It seemed like a good idea to go caching today in this very wet and drizzly day. But its all in fun. TFTC Long John Silva.

Nice location for a cache beautiful hills surround this cache

18-Jun-24
TwoEms Day 3 The Green WedgeWe got out of the car with our cameras and looked for the picture perfect spot.Hundreds of trees are being removed near our home only a few suburbs away. A small corridor of nature which gave our concrete community a little wild green space is now being cut down to make room for more road. If we dare to listen, we can hear the trees screaming. We tried to capture the idyllic viewto take a little back with us home.__________Series: It Seemed Like A Good IdeaFind count: 3 of 14Day: 3We parked on the side of the road, took about a dozen panos and counted at least ten lazy kangaroos dotted on the hillside. We also looked up what a green wedge meant and made a quick little find. Thank you for the cacheand for the view.Brownie Badge: ConservationTo continue this adventure, turn to page: To see what happens tomorrow, turn to page: https://coord.info/GL1CBQ27N

Quick drive-by on my way south, before turning west heading home. Took note of the clue.

Nice quick one pretty straight forward, I do love these ones.

I found this today while out hunting with Redcb. We had Pilot the geocaching hound with us, and the weather was ideal, making for a very pleasant afternoon. This one was found quickly with the accurate coords. Thanks Long John Silva.

Our travels continued...gosh this weather is glorious today. This was a speedy find and we were soon on our way to number 4. TFTC

28-Sep-23
Well there was only one place to look here with the given clue, but nothing obvious presented itself. Muggled?? Will have to revisit.

27-Aug-23
It was an easy one to find. But it is very tiny and we were very happy to find it. Little bit hard to open

19-Aug-23
Quick find on the Great Victorian Cache Crawl. Tftc

I never realised how beautiful the roads around this area are, thanks for bringing me here via this cache.

**This Cache:**

Magnetic in the bush! Ahhh yes, only one place it could be!
Thanks injuryman for taking one for the team and signing the log here!

*Signed the log as **AB!** for "Adventure Boys! which for this cache consisted of Loci612, DARKSIDEDAN, injuryman and sebass19*

**Today:**

Today was a fairly chill day! We were all pretty shattered, myself especially from several days of hiking, walking and long days of fast paced caching! Everyone was still keen to get out there though, so we put 2 people in each car and just casually agreed who was following who and finding random caches here and there. I enjoyed following behind DSD as it meant I could switch off my brain a little bit and just park behind him each time, jump out for another cache, and keep going! Didn't have to think about anything too much and just enjoy the serenity of exploring!

We started the day at 7am but finished by 4:30pm! By far the earliest day all week, and then just relaxed in the accomodation, had a chat and ate some food! We also managed to attend the Farewell event near the end of the day before making sure we had cleaned up any final local caches and heading to the accomodation as we were leaving the next morning!

Thanks to all the CO's

20-Nov-22
Found these ones with Loci612, Darksidedan, and Sebass19. Thanks for the fun!

30-Sep-22
Fixed the hides location by using a bit of muscle. Hopefully that means that it won’t get repaired and the cache lost in the process. Cheers.

29-Aug-22
Sign is damaged but cache is still OK

20-Aug-22
Three found, but more to go. Where to next?

20-Aug-22

It was a great idea for me because I finally found what I wanted here. Sorry for the late log.
Thanks Long John Silva

02-May-22
Finally got around to revisiting this cache to officially log it. We first found it several months ago when we were doing the series but were unable to log it because it was disabled at the time due to the log book being full.

01-May-22
Found on a Sunday afternoon cache run to kick off May. Nice views from here. Thanks.

25-Apr-22
Another quick drive-by cache in the series. TFTC!

25-Apr-22
A quick park and grab, thank you!

21-Apr-22
8:20am

Up in the dark to arrive at Wattle Glen at sunrise. Thedoctorswife and I were excited to attempt this entire series just as those poor scouts had done so long ago. Hopefully this time the idea was a good one!

This was our third find of the day, and after deciding against maintaining the line and bushbashing due South the cache was soon found. After collecting the code number we realised we’d forgotten to collect codes for #1 and #2.

Hopefully the CO can help us out…

TFTC Long John Silva

01-Feb-22
There are so many hills in this area. I have been able to split these caches over a number of days. I feel so sorry for the Boy Scouts having to do the walk all in one session. I found this little chap just waiting for me to sign the log.

30-Jan-22
Found with icw. I weeded some boneseed out of the bush while icw signed the log for us both. Tftc.

30-Jan-22

Great little hide. Found it with my 2 cubs. With us parents being involved in scouting this series was one we were looking at doing for a while. Thanks

16-Jun-21
TFTC. I live in Research and had an errand to do in Hurstbridge so picked this up on the way home.

This was the last date on my calendar that only contained Traditional cache finds.

Two broken spokes on my mountain bike wheel meant a long overdue visit to my favourite bike mechanic in Monty. That sorted, I addressed the calendar issue by posting my log on Post Your Log.

Now I can go and play...

Today, it seemed like a good idea to start this cache series. Been meaning to since the first half was published, as it's such an interesting story of the follies, and triumphs of youth.

Thanks again, Long John Silva. A nice quick park-and-grab.

Found your cache Long John Silva, thank you so much for placing it.

24-Oct-20
With Melbourne having another go at getting to a "COVID normal" with unlimited time out and a 25km travel radius, it seems like a reasonable time to open up caches again. We still have a long way to go though so stay safe... keep your distance... use hand sanitizer... and BYO pen!

25-Jul-20
Stay Home... Stay Safe!!!!

24-May-20
2nd of the day after coming out this way to claim a nearby solved puzzle. Like number five, these types of containers are always fun to find. It really feels like the middle of nowhere here! Great views from this place. This is the eighth in the series for us now. Still planning to go to Wattle Glen and get the first two soon. TFTC Long John Silver.

13-May-20
Life is taking its first faltering steps back towards normal... we still have a long way to go but at least we are allowed out... stay safe... keep your distance... and use hand sanitizer Wink

30-Mar-20
Helping those who can't help themselves... geocaching is a non-essential activity!!!
We're staying home from work for a reason... and it's not so you can go and find caches!!!

20-Jan-20
*Found on the 19 Jan 2020 @ 2:18 pm.*
*Cache find # 10635.*

Today, I headed off to Whittlesea for the first of the lead up events for the big one later in the year but once that was finished it was time to head in the direction of home and I was able to make my way passed this series once again and now I was heading in the right direction, lets see if I can now finish it.
This one was completely covered in spider webs so I used a tool to retrieve it, log was signed and I carefully put it back.

**Thanks to Long John Silva for placing this cache.**

04-Jan-20
Come across two of these so far. Some hike (!)

30-Dec-19
This series seemed like a very good idea, when suggesting we complete the series. Not such a good idea in reality, on a 42 degree day. We made slow progress, but had fun working out the multis and finding the trads. It’s a long walk for Scouts! A great series. Thanks for placing the cache Long John Silva.

23-Nov-19
Found on 8/11/19 with my caching partner, Marion133. Got behind with logging.

Tried to beat the weather that afternoon but ended up walking out into a storm. Luckily, we made it to the cache just before the rain started bucketing down.

The Geodog still had a great time despite the wind and the rain - the paddocks to our left must have had at least 50 kangaroos scattered across them until they hopped away to find shelter, so she spent her time chasing interesting smells. TFTC

09-Nov-19
Caching day around in Wattle Glen and Eltham for the day. Found all 6 without DNF and also a bonus cache too. Thanks Long John Silva for placing the caches and the It Seemed Like A Good Idea series from 1-6 and a bonus cache.

08-Nov-19
Easy find on a cold wet afternoon. Geo dog is having fun & so am I TFTC

08-Oct-19
On a wet Spring day and nice park and grab was a good option to keep my streak going and this cache fitted the bill perfectly. TFTC.

28-Sep-19
I was in the general area collecting some info for another cache and decided to find a couple of others while heading home.
Well I was in scouts as well but that was in the 70’s and the hikes were a little bit different and always involved a car ride back then.
My hiking now a days usually involves a 4wd first.
After finding #2 I continued along to this one signed the log then headed back to find the clue.
Thanks Long John Silva TFTC.

27/07/2019 18:28 I needed the hint. And with that it was a quick and easy find. Another one for my detective badges. TFTC Long John Silva TNLN SL

One the way home from work and need a cache for the day to maintain my streak and I just got here before the skies opened up. Quick find and sign, the rain started just as I got back in the geovehicle.
**Thanks for placing this cache Long John Silva**

My phone wanted me to look at the fence. It's not on the fence. When I looked elsewhere, I found it quickly. Thanks Long John Silva.

13-Jan-19
Too hard to write on. Very nice views.

06-Nov-18
After the dramas of the prior multi, a simple nano was very welcome. And with a 2-second search the caching deity was definitely repaying some positive karma.

Got back to the car and discovered a spare shoe had been dropped by the roadside - quite appropriate given the number of Melbourne Cup-goers that lose a shoe or two today.

13-Oct-18
Easy find. Really
Disappointing to see a pile
Of rubbish and stubbies just over the fence. What morons would do this?

Hey enjoyed reading about your bushwalk. I grew up in this area and to think of
People hiking
Out here is funny.....TFTC

06-Oct-18
Nearly 13 months between my last visit to a NO SHOW, but now I have arrived, to discover that I have not redownloaded required info from cache notes, but as I was about to leave in disgust, I noticed something odd about the post I was leaning on, quickly signed log and replaced as found, Thanks Long John Silva, all is good here today Clue noted for later finds

16-Sep-18
That’s three from three so far, let’s see if I can get them all! TFTC

08-Sep-18

Thanks for a quick one to add to our points

05-Apr-18
In the area with GemmaSistema hitting up the nearby geo art we decided to target this one, thanks for the hide.

05-Apr-18
A day of geocaching with wozzle68 today saw us complete the nearby geoart then hunt out some other nearby caches. A quick find here and onto the next one! Many thanks for the cache.

25-Mar-18
I came along this way on my way to Hurstbridge from Eltham. I am quite familiar with this stretch especially when it was all unsealed. Now that it is sealed right through to Wattle Glen that makes it a lot safer. This would have been a tough section of walking all those years ago on that fateful day which seemed like a good idea at the time, no doubt an unforgettable experience.
It was an overcast morning but muggy. No one around except about 20 birds that looked like currawongs squabbling over something.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

21-Mar-18
Found the cache thanks

New container...new location. At least this one isn't likely to be taken home for the fireplace.

10-Nov-17
Good to go again. Thanks for your patience.

20-Oct-17
Cache has gone...along with the bit of tree it was hidden in. I will need to find a new location so it will take me a little while.

20-Sep-17
Had a good look around GZ today, it seems that either a wood gatherer has attacked or natural destruction has made the tree very short, all evidence of recent FALL has been removed maybe as firewood, but I did not find any strange bits of plastic, only a small brown bottle type container made for CUB, not baby scouts either, I will return if/or when this has been found again

14-Sep-17
Got it

01-Aug-17
Head out for some night time searching in Research. Grabbed a couple of traditionals before starting the It seemed like series. Struggled with this one until reading a previous log suggested that the hint was out of date. Tftc

29-Jul-17
Still findable even with GZ changes. Tftc

08-Jul-17
Nice and easy find with Duckypange (who has finally created an account but doesn't have premium access yet). Nature certainly has made this more accessible, TFTC. Great road and lovely views too

01-Jul-17
I have been told that nature has intervened and while the cache is safe, it isn't as far off the ground as it once was...I have also been told it is still quite findable so I will leave it active for the time being as it will be a little while before I can get to check it out.

08-Jun-17
#909 -catching up on logs thanks for the cache

06-Jun-17
Couldn't find this

12-Mar-17
Out on a rare occassion with my non geo hubby grabbing a few caches while in the area. Enjoyed a pleasant drive and made an easy enough find here.
Thanks Long John Silva for placing the cache for us to find.

Out exploring the area and looking around the back roads.
Found the cache and a dog!
He was quite happy to sit in the car while we contacted the owners.
Log signed and dog returned to his owner.
TFTC and dog.

Trying to get to 500. The rain might have eased up enough to reach our goal.
