Thanks to everyone who attended the 2nd Annual Dönerstag in Sydney on Döner's Day! Look forward to carrying on the tradition in 2016 and we may try to find an alternative location somewhere in the city for something different. If you have any suggestions please feel free to message me in the meantime. Although it is time to archive this event, you can still log your attendance if you are yet to do so. Hope to see you all at next year's Dönerstag in Sydney!
JordsAU, I am quite proud to learn that you managed to let the German tradition live in Sydney
Greetings to all of you and have a good time in Down Under!
...EDIT: Postcard arrived (virtually )...

I misread the description and arrived at 5:30. Enjoye the kebab. Had to head to another meeting
Maggie and I just happened to be able to make this one. It was fun talking to everyone. Had a great time.TFTE
I first noticed this event in an email months ago. At the time, I didn't know whether I would have time to attend or whether I was brave enough to go meet fellow cachers. When the day finally rolled around I had overcome my fear of meeting cachers by attending several events. So when I rocked up I recognized a few faces and a few more aliases. Got to have a good chat with some of the locals. I was just finished my gozleme when a cry went around the table that a new cache had been activated. So as a group we descended en masse to the nearby GZ. Thanks for the surprise Rheneas.
Finally in the WIFI zone and logging. Our (GeoHunter.. and mine) event outside of USA. Visiting my daughter in Sydney this week and the stars lined up that we were able to attend. It was really nice to meet the local and the traveling geocachers. The CO was utmost hospitable and provided us with some helpful information. During the event new caches published nearby, we only had enough energy to tag along for just one.

I arrived shortly after 6:30pm after the bus ride in caused me a bit of grief when approaching the centre of town. I made the walk over to Harbourside and was greeted by about 10 fellow cachers. I was pretty hungry so we didn't muck around - got straight into the kebab
It was nice to meet some new faces including a few international visitors from New Jersey, Colorado and Sweden. It's always interesting to hear what they think of our local Geocaches and what kind of caches they have in their countries.
There were also a handful of familiar faces who have attended the last couple of events around town in the past couple of months, namely birdman2099, miss_sparklz and pk1965.
As we sat around and conversed, someone at the table noticed a couple of brand new caches had just been published only a few moments prior. Everyone stood up out of their seats and off we all went for a grand-combined First to Find. After a successful mission on the first one we then attempted the multi which was 2/2 in the freshly published caches which was also a success.
I enjoyed the meet and greet and look forward to the next one. Thanks for hosting a great event JordsAU, the timing was impeccable for the newly published caches

Thanks JordsAu for organising the Donerstag Event. It was great to meet other GCers. I learnt a lot. Thanks Rheneas for your two Gifts, your timing was perfect, it was a lot of fun roaming around Darling Harbour at night as a group of GCers with a shared goal, to be Twin FTF's for Man Overboard and Darling of the Harbour. Great job guys! Nice to meet our OS GC guests EstesLynne, Ivia, Maggie and Geohunter.
A nice chance to catch up with some faces to match the usernames. Following the event we raced off to have a couple of group FTF of the newly published caches.
Great event and thanks for the introduction to the local version of kebabs! Met some new people, a few old ones including a few faces to put with familiar names. Then up popped some new local caches, and we were off like the frenzied bunch we are to score those. Lots of fun and three of us went down to Central even later for the UV cache down there--wow, it's hard to stop caching once you start. Thanks for all of it!
Happy Döners Day everyone! I caught a bus from home into the city and braved the end of the week / start of the long weekend peak hour traffic. It was a slow journey into town and I waited for Jase90 at the Queen Victoria Building before walking over to Darling Harbour for the event. We made it just in time for the beginning of the event time and a number of geocachers were already there when we arrived. It was great meeting our visitors from New Jersey, Colorado and Sweden plus catching up with a mix of both new and regular locals over a vegetarian felafel kebab (yum!). The log for the event was a postcard showing the shear size of the Australian continent compared to Europe and the nations, and I will be sending it to our geocaching friend Carkla who can be credited for bringing the tradition of celebrating Döners Day in Sydney! It was a good turn-out and an enjoyable meet and greet event, thanks to all those who attended. At the end of the event, we noticed a couple of caches had been published nearby and the group went off to attempt a joint First To Find together, including the Man Overboard! Traditional Cache and the Darling of the Harbour Multi Cache. Looking forward to carrying on the tradition next year and if anyone has a suggestion for a different venue, please feel free to nominate between now and early next year. Cheers! "JordsAU.
I had a great night at Darling Harbour eating pizza, meeting geocachers, and being in the group joint FTFs on 2 new GCs, Man Overboard and Darling of the Harbour.
I will be there around 6:30. Currently on the bus sitting in good old fashioned Parramatta Road traffic. See you all soon
Happy Döners Day everyone! Looks like we will have a decent turnout - thanks to those who have already posted a Will Attend log. It's not too late to do this if you are planning on coming along, so please get on it and don't forget to drop any trackables into the event if you have any to share. See you all 6:30pm this evening at the food court near the kebab place (at the published coordinates).
Unfortunately I am unable to attend this event due to other commitments, I hope it goes well! All going to plan, I have organized a small post-event surprise for attendees.
Really wanted to come tonight, but have just woken up ~6:30pm from catching up on some afternoon sleep (having barely slept during exams this week), and still feeling really zonked out, so not up to treking into the city tonight. Hope you guys have fun
Great little event. Met some new faces and some old as always.
Had a kebab, found a few caches and talked with some cachers... can't complain
Thanks JordsAU for the event- will try and make next year!

A great evening especially being able to faces to handles, then a group cache find.
Unfortunately my "will attend" log has to change to "wish I could attend".
I'm moving houses and need to go pack up coz I have a deadline
My event with JordsAu and I can't make it

Hi Jendid, I don't know of too many licenced kebab shops but if you do, let me know and it could be a good venue for next year for something different. The good news is that we'll be in Darling Harbour and there are many licenced bars within walking distance for before and after the event. Doners Day is officially the Thursday before Easter Friday. Hope you can make it!
I will bring my UV light if anyone wants to head down to Central for Muggle Railways UV either before or (preferably) after the event...similarly, I will solve Wait In Arch if anyone is willing to be my monkey (I can't climb but can solve puzzles). These two are each about 1-1.5 kilometers from the event in opposite directions, but it's always fun to grab them as a gang. I may not climb, but I walk fast and far...
Hello..I´m a german Geocacher..and soon a australien Backpacker..^^

Might attend with Drillerboy86, just waiting to confirm flights into Sydney. We will be there for Easter weekend.
Too bad... I visit Sydney for business the week before so I can not attend. Just want to send some greetings from good old Germany and have fun on Dönerstag
Sorry, will be on my way to the mega in Qld if not already there, as the registrations start on the Thursday.
GeoHunter.. and I will be in Sydney and it looks like this event is pretty close to our hotel. We would love to meet the local cachers and hear how it is done on your side of the globe.
Right now we are struggling with the maps - would anyone have any suggestions what can we use in the Oregon 450. Also any suggestions for local caches would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be back in Sydney for a few weeks and this date will likely work out well, yay! Bring any trackables that want to go to the US, or just want miles, and I'll oblige. Hoping to see a few familiar faces.
I think this is another terrible day for me like last year. Shame because there's nothing better than a Kebab.
I'll try to make it but no guarentees.
