As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. I saw the DNFs on this one so popped in to have a look since we've found it before - is definitely missing and needs replacing, sorry.

Was keen to show my son this cache before a walk up the hill. It's definitely gone from its original resting place and I couldn't see where it might've been dumped in the nearby bushes. Shame as this was an easy one for kids.

I was very sure I checked the right area but just in case widened my search by about 10m without any luck.

May have been muggled please check I know where it should be after phoning a friend and it's not there.

Here for a day out wiht my parents, and adult sons. Have been saying for some time that this was the only Regional park none of us had been too, so must come for a look - to day was the day.
Unfortuantley even with 5 pairs of eyes we couldn't locate the cache.

05-Nov-16
A small group of West Aucklanders: (merlor58, supernanny, Aiden29 and myself) 'Team Westies' are our collective name (whether we are 2 or 20) came here at 8am sharp. We have planned to do Reservoir Dogs cache but one of our group pointed out this cache to do first. At first sight I thought: nano! But not.... oh no much bigger, very surprised to see such a container. Thanks to supernanny for pointing this one out to us.

05-Nov-16
Started out the day with an early start to meet Gorby, Merlot58 and Supernannny to face the bulls and electric fence to collect reservoir dogs at the top of the hill. This by far was a much easier find> Wasn't expecting a container that size, either. TFTC.

02-Nov-16
Had orienteering at Hamlins Hill this evening and made a quick find afterwards.

30-Sep-16
Quick find after having no luck with the puzzle cache. Good to have a smiley for the days efforts

28-Sep-16
This was a nice quick find which was very pleasing as I'd just spent a long time finding the 'Reservoir Dogs' cache. The container needs replacing as the crack is fairly big with a hole on the side. I replaced it crack slide down to avoid further water getting in and I have removed the broken pen which had leaked ink over the contents of the cache, TFTC!

11-Sep-16
Found at the start of our walk through the park. The cache contents are in good condition but container may need to be replaced soon as one side has quite a few cracks in it - looks like it has seen a lot of the sun. TFTC.

30-Aug-16
Really quick and easy to find while on lunch

The box is wet and needs to be replaced

Photo as unable to write in log

07-Aug-16
Could do with some TLC - the plastic has started to crack and the poor notebook was soggy. Easily the largest cache I've seen thus far.

03-Jul-16
After finding the nearby Reservoir Dogs cache I stopped by to grab this one as well. The log book is wet because the container is cracked and allowing water in, but I was able to sign the log faintly. TFTC! #1108

02-Jul-16
Knew as soon as we saw it that we had identified the hint correctly. Was surprised at how large it was as we were looking for something smaller. A clever way to hide such a large object. It fitted in very well but also secure.

26-Jun-16
This was a nice easy find here - understood the hint as we parked up. Waited for some muggles who had gone for a walk to drive off then tried to look inconspicuous to passing traffic while attempting to retrieve cache. Got it out and took it back to car so kids could look through and I could sign log under cover from rain. Log book is MOULDY and SOAKED. Didn't want to attempt to sign this, it's disgusting and really needs to be replaced. I have put in a piece of paper in a bag so people can sign something clean and dry for the interim but really needs some attention from the CO. TFTC

Good quick find here thank you ! Log book pretty soggy though .
Container is cracked and leaks ...

18-May-16
Nice easy find in the way to work

06-May-16
A very straightforward grab before I headed off to tackle Reservoir Dogs (if only I had known what I was getting myself into). Nice big cache in the obvious spot. Everything inside is nice and dry and in good condition. The cache box has some cracks in it so the CO may like to pop around and check in on it at some point - the plastic has got brittle, I guess it must get powerfully hot in that spot through the summer. TFTC.

It was a quick and easy find after all the adventure we had just before. I really like the idea of hiding it in a clear plain sight, with no bushes. but wonder, what happens to it when someone does a maintenance there. tftc.

I found this geocache with Cats&Dragons. He is trying to find as many T2.5 and D2.5 and above rated caches as possible for a challenge he is working on. We left on our mission at 4:30am to get the tides right for a morning paddle and so we could return back to Hamilton at a decent hour. If we had to pass by other caches with lower ratings we generally picked them up as well. We had a great day, the weather was fantastic and the quality of the caches was extremely high. A huge thanks to the CO’s for placing and maintaining such interesting, challenging geocaches in such cool locations.

We parked next to this cache before heading off on a puzzle hunt. It took me a second to realise where I should be looking and was rewarded with a larger container than I was expecting given the location. Cool hide.

#282 Out and about today and decided to grab this one on my lunch break between meetings. Quick change from suit into muggle camo and took a walk. Missed this one to start with and came back to it once I completed "reservoir dogs" cache. Reviewed the hint again on the way down and it all came together. Found and signed.

A quick stop after work today, as I had my eye on this for a while, since it was so close to work!!! Also i was a good size- I needed another regular for my GIO license. Pulled up and parked, and my heart sank.... there was a council worker there fixing his lawnmower!!! Well, lets give it a shot, he wasn't paying any attention....
I had read the description and figured that I had two options as to where this would be hiding. Approached the first option- nope, not quite right, so wandered over to the next one, and had a good look- aha!!!
Went in for the grab during a break in the traffic. Luckily where i was standing, I was hidden from the lawnmower guy, and I wandered a few paces away to complete the formalities. Another break in the traffic, and cache was returned, and off I went, casually passing the lawnmower guy as if I belonged there! Wink

Had been working in the general area and as it was lunch time decided to attempt this one.

Parked close by and made my way to GZ.

GPS arrow points me around in circles and I am sure I walked around the hide 2 to 3 times before I finally clicked.

Very nice clever little hide.

Took the Racer TB as I am off to Fiji for work tomorrow and will look to see if I can drop it there.

Went for a walk in the reserve today and discovered we were almost parked on a cache so had to come and find it. Logbook not in the best state and the whole container a bit damp but good hide otherwise. Thanks for the unexpected smiley Great South Road!

30-Aug-15
I had not realised there was a cache by the road here, I have driven past many times for various reasons and today we were parked here finding a different cache and spotted this one on the map. A surprising find. Now looking at the inventory I wonder if we didn't look very hard at the contents, may have to return to see if any trackballs are in this one. Found with garball on a damp Auckland day.

Was looking forward to finding this one, but when we arrived - it was in plain sight!
I suspect it was found by a muggle, and they kindly placed it where the owner could find it again Smile
Replaced cache in original hidden position.
Nice hide! A pity we missed that joy of discovery! Never mind.

Out and about in the area and saw this on my map. Am so happy we stopped as it was such a simple but awesome hide. The sight on craggers face when he spotted it was priceless so a favourite point from me.

18-Nov-14
Clever hide, not seen this type before. Contents little damp, but had no problems signing. The nearby carpark was empty, no problems with parking on this side of the hill. I had just finished exploring Hamlins hill, it filled in a couple of hours and I got to explore another special part of Auckland. Thanks for the hide.

09-Nov-14
Vistra and I decided it was time to tackel all those new caches that had popped up near the airport. So almost 12 hours of caching and we had achieved most of the caches we had targeted and walked a lot further than we had realised we would be doing, not to mention the sunburn, on this lovely day.

We were driving back from our caching mission and the car GPS decided to take us on a very strange way home, which was fine as otherwise it may have been a little longer before we came across this cache. Anyway, well hidden and took me a couple of beats of huh how do you get it (sunburn, long day) but got it in the end. and replaced far easier than retrieval.
