGo caches we headed over here a few minutes early to find a large gathering of people and not long after we were heading off to GZ.
After a quick stop there (I was the legend who actually found the cache) we headed back to the car park to give back the ladder we unexpectedly borrowed this morning. Thanks Kez, you're a legend as well.
Thanks day1976 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
Thanks Debbie for the event organisation, great effort. A favourite from me.

Checked on cache prior to today's attempt. Happy to say everything is in place and ready to go. Dropped off a dozen Geocaching Melbourne stickers.
Found it. Great arvo catching up with the Geocaching Melbourne/ Victoria Facebook crew Got the mob done in no time. What a walk up that hill. My legs have turned to jelly
Big crowd but technology didn't grant the tick. Following the flock gave the smiley.
Found it with a great big mob! Thanks to Debbie for organising it, and thanks Day for creating the hunt (and for the sticker!). After the find, the kids and I walked around the whole track and saw some beautiful plants and birds. What a beautiful day
Saw the call to arms on Facebook during the week, which just happened to coincide with a trip to Berwick in the morning. Things were looking up, especially with the forecast sunshine and a clear afternoon on the calendar. I discussed the idea with the geomrs, who happened to be driving today, and the all clear was given. The drive was quite pleasant and we arrived at GZ with time to kill, and surprisingly had the table all to ourselves. Time to check out the link. First time I discovered that location services were switched off, so quickly rectified that. Next, pumped in the code to discover I was one of 12. Around 30 mins later, I checked again and suddenly there was 2. I turned around to see a mob approaching with a few familiar faces. Everyone adopted the modern pose of staring at their phone. Up to 3, 4, 5, 6, then a connection error on my phone. Took a bit to reconnect, then 7, 8, 9, 5, Ohhhh! I think we had to or three goes at reaching 11 before the magical 12 appeared. Screenshot came just in time, as someone must've leapt with delight right out of the zone to see the number drop to 11 and the final coords disappeared. Wel, at least we were armed with the final destination. The mob headed across the grass, when I spotted the CO hiding under his cap, who said that he'd just been to check that the cache was still in place before the mob arrived. I'm sure it would have been a linch-mob had it not been there. With the log signed, and a bit of a chat thrown in, it was time for the long drive back to Sth Gippy. Thanks for a great cache, and for the non-smiley (but fun) event.
The call went out on FB for a dozen cachers to meet and form the mob for this cache. Well, today I think we ended up with a couple of dozen!! It was really nice to see a fair few familiar faces and also put other unknown faces to some familiar names. Pretty sure I managed to get around and meet MOST of the crowd but I think I missed a few who snuck off early.
I turned up a smidge before the planned time but the mob had already got the coords sorted and didn't need me for numbers. Darn that testy ticket machine in the car park, which held me up for a good 5 minutes as it declined my card a number of times, making me look like a bankrupt loony. When it finally decided that it liked my card after all and gave me a ticket, I turned around to see a queue about 7 people deep so I scurried away red faced.
Anyway, back to the cache.... We made the short walk up to GZ in dribs and drabs. Admittedly I hadn't even plugged the coords into my phone so I just followed along like a good little sheep. Us Kiwis have lots of practice with sheep! I witnessed spiffy make the find and I scrawled my name on the log. A little bit of socialising followed and then we were off to find another cache.
Thanks to day1976 for the cache. Thanks to Debbie for organising. And thanks to all those who came along and made this possible. Nice to see you all

Arrived at the appointed time to find a few familiar faces and many new. The co ord for GZ had just been obtained so my device and log on was not required. The mob of 30+ cache teams then soon headed up the hill to GZ. At GZ there was a line of teams waiting to sign the log book. Thanks Debbie for putting out the call to arms and Day for placing the cache.

Fieldmouse2 did a great job at putting the call out on Facebook for an attempt on this cache. Getting 12 people organised I thought might be a little tricky, but in the end over 30 people turned up A really good turnout for a casual bit of caching in this park. I think everyone was pleased just to be outside on this sunny mild Sunday.
As we were signing Puffing Billy rambled along the track above us making the occasion just a little bit more special!
This also marks the first D4+ mystery/puzzle cache of the year for me. I had set a personal goal to pick up 12 of them in 2016. I'm a bit behind, and not sure I'll count this since there wasn't much mystery involved. I just tagged along for the ride
Thanks also goes to the CO day1976 who checked this morning that the cache was ready for signing, and also turning up with a bunch of stickers to give away. Yay!

Whoever ordered the weather for today did a very good job, perfect for us all standing around with our phones waiting for the magic twelve to come up. Then the SHORT walk up the hill to locate and sign the log. A great day Thanks
Well this cache was a lot of firsts for us. Our first day1976 cache find (sorry Day, we really should get out more) our first time responding to a Facebook call out for numbers, first time we have cached with so many people and the first time I have stood in line to sign a log book behind a tree. All these firsts added up to a fantastic day and one I wouldn't hesitate to repeat.
Thank you so much Debbie for organising the day and thank you day1976 for creating such a great cache that can bring so many people together. Definitely earns another favourite point from us.

Great find and wow what a turn out. Log signed and then time to check out the Pokemon app... Thanks Day
This group get together was advertised on Facebook and it looked very much like being a big day with what turned out to be 30+ cachers all logging on to a web site, then following the coordinates given to find this Mystery Cache here. Everyone seemed to enjoy this cache in the concept of how it was put together by the CO. Notable by their presence were cachers from Korumburra, Cowes, Mornington Peninsula & Geelong and all areas in between who took part in this cache find.
Thanks to day1976 for this cache and thanks to all who participated in the find.

Spiffy- GT02 and I planned an afternoon of caching with a grand plan of being in Emerald for 3:30 for this. It was great to meet so many people not Pokémoning and return a ladder we borrowed earlier that day! We had a few people with phone issues but got what we needed and made a quick find. As chance would have it we had done a 3 person mob cache earlier that day only to need another 12 people to finish it so hijacked the group for this too and got the Coords. But that one needs maintenance as the GZ is part of roadworks!! Thanks day1976 for the cache.
We were in Cockatoo having a somewhat late lunch this afternoon and I remembered there was a facebook get together just up the road so after finishing up the last scraps of lunch we shot across to Emerald and I just got there in time with a minute or two up my sleeve while the dear wife parked the car and organised a parking ticket. There seemed to be plenty of eager cachers that had the situation in hand and the co-ord's were soon revealed and it was a case of heading to the gz, mind you not quite enough room for the large mob that had converged to sign the log. We all took our turn and signed the log and exchanged pleasantries. Glad to get this one out of the way as it was the first type of cache I have ever done like this, thanks day1976 for the hide, also Fieldmouse2 for organising the mob event.
Thanks to Debbie for organising this gathering. When we joined in there were already 6 and the number soon climbed to 13 in order for the find coords to be revealed. Such a gorgeous afternoon to be out and about. The kids wanted to go to the playground so, thankfully, Zeus watched over them while I walked up, up and up with the mob to find the cache. Thanks to Paul the ball and OzHockeyChick for confirming a couple of puzzles for me - always a bonus. And thanks to Day for setting this up in the first place. Lots of thanks in this log!
These feel like strange circumstances in which to be claiming a 'find'. Despite arriving a few minutes before the scheduled time, the mob was already doing its thing, or was trying to. I needed a different browser apparently, so downloaded it, but still wasn't able to run with the mob. Kindly neighbours passed on the coords so I was at least able to make my way to GZ independently. I *almost* saw the cache being extracted from its hidey-hole, and then I was passed a log-book to sign. Certainly the wizardry involved is impressive. Honestly wouldn't mind attempting this again some time. Thanks day1976!

After seeing the "call for participants" post on social media, I was determined to be part of the action today.
After a long bikeride with Mrs Team Smokey-Bear, we arrived just a couple of minutes past the start time, but in time to be part of the group assault.
Thanks day1976 for the unusual cache, and to Debbie for organising today.

A great turn out here today after the call was put out on FB. By the time I got there the group had already worked out the coordinates so off we headed. It didn't take long for the cache to be located and for us all to sign the log. Thanks Day for the cache and for bringing me to a location that I hadn't yet explored until today. TFTC
So many cachers from all over place to caching by in a group.
Great lake park.
Thanks day1976
Great lake park.

We had never even heard of this type of cache before we saw the call out to attend this one. We arrived quite early before signing in as the group grew larger. The numbers went up and down before we finally reached the magic number 12 and got the coords we needed. After having a good chinwag with friends old and new, the group slowly broke up and went in their own directions. Thanks to Debbie Molenkamp for organising the day, thanks also to Day1976 for creating the cache.
Decided that despite attending my first ever CITO in Ballarat in the morning and having done Fright Night #2 the night before I'd try and make it in time for the mob attempt.
The D/T on this cache was worth it alone and I didn't know when another attempt might be mounted. After making it back with some decent time to spare I was introduced to a number of familiar cachers by Geoturtle whilst waiting for the appointed start time. As always it was great to match faces to names only known from a log or as cache owners.
The attempt itself was over quite quickly as we had more than enough cachers to meet the threshold and then it was off to the cache where a queuer formed to do the duties.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this one Day.

What a great afternoon it's been! Knowing that we'd be in Emerald this afternoon we tentatively put up a post out on FB. "Mob wanted!" Would people turn up? We haven't played this game for long and hadn't met any fellow cachers yet. What would happen?
When TamikaM1997 and I rolled into the carpark we saw a group of people with cameras, phones and notepads. Sure enough, all earlybird cachers! So after introductions we wandered to the given coordinates. More turned up. Before long we were logging on. The numbers went up and down several times. Then finally the magic numbers. Yay!
Time to hike up that nasty hill. The log was found and signed. That took some time and then it was off to do another cache with part of the group.
Thank you Day1976 for creating such an unusual cache! You made me step out of my comfort zone but not complaining, we met heaps of nice fellow minded cachers and the location bought back many childhood memories. Those slides...
Also a huge thanks to all those who helped us get this smiley.....

We will be around after the Back to the Future event on 21 October (ends about 7.30), and would love to find a mob to do this cache with.
I'm local and will be at the event so happy to tag along afterwards to do this one again.
Thinking of attempting this one tomorrow morning at about 10:30am with a few others we are short s couple of interested OR tomorrow evening around 6pm inbox me for details
A note on facebook a few days ago suggesting a saturday morning meet for this one, bonus as i was staying in emerald that night, so had to say yes...4 teams turned up, along with 2 muggles, with what appeared to be 30 devices, we all tried to connect 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 6, 5, 10, 11, then back to 7, it just wasnt working, internet dropping out one gps showing 1000 miles away, eventually the numbers started increasing and sat on 11 for so long, than up popped the magical number 12, and a set of co-ords. We all headed off to and soon the cache was found and log signed, even tried to get the muggles to sign but no joy this time. Maybe next time paulina... anyhow a successful morning and fun time, thanks to sealteam4 for organising us, and day1976 for the interesting cache...

How else would you want to spend a Saturday morning? Between those who answered the call, a couple of muggle friends, a thousand devices and dodgy reception, the magic number was finally reached, yippee! Hats off to the lovely muggles watching us madly re-logging in devices as some dropped off and others came online, even if they did think we were all completely crazy.
Then a "nice" walk up the hill to one of those spots where you just know there should be a cache and the log was signed, photo taken and a sigh of relief because it was all worth it for that little smiley
Thanks to everyone that came out to make it possible and thanks day1976 for another fabulous experience

Up in the hills for the challenge of getting a dozen or so cachers in the one place at the one time and all with data connections. Also grabbing a few additional caches of interest along the way.
Well, this is it, the big kahuna! Seven people (big and small), 2 muggles (dragged in off the walking track because they had phones with data) and a dozen or more mobile devices. Thumbs and fingers going in all directions trying to get internet access and keep the phone active before they go to sleep again. The count went up and down several times as we painfully watched 11 come and go on at least one occasion before we finally struck 12 about 30 minutes after we kicked off. Yes, we have coordinates, quick write the damn things down before we lose them.
After packing up all the surplus devices we went for a wander up the hill on a beautiful winters morning in the Dandenongs (almost a meander so to speak). Cache was found in short time and the log was signed. Time was taken for a short chat and photo session before the lure of another cache had us heading in various directions.
Nice to catch up with everyone and thanks to day1976 for placing this cache and challenge.

After a few days of backwards and forwards texting and messaging on F/B, We were set to tackle Caching By The Dozen. Meeting new Cachers wasn't the highlight of this find, but watching the look on the dragged in Muggles faces was priceless! Many looks of 'what the hell are you guys doing???'
After the frustration of getting so close to 12 connections many times we finally got it. A quick walk to GZ with the group and we had cache in hand. After a group photo we all dispersed.

Why is this premium members only? This is a great cache to introduce to newbies to the game, and they won't be able to log it. Shame.
I'm in Emerald until mid to late April. With my wife here too, count two more people in to this mob. I'll add this cache to my watchlist.
Hello Everybody!
We are hoping to gather a mob to do this cache, we think we already have 3, if anyone else is interested in joining drop us a message and if we get enough people we can organise a date.
Thanks Pinkiggy7 (Bert, Danielle and Adam)

In the Company of pprass, ahomburg, Alansee, Biggles Bear, FelixII, Karopi, maccamob, Muzza, Rabbitto, Sylken, The Drovers and Team Crackers we gathered for the cache.
FelixII was the founding organiser and we gathered at the central location. The numbers came up and the screen shots rang out as we gathered the final location.
The trip for us was follow the troops and with a top notch group in front I only had to watch the rear for wolves and wild bears.
After finding and logging the cache it was time for a coffee and a snack.
Our thanks to Day1976 for the cache and the fun adventure, a much deserved favorite added on this one.

Find #4466
After the multi and puzzle 101 / 201 event at geostuff HQ, I was reminded of this mini event by Mrs Crackers. I had totally forgotten about it, so I was glad of the reminder as it had been on the to do list for some time. so, everyone had gathered as agreed just after 3PM, fired up the website and the wait for 12 participants was on!! There we go, that ran pretty smooth and within about 5 minutes, 12 had joined the mob and the co-ords for GZ were obtained. After a slow wander to GZ, the cache was quickly located.
My second MOB cache, but the first time I had the website work for me.
Thanks to day1976 for placing this cache. TNLN

Some months ago, a few of us agreed to meet up here to do this cache. Along the way, some extras were gained to make up the numbers, including two teams from WA and two from SA. Once we were all together, the smart phones came out, and gradually the numbers increased until we eventually got to 13, one above the 12 required.
Once the golden numbers were given, we all headed to the GZ for a quick find. After the logging, and a few photos, it was off to the other nearby cache.
Thanks to Day1976 for the unique cache and to my fellow team members.

About 3 months ago, we received a message from FelixII, informing us of this Mob Cache.
We let them know that we were interested, and looked forward to the day.
Headed to Emerald with The Coffees & Team Crackers, to meet up with fellow cachers.
Everyone sorted out their smart phones, and we soon had the required numbers.
A short walk to GZ, where the cache was located quickly, and a list of names was added to the log.
This was the highlight of the day, as it was something very different and fun to do.
Thanks to FelixII for organising the day, and many thanks to day1976, for placing this cache.

Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
Whilst camped at Berwick in November Mrs Felix scanned the State for challenge caches (one of her favourites)
The Caching by the Dozen challenge came to the fore. A few phone calls to 3 GeoFriends and a plan was concocted.
From those initial plans the seed was sown and the word spread far and wide.
Thanks to those that shared the plan and made this possible today with 13logs into the webpage. There were a few phones that struggled to get signal and some still logging in when the magical numbers appeared. A really fun cache and fabulous to meet so many people, that we had only 'heard' of before. A fave point from us. Memorable too as the Puffing Billy choo chooed past as we trekked to GZ.

We found this cache today at 3:40pm as number 1 of 3 on a quick Emerald Lake Park Tour. A real geocaching noted cast had turned up to make the attempt on this cache today. On a quick count, I think that there are over 150,000 finds between this whole caching mob which is fairly impressive so it should be fairly difficult for any subsequent groups to match or beat that number in the short term. Once everyone had arrived, the numbers started to go up and we soon had the co-ords in hand. This was followed by the walk to GZ to log the cache. Thanks for the cache and to the mob who sent out the invite to complete today. Especially timely for us as we were due at a party in Cockatoo just one hour later. Thanks from D, HA, H & A B-A.
Found at 3:37 PM GAFF5 in the company of ahomburg, Alansee, Biggles Bear, FelixII, Karopi, maccamob, Mr Coffee, Muzza, Rabbitto, Sylken, The Drovers and Team Crackers. Well this is a turn-around. We were recently in Wonthaggi doing D5.0/T4.5 caches in the sand dunes where the CO specifically forbade us to search in a group and here you just have to "search" in a group
FelixII contacted us in November to get together to attempt this cache and at that time we just had 4 teams attending. Word got around at the Wonthaggi event and suddenly there were 12 teams attending and then on the day another team suddenly popped up and there were 13 teams. Just as well that there were so many teams, because I just could not get my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini) to get the location thing working. I could do it on the settings for the general phone, but not for the Web Browser - Firefox
When the magic number suddenly appeared on our phones - even though my phone was not in the "vicinity" it recorded the co-ords - we all headed off to the final and Rabbitto was the one to locate the cache first - it had no chance of hiding for too long with that crowd searching And what an impressive crowd it was - 5 of the top 20 cache finders in Australia were there [^]
Thanks day1976 for a great concept - pity you couldn't make it and watch the fun (work sometimes gets in the way of caching doesn't it )

Found by Mary & David at 1540. We were invited by pprass to join the mob for this cache this afternoon. Parked close by and waited at the appointed spot as the mob assembled. Soon the magic number 12 appeared, and the final coordinates were revealed. GZ was close by, so the mob relocated there for a quick find and a mass logging. This was great fun, and everyone really enjoyed it. We had teams from WA and SA in the mob too. Our thanks to day1976.
With so many cachers required to get this one - far more than recommended by the deviser - I had consigned this one to the unlikely basket. However FelixII provided an opportunity and despite the rain forecast (which didn't happen) we had enough to make the coordinates, and then the find.
Late last year Mrs FelixII discovered this challenge cache waiting to be found and she and Mr FelixII immediately set the plans in motion to get today organised. Talk about a 'red rag to a bull'. FelixII are old hands at organisation and have lots of geofriends so there were plenty of folks to take up the challenge.
This cache has been listed to encourage teams to get together for the enjoyment of caching and today proved what an excellent idea that was We arrived from Adelaide with geodaughter KAROPI to add our 'smart' phones to the list. WOW!! We sure felt like 'babes in the woods' amongst so much 'caching Royalty'. So glad that pprass has kindly listed all those teams that were present as it is always difficult to remember names and teams after brief introductions.
Everyone was very keen to start logging into their browsers and there were lots of happy yells as the numbers began to build. The co-ords appeared as if by magic when the 12th phone 'made contact'....and there were even enough phones left over for some still trying to 'log in' and a couple were even in use for making calls at the time too
Many thanks to FelixII for inviting us to be involved and many thanks to all the teams for showing up and making this possible. We all had a ball.
Special thanks of course to day1976 for such a great idea and of course a favourite point coming your way[^][^][^]

While at the Wonthaggi New Years Eve event FelixII mentioned the plan to get a group together to attempt this cache, we were keen to join in.
We arrived at the allotted time to find a merry group and moved in on wpt 1. It was great watching the number of devices connect until we hit the magic number and we had the co-ords.
Once these were loaded we all headed off to gz and happily added our name to the log.
Many thanks Day1976 for a very novel cache idea, we had no idea that it would be so difficult to get 12 smart phones in the one location at the same time.
A favourite point from us.

It was a dark and stormy night...
OK, maybe not, but it was surely a rainy and misty night, and of course it was dark. Hello... NIGHT.
But anyway. This intriguing collaborative cache was published, and a plan was hatched. The call went out and enough people accepted the challenge, so they came from all directions. I was happy to be designated driver, so collected LouiseAnn and sharkiefan on the way, and we drove up into the hills just on dark, and managed to find a parking spot within manageable distance from the meeting point.
Our arrival was enough to push the numbers over the line, so the final coordinates slowly revealed themselves as our phones and other devices connected. A short walk in the drizzle into the scrub, and the cry of "Found it!" rang through the trees.
The cache itself would have been well worth the journey, but we were privileged to be invited back to the CO's house to celebrate both the cache and his birthday. The weather was less than cooperative, making visibility interesting at times, but hey, the beer was good and the company fine.
Thanks for a great cache and a wonderful evening, day1976.
Oh, my entertainment for the night had not ended... driving a rather tipsy LouiseAnn back to her place was absolutely hilarious.

Well, this was an interesting one for me. I've decided to make stepping out of my comfort zone as often as I can a personal goal of mine. Meeting strangers definitely fits into that category.
Using the trusty gps and Day's clues (thanks!!) to find my way to emerald museum I stolled, umbrella and torch in hand, to the meeting point. For once, I was on time! I was welcomed by the others in the group and we waited for the numbers to pick up. As the others guided their way by torchlight, the rain came down - and reception got patchier on my phone. Luckily, we/I were able to get enough reception to log in to the site and get the coordinates.
After a short walk to GZ and we had the cache in hand. With careful umbrella manoeuvres, we all signed the log without it getting (too) wet. Trackables were exchanged and we were on our merry way.
It was great to meet the fellow cachers from the FB group and to have the opportunity to put faces to cachers. Thanks to GJMMelb for the conversation on the walk out and for lift back to my car.
A dark, damp evening. Thanks for this unique cache

After hearing about this little get togther through the geocaching melbourne facebook page I decided to join in the fun especially as I needed the day to help fill my calender. Getting stuck behind a semi on the way up to Emerald held me up a fair bit and I got to the car park right on 7pm. A quick dash through the park with fading torch batteries I arrived to find I was number 10 of the attendees with a couple more not far behind.
Soon enough we had enough attendees to reveal the co-ordinates and just as it began to rain heavily we were on the hunt for the cache. This certainly was a fun and different type of caching experience and it was great to be involved in this attempt. Thanks everyone especially º for organising the get together and Day1976 for the cache It gets a favourite I hope you had a good birthday.

12? Really?
Hey! I'm an engineer - I don't have friends and if there are some misguided souls out there who would call themselves friends of mine, they are less than twelve in total.
But I have access to a facebook-group with 600+ addicted cachers > well, let's try this and invite ALL of them.
It obviously worked and I got free beer and an ammo-can as well. Awesome.

A great concept for a cache and one that certainly brings the caching troops together. I had my bike in the car so parked in the museum carpark and pretty well rolled almost all the way to the meeting location. As I approached I saw a lonely figure sitting and waiting in the fading light, it was the birthday boy and CO of the cache, Day.
We sat and chatted for a while and shortly the rest of the dirty dozen began to steadily arrived. Greetings and introductions were made and we kept checking the numbers to see if we had made the twelve. Eventually the last two arrived and we were on. With the phones all fired up the count was on as we reached 3 then 7 then 9 then 12 .. bingo !!
With the coords revealed there was a mad stampede of tapping on phones and into GPS's as numbers were punched in. Once everyone was set, our posse headed of to GZ where the cache was soon found. The logbook was passed around and each of us signed in our names.
A really great fun experience and a fav for me.
Thanks Day.

Thanks for thic cache, cool puzzle. Nice to make it out and be part of the team. Nice to meet some cachers. Thanks.
We had planned to be in Melbourne and then we saw the call out for willing participants. With bad weather forecast, we were not sure about venturing to very unknown territory. As our departure time approached, it had not started to rain so we were off on our way. Heavy traffic had us wondering if we would make it in time. Tomstache was navigating and we surprisingly seemed to make it in good time. There were a couple of other cachers there when we arrived. We were lucky to have the CO supervising too. One by one cachers started to trickle in until we had the magic number. We loaded up and the program gave us the co-ords for GZ. It had started to rain but it did not deter us from making the find. Each person signed the log and it was replaced. The rain was a bit heavier as we made our way back to the cars. We said our goodbyes to our fellow cachers. Thanks for organising Philipp and thanks so much for the cache day1976. We really enjoyed meeting cachers we had not met before who had all come together for a common goal. Great cache and great idea.
An interesting idea and great to be part of it. Having decided to go I left a bit later than I should and was pressed for time. I made my way to the Emerald Museum as directed and then walked through the Lake park, taking what seemed like a round about route. There was a map at the gate and with the GPS I had no trouble finding Gz. Once I got close I saw the lights and found the team. At that stage (slightly after 7) there were about 8 or 9 of us. We waited unsure if we would get the numbers until conformation was received of others on the way. We started to log in and watch the figure climb. When the last of group arrived we watched the number go to 12 and the some got the page with the required info. We then had a short walk and the rain started to become heavier. The cache was found before I got to Gz and we signed the log and headed back to the cars with the rain now steady. Shame about the weather but great idea. Always good to meet other cachers old and new. Thanks day1976
What luck! To find this cache with the CO on his birthday = awesome! I missed all the action when this was published but was quick to jump in. What an epic event! I am proud to be part of this group who completed it in the manner intended. Kudos to the FTFers though. Clever. Got throughly saturated at the event but all part of the fun. Got lost on the way back and ended up back at the car. Back to the COs for cake and beers. Woo hoo for not driving! Happy birthday Day and thanks for the cache!
