Today, the plan was to meet E_Smiley and georode for a couple of technical tree climbs in Mount Gravatt, and hope that the rains held off in between our climbs.
Then towards late morning, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I took a walk around Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve, focusing on the walking trails that circled around the summit.
We needed to go through the bush and I tried to follow similar ridge-lines / contours with our approach to this location. After taking a few minutes in searching around, I read a few logs and used a past spoiler photo to focus my search, and sure enough, the nicely themed cache was found. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks eatmorchikin for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/jesswrigley stamp.

With a spare Saturday on the horizon, and a phone call from chamad asking what I was up to, we soon hatched a plan to conquer Mt Gravatt Mountain.
The cache was spotted quickly but is no longer tethered. After signing the log, all was replaced as found.
Thanks Eatmorchikin for the cache.

Out today for a walk around Mt Gravatt lookout, I guess you can call it a mountain it is bigger than a hill, lol. I was joined with Willis007 and we walked around and up and down and around and up and down. It was hot in the morning part but the cloud cover and breeze in the after lunch part made it a little more enjoyable. The new macadamia gelato at the café added a new spring to the steps and hit the spot, yummm.
We found some really good caches and most were in good condition. There is something special when you find an ammo tin in the wild. In all today I got 14 caches as some I had already been too but went back to again today for the walk around. I really enjoyed the walk and the variety of caches and hides. Thanks to all the CO’s for the placements and series of caches. We signed all logs and replaced as found.
As we walked around we came across this one and I think the chicken is getting a little weathered, lol. A nice hide thanks.

I needed three caches starting with E for a December challenge, and lots of caches in this area fit the bill. Being a hot day, I spent just an hour walking on the lower levels of Mt Gravatt after parking in Rover St.
My phone GPS was bouncing around and I spent about 10 minutes looking for a tether around likely trees without success. I then decided to look back over previous logs. One included a photo from GZ and on closer inspection in that area I spotted a bison tube tethered to a silly old chook. Tftc

Took a few minutes to find, not tethered, may not be where intended?

Attempted this one about 18 months ago. Don’t remember getting very close to GZ on that attempt but can’t remember why. Kept pushing along the edge of the gully before moving up a little. Got lucky when I turned back and saw the glint of the cache. A nice view from GZ on a cold, windy afternoon.

Found on a nice sunny Qld afternoon perfect for Geocaching. This one took a little bit of finding. TFTC
Gave myself an hour to climb Mount Gravatt and as a bonus pick up some caches. My walk from Gertrude Petty place, along the Federation Track, down toward Logan Rd to get Edwin and then straight up the hill took about 1:15 but only 15 mins down via the shorter return path. There were a lot of track closures as council is doing a fair bit of resurfacing and rehabilitation along that path, I didn’t see the signs the way I went, but I did notice on the way back.
I initially walked past Eat-mor-chikin as there was a council worker active at the site and walked down the hill to Edwin. I reckon that part of the mountain was more challenging on the way down than up. A bit of a look around and the cache was soon found, blessedly free of vegetation rehabilitation interference. Log was a little soggy, but that has been the theme of the day!

The very cute cache container had gone walkabout. It appears that the tether has been broken. I happened to have some cable ties with me, so I fashioned another one for it. If I have not put it in the right place, the cable ties are releasable so you can re-locate if needed. The log sheet is ever so slightly damp, and a bit mouldy, but can easily be signed on the inside. The cache is tucked up safely. TFTC
Great cache. So much fun! My boys enjoyed this one even though it was a ‘micro’ and didn’t have a treasure.
Found with stairman1 and geopuppy and geodog Stairman1 already had a boy look. We all came back and I discovered the container lying on the ground. Back safely now. TFTC
Found with goldielover today. After a look on the way up with no luck. Decided another look on the way down. Goldielover spotted it where I had been looking. Not tethered though and almost flying the coop.
We relocated to a “better spot “.
Still there for others to find

Back today to make the trek up the hill to grab this one. I thought this one had me beat for a while going around in circles and coming up empty handed. Just about to call it and I thought mmm I haven't checked there and bam gotcha! Tftc
Out with BJA3 picking up a few smileys. We had lived in the area for 40 plus years before moving to WA, and still found some spots this afternoon we didn't know existed, all thanks to Geocaching.
Not so quick a find here..... The phone and GPS were playing up and wouldn't settle. So after about 20 mins of searching we had given up and we started to head back to the track and literally fell across the cache. Sometimes we suffer from cache blindness and overthink things too much. All in good order.

Why does the rain always put a dampener on looking under stuff for caches? When it’s dry you can dig out dirt from a tree, touch and feel every rock in a 100 metre radius, stick your hands into dark places without looking and adjust your package without fear of reprisal, but a few drops of rain changes things. Suddenly you just want to sit back and look.
So instead of getting wet dirt on my hands I just stood under the umbrella eyeballing all the places I wanted to check and getting to know those places by their first name. There is a danger in walking through the bush with a brolly above your head when your eyes are on the ground. Sooner or later a tree will try to steal it from you.
Once I realised that my umbrella was doing more harm than good I started checking my spots of interest. They had nothing in them until finally a tree did try to steal my umbrella which forced me to look in the right location. tftc

That had us going round and round. Pulled out gps and we landed on top of him. Very cute. Tftc
Afternoon walk up the hill.
With the help of an earlier log, I found it despite my phone sending me up and down the slope. Must remember to use the proper GPS much more often.
Strange animal for this forest.
Thank you for hiding this one

Took quite a while to find the cache with GZ out by 10m. In addition the cute cache attachment and cache is covered by a large burnt wood piece at the base of shrubby trees. My guess is that it shouldn’t go walkabout anytime soon but it is hard to spot. TFTC eatmorchikin.
**The day**
While muggle daughter and husband looked to buy a car at the nearby sales yards I decided to walk up and around Mt Gravatt for exercise. As usual I allowed caches to determine the trail and took my time enjoying the bushland. I eventually returned home to muggle daughter's place on Invermore Street after walking just over 10 km with a total ascent/descent of 333m over a 5 hour period. At least 2hrs of this time was looking for caches ie going around in circles - lol.

Out for the day with nikid1 finding some caches on Mt Gravatt. Our last cache for the day & such a cute cache container, had some fun playing with it then replaced as found & headed back to the car.

Last cache for the day before mum duties kick in. Nice quick find by KerriMG here. Cute container
On my walk on this side of Mt Gravatt this afternoon, this was the second cache I was targetting. Unfortunately, the trails marked on the map in my (official) geocaching app weren't accurate, and this appeared to be well away from any track. So when I got to the flatter part of the track, I tried heading straight towards the cache and hit a very deep, scary gully. I couldn't see a polite way around the back of the houses, so I decided to leave this cache for another day and returned back to the junction of tracks that I had recently passed.
As I was walking, I was expecting to follow the trail marked on my app, so imagine my surprise as I wound around and straight towards this cache! I only had to leave the tracks for the final 30 metres or so, and found the cache quickly (fortunately not too close to the edge on the other side of that impressively deep gully). A cute cache guardian alerted me that I'd found the cache. Thank you for another fun find eatmorchikin!

Boy getting to this one got the heart rate up. Passed two weed eradication workers on the way and had to be a bit stealthy as one of them was working not far from this cache.
I finally located the cache but refrained from playing with him as it would have drawn attention to me, so just signed the log and returned as found. (I so wanted to do it though)
Returned to the track and continued my way up the hill...
TFTC eatmorchikin for an interesting cache and location. A favourite point from me.

A nice December morning was spent riding Merida around the Toohey and My Gravatt trails, getting exercise and collecting smilies along the way.
Made a detour off the track and had a little search around before honing in on GZ. Throttled the chikin and it gave up the log. Added my name before returning as found and heading to the cave.

I followed the advice of the previous poster and accessed this one from the side, which I'm glad about, especially as the orb spiders are well and truly out in force again after going wherever they go over winter. (Where do they go?) Soon had my hand on the cache, which I paused briefly to play like an instrument before signing the log and heading back to the track. Thanks for the cache, eatmorchikin.
This was a nice one I did not have a pen with me, so I could not log it. A favorite point for this cache
Out on a lovely morning walk, we did a bit of a bush bash down through the nearby Carly and back up to get to this one. It was a lovely temperature today for a walk with a bit of shade provided by the trees. Given this area has apparently been burnt out recently, there seems to be a lot of new growth here and very little sign of fire. We signed the log with a smile and heard a few squawks from the base of the tree as we covered up the camouflage
Thanks for all the caches on Mt Gravatt.

Yes my chook has been roasted for sure. The area is totally burned out. Replaced the cache. You may get a bit black looking for this one! Please make sure you cover this cache as it stands out in the vastly cleared and blackened landscape right now. Lots of cover please to keep this chook safe.
They have been burning the mountain under a controlled burn and I didn't think they would burn down this low so I didn't think to go and rescue my chook. Sounds like the chook may have been roasted. I'll have to go and check when I get a chance.
Love this container! Although when I was putting the camo back over the top it made a little noise, which made me jump! Have a FP, TNLNSL, TFTC
too early in the day to be thinking of red rooster down on Logan Rd and then I find this!...a simple grab! TFTC
Nice pleasant find with geo friends before going to the 'Cave', thanks eatmorchikin for the good hint and hide
We came, we saw, we workshopped the chicken gods, left our mark and returned back to society. Such a fun cache!
I have always found this name highly amusing. The caches are amusing too if you can manage the hiking and the heat. A great series for walkers.
Onwards up this hill from Edwin. This is a workout in the heat! A short deviation and saw this little appropriately name guy waiting for a visit! TFTC eatmorechikin
Out and about in the area for another big day or geocaching.
I parked at the Scout Den and walked to a couple of close by caches.
A short search before finding this one tucked away.
Thanks for the cache.

Parked in Santley St and wandered around to walk through the scout den up the track stopped and put some more treasure in Edwin and then moved on up to Eat-Mor-Chikin. No one around, saw a feint geo trail and headed down towards the gully. Had a wander around, why does it take longer to find a cache when your busting for the toilet? Phone jumping around, refreshed the map and finally found it. Ha Ha nice cache and it squawked when I was trying to hide it again, I looked around hoping no-one had come up the track yet and heard it. log signed TFTC eatmorchikin.
Super cute one here! Walked round the corner and there it was. Covered up a bit more to help with the muggles situation. Tftc
Great cache! Favourite point from me.. Couldn't help giving him a squeeze TFTC
Taking a wander through the place of the Echidna, highly appropriate considering my tag is an aboriginal name for an Echidna.
We came to this by "the other direction" so had to cover some tough climbs. Love the guardian!

LOL!!!! Love it!! Funniest cache ever!! Glad I waited! Note to self, as ur walking down steep slippery hill.....DO NOT try to complete log. TFTC chikins!!!
Cache is back and functioning in its full capacity now. Thanks for waiting for this one everyone. I know a few of you have passed this and kept it for another day; appreciated.
Decided to add this one to my maintenance run as it hadn't been found for a while. Unfortunately this one has gone missing. I have left a temporary eclipse tin, log sheet and pencil at the site until such a time as I can find a replacement chicken. Damn! That was such a cute cache container.
After work today, I made my way to this cache. I wasnt sure of about parking, so parked in a side street and walked in the long way. After being cooped up at my desk all day, it was good to be able to stretch my legs. I followed the tracks until it was time for a short bushbash. Once at GZ, I located the cute cache holder. I extracted the cache and signed the log, before returning everything to where I found it and continuing on my way. TFTC
