Called by to check this out on my way home and yes the tree has gone and it looks very bare in there without it. Thanks to all those that came to visit.
The large tree behind the church has been cut down, so if the cache was in the tree it is gone.
On a cache maintenance run up the valley this afternoon so stopped and checked on this one on my way past. No problems here.

[#4401] Unlike Christmas Day today was very sunny and we did not get any bit of rain. We started early with a visit to the adorable Te Waikoropupu Springs after which we drove towards the beach of the Golden Bay. We paused at Pohara and turned back when we reached Ligar Bay. As the Golden Bay was getting flooded with domestic tourists we took the opposite direction and via Takaka Hill we ended up in Tapawera where we spent the night. During our trip we visited several caches like this one. Thanks to all cache owners for making our visit even more fun and interesting.
It did not feel right here to tramp around the garden searching for the cache. Can't imagine someone would approve this placement. Would advice a more suitable spot.

Felt a bit uncomfortable digging in the backyard of the church but finally found the box
I felt a bit funny ducking in here and then found cache on the ground. Replaced higher. Thanks for the placement
Staying at the Music in the Mountains caravan rally this cache was the second closest to where my caravan was parked. But it was too hot (30C or very close to it) to walk anywhere at 12:30pm so I used my bike to reach this and all the other caches down on the flatlands. Fortunately this cache was hidden in shade. Thanks Isis58
I'm spending some time in Nelson & had decided I'd like to explore out in this direction. Never quick to start the day - so it was quite hot by the time I arrived at Tapawera.
Some interest from skitterish woolly creatures across the fence but all was otherwise peaceful.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Isis58.

Nice find at a lovely place during an overnight stop in Tapawera. Cache all good. TFTC
Another find while staying @ Tapawera. A lovely wee church. Had a few wild tiny plums from a tree nearby while looking for the cache. TFTC
Being a Sunday, this place was a hive of activity when we went past a short while ago so we didn't stop. Now it's lunchtime and everyone has gone so we can attempt to find the cache. GPS was telling the truth for this one and led us to another 'hive of activity' - bees. With GZ object in full bloom, every flower had a least one bee hovering around it. We managed to come away with a found log and no stings though. tftc
I decided to do some caching today starting in Tapawera and heading out towards Glenhope.
A nice old church.
Cheers for the cache.

Geo cycling the GTT over 3 days, picking up caches on the way. Day 2, motueka to tapawera. Short walk after a meal and beer at the pub. Found the rock, found the cache
Over the hill for a drive and grab a few caches, have to love all these old churches thanks Isis58 for the cache
Easy find my dad was just about to give up but I was like no dad don't give up so I found it dad's lucky I am here
No luck this time...could only find the foundation stone & I felt my phone was leading me off track down the back...might just been me and I'll have to try again another time tftc though!
Certainly not a straightforward find but I got there after a few minutes fossicking around. Thanks very much for the cache.
What a great find in Tapawera! Got a TB and $20 swap for a beautiful shell

Out on a maintenance run today so called by here to check on the cache after two DNFs. Sure enough the hole was bare but a good poke around in the leaf litter and there was the cache. It was quite exposed here today with no foliage on the tree so I went to move it but actually everywhere seemed to be exposed in someway or other so replaced with some small rocks on top which hopefully will keep it in place.
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who was staying for nearly six months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we followed the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Being in the South, the way now went up on the west coast back to the north. Crossing the Fjordland with its famous landscapes we've reached Te Anau to do a private flight over Milford Sound, then spend in Queenstown some time with the most spectacular activities ever done (Canyon jumping and Shotover canyon jetriding were some unforgetable experiences!) the way led us to the glaciers, up to the nice town of Westport and further to Abel Tasman Park to doing an unbelievable hike trough the park and an outstanding kayak tour with seal and bird watching.
Nelson, Picton; Cook Strait is waiting again for us.
Of course, even if was is not our main activity during this holidays, we were looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to Isis58 for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Took a while to find- about 350 degrees. Got the local dogs very excited. TFTC.
Found while here for a birthday party. Never been here before, but will probably come back again. Nice little church cache found after a bit of hunting. TNLNSL
Nice little church - would have liked to take a look inside but it was locked.
Approaching ground zero a bunch of sheep kept shouting directions from the other side of the fence - if only I could understand...

Found with 2wombles on our way back to Riwaka after a day at Quinnys Bush. Thanks for the cache.
This cache took a while to find as the neighbour had just arrived home. Found while heading to Riwaka. Thanks for the cache
Spent a while looking. See it was just found but neighbors around so moved on.
We liked this lovely old church. It took us a good while to find the cache but eventually shapr eyed Jules spotted it. We were glad all the flowers were past their best otherwise we may have given this a miss.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
TFTC, a while ago since we found these so took me a bit to remember how to upload from our gps.
A quick easy find at the start of a big day planned looping up to Motueka and then back to Nelson. There were curtains on the (container?) at the front of the properly and we didnt know if there was anybody in there so were quiet just incase. A beautiful painting of a dove on the side. (see photo) Thanks for the cache
Called into Tap to visit my grandmother after a weekend away, how could I leave a new cache that has popped up since my last visit. Thanks Isis58

A most enjoyable day on the road, I went to some places I’ve never been to before, and revisited some I hadn't been to for a while. The weather played its part as well with a fine day. 50+ caches along the way, so all in all a super day all round. After a break in town I started on my may back to Nelson. TFTC
Surrounded by working muggles on either side of the church yard but still managed to find the cache undetected. Thanks Isis58!!
Out for a day's caching today, on a loop from Wakefield, through Tapawera and Dovedale.
Despite lots of passing vehicles, I was able to discretely slip into the church yard to start my search. No one around at this time of day, so was able to make my way straight to the GZ. Two or three possible hiding places, but only one needed to hide the cache.
Found and signed. Thanks

Mrs SoBad and her sister called in here before a walk on the Shedwood Track. GPS pointed to a likely GZ - but there were 2 people in line of sight on the other side of the fence. So we left and walked. On our return, Mrs S left her sister finishing her iceblock in the car and went to where we had aborted the earlier visit. No-one nearby this time - then good coordinates made it a quick find. We just need a trip to Geraldine to find the one unarchived and unfound from the CO - might be a while sadly.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Missed the Christmas Day sevice,at 9am as we got here at Midday!!Luckily no one was about.Quickly found.TFTH
[green] Capperz called me up saying he wanted to get his ruby Busy Cacher badge, and try for 120 caches in a day. I said YES PLEASEE!!, as I too had tried this once before but only achieved 103 before night defeated me and Edvern in Auckland last year. A successful day, with over 130 caches found in 14.5 hours and 500km. Also tiring - I went to bed as soon as I got home, despite it not being dark yet (yes, we could have cached some more, but the next objective is 180 caches, and there was no way we would have achieved that!). Alas, I had to leave all the planning to Capperz, and he produced a great little plan, listing all the target caches (and more) with which way to turn at next intersection after a cache - a great way to plan a back road travel.
The day was cool, cloudy, with a little drizzle. Perfect caching weather - the weather kept most of the muggles away from the muggle areas.
Thanks to all the COs for a great day out exploring the back roads of the Marlborough region!
Logs signed as CS or occasionally as CapSeag.
My GPS hard warned me of flat batteries a few hours ago, and just as Capperz and I walked in the gate, they died. And I am currently out of charged batteries. So I just followed Capperz to the GZ. Man, what an awesome tree! Dark, too (or have my glasses gone dark? Anyway, I enjoyed this tree so much it gets a favourite and a pathtag. Now, back to the car to put the emergency battereis in, then to the shop for a replacement set. I have a set of chargeables charging now, as I write this log, and will have another set on next. Don't want to be caught out like that again!

A plan was hatched to try and grab a number of caches, in excess of 120 if possible. I had already found a load between Renwick and St Arnaud but consulting the map around St Arnaud area showed some semi power trail drive by caching opportunities. Fellow Manawatu cacher the Seagnoid was asked if he was interested and a resounding yes was the answer. So the car was fuelled up at very early o'clock and provisions for munching were also loaded. An 0630 start was the plan and the day came to its conclusion around 2130 after approx. 15 hours of driving and caching.
Outcome was a very successful figure in excess of 130 caches which constitutes best day ever (for both of us), best week, month and year too. Over 500kms driven today and man I feel tired but need to make a start logging the finds, and DNFs. Thanks to all the C Os involved in making our day such a great one. Nearly all caches were well maintained, interesting and accurately plotted. There were bellbirds, beech trees, pies and water, sealed roads, gravel tracks, no sandflies (thankfully), rivers and bridges and creeks and bridges and streams and bridges and much conversation about all things caching
A great day out in good company and all made possible by the efforts of the hiders.
T F T C to all the cache owners. We mostly signed as C/S or Capp/Seag or other combos

TFTC. Out to play for the weekend with the destination of Nelson. Caching crew on board were Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, logged as PKTT for this trip. Gosh did we have fun looking for caches, most of which we found, in this very beautiful part of our country.
A quick park and grab at a cute wee country church.
Thanks Isis58 for placing the cache.

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am and made our way to Nelson today. We drove heaps, laughed heaps, found heaps of caches and poke our noses here and there. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 9.30pm for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Quick one... onto the next. Nice to see this one in use.
Thanks for the cache.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
This was it - one of the caches on our big day
