Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU.

#4604Like so many before us we were looking on the wrong side of the fence. We left defeated but returned today to make a quick find. Log sheet is wet and soggy, just managed to sign it. Thanks for the cache.

02-Dec-23
Really not sure where to search now, looked behind wall, trees, spiky bushes, everything, can't find

29-Nov-23
Any possibility of clearing the way to this cache? Ouch is very much a fitting title. But the state this area is in right now its literally impossible to get to the cache without pruning shears or something. Attempted this with my wee one (only 3 now) about a year ago.. thinking it was along the walking path.. close to my home. But hope. Appears to be on highway side & unless you want your face shredded, you wont be able to access it. If I get another chance I will bring my cutters on my own. Definetly not suitable for kids of any age.

14-Aug-23
Caching in the Berwick area with pinnacle333, we did a variety of caches including Wherigo, virtual and Ad Lab.
Having followed the trail to the wrong place a long time ago, we made a successful find today after much circling and a few ouches. Thanks Pinkpiggy7.

14-Aug-23
Out for the day with echidna44 in Berwick. We didn't seem to take enough care and got a few spikes while finding this one. TFTC!!

10-Jul-23
Found this one and after reading the COs last comment managed to weave my way to the cache and found it nicely camouflaged with native flora. Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for placing the cache . EDIT- fortunately this was still on my watchlist and a notification popped up .. still had the draft waiting

14-Apr-23
Ouch!

31-Jan-23
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

GPS is spot on but I chose not to believe it for sometime, a few unnecessary pricks more than I needed to receive interesting trees.

> Ouch, we got pokked a few times as we looked for this on, eventually spotted him as CO said, 'just haning around' not a bad weather day to look as the ominous sky was keeping muggles away.

Log is a little damp, but able to write on it with nil issues. TFTC

02-Nov-22
I started looking for this one on the wrong side of the wall, but I sorted that out after reading a few logs. Once on the correct side, I quickly found a path into the spiky trees. I looked and looked everywhere and gave up. But then I returned, and I gave up. But then I returned and pushed in as far as possible. And then I gave up, but no, I must have this cache!!!

Reading the log from the CO that said they don't get spiked gave me a clue, and I looked for the paths of least resistance. Finally, I collected that cache which was different from what I suspected. I think it took me about 25 mins to find this little sucker.

All is good with the cache, but the log was a little wet. The terrain or difficulty could be upgraded based on the time it takes to find. Thanks for the fun and the different hide.

BTW I was researching these trees, and I found they're known as 'monkey puzzles'.

13-Sep-22
Forgot to log my DNF from yesterday! Will come back soon for another look!

13-Sep-22
So after realising that the GPS was actually spot on, and what we thought was preventing us getting to that spot, wasn’t actually preventing us getting to that spot we came back for a quick look and soon had the cache in hand. It’s very damp inside the cache though. Found with FairyDust01

27-Jul-22
Ouch ouch ouch into the woods we go with a few spikes through my jeans to show.

Thanks for this last cache on RoamingHowie and my journey today in the rain.

27-Jul-22
What a miserable day to be outside… bring on spring! I caught up with Kristysadventures for an opportune stroll along this trail.

A great way to finish the trail with only 2 DNFs. A little ouch there but not too bad and a quick find at GZ once we were on the right side. Thanks for hiding the whole series.

Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

Out on a hunt for RATs to use for work (don't worry, I'm covid free and sanitised!) I was in the area and managed to find 5 for $49.95, what a bargain haha! I then switched over to my more enjoyable hunt, geocaching!

Having read some of the logs before heading in here I was surprised when I thought I was near GZ and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Although there was a cute kingfisher curiously watching me. That's when, like others, I realised I wasn't near GZ! So I approached from another angle and understood what the hype was about. I felt like I was stepping into a Dr Seuss book! Verrry carefully stepping in at that.

Seeing that the COs had been through and noted that they managed to avoid the spikes here I was determined to do the same. As I wandered and squatted and ducked and stomped around for about half an hour I was happy to have managed to keep my skin intact so far. I can't say that my hair wasn't full of spiderwebs or that the mozzies hadn't got to me though.

As always, I was about to admit defeat when I circled back around a spot I'd been before, there it is! I had my eyes on the prize, reached up to grab it and immediately got stuck by a thorn just as I turned the container open. So close haha!

Thanks for the cache Pinkpiggy7!

To many people are finding our caches in breach of lockdown provisions, disabling until things are open again.

06-Sep-21
Found it TFTC

14-Feb-21
TFTC. Hard find but got there eventually. GZ spot on.

31-Jan-21
Ouch indeed. A less than salubrious location and a DNF for us.

02-Jan-21
All good, it is there because we chose to place it there, we never get scratched looking for it

29-Dec-20
DNF. Not sure why the cache is placed in the spikes area which does not make sense! Move it elsewhere where it is safe for the cachers!

08-Dec-20

08-Mar-20
Ouch indeed. That was painful!! You’ll want to stop but keep pushing through!

08-Mar-20
Well that sucked. No pain no gain I suppose. NoTFTC

07-Mar-20
OUCH!!!

05-Mar-20
I’m trying to fill in some dates on my calendar so this one was going to be today’s. No luck for me with this one though

Thanks Pinkpiggy7, I’ll try again another day

06-Feb-20
I forgot my pen! Sad
But found my first ever one! Yay

19-Dec-19
I had a dnf here quite some time ago and was perplexed to see others find this after me. I did some further research and discovered something that made me feel very silly! So today I gave it another shot and I definitely found the Grove of evil, horrible, torturous trees! However it took me about 30 mins of searching to find this, hallelujah! Glad I can tick that one off, yewouch!

16-Dec-19
That hurt a lot

08-Nov-19
I was out this way doing a couple of Adventure Lab caches this afternoon and managed to try a few others along the way as well. Having headed from Cranbourne to Berwick I was now heading back towards Dandenong. Buoyed by correcting a DNF at the previous one I headed here to see if I could right my previous failure at this one too. At first it was a familiar feeling scenario and then I had a light bulb moment. As Holmes said 'when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth'. And so it proved today. I was delighted to spot this one and finally tick it off the list. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Pinkpiggy7. Nicely played, this one earns a favourite point from me.

20-Oct-19
Well this one took us waaaayyyyy longer than it should have. Step1: look on the right sight of the wall! Spent about 15 mins on the wrong side, thinking the GPS must be off when I couldn't get close than 7 metres. We were running out of time as we had to get back home, but I was determined not to record a DNF. Told the boys to wait there, and I went around the other side. As soon as I hit 0 metres, there it was (and now I get the name!). Easy as! Ahh well, we got there in the end. TFTC Smile

30-Jul-19
Another DNF - my second in a row. I had a look for it but couldn't find it today.

My thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for placing it.

21-Jul-19
All right, luck was on my side today. Still took a little while to locate and the GPS was not completely useless. A favourite point for the series, of which this was the last to be found. In good condition.

02-Jul-19
Started our journey here today. Found the entry to GZ and sent the geokids in first, heard when they found the spikey trees Smile after a short search we traded who was watching the bikes and the cache was soon to hand. TFTC

18-Jun-19
Spiky af

18-Jun-19
Doing this at night is so scary

13-Jun-19
I did this one the hard way. Parked 500m away walked up the path to GZ. Never seen spikey tree's like these before. When gps settled I sat at the bottom of the tree and looked up. 5 seconds later I saw it! And to think I was dreading this one because of all the DNFs. Maybe is was easy cause I had my lucky boots on? Thanks Pinkpiggy.

26-Apr-19
Hmmm. I'm sure it is hanging around, somewhere. Other than pure luck, not sure how one could spot it amongst the dense foliage.

16-Mar-19
If your aim is to have this area trampled by cachers then you have succeeded .

14-Mar-19
TFTC. Great spot. On the trail today

27-Jan-19
I did the vast majority of this series a few months ago and was in the area today with the task of finishing it off. A long search here was fruitless - if its the container Im thinking it is, then Im pretty sure it is not here. Will watch and wait...

27-Jan-19
Happened to be only 10 minutes away when this one came in, so a slight detour, and the cache is still there just waiting.

08-Jan-19
Just could not locate it

03-Jan-19
I did my homework before attempting this one. We were both dressed appropriately, sweltering in our jeans, shoes and socks as this was our target cache of the day.

We took the correct path in and started our very careful, slow search. Poor Geo hubby, he copped a fair few spikes. I on the other hand, received none. Sounds easy. No, it wasn’t. We were hunting for about half an hour when I had another look around the first area I checked and found the well camo cache. Thank goodness, thought we may never of found this one. Geo hubby was pretty happy too, as he wiped blood off his hands and arms:)

Thanks Pinkpggy7, this was a challenge and I’m glad we won’t have to come back. I don’t think I would be lucky a second time not to receive an “ouch”

01-Jan-19
Step #1. Google what a Mega Bison is and work out how big it is.
Step #2. Identify that you are looking in the wrong place.
Step #3. Find the cache
Thanks

30-Dec-18
I could work out why my gps was saying what it was saying. And then I looked to the sky and was pointed in the right direction.

In the interests of finishing 2018 without logs owing these logs will be somewhat generic, #sorry #notsorry #butkindofsorry.

Nearly three years ago Little Ruverbug and I, back near the beginning of our geocaching adventures put a call out on a social media geocaching site asking for recommendations for local trails of caches that were fun. A couple of people suggested PP7 Hallam Bypass Trail. So Little Ruverbug and I walked (she walked party and I pushed her in a pram part of the way) the western end. These caches were right at the end of our first 100 that we found.
Since then we've found another 600 including going to the centre of specifically for an event (and building a holiday around that).
Some of my all time faves have been PinkPiggy7 caches.

Thanks for placing and maintaining your ace caches PP7.
Maybe it's end of year nostalgia but you make caching in south east Melbourne fun.

29-Dec-18
Found at 1515 on a post-Christmas caching stroll with Muggle-L and now SirJ-Oz. SirJ had attempted this one previously with no luck, and so was hoping that the additional sets of eyes would provide a better chance of spotting the hide. We hunted around for way too long - much to the amusement of the neighbours across the road, we think - and searched the same areas over and over again, looking for the flash of inspiration that would lead to a find.

My GPSr wouldn't get me closer than 8m to the coords, but I put that down to the general flakiness that has plagued it on recent caching runs. Muggle-L decided that there wasn't nearly enough of an 'ouch' factor where we were, and after checking previous logs and actually looking at the map I realised where the error was. We relocated, and SirJ was rewarded a quick find.

I guess the moral of all this is that, if your GPSr says that you've still got a ways to go, you should believe it!

Thanks for the cache Pinkpiggy7 - SirJ was relieved to finally tick it off his list, and I was happy just to get away with minor scratches!

Find #4068. Found @ 15:16 with AmethystPig and Muggle-L

My self-appointed challenge for the year is to get 1000 finds for the year. To finish that challenge off, Muggle-L and AmethystPig came with me to find the few remaining caches... and a couple more. 5 to go.

AmethystPig, Muggle-L and my family (The Good Lady Wife, skirrel and j-bean) had been out for lunch as a preface for some caching. My family were not enthused about the caching, so I took them home while AP and Muggs did some of the series that I'd already done. The plan was to meet up here. I had previously DNFed this one on a previous solo visit, so wanted to have another crack at it. Muggle-L and AmethystPig had also done a previous section with me.

I arrived on site, and walked along the trail to meet the guys, then we came here. We looked in the wrong place for a while, as the neighbours wondered what the crazy people were doing. Despite the cache searching being punctuated by the occasional 'Ouch!', Muggle-L decided that the area where we were not looking was not ouchie enough. After AmethystPig checked the satellite map, there was a better option closer to the coordinates. So we relocated and I immediately made the find on getting there.

Good to turn the sad face into a smiley one.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Pinkpiggy7

29-Dec-18
Yay - finally found by SirJ-Oz after spending quite a bit of time looking in the wrong place much to the amusement of the neighbours. AmethystPig did a bit of past log checking and Muggle-L bemoaned that trees were not ouchy enough.. so some recalculating and with the discovery of a nice big grove of ouchy trees and the cache was in hand.

18-Dec-18
Mum joined us today, glad she did, we would have been looking in the wrong place for ages. The best thing was she also found her first cache. Now she is hooked and want to do more.
This one was very painful for all of us.

13-Dec-18
*13 Dec 2018, Found @9:41 pm, Find # 2307.*

This was one cache that I was happy to avenge. I was glad I had appropriate clothing on. These bushes sure are spiky, but then I guess its all in how you approach the cache.

**Thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for placing this cache.**

02-Dec-18
If that wasn't the official cache (even though it looked like it belonged to the series with the same type of container and paint as some of the others) I have removed my Found log.

Are the co-ords accurate for this cache? The cache that I found was showing 3 metres and nothing else could be located.

02-Dec-18
The Sistema was approximately 3 metres from the official cache. I've added to the hint to help

01-Dec-18
Interesting, based on the log from ppras, and a chat to the last 2 finders after that, I was curious as to how a 1 Litre Sistema arrived onsite. When for a check today, and quickly and easily found our original cache, although the log was slightly wet it was still there happily waiting. I replaced the log,.

Then went and hunted down the 1 litre Sistema, and it was actually harder to find then the original cache, the log on it showed 4 signatures, prior to the Ppras signing, those 4 had not logged this cache and not on those dates anyhow. So I am not sure how or when this cache appeared but it is obviously from a different location. Removed the offending item.

27-Nov-18
11.13am How silly I am as went to wrong area with 3 times.
At last we got it with thrilled.. BUT its not right one, CO send me the message someone put wrong one. I am glad that we able to log with CO permission
Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for the cache.

27-Nov-18
Aaahhh why can't I check the earth google to see where the cache is... today we return and found the cache no problem but but agreed with you about "ouch ouch" SmileSmile
Thanks for hide the cache and hunt

26-Nov-18
Found at 9:15 AM GAFF1.
Used the time while my car was being checked out at Berwick Landrover to do this series of caches and this was the first which sort of set the mood for the morning.
Are you sure the cache is a black film canister? There is a 1 ltr black Sistema container against the wall with the GPSr showing 3 metres distance
Thanks Pinkpiggy7.
Feedback: Given the nasty foliage of the trees, this is not a T of 1.5 - should be rated at least a 2.0 and also given the number of DNF's it is not a D of 1.5 ether.

26-Nov-18
It’s my 3rd time. Still can’t find where is

26-Nov-18
Come back and no way.. search for while but no luck so extra DNF from me. Need co check up due to flood etc...

14-Oct-18
DNF @ 07:22

I had an errand to run in Pakenham this morning, and decided to stop off and grab a couple of caches on the way home.

I parked nearby to start my morning of a few finds, a quick look and some scratches later, I decided that this one wasn't going to be found by me today. I then checked past logs and found that a few others share my sentiment.

Thanks anyway Pinkpiggy7

19-Sep-18
My luck ran out here and after a nice run of ten finds for the afternoon this one was an epic fail. Spent as long as I could spare searching here. Got a few splinters for my trouble but no cache this time. Thanks anyway.

12-Sep-18
I was hoping I’d find a first aid kit stocked with band-aids and antiseptic cream in amongst the thorny brambles, but no. Ouch is right!

02-Sep-18

02-Sep-18
Ouch!
Found after puncturing various parts of my body!

15-Jul-18
I am trying to get the series done before I go to an event up in Moe. I ran out of time and only got half done. I will be back another day to do the rest.
I haven't got my bike out for ages, it was great riding around. I think I am going to get out more often on my bike and more trails like this.
I was surprised by how much rubbish was around. Some of it was so random, I even saw a fancy leather car seat.
Thanks heaps

09-Jun-18
Too prickly.
Will need to return in my kevlar vest

04-Jun-18
Another smilie found in my persuit to complete this series. I came to this once before and was driven away by the spikes. But I would not give in so easily and today was rewarded. Just what I needed today

04-May-18
Found it with my Buddy BonnyBlack . He had a really good idea that we should search both sides of the fence . Those bushes are definitely prickly . Thanks Pinkpiggy7

04-May-18
I came here three years ago to complete this series, but didn't finish this tail end. Now the job is done. This was a great one to finish the set. Our first efforts came up with nothing, but with a bit of thought we explored a little more. Bending forward to search one of likely spots I found nothing, but as I stepped back - there it was. This one deserves a favourite point from me. Thanks Pinkpiggy7 for this cache and the whole series.

13-Apr-18
Having dropped the car at the local service centre I had a few hours to kill so what better reason for a walk. As I ambled my way along the designated trail I noted the vicious looking trees that lined the path. I thought to myself, the council really needed to trim some of these branches, or some unsuspecting cyclist will round the bend and loose a limb. It was only when the phone beeped to indicate I was closing in on a cache location that I realised the relevance of the cache name. Oh dear, this is going to be ugly. The GPSr was indicating I only had to go 15 m, but looking at the foliage from hell, there had to be a better way in. After wandering about I found what looked like a better way in but it meant I now had to travel 20m. Did I want an extra 5 meters of torcher. No way, so I took the shorter route and by the time I'd reached GZ it felt like an opening scene of Indian Jones. I swear if I had a drink of water right now I would be a sprinkler. After finding a clear spot to stand up and catch my breath, the search began in earnest. Knowing full well the hurt these plants have for flesh, the only moving parts of my body were the eyes. Very carefully I looked up, down, left and right hoping to see it but it wasn't till I adjusted the depth of field that the cache container became very clear and within arms reach. What a relief! Now how do I get out of here? TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams

12-Mar-18
Checked this one this morning and it is just waiting to be found. Ouch

11-Mar-18
Too ouchy for us!!!!

13-Feb-18
Ouch, ouch, ouch! No find. Ouch, ouch, ouch! No find. Ouch, ouch, ouch! No find.
"Oy, mate, need some help there?" asked a curious neighbour.
"Nah, mate. All good. Just taking a break... in the thorns... Big Grin."
And that was the end of the day's caching, disappointingly with a DNF.
Thanks for the hunt anyway, Pinkpiggy7.

After an enjoyable outing it was time for a few easy kilometres back to the car.

Out and back along the Hallam Trail trying not Bypass any caches, I covered just under 19km along the enjoyable track. After recent difficulties doing suburban trails this was a very welcome layout, with few muggles along the trail and no awkward placements outside schools and next to playgrounds. Just 3 DNFs (which is a good stat for me). And a great and witty mix of containers kept the interest levels high all the way.

01-Feb-18
My sole DNF. Naughty PP7. A hide so very unlike your usual ones. After some blood was drawn and choice epithets uttered I kept asking myself. Why here?
I might be back with some long sleeved attire and gloves for another look.

16-Jan-18
Oh pinkpiggy you are mean, you even had the dog running away from this one, TFTC

16-Jan-18
A little bit mean but a find non the less, tftc

25-Dec-17
Found with Brett and Supergirl. I looked for this one a long time ago in the wrong place, it appears but today, with new information, looked in the right place and we were rewarded and ouchified too. These would be very useful plants to keep "unwanteds" away. TFTC

01-Oct-17
2 sets of eyes and we still couldnt find this one unfortunately we will be back one day

16-Sep-17
It's wasn't there

07-Aug-17
Out and about with buddyclub and thought this would be an easy drive by but boy were we wrong! Spent way too much time looking in the same place hoping the cache would magically appear and thought we would leave it to tackle another day. But then had an 'a-ha' moment, relocated and soon had it in hand. Very sneaky. Tftc

07-Aug-17
For some reason had missed this one on a previous outing along the Hallam Bypass Trail but came back to get it today. Thought it would be a case of park and grab but noooooo! After much searching and getting soaked by the wet grass and spitting rain was about to give up and log a dnf, but decided to take a moment and read the previous activity. Ohhh, that's why the gps says it's another 4m away.....a few more minutes of searching and we spotted the camo. Victory! Tricky, tricky, tricky Pinkpiggy7!!! Tftc

05-Aug-17
With taz_6 and geodog. Took two attempts but we got it. Log was wet so wdm put a new 1 in a bag.

05-Aug-17
With lisyb & geodog 2nd time lucky on way back to car. Followed previous logs & went the other side.
Good camo

22-Jul-17
MontsII and myself decided to set off on this series this morning as he is in training for his next Camino. He tends to favour hilly walks, so I was surprised when he was willing to come this morning. We had a nice walk, only got started at by one muggle (we are not sure why as we were walking not geocaching when we seemed to attract her attention), and found some interesting caches! A favourite point for this evil hide TFTC Pinkpiggy7

28-Jun-17
It's funny how you can over complicate a search previously and then return and be all over it. Glad to get this one off my frowny list. Yes a little prickly but not half as much as last time we were here. Thanks again Pinkpiggy7 for the hide.
