Man.Vs.Cache I found your cache Bush Junkie Two on 17/9/2024, 12:00PM. This is my find 7037 and find # 6 today. Found it in the first place I looked. That was a bit of a workout. Not sure what was hardest, going up or down. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Thank goodness I found this one after spending far too long looking for Bushjunkie 1! Cache and log are doing fine. Day number 59 of my daily find streak and it's ridiculously hot for the end of Winter! TFTC
After spending 30min unsuccessfully looking for BJ1, I continued on up the hill. A beautiful day to be doing this walk. Got me out of breath but not too hot. A quick scramble and thankfully an easy find here. I was planning to go all the way to the top of the track but I had lost too much time already so I headed back down the steep track. TFTC!
Bit of a goat track up to this one but made it in the end. Definitely need to get a little fitter.
Cheers

As previous cachers had noted, the slope between bush junkie one and bush junkie two is good to get the heart rate up. Was out and about with the dog this afternoon and was able to get both of these caches ticked off. Clambered up the slope until I hit the crossroad then off to the left. Before I knew it I had gone too far, and doubled back to find the hide. There were a couple of likely spots here, and it wasn’t long until the cache container was in hand. All is good with this cache. The log book is dry and was quickly signed and returned. Thanks very much for a good afternoon’s exercise man.vs.cache. Cheers
Chasing a cache a day for a particular challenge I have set myself and today I needed just one more to keep the tally ticking over. Wow this was a nice little walk, very quiet today at the moment. Cache was found and all good with log and container. Thanks for placing it here. I replaced as found and made my way back.
Out chasing some caches to help qualify for challenges today. And a few strays that I was passing too. My original plan was to attack these two from the bottom, but then I noticed I had a few other caches I wanted to do that were on Samuel Griffin Drive.
From the top it was. A short stroll to GZ and a reasonably quick find thanks.

This evening after work, I decided to go for a quick mountain jog/climb, and target the *Bush Junkie* geocaches from The Gap. My vehicle navigator took me the wrong way through the side streets, and so I decided to park at a dead-end, and progress on foot through the foot path shortcuts. It was a steep trek up, but nevertheless good fitness. I selected a couple of remaining miscellaneous geocaches to visit before returning home.
A long walk up the hill, and I could see that this would have kept going all the way to the ring route of Mount Coot-tha. After checking a few spots, it was a quick find of this cache in a logical hiding spot. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and as karicka mentioned in his log, there appeared to be a few names missing. Thanks Man.Vs.Cache for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Came in from the top as I’m training for a multi day walk. Quick find and all good with the cache. Tftc
I had more time to kill after finding Bush Junkie One and my physio had said that I could slowly return to my normal activities to see how my bung knee goes. I’m not sure they exactly meant this kind of activity but you never know how your body’s going to hold up unless you try. Perfect day for it with rain clouds just starting to form, keeping me nice and cool as I scale the ‘mountain’. A few places to check around GZ but I soon spotted the classic disguise and revealed the cache. All good here. TFTC Man.Vs.Cache
Was doing a few short walks this morning, logging some of the less accessible caches.
This area has been prepared for a burn.
The cache was out in the open. Replaced it out of sight.
The log seems to be missing a few names
Thank you for hiding this geocache man.vs.cache

A previous find - many years ago. Great to see it is still active. I was just walking past this morning and it hadn’t been re-hidden very well. Could easily see it from the track. I have covered it again. - keep-on-caching!
A nice morning walk up to gz where after a short search I found my first cache for 2020. Tftc!
Our little toddler walked all the way up the hill. Champion. I was less of a champion as I walked past the cache several times, and the better half bagged the cache. TFTC. Now back down the hill we go!
A free Sunday morning, so I put together a list of unfound caches to grab and headed out to Ashgrove and The Gap.
I have often considering walking down from the top of the mountain to grab this cache and its twin, but always thought it more sensible to head up from the bottom. The right side of the track has recently been burnt off and the smell of bushfire is still on the nose.
At GZ, the phone would not settle, so I searched all likely spots as per the hint. An extended search over 20 minutes before i moved some camo to uncover the hide. The walk back down the hill was treacherous with yesterdays rain cover the track with deco, which was like ball bearings under foot.
Thanks Man V Cache

Found. Log later. Need water!
...Later...
[spoilers...kind of...do not keep reading if concerned; although nothing more than the clue from cache owner already says]
Thanks for the second cache Man.Vs.Cache!
I started off the walk thinking, "Man.Vs.Cache should make more than two Bush Junkie caches along this trail" but by the time I got uphill, I confess I wasn't thinking that any longer.
This would be because I came unprepared - on the spur of a moment - with no water [for geodog or me] and no hair tie [to stop my long hair sticking to the back of my neck]. And I should have come in the cool of the morning (pre-7am) but it was more like 11am by the time I got back to the car. At least I had a hat!
I have lost a lot of my fitness this past year. Too much time in front of the computer studying/working and not enough exercise/geocaching. So I took the hill slowly with regular stops! It was HOT! By the time I got to GZ, I think I'd lost my cache-finding-sensibilities somewhere along the bush track because I found myself thinking, "Which log?". And I think I searched EVERYWHERE except the right place before eventually finding it. After all, as tired as I was from that walk, I wasn't going back without my name in the log book!
Also should have worn better shoes. With geodog Cherry pulling the leash, it was difficult going back downhill too.
The sign at MetroWest shops on the way home put the temperature as 31 degrees celcius so I think my water-less struggle uphill was definitely added to by this factor.
The funniest thing is, I pulled into McDonald's drive-through at Kenmore on the way home. I asked them for iced water for me. And for water in a McFlurry cup for geodog Cherry! They obliged. And I ordered a frozen Fanta just because I felt obliged to get something!

A lovely vely walk in the drizzling rain on Saturday afternoon. It is very quiet out here today, as I suspect most people have decided to stay indoors rather than brave the rare wet weather. It was a quick find at GZ and the log was signed before we continued on our walk. A beautiful area to explore!

Having successfully converted BJ1 into a smilie Mrs VC was urging me on to this one (from the airconditioned comfort of the Geo-Beast).
It felt like I had been walking for ages & not being forewarned that I was coming up here I was not equipped with my hiking pole, water bottles or trail mix.
Not one of my best experiences (LOL …) but I pushed on.
Focussing on the birds calling through the trees & undergrowth the time & distance passed quicker now & I soon found myself looking at the cache.
I thought the walk back out would be easier but it was a whole different ballgame, less exhausting but slippery as. LOL ...
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Contemplated asking for a piggy back but knew request would be denied! Pity about the extra 50m taking the wrong track! TFTC!
Heading up the hill from the lower junkie twin, had the choice of two tracks to take to access this cache. Found the right track to GZ on the second attempt and it only cost me an extra 50 metres of walking.
Spotted what was eventually the log that housed the cache and was not looking forward to poking around it. So just as I was ready to ascend the bank noted an appropriate wood covering then the cache container. Thanks for placing this cache Man.Vs.Cache.

Huffing and puffing my way down from the top, I very quickly spied the hidey hole for this one. Signed the log and continued down the trail with my sights set on Bush Junkie One. Thanks, man.vs.cache.
I've been eyeing off Bush Junkie One and Two for quite awhile, but the opportunity had never presented itself for me to visit. Well at least not until today I had some time up my sleeve and I was visiting the area, so I thought I'd follow the trail down the hill from Mount Coot-tha. It was a really pleasant walk in to this cache, there were birds everywhere, including some very cute fire-tail finches, that were chattering at me as I walked by. It didn't take me too long to get to GZ, wow, there are so many spots to look. I checked here and searched there, but didn't come up with anything. I was using my phone offline which is not super accurate, so I stopped and loaded the coords into the GPS. As I popped in the final number, I just happened to look close to where I'd just been searching, but on a different angle. Hang on a minute, that looks interesting...aha! There you are you sneaky thing I was very pleased to get this one signed, TFTC man.vs.cache
After finding a nearby cache, I decided to continue up the hill to this one. How steep could it be? At each bend in the track, all I could see was more up!! After stopping to catch my breath several times, I came to a relatively flatter area. I checked my phone to discover that I wasnt far from the cache I made my way to GZ, only to discover that the approaching storm was making the GPS part of my phone jump around like crazy. I put my bag down and began searching here and there. After about five minutes, I spotted something a little odd right next to where I had left my bag! Further investigation revealed the cache. I signed the log, returned the cache to its hiding spot and then made my way back down the hill as the thunder got louder. TFTC
TFTC... 31Oct2016. Whooooo! Tough Mothers day out found a further steep walk in, seems it might be worse going back but it wasn't. Logged it and worked our way back to the road.
Slightly perspiring coming up the hill today and it isn't that hot yet! Good to get the heart going. Tftc
Collected with lisylou missussan jemilalucy remsjw and mnance101 good up walk
Out caching with Remsjw, Misssusan, Lisylou, Jemillalucy and Bennyboppers. Quite a hike. TFTC!
Bush Junkie Two still in place, unaffected by recent council burnoff which was further down the hill.
It requires a bit of climbing and I found a beetle in the cache but otherwise it is in good condition. A nice location TFTC.
Good hiding spot! Nice find after a sweaty walk up hill. Cache in good condition. TFTC
Second BushJunkie find, on the "flatter" part of the trail ride. Saw two likely hide spots on approach. Should have trusted my instincts, and not the phone. TFTC!
Well that little walk took a bit more out of me then I expected, but that is likely the heat in the sun today, I can say one thing, not looking forward to summer at all.
Anyway I got to GZ after a bit of puffing and without to much trouble had the cache in hand and my name in the log. Next challenge getting back to the car without slipping on the trail with the wrong sort of shoes on.

Cache temporarily removed due to scheduled burn off in this area. Will be back in September.
I was out geocaching around Mt Coot-tha for the day with Dylb77. We don't do thinks the easy way, we do the terrain 5 way whenever possible, or so it seems... We walked down to this cache, man that hurts the knees, and then we walked through long grass covering invisible holes (as Dylb77 less than gracefully found out [:p]). You don't meed to go that way, we discovered. Happy to sign the log. it then took us an hour to get back up the top, we avoided scaling the T5 way we came down, took a longer but mostly flatter way back and then had to walk about a km back to the car at the top. TFTC
This was the 4th cache for the day with Karenhippo and by far the most painful, somehow managed to turn this T3, into a T704! Not only did we take the steep uneven walk down but we also found out when we were about 100m away that we were in fact on the wrong path and ended up bush bashing through some of the longest grass I've ever seen, after finding an invisible hole in the grass and having a quick lie down lol we pushed on, signed the log. Took us an hour to walk back to the car, next time I'll read ALL the description. lol
TFTC!

Out and about today doing a maintenance run for my nearby series.
Afterwards I headed to these two caches.
A successful find at the lower cache and then the slog up the track to this one.
A bit of searching before finally spotting this one.
Thanks for the cache.

today we had a lot of fun when we visited Mt Coot-ha, finding this cache went with it, tftc
A good hill climb and a pleasant spot. Lots of caching potential in the area. TFTC
My, what a hill, and I have to climb back up it shortly! Started at the top near BTQ (Can't call it channel 7 because in digital it is really channel 6!) Have never walked this track, and didn't even know it existed, but certainly know now.
Looked first on the other side of the track where the GPS wanted to be, then went over to the dark side, and soon found the cache all sung and secure. TNLN TFTC. Now to try a bit more descent to the fellow cache.

Thanks for the cache. It was good fun to find after i realized it wasn't where i thought it was. Good fun cache.
In need of some exercise and in possession of a TB that needed moving on, I decided to head out in search of this cache as an afternoon walk. The best approach from my side of town was at the top so, with the car parked near Channel 7, I made my way down, down, down - steep, but not as steep as several tracks on the other side of the mountain.
At GZ, the GPSr was not cooperating enough to give a definite point to search but after walking around and around (and over thinking the hide), I eventually spotted what could only be the location of the cache. Added my name to the log book and dropped in the UEC TB - I took it from a cache in a similar location to where it now resides - on the central mountain of a capital city (Black Mountain in Canberra).
From there it was a case of "wonder where this track goes" - and finding my way back up the hill to be at Channel 10. A short walk back along the road and I was on my way. Thanks for the cache and the motivation to get out for a walk.

I approached this cache from uphill and stepped carefully to avoid falling. The find was rewarding, the trek back uphill less so. An exhausting find!
I think I have had plenty of exercise in the last couple of days to last a while.
It did take us a bit longer than 15 minutes to climb this big hill, try 40 minutes to an hour but we got there.
GPS led me straight to the cache.
Did not need spoiler photo.
Easier coming down but had to walk down side as the gravel was very slippery in the centre.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Man.Vs.Cache / DeGGG All good with this cache
Thanks for the exercise, I'm beat now

Walked from Simpson Fall Picnic Area, was nice walk. 3 of us tried hard to locate the cache for 20mins, but no luck. Is it upside of the track or bottom side? We followed hint but could not find. We need to come back sometime here again...
One of my work places is close to this cache, but usually I'm too tired in the afternoon to think about going caching, so hadn't noticed it before. And on Tuesday when I had some spare time and I actually discovered it, I was dressed in jeans and sandals (not very smart for a steep, dirty walk) so decided to leave it until today. Happily this morning I had the company of my daughter and she was keen for a walk, so we made our way to the start, and right from the get-go, that's steep!!! And dirty!!! And by the time we got to GZ 11 minutes later, I was hot and sweaty
As we arrived I figured I had a couple of spots to search, but happened to look at just the right one and made the find first go A very pleasant way to enjoy the outdoors on a sunny winter day. I took a photo of the gate and the number of this walk is actually 130. Photo is attached. TFTC, Man.Vs.Cache.

I made an adventure out of this one. I guess I was pondering other things as I wandered up the hill. Then looking at my phone it said the cache was just 30 meters that way.
Ok grass doesn't look too bad... to start with... oh well wading through grass is not so bad for 30 meters. Then of course I tumble out onto a path. Hmm how did I not notice that one. Would have been easier.
Then my magic arrow indicates a whole bunch of places that aren't the were the cache is. So up and down and over... no luck.
So I read the hint and look just there and ah, ok.
Thanks Man Vs Cache. This time I think the cache one There are a few new tracks like this on popping up. Thanks for showing me one I hadn't seen before.

A venture up this "small" incline today with the geodog before work. I stopped the car at the bottom of the trail; 120? this said 130 and having driven up the road to check if I missed the entry, the GPS map said this was most direct route.
A couple of breather stops along the way and made use of the helpful clue as I honed into GZ. A quick look up and there it was as described!
Perfect day to get it too as cooler weather made it not such a hot climb. A slow and steady decent and back to the car. TFTC Man.vs.Cache

This was one of only 2 remaining caches to be found for me around Mt Coot-tha so I just had to clear this one off while in the area today. After a long day of caching it was good to get the blood flowing and muscles working with an energetic walk up the hill. The GPS originally had me a sligt distance away from GZ but once it settled down and with the aid of the clue I soon had everything sorted. Left a TB. Tftc
Took a little detour on the way to work this morning as a couple of Green boxes on my map were annoying me.
Now whilst I did manage to ride up to the cache (only just in one part) the rest of the journey up this little hill was done by 'push bike'
This was indeed little hill to climb/ride http://connect.garmin.com/course/6574891

I felt the need for a cache find on such a nice day but time was short, so it was only late in the day when I could start my run, and even then I was only permitted a 70min leave pass as we were going out with friends that evening.
For some reason, I decided that it would be faster to go down to the cache than up, so I zipped up and around to the TV stations, pulled over and looked for the best trail down.
My descent commenced with the always ominous observation that it looked incredibly steep, and while they are usually fun to run down, I wasn't wearing good shoes for jogging, so I ran when I could but generally just kind of slipped and slid all the way down the 400m to the cache. I found it after a little bit of this and that (glad I went round the bend rather than take on long grass) and then took off speedily for the top.
My time limit meant I pushed myself a bit more than I normally would and by golly, I was really puffing hard all the way: definitely one of the hardest climbs I've had for a while. I was almost seeing stars (and not just the Channel Seven billboard) and was coughing a lot, having stirred up my chest. Fortunately, I managed a fairly swift recovery and a nice hot shower was helpful in the process (I was back home right on the buzzer by the way).
TFTC and experience here today. I was reminded just how much space for caches there is around here, so stand by!

Never knew of this track and it was certainly an eye opener, well an eye opener on how I really need to get into better shape. [xx(]
At GZ, I searched for a little while until I spotted a likely looking place and there was the cache.
With the log book signed, I finished off the trail to the top of the mountain, hopefully the start to my regime on getting fitter
Thanks

Argh second! Phew quite a steep walk, made it with geodad, geomum, geokids and geobub fast asleep. Left a few swag for kids. Tftc.
I walked this track when it was first pushed in ... and resolved not to do so again ... it is a hard way to get up the mountain!
