Went to find this cache today with La Vista we both had the feeling we had been here before. We had, La Vista checked his phone and we found this in September 2021, some how I missed logging it.
Second cache of the day - took a little looking but then MrB made the find! TFTC
11 April 2024. Have done a maintenance run of most of my caches on the TRT, removing full log sheets and replacing with new write-in-the-rain plastic 'paper' ones. All good to go here.
Turangi was our chosen destination for Easter this year and despite the weather forecast the cycle trails and local event were on the to do list.ROS headed off this morning to pick up a few caches that we did not get yesterday. Nice and quiet on this track so made for a reasonably quick find. Well hidden. TFTC.
Today friends of mine are hosting a geo-event in Turangi because...well just because right? I mean, who really needs a reason to host an event? So I've driven up from Ohau, and have arrived with a little time to spare ahead of the published time...which means there's time to find a cache or two first. This trail is nearby and looks inviting. In spite of any recent rain, the pathway is still nice and solid underfoot and I was able to make good progress to get to GZ. Once there, I didn't spot the cache straightaway so went and found another cache and then had another crack on my way back. This time I was able to find the cache almost immediately, and I was able to make my mark in the log and be back on my way again. Thanks for bringing me here today.
Sophie and Jayden found it .was a little out of place but found it after a few minutes of searching
Currently staying in turangi and enjoying mountain biking and bush walking and geocaching. We were biking the Tongariro trail again today and picking up caches that we skipped yesterday. Took a few minutes to find this one but we got it! TFTC
Second cache find of 2024, and a nice afternoon walk along a less busy section of the Tongariro River Trail. Thanks for the cache
Thanks again cartertonic for hiding caches along here...Found on a wet and humid day so glad the logs were all waterproof! TNLNSL TFTC
Headed down to Taupo for a long weekend to attend the Possum Night Trail run on Saturday. Left Auckland early on Friday, getting stuck in the traffic on the way to Fielddays at Mystery Creek. Soon left the State Highway to travel down to Turangi.
On Friday I decided to complete the Tongariro River Trail. I completed the 14.75km circular route in 4 hours of caching. I parked on SH1 near the bridge into Turangi and headed up the steep route to start the walk.
Didn't run into any mountain bikers but did bump into a muggle and her dog not long after finding this cache.

A pleasant stroll along the track here this morning before hitting the road on the driving home. TFTC
I decided to walk the loop track between the two swing bridges on the Tongariro River. Up the Eastern side side and down the Western. There was an AdLab cache, with a bonus, and several Trads. The full loop took me about 4.5 hours and was 11km long. I found 5 AdLab locations and 15 Trads in total. Not a bad haul.
The last for the day.
Cheers for the cache, cartertonic.

Last one along here. Had a great walk on both sides of the river. Started off no one around. Now very busy. Tftc
Arrived at Turangi, our overnight stop, late this afternoon. Went for a walk with the geohound to look for three caches along this pleasant trail. This one took a couple of minutes, the longest of the three. As you’re heading back to town with the cache on the right of the track, it seems to be a ‘smidgeon’ before the brow of the hill, although one could hardly describe that as a hill! #5841. TFTC.
Out for a bike ride along here, great hint and a quick find exactly where indicated, TFTC
Whilst waiting for my daughter to get ready for the day I headed out for a couple of finds. This was the second and was an easy find with good ccordinates and hint and a fmailiar container. Cheers cartertonic.
A 3 day trip to Turangi is the plan for the weekend, but the weather is not looking likely to be all that favorable with lots of rain forecast. My youngest daughter is driving down for the weekend from Auckland to hang with Dad, so looking forward to that as I haven't seen here for a little while now. We stayed in the work's bach for the weekend and that was all good with sound amenities and a nice amount of caches were located. Also managed a soak in the Tokaanu hot pools, finished off 4 different Lab Cache series, and a couple of Geotour caches too. Thanks to all COs for their caches this weekend.

Overshot it initially, then backtracked, the things we do for geocaching in the rain!
I'm heading back home this morning and thought I'd grab a couple of caches before I set off. This was the first cache of the day and I was worried that my phone would decide it was too cold to be out. It didn't take long to find thanks to a clear hint. Apologies for the bad writing but my hands were very close to being frozen.

This was an enjoyable walk to the cache, even in the light drizzly conditions. The cache was found as per the hint, nicely concealed - thankfully the weather had probably served to keep the muggles away so no unexpected surprises while signing the log. TFTC

On the return loop. 3 hours into the walk and lunchtime, but didn't bring it with me sadly.
Staying in Tūrangi for the night before setting off to walk the Tongariro Northern Circuit. Having checked in to my accommodation there was plenty of time for a loop around the river walk and to pick off some caches on the way.
After spending many happy minutes crossing and recrossing the Major Jones swing bridge I decided to continue my loop anti clockwise which meant this cache was next on my list.
Certainly the trickiest hide of the day for me.
Thanks CartertoniC

Staying in Turangi for the night on our way south. Headed off early on the bike to explore the riverside trails. Great to be on two wheels in such stunning surroundings and finding caches as a bonus. Thanks CartertoniC for setting this series. Loved the detailed hints. Another TRT ticked off. Cache and log all fine. Managed to combine these finds with several adventure lab waypoints. Lots of overlapping which was helpful. Thanks for the smiley.
Part of our trip along the river trail on our ebikes. This one took ages. It was only when we went back along the track the other way that we spotted the hint item. TFTC.
Found with our 5 and 8 y.o. Thank you cartertonic for making us stop here. Find # 1986.
Will have to re visit this one defiantly wasn't on the route we took seemed to circle around it by 250m never mind. The kids were defiantly not keen to try the other way tho.
Kauriforest and I are geocaching by car today with dogs in support. A bit of a walk but we soon had cache found and logged. TFTC
I came down from Auckland yesterday for 6 nights, staying close by with locals Punga and Paua FMZ's parents and (rustynz who came with me down from Auckland), we have great plans to meet up with fellow cachers to cache, kayak, hide caches, do long walks, climb mountains etc all going well.
While the others were still sleeping, I had other plans. Always awake around 6am, thought I would brave the very cold southerly and e-bike my way around Turangi to puick up WP's for the Angler mystery cache. Done several WP's and thought I would pass by this cache on my bike and preferred that to walking anyday!
Cache took a minute to find, excellent hint and I was amazed how long the log paper is! Made me laugh. Thanks for placing the cache cartertonic, still the original paper which is rockin' along quite nicely!

The last day of my holiday with my daughter and granddaughter. A lovely walk before dinner. Needed this cache to collect my wonders of the world souvenirs. To top it off I saw a Bellbird for the first time in the wild - bonus! TFTC
Good find on my way walking from Red Hut swing bridge.
Decided to finish off with this cache and did the whole circuit.

Was walking along with Mightymicra (who is the expert between the 2 of us). I was the one who found it though! Booyah
Found it on my holidays here in Turangi. Rented a bike and did the trail around the river. Tftc and a Happy New Year!
Found it while doing Tongariro River Track with PeanutButterBaby on the bikes while staying in Turangi for New Year's. All good at GZ. TFTC
Decided to seek this cache and another at the start of our 17.5km round trip from our lodging to complete the southern circuit of the river trail. The beautiful Autumn colours were a delight and Turangi will certainly be somewhere we come to again. Thanks cartertonic for bringing us here.
Took a few wrong turns and some steep and slippery tracks on the approach from the south. Found it after consulting Mr Google Maps. We have now done every cache on the southern end of this track!!

Find number 4631. Decided to do the TRT circuit. When I got to the intersection I debated with myself which direction to take. Thankfully I chose the quickest. At least I think As I did not do the other track. I missed the hide the 1st time but got there in the end. Thank you for the placement.
#10,520. We spent a few hours walking in Turangi. The tracks were not too busy, coming across a couple of walkers, five cyclists and a few track workers along the way. GZ itself was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Enjoying the weekend in Whakapapa Village to get some hiking training in for my upcoming big hike of the Green Gully Track in OZ. Today I enjoyed another stunning day exploring Lake Rotopounamu and Tongariro River Trail. TFTC
This one took quite a bit of searching but thanks to the clue we found the solitary stone at the brow - and there it was! Yay! Sl. Tftc
Took a little walk (!) up stream and this was our second hit very nice and still happy in the sunshine thank you.
Bike trip along the Tongariro River Trail. What a wonderful route for biking with the funny gates and a beautiful, sunny day. Greetings from Finland.
We parked at the end of Kutai Street and I walked in to find this one leaving Mr E in the car. The route past the back of houses was not as direct as expected but the container was found without any problems. Expecting this to be a loop track I carried on, without a map. Then I realised I was heading further and further away from the car so turned round and jogged back. A nice track - must come back on a bike and check it out another time. Luckily Mr E had a good book. A last find in Turangi before heading home. Thanks CartertoniC.
Apologies for time tiaken to log, had problems with the laptop that has GSAK not connecting to internet. (Windows 10 problem now sorted... for the time being)
In the area for the NZ Geocaching Adventure MEGA.
Had a great weekend exploring the area and finding caches.
Last day in town and unfortuantley had to head home. Picked up the last for cachaes I could in Turangi, before starting up the left side of lake. Will have to come back sometime though, to get the rest of the Tongariro river trail caches. TFTC

Back in Turangi in January and realised we found this one while at the mega and failed to log it. TFTCSL
We parked at the end of Kutai St and followed the trail to GZ along the back of peoples sections. Another lovely area, thanks for showing us this location and TFTC!
Home day after an exhausting Mega. After yesterdays effort on Mt Ruapehu, I was ready for an easy day - yeah right!
While there were still caches to find in Turangi, we had to find them while we were still here, so Team BOP were off together again, this time with NZFlossy joining us.
Thanks for bringing us to another nice area.

TregearP and missed this one yesterday as further south down the track we took a right fork to stay close to the river, but clearly a mistake. We came back this morning, a quick walk from the entrance point and found a fellow cacher starting his search having also only just arrived. Funny old thing, he'd done exactly the same as us. A quick find, all in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.
(2208) Last day of the Mega, so wanted to clean up the remaining caches in Turangi. Lovely short walk to collect this one. TFTC
On the last day of the mega - out early picking up the local caches Great walk TFTC
Starting from the Major Jones Swingbridge, we soon found the Waikari Loop Track, and walked up, anticlockwise to the cache, which was a quick easy find. We though it might be shorter to continue down the track, but this assumption proved quite wrong, as it was in fact 3 times the distance. Never mind, we weren't pressed for time. TFTC
With Philip.Perry and Tnxpro today signed the log Team BOP.
a quick walk to GZ and a quick find here today thanks to the clue then of on our next mission.

I missed this one when I did the river walk since I took the loop nearer to the water. Today, I still had a bit of an issue and had to circle around on the trails until I finally got to GZ. Ran into some other cachers just as I arrived at GZ and they showed me the easy way out. TFTC.
This was our last day as Team B.O.P. at the 2016 NZ MEGA in Turangi. TNXPro, Davidson clan and I really only had one goal left: to clear the immediate area but.... well, you know - lets see how we go A neat little walk but I don't know if I'd fancy a property that backs onto this unfenced. Cheers CartertoniC - TFTC
great bike trail around the loop. raining now but I must keep going for a few more smiies thx.
Back in Australia and FINALLY logging all the awesome finds from our NZ Mega holiday. TFTC
Mega mega mega Wahoo. Out on another lovely sunny day caching with my buddy nosynel and new friend Natalie247 and my muggle BF. Nice walk round. Cheers for the cache.
I am attending my third Mega and they just keep getting better. This one was nice and close. I like caches on strolls like this.
Hubby found this one with kaleb, and took great pride and he doesnt normally go find me caches, but as his first time logging we wasnt sure what to do, but he loved the bike ride and hopes to finish it someday. thanks for the placement
I missed this pn Friday - on cache too far that time. Today I was on the prowl for some local caches and spotted this one. TFTC
Nice quick find whilst being serenaded by the birds. Collecting some last caches before making the journey back to Auckland after the MEGA weekend. TFTC
