Cache was still in place but have decided to archive it anyway. Thanks to those who found it
In the COs defense no one one took the time to log a needs maintenance. Needs maintenance is now noted.
I'm sure that it is still there but cant get down to check for a few weeks. In the meantime I'll disable the cache
Good picture opportunity. Did not waste too much time looking as there are already too many DNFs for this type of hide.
couldn't get our hands on this one probably because a crowd gathered to use the facilities called for too much stealth.
Not magnetic enough for us to find either - although I have previously found one here.
Last of 4 DNFs of the day, with no finds. Another totally bad place for a cache. Terrible clue which means it could be anywhere. Searched all around according to the clue but nothing. Totally misleading 1.5 for difficulty with no proper guidance on where to search.
I gave it a nanosecond.. then some more people showed up to use the facilities..

This was the twelfth day of my fifteen day trip to go to the Christchurch Mega. This was another stop on my way north. TFTC.
AWESOME CACHE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our 2nd try on our way to Havelock. Don't know why we missed it last time. Thanks for the friendly help we received. TFTC
Following a conversation with the CO at an event, this became a relatively easy find.
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
Grabbed this one while heading North.

The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.
T F T Cs today, paddle chick, both "welcome to" ones
Second bite at this cherry and after 10 minutes still no luck. G H 6 7 1 0 bent down and looked up and voila, a magicians word and a found cache. Thanks

We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring. We had to call in here and try to get this one, especially given the CO had confirmed it was still there. At GZ the obvious location was sighted and the search began, nothing found so we expanded the area a bit. I approached from a different angle and there it was, safely tucked out of the way.

Back out this morning. Checked thoroughly around the object in the picture, then re-checked the new metallic object not in the picture, then checked every other metal object within 15 meters. No luck in any of the locations. Perhaps when the new object was installed (which is very clean, and possibly very new) the cache disappeared? There are no bushes as in the picture, those are gone and replaced with the new object.
Hmm, picture doesn't match what it looks like now, (and paperless geocaching with a GPS only doesn't show pictures) so suspect I need to search some other spots tomorrow before we leave town...
After seeing the picture Im not sure if we were looking at the right thing. Didnt want to hang around looking too long as I felt a bit silly out in the open. Will try again next time Im in Kaikoura
During our New Zealand holiday we got many nice impressions and got to know a lot of the country and it's Kiwis. The time was short, just three weeks.
We started our travel in Auckland and went to the north - Cape Reinga, Hamilton and from Rotorua to Taupo. We continued our way to Wanganui and Wellington. Very windy there.
We went by ferry to Picton. Next stops were Nelson, Abel Tasman, Blenheim, Kaikoura and Christchurch. Dunedin and the very South of the mainland, Bluff, we couldn't miss. Even Queenstown.
Our final destination was Christchurch again. Here our holiday ended.
We found around 150 caches in New Zealand, drove about 4300 km and enjoyed the time as much as we could.
Some special places we have seen just because there is a cache and and very often the caches showed us nice places along the road, at interesting sightseeing spots or great spots away from the normal attractions.
Not to forget the magnificent landscape in New Zealand!
We loved the mix of Virtuals, Letterboxes, Myteries, Earthcaches, some Multi, Webcam, Wherigo and of course Tradis.
Thank you to all owner for the special experiences on our travel.

[green] An awesome weekend caching to and fro Kaikoura, on a strangely empty State Highway 1. But two things marred it - one: I could only do a two day weekend, despite that this is a three day weekend - I suddenly got dumped with a ton of homework and I better do some study. And two: Someone smashed a side window on the car and stole the sleeping bag. So this weekend is going to be a lot more expensive than I had bargained for . Still... 120 caches! That will be a weekend record for me. And just about every cache between Blenheim and Kaikoura converted to yellow smilies. Lots of walking, sunburn, dust. Big smiley on my face even if not in my pocket! Took me all day to get to Kaikoura from Blenheim yesterday, on my way back today.
I could not find this last night, when I stopped for fish and chips. Today there is a lot more daylight, and it was an easy find

Some very curious seagulls looking for a feed when I found this one. Sorry guys, no food here from me. Cheers.
Their was one muggle cleaning out his camper van on the other side but he was head down bum up so had the place to myself
Came out to Kaikoura for a wee family weekends adventure....about to head home; but managed to duck to this end of town to find some petrol...oh, and this cache....cheers!
Super quick find in the dark on the way back to our accommodation. I used my fingernails easily enough to remove the log but if the next cacher is a dude then you better bring tweezers Thanks for the cache

Didn't do more than a cursory look as we don't like hanging around public toilets and electricity boxes. Not to mention there was a policeman parked over the road. Maybe another time.
We missed this one on the way south so we were glad to be able to grab it on the way back north. TFTC!
Another "needle in a haystack" cache so it took just a few minutes to find this one. Signed log, TFTC
It didn’t take too long to find this cache, which could have been hidden in a myriad of places, at a spot we have stopped at many times on our travels. We were then muggled by Team Airwave – nice to meet you. TFTC
Thought I knew what I was looking for here but didn'y manage to spot it till I was on my second circuit. TFTC #5848
Not hard to work out where or what it was. Made use of the facilitys nearby, then popped over to the fish and chip shop. Yum Yum.
What a place for a welcome!!! Next to a toilet. Trying not to look as though we were lurking. Nano was good. Thanks.
Fish & chip shop here usually good...they get thier fish direct from a local boat. Thanks paddle chick for the cache
Another wee surprise my 2nd FTF today and very unexpected. Many thanks for the cache.Cheers Bo
