Felt a bit nervous coming in here as seems like it's closed to the public now and there are so many cameras here. Nevertheless we entered and made a quick find and then an equally quick departure. Tftc

**21,720**Not having a great run on this series of cache finds, DNFd the first and couldnt open the second but at least this one was an easy find. TFTC

14-Jul-24
Amazing cache in nice secluded area , TFTC

30-Apr-23
TFTC might need to be removed however as this area is now technically closed to the public

15-Mar-23
M24: had to wait for a few cars to pass by before entering this place. After going through the overgrown grass and abandoned construction posts, I reached GZ and had the cache in hand quicker than i thought. Nice and easy find, log all good and signed. TFTC.

31-Dec-22
Walked through waist high grass to reach gz.
Sadly no bike track any longer.

03-Sep-22
Big more of a mission that initially envisaged but six eyes helped

04-Aug-22
Good find. TFTC

04-Jul-22
Nice find

18-Jun-22
D made the right call to wait in the car, merely & comfortably waiting suspiciously at the side of the thoroughfare I climbed the bank & barbed fence, skirted the now pond, and found the cache after a good few minutes searching amongst the trees in the dark (and reading abxt350’s log) — all the time wondering when airport security was going to show. Thanks keylev!

Yepp, cache is still there and in good condition. Log is dry.
It is no longer recognizable that this has once been a bike trail, open to the public.
At the moment it just looks like a construction site that has been forgotten about.
Nice hide in the obvious place.
Tftc

Its mid afternoon with not many caches to show for it. So we are moving towards the airport. Stopped off here. What first class track? And had to go through the fence to get to this one. Not sure about that? Cheers.

Day 5 - Monday 24 January - Around Auckland again today picking up the last of the GTs and a few others along the way. Droppin off the Seagnoid at the airport tonight. Its going solo from here on, with my mates Zara and Toby.

Zara, Toby and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

24-Jan-22
Almost time to leave (ie a few hours away) so Taybeedragon and I shifted our geocaching to near the airport. Stopped off here along the way. An easy find after climbing through the fence, not something the dragon is comfortable with as fences imply private land. And there is no sign of any bike track from GZ.

Day 4 of the Auckland Mega event trip. Heading home. But the plane is not till 8pm, so Taybeedragon and I are filling in time with yet more geocaching. Just a few odds and sods, really. We found about 70 caches and a few labs all up on this trip. Not many, but as we collected every GT cache west of State Highway 1 and every one in Auckland there was a lot of inefficient driving.

19-May-21
It's not often you get a second chance at reversing a DNF so far from home. Noticed this one on the map after getting another in the area and dispite it having not been found for a while I thought it worth a shot.

As I neared the area of the bike track I was dismayed to see it was something of a construction zone but it was quicker to continue walking than turn back the way I came.

I was then hopeful when I saw there was still a line of trees along the fence line, maybe it might still be there.

Now being there in the daylight made all the difference this time. The cache was still there and quickly recognized as something a little different so one less frown on my map.

Don't know how much longer this one will stay in play though. There's a silt retention pond as part of the earthworks just a stones throw away.

Cheers

25-Dec-20
Seems the bike track has seen better days... I found the cache on the floor I put it at the base or the first branch of the big tree.

01-Feb-20
#601 Found it while waiting for visiting family. Track not in use anymore.

04-Nov-19
Visiting Auckland from Wellington and have some time to kill so thought I'd find a few caches, and this was one. Found the cache enclosure laying on the ground with the lid seperate but nearby. Fortunately the log paper was still inside and dry. Signed and re placed as I saw appropriate. TFTC

11-Oct-19
Find number 6072. A couple of days caching in Auckland. Doing the cycle trail from Mangere to the Airport and back. Found 45 caches in the day. Weather was trying to rain but so far I have managed to stay dry (apart from a little splash in a nearby pond). There is a lot of construction work going on in the area. Not exactly at GZ but close. Managed to get to GZ and quickly find the cache. Thank you for the placement.

29-Sep-19
Up in Auckland for the weekend staying at the Ibis .grabbing a few caches with my sister and daughter. Tftc

11-Sep-19
Walked along the road, spotted a fallen part of the fence and hopped over that into the paddock. Aha, there used to be a track here. Mrs D followed the GPS... Mr D called her back and smugly handed over the cache. Now we see where this "track" takes us?

Cache was just laying out on the ground. So a quick find.

07-Jul-19
I had promised to bring my niece and nephews back to complete the remainder of the caches along the Mangere cycleway today on our scooters. While in the area we decided to come and find the caches around the airport area hoping that it would be quiet early this morning. Parked on the handy concrete driveway close by and made our way to GZ. Found an entry over the fence having to carefully lift the kids over the barbwire. They made their way to GZ and as we approached I spotted something lying on the ground. Having seen something like this before as a cache container I took a closer look and opened it up to find a log sheet inside. Wasn't expecting it to be that quick and easy. Returned where I found it because I wasn't sure where it went.

Out for a bike ride along this way picking up caches. Left the bike beside the fence and hopped over before making a quick find, TFTC

13-Apr-19
Strange place, strange container but a cache is a cache. Thanks for the cache.

06-Apr-19
#10,763. The rain had eased off by now, but continued on the walk in Auckland Airport in Auckland. Met a family enjoying the Runway Mountain Bike Park tracks earlier. Fortunately, GZ itself was all quiet during the visit. Found after a short search after widening the area a little. Well camouflaged. The cache was in fair condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement and for bringing us to this site, and …

12-Jan-19
Found this one on a stroll around the airport on this beautiful afternoon. Thank you very much for the cache and greetings from Switzerland.

29-Nov-18
That took a while but it shouldn't have... Easy peasy to get to. Lid doesn't seem to fix on though. ???? Good job log is waterproof. TFTC

17-Nov-18
#16282. I opted to approach from the road rather than the (rather less than) first class track. Getting over the barbed wire fence required some care. Quick find at GZ. TFTC.

17-Nov-18
I'm not sure this is a first class track now as it's terribly overgrown and doesn't look used much. The cache was soon found after scouting around

01-Oct-18
Only our 5th cache and a bit of a learning curve to pay attention to the terrain ratings! Dragging 3 little kids in here when the track is clearly closed and well overgrown is a testament to mummys budding geocatching obsession... hehehe. Found by mr 6 signed and returned

17-Sep-18
Had time for a short walk.
No GPS with us, so fired up Cgeo. Using that, we knew to expand search zone so found cache quickly.
Thanks for placing.

01-Aug-18
Took far too long to spot that! I only have 7 hours to kill, enjoying doing these to pass the time.

24-Jul-18
Nice and sunny weather today, so I decided to make a little tour in this area. I enjoyed a lot of nice places and being outside in the sun. I could find all the Caches, excpt the last one.
Really happy that I found that one so quick. These are Caches which you can hunt a really long time for without finding it.
Thanks for hiding!

17-Jul-18
Running out of time before our daughter clears customs etc after coming off her plane from overseas so walked along the road and hopped over the fence to make a find. Finally found in the obvious place after looking in other spots because the GPSr wouldn't settle down and initially led us off course. Now back to the car and find our daughter. Thanks for the cache keylev!

01-Jul-18
Up in Auckland for another night to see someone off to the airport. Woke up around 4am so went for a wander. Somehow I always chose the dark unlit spaces. I had no luck spotting this one but it was dark and dodgy.

15-May-18
I sussed out Air New Zealand Grab-a-seats from Palmy to Auckland and return last December, $19.00 each way, & paid with airpoints. Again two weeks later, another good deal for the following day. Weather forecasts for several days had been conflicting - but it was pleasant again today to be out walking. With the plane delayed, I had only two & a half hours today for my cache walk-about. I found six caches today, 1 DNF (because of time limit), & another had muggles nearby, in no hurry to go. My eyesight at present is not 100% (awaiting cataract procedure), and some caches took longer to locate than they should have. Thanks keylev for the cache.

22-Apr-18
Easy find after a short scout around.
Added new log
All ok
Thanks

08-Apr-18
Knowing the options from a previous attempt, i took the back road and jumped over the fence for a quick grab this time around.

24-Mar-18
After finding "Final Approach" a couple of months ago we were keen to come back and complete the series so decided to go for a walk around the track this morning and pick them up.
There were no bikers in sight when we arrived, in fact there was no one around at all and it doesn't look like this track is very well used which is a shame as it is a great spot.
We enjoyed the walk to GZ and spotted the cache quite quickly. The lid had come off so we made sure it was back on securely before re-hiding but the log is in good condition. TFTC.

15-Mar-18
Thanks the track doesn’t look like it is used very much. A bit of a pity. Out for a walk after flying up to Auckland

#4772. I have been up in Auckland for week on a field trip and now its almost time to head back south. But not before I manage to squeeze in two half days of geocaching in Auckland. Picked up a rental car late in the afternoon and had 4 hours to grab as many as I could before heading to my sisters place for the night. This area was close to the rental depot. Although I have walked around some of this mountain bike track previously looking for caches, today I used the road access option. Avoided the electric fence and waded through the rank grass for a fairly quick find of the cache. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache keylev.

Well we decided to go to Auckland,Then we saw a Event on.Had a bit of time up our sleeve so went and pick up some caches,A bit wet and muddy, but soon had it in hand

02-Jul-17
Heading to the airport to pick up a family member so thought I head up a few hours earlier and go find a few caches in the area.

Parked as close as I could to this hide, but with all the rain recently the ground was fairly muddy so had to walk back up the road a bit to find a way over the fence without getting my shoes to wet and muddy. I think I got a bit lucky at GZ as I spotted the cache as I wandered up to GZ.

almost a park 'n' grab, but not quite, short walk avoiding the mud and quickly spotted it

16-Apr-17
The trek around the track was abandoned as we walked along the roadway. When the GPS indicated we needed to rejoin the first class track we found a suitable spot. Once at the GZ it was lucky Mrs Wazza&Kara who made the find. The cache container did have a lid, but it also had a resident spider which we gently removed so that we could access the log.
This would have been a much harder find if luck was not going our way though.
Thanks for yet another challenging hide.

08-Apr-17
Cache had lost it's top but was otherwise fine. Enjoyed the walk round the track. TFTC

11-Mar-17
Just before returning my rental car and hopping on a plane, I decided to stop for these four caches that looked interesting. The walking was nice and easy--a welcome change from the kms of alpine hiking I've been doing lately-- and the caches were relatively easy finds as well. Thanks for placing this one and good camo!

05-Feb-17
Got it one of the last on the north island road trip thanks for the cache

28-Jan-17
Pretty quick find this afternoon with eltee291! Cool camo! Signed the log and replaced as found. Visiting from Victoria, BC, Canada. Heading home today. Thanks for the cache! Smile

Quick find today with hingis20. It is our last day in New Zealand so we are about and about getting some geocaches and seeing what we can see as we drive around. Walked to this via Nixon Rd from the Freaky Forest. This one had me searching for some while. For some reason I thought it would be higher than it was.

There was a dead possum on Nixon Rd, and it scared me two times - when I first saw it and then when I went back to the road after having logged the cache Very Happy

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Latvia!

29-Aug-16
Well, it isn't exactely a first class track to walk on Big Grin. It's quite ankle-breaking I guess Cool
On our last evening in beautiful New Zealand there was enough time to go to this small track near our hotel, to pick up some last caches in this land of the long white cloud. Our 5 week holiday to visit my sister in W(h)anganui just went by too soon! The sun was going down, but there was still enough daylight to find this cache. The last one for this visit... Sad
Thanks for this cache!

27-Aug-16
Hired a bike to have a quick ride before I fly. Nice morning and a lot of riders about.

19-Aug-16
A little bit of ditch jumping required to get there. Otherwise no other problems. TFTC

11-Aug-16
Wandered over this way next. It took a bit of bushwhacking here and there to avoid the bike, but got there in the end. Otherwise, a quiet day in the area. Found the cache in good order. Cheers keylev for the caches!

On the way to the airport to pick up young fella from plane. Joys of running a little early
