When I first started geocaching many years ago I had a tradition of going out and grabbing a few caches on or around my birthday. Several years have gone by since I have done that traditional, so this year I have started again. Nice to explore our local area and find some new spots we haven't been too before.
Thanks to all the cache owners for these caches.

Thanks to Geocaching you get to find some unusual sights around the area. Didn't even know that this existed until today

Found on the way to Rotorua for a Family Christmas and manged to arrive lunchtime two days later. Rather quicker than expected! Yep, geocaching is the slowest route between two points! Especially when I take diversions like this!

Nice easy find Smile
See? we don't need hints!

The chair is pretty cool too. I have discovered that the shortcuts are missing off the map. Have added them.

24-Nov-22
Yip, the cache title says it all - a very big chair!
I quickly grabbed this cache before working out the numbers for the puzzle.
Thanks for highlighting this curious structure.

Nice extra (original) cache here which we almost forgot whilst gathering details for Puzzle cache. FP for all the fun had heading down this road chasing your cache mjmnz.

I was keen for this side road series of mjmnz caches, and Liv drove the car to enable me to HIHO (hop in, hop out). A fully successful trip for all searched for and a nice trip to another area of Lake Taupo never seen before.

Day 1 was getting there and catching up so left at a decent time across the Desert Road in pouring rain and wind-chill assisted chills. Managed a few finds before Liv turned up, then an easy orientation time for the first afternoon/evening.

A 3 day trip to Turangi is the plan for the weekend, but the weather is not looking likely to be all that favorable with lots of rain forecast. My youngest daughter is driving down for the weekend from Auckland to hang with Dad, so looking forward to that as I haven't seen here for a little while now. We stayed in the work's bach for the weekend and that was all good with sound amenities and a nice amount of caches were located. Also managed a soak in the Tokaanu hot pools, finished off 4 different Lab Cache series, and a couple of Geotour caches too. Thanks to all COs for their caches this weekend.

One of a number of caches located today between Turangi and my overnight stop near Cambridge. After completing the Rainbow series this afternoon, I picked up three more caches in Whareora. Took a few minutes to find this one after looking under and around the chair for a bit, albeit unsuccessfully! Wet day so didn’t bother having a seat! #4554. TFTC.

09-Feb-22
Came from the bottom up as easier parking for the van. A fine chair.

Find number 5842. I had a delivery to make in Tauramunui so decided to look for the caches in this area again. I called In January without success so it was good to come back in the middle of winter when there were no people around. All I found was the lid so it was good to find the complete cache. Log was wet but signable. Thank you for the placement

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two moreWinkRazz. Today I decided to go a drive down to Kuratau from Taupo as I hadn't explored this area before.

I was like a male version of GFoldilocks (not much those left now) sitting in Papa Bear's chair.Big Grin

Cheers for the cache.

Despite a lovely new container the Bag was not used so log is very wet. Put it in but left bag open.
Fabulous spot and chair

Drove ot from turangi before the day became too hot and had a thoroughly enjoyable and successful cache hunt in an area we hadn't visited before. Thanks, our first find in geocaching. Boys excited to find more. Stunning views!

02-Jan-19
As per previous log the lid for this container is easily located but the rest of the cache has disappeared. We had a spare container which would appear to be identical to the original so hope it was ok that we replaced it.

31-Dec-18
Found a lid from a mint tin with black tape on it but could not locate the log. Might need checking.

The kids and I spent the weekend in Taupo. Saturday we made our way to Turangi and then further around lake to Whareroa and then back to Taupo never been this side of the lake always good going to new places. We arrived back at the Lake Taupo holiday resort after dark and went straight to the hot pools so nice after a long day. Tftc

Wonderful views

23-Feb-18
We are on our inaugural shake down trip in our newly acquired camper and we decided to head down and do a trail along Kuritau Hydro Road that Mr S had spied. We started this trail yesterday but ran out of time and options on where to overnight. So we stayed at the Oasis Camp in Tokaanu and headed back out this morning. Mr S found this one while Mrs S was trying to find the puzzle page she had previously printed. Certainly is a very large chair.

Thanks mjmnz.

Just after checking in (airbnb) and some nice welcome talk with our host, I walked through the small village by the sea for finding some caches!
This one was a real good one, plus a beautiful view on the endless Taupo lake.
Thanks alot and regards from Germany!

Managed to drive up to it which was just as well for all the rain that has been falling. I would imagine this to be an awesome view when the cloud lifts. Thanks for bringing us up here.

#129 Found with my mum Gr33nslime and perhaps my dad JimmyNZ. Trying the mass logging thing with GSAK hence the really general log entry! Wink

09-Feb-17
Out this way today to do this puzzle and another around the corner. Had a great drive from where we were staying out to this little beach. Gr33nslime took DangerSAM over to the seat and he kept himself occupied by chatting away and playing in the grass. After a quick search of likely locations the cache was found at the GZ, basically I strolled over to where the GPS lead me. Did not take very long at all to spot the cache though I did feel a little exposed with the houses of muggles nearby so had to quickly take the cache back to where Gr33nslime and DangerSAM could have a look. After it was signed I ninja-ed it back and took a few seconds to hide it. The view from the chair was great and the day was looking to be a stunner (lucky us). Another place I would not have visited if it was not for the caches that lead us here. Thanks for the cache and leading us to this great spot.

09-Feb-17
# 906 JimmyNZ had some time off work, and DangerSAM and myself were keen to get out of the house, so we went on a holiday to the shores of Lake Taupo from Palmerston North, and caching was to be big on the agenda!

Nothing too hard about this one, jimmyNZ made the find while I posed DangerSAM on the nearby chair for a photo. Job done.. Was a good complimentary cache to the nearby puzzle cache. Thanks mjmnz for the cache.

Last full day in Turangi for the mega event visiting from Australia and it was time to go and get some caches up the west side of the lake for a bit of a numbers run. 19 finds in total for the day so not huge but still a bit of fun and great scenery.

An interesting spot, with a bit of local info supplied. I suspect I might needs to gain a few kilograms to use the chair however. The cache was about where I expected but needed a 2nd look before I finally felt it. Thanks mjmnz.

23-Oct-16
Even without the hint, this was a quick find as soon as we realized that the coordinates pointed somewhere else Smile
The lo was very wet so we put a new one in there.. it probably still needs a bag or something in there too, which we didn't have..

Found at 14:35 - #6402 along with Indiana Jill, Rosmar & soStepho . signed as INTGEO(team) to save space and time

For our weekend of MEGA adventures we decided on a name of INT GEO as our team included cachers from USA, Fiji and Denmark with a couple of kiwis making up the balance. From the start we decided on quality not quantity but we wanted to include a mix of cache types to share with our newbie cacher.
We enjoyed two days out and about with good weather, great caches shared with a fun team.
As the kiwis in the team, we were constantly reminded of the amazing scenery that we simply take for granted as we were frequently shown examples of "trees dripping with colour", "lichens growing amongst the volcanic vomit", "picturesque lakeside bays" and "mountains of meringue"...... Thanks for all the COs for sharing with us a fabulous area of NZ. Took a team photo of all of us on the chair. Funny but we located the exact same chair (same size only red) on a recent visit to a mall in Buenos Aires TFTC.
